Think you need something like this...
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.geeksoft.extcardpatch&hl=en
or
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=nextapp.sdfix&hl=en
You need to be rooted.

Those apps change the permissions for apps to be able to write to the SD card. There is also a tweak you can do to a system file to allow apps to write to the SD card.

Dang, My fault for not following the discussion. I got excited about this app until I realized under "Read More" that it requires root.
Edit: Actually I correct the above, upon opening the apps page in PlayStore, it clearly states ROOT requirement both up top and right above "Read me". blah
Just posting to inform anyone else that gets confused as easily as I do. :crying:

Hi!
I recently installed the RamExtender application for my One V so it could run games more fluently.
However, right after installing it and creating a "ram-swapping" partition, my SD Card would not show up anymore in "My Computer" tab. I can only see my phone storage and the H: letter (usually the SD Card) is there but when I click on it, it says "Please Insert a disk into removable disk".
Please see the picture attached to the thread so you can see what's actually happening. The SD Card is not corrupted since my games still work and I can browse its files in ASTRO file manager... HTC Sync Manager won't sync either.
Any ideas how to fix it? I still want to put music and custom APKs in my SD Card!!
Thank you very much everyone
First of all, NEVER use these kinds of apps
if you're ROOTED, flash the Turbo Boost MOD
just delete the swap file u created from the SD card and you should be okay !

Thank you very much! Well I did uninstall the app and deleted the .swap file left behind by the app, but still the SD Card won't mount on Windows because it seems Ram Expander is not fully uninstalled
What other file/directory should I be looking for? How to be sure it's fully deleted?
Thanks again!

The best and final way is to make factory reset, wiping everything, including SD card....
Then just install everything from scratch and you'll have working hov...

*UPDATE* The dev says he's not avaible to provide me support. Contacting another user who used this app before.

Hope this will not be necessary. As a newbie in the Android ecosystem (I come from Windows Phone 7.8 lol), I had a real hard time rooting/unlocking my bootloader and installing the new kernel+rom...
U can do 1 thing.....
Use es file explorer and in the menu click on manager then choose SD card analyst.....
Once it stops scanning check 4 swap file if present delete it and reboot....
Hope it solves the issue

Hi Everyone,
Anyone got a resolution for sdcard issue with 4.4.4 --- I tried all fixes available -- rooted, updated permissions, etc. installed https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=nextapp.sdfix and still having same issue --- I can't even move my pictures from internal to external sdcard.
Link2SD, FolderMount, and Root Explorer is 100% broken and not working.
If it can't be remedy anyone got a good guide to safely downgrade my phone without erasing my files?
any help is greatly appreciated
Thanks,

Thanks for the response --- I followed the thread -- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2784900 for rooting my phone --- do you have any advise to re-root? or diff. way to root our phone... I checked root checker and it appears normal but you might be correct.
Try this method

Best solution for rooting but firstly install new rom 4.4.4 unbranded generic and try this method this is one click method from @munjeni my favorite method. After that you will have root and buaybox and recovery. And after this flash again sdfix and try to move sth to exsd

You can try what mosespl mentioned, or you can try easy root tool again (that's what I used and it worked the first time). I saw a lot of people in the easy root tool thread were "half" rooted, or things appear to be rooted but SuperSU failed up update binaries because r/w on system was missing (or something like that, I'm a bit new to all this as well).

try flash this patch in recovery to disable RIC if your rom support init.d ... if not, you can also use script manager to give it(99diasbleric) ROOT permission and set it to run at boot.

Test your old sdcard with a card reader on PC to check if the card is real defective.
Yesterday I put a microsd in z1c and it just can't mount but the card just working fine in windows. At last, I used a USB OTG Cable to connect the card reader with the microsd card and z1c asked me to format it this time and the sd card working fine after that.

I cannot download anything on external sd card using Dolphin, anyone faces the same problem?
Yes you can't it's because Kitkat has prevented write access to the SD card. You need to change the platform.xml and manually add the media write access or install the xposed HandleExternalStorage. Both methods require root.

Will that fix this issue too? trying to backup to sdcard in tibu??
Yup it fixes tibu. I think dolphin uses the same security as Chrome. There is an xposed module called download2sd and chrome still refuses to download to SD.

Since updating to Kitkat 4.4 I've lost the ability to sync files and folders on my MicroSD card.
There is a work around provided by the dropsync developers where you put your files in the /Android/data/com.ttxapps.dropsync/files folder on your microSD card and you're supposed to be able to sync there. However I don't have the 'com.ttxapps.dropsync/files' folder in my microSD card. In fact there is nothing in there that appears to be associated with dropsync. I even tried uninstalling and reinstalling dropsync to see if those folders would be generated but they were not.
So I tried creating those folders in there myself and dropping my folders and files to be synced in there as well. When I tried to set the sync settings through dropsync it says that those folders cannot be two-way synced.
Does anyone have some advice for me? I really don't want to root because I don't want to void my warranty, but if there is absolutely no other way of resolving this issue that I may end up doing so.
Does anyone think android will change their minds about this and let apps write to the microSD card in a later update?

Did you used a system file manager app to create the folder (file manager app build in with the O/S)? you can't create with a third party file manager. Give it a try. If that's not working then you need....ROOT!!!

yep that's the system file manager. Tell you the truth, if your sync app already installed before you upgrade then you may have a chance, but if you install the app after the 4.4 upgrade then, most likely it's not going to work...just my observation.

Yes the link is good, but the files are not up to date here is mine;
1) Download this file https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/...ixx-smp600.zip then unzip, you will see this file CF-Auto-Root-lt03wifi-lt03wifixx-smp600.tar.md5.
2) Turn Off Tablet, Hold Volume Down + Power. Follow the instructions on the screen to get to download mode (Odin mode).
Rooting Instructions
1.Flash the CF-Auto-Root-lt03wifi-lt03wifixx-smp600.tar.md5 file with Odin v3.09 (put in AP slot, don't change any other settings, click start)
2.Let it do its trick! boot up then go to play store download and install supersu in order to update supersu to the latest binary.
3. Boot back into Odin mode and flash TWRP version 2.6.3.3 found here https://goo.im/devs/OpenRecovery/lt03wifiue/
That's all!
Just purchased my galaxy tab s. When I found out how it behaves with external memory rooted it at once, did the thing for read/write permissions, disabled this weird safety feature and... It does not alow editing files to any program which causes a big problem when I try to use "iGO" navigator for example which keeps its files on SD, or use some office program to edit any content on SD... It does alow creating and deleting files though.
Any ideas? Many thanks in advance!

I only found topics about sd r/w problems where they say that I need to root and run some code (or edit some file manually) to fix permissions. Well I did it... But I couldn't find anyone talking about editing... I can get around that by saving an edited file in diferent name, deleting the original and renaming it back to original... But programs I try to use does not do tricks like that :silly:

The file seems to be edited properly but none of programs are able to edit files. Biggest problem at the moment that iGO won't save its configuration and shut down when a route is entered. I assume it is because of unability to edit files in sd also
