Camera Fix
Glad to see the first (nonstock) basec custom ROM. Couple of noob questions - does the bootloader needs to be unlocked for this. I have a rooted phone with dual recovery.
What are the camera files you have tried copying to this ROM from the Ultra Dual. I am presuming you have already done it but thought i could chime in. Have you copied libcameracustom.so and libcameraservice.so?

to have CyanogenMod you have to flash a custom kernal and to flash custom kernal you have to unlock the bootloader
this i my understanding
abt camera its my observation in CyanogenMod camera is always issue in early built but getting fixed later on
so i am sure in next built it will get fixed
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS!!! If not for the camera and led issues, I would gladly test it for you right away!
Super ninja edit: I think this belongs in original android development.

Can't Thank you enough for this...
P.S please fix the camera, and consider the feature request I have submitted in the panel, since that (feature request) is one the biggest flaws with the Stock ROM
Thanks again
This is not cool. You have published a ROM based on unmodified sources of other people's work, which is still incomplete, and is in fact worse than the current status of that work.
This is (probably) against the rules of XDA and has been reported.
Not only that but you explicitly state that you have no idea how to fix the issues present in this ROM. Anyone who installs this ROM risks damaging their device.
We didn't released the ROM for a reason. Do not use the sources to build the ROM without permissions and act like dev when you didn't contribute even one bit. These sources were not meant for a public release yet. AdFad did all the major work on this so atleast ask him before doing such stuff. Reported the thread, proper action will be taken soon.
Moreover you are asking for thanks for such kang

Thread closed. The OP of this thread hasn't taken part in the development and released it without credits. You should all wait for original developers to release it.
I'm really disappointed to see such situations on XDA.

Hello all,
I've managed to create a flashable script which unlocks the Vivo Xshot Ultimate (X710L) bootloader.
Requirements:
1) Root
2) Flahify app installed from PlayStore
3) Cofface custom recovery flashed
Download the script and flash it with the custom recovery.
Download link:
http://www.megafileupload.com/en/file/586678/update-zip.html
Do not try this on other device since it will not work and you will probably brick the phone since it rewrites bootloader code.

yes that would be great. even though I have to disagree about the Funtouch OS. I think it's excellent and I have used many phones...
Gr8 news about unlocked bootloader.
I hope it will start a little development for Vivo too

Indeed. I was looking for a method to unlock my Ultimate version for a few month but nobody troubled to help me.
I'm very happy that I found the thread about OnePlusOne bootloader unlock mentioned in my post and after I understood what was done there, it was easy to develop a similar script for my phone. Hats off to them again.
I tried to port some roms but it seems that it is not that easy and after a day of work it's kind of hard to return home and start reading so much threads. Porting a rom requires some time and since I managed to create the script to unlock the bootloader now I hope that people with more experience in porting roms will manage to create a custom rom for our Vivo phones (CM would be perfect). I still mantain my oppinion that the Find 7 CM would be easy to port for Vivo since the phones are almost identical.
Best regards
Thanks!
This method also works on mine,
which is an International version of vivo Xshot X710F (16GB/2GB Ram like an elite version)
BTW, I'm just translated the TWRP into English version, check it here!
I'm glad that this worked for you. Unfortunately I sold my XShot and I'm waiting for my Galaxy S6 to arrive. I'm glad that you managed to translate a custom recovery in english. I truly hope that people will start to develop custom roms for XShot sice it is a great phone with fabulous camera.
The link is dead... Can you please upload the file again?
link in main vivo xshot page

Hi,
So, cm-13 is very unlikely on our device, but i'll take a look anyway (a slow look as my time is very limited).
Here you'll find my "work" and "help requests".
First, for sure i didn't "worked" on a lot of device, but it's the first one i have with a dedicated partition to the kernel dts.
Code:
/dev/block/platform/hi_mci.0/by-name/dts /dts emmc defaults recoveryonly
+/dev/block/platform/hi_mci.0/by-name/boot /boot emmc defaults recoveryonly
+/dev/block/platform/hi_mci.0/by-name/recovery /recovery emmc defaults recoveryonly
+/dev/block/platform/hi_mci.0/by-name/misc /misc emmc defaults recoveryonly
+/dev/block/platform/hi_mci.0/by-name/modem /modem emmc defaults recoveryonly
+/dev/block/platform/hi_mci.0/by-name/modem_dsp /modem_dsp emmc defaults recoveryonly
+/dev/block/platform/hi_mci.0/by-name/sensorhub /sensorhub emmc defaults recoveryonly
- I wonder if the dts, which is kernel dependent, could be the major problem to get a custom rom version (kk, jb, mm), or even a stock huawei rom, to work from any base rom. I'll try to make some experiment soon.
- I did sync cm-13, and "of course" have cwm recovery working. But whatever i'm trying i can't get screen output on twrp 3.0. Does someone have a clue on this?
- @gabry3795 , do you still have the device ? I would be happy to get your hangout/google nickname if you have any to sometime talk about this device. @codeworkx is of course also welcome for any advice. By the way your cm12.0 github repo (codeworkx) doesn't seem's to be up to date, even if i understand that's it's in a non-working state.

As I understand there are some crucial files / source codes that Huawei is refusing to release to the public. This alone sounds super dodgy, because isn't Android supposed to be open source? Or can companies "own" a custom version of Android and do this sort of thing?
These files are crucial for creating custom kernels and ROMs, as they have to do with (once again, this is how I interpreted it) how the device handles the CPU and GPU.
Basically, while it is possible to install other ROMs on the device, they'll have to be based on EMUI and its kernels, because it is the only thing that contains these files necessary to make the device run, which makes the entire exercise pointless because EMUI is s*** no matter what form it takes.
I wonder if it wouldn't be possible to simply "extract" this necessary code from the stock kernels / ROMs and implement it in a custom one? I do not know even the slightest thing about programming, so I could just be sounding like an idiot.

i too have wondered about this. im sure its possible but it might be far to difficult an endeavor because if it weren't, someone would have attempted it by now. i really miss my nexus 5 with all its custom roms. i suggest that all mate 7 owners get in contact with huawei and demand they comply with the android user agreement. they are technically supposed to give up sources. we could fight, but not unless we unite.
Yes we can! Yes we can! Yes we can!

You're right, extracting stock binary files is an essential part of roms porting but some important files can't be inherited because they are strictly hardware-related, therefore you have to compile the original android source and then "patch" that files for the specific GPU/CPU (starting from android 5 lollipop) with other files given by the vendor of the phone.

But isn't that the entire problem, the "other files" that have to be supplied by the vendor? Huawei is refusing to release them, and therefore making it impossible to develop custom ROM's.
Or are you saying that it is possible, but there just isn't enough interest in the phone for anyone with the necessary skills to actually go through the trouble?

I'm saying that Huawei must provide that 'patches' (as Qualcomm did, for example) otherwise is impossibile to build a working ROM, this is the problem. We cannot do anything without them.

this is why we should all come together so as to put pressure on huawei to release these files. i have been trying for months now but its getting very tiresome. im going to start a twitter account that will hopefully get their attention. i think the problem is that the general public dont know much/anything about custom roms. there should be a custom rom psa for all android users that point out the benefits of custom roms.

Agreed.
Unfortunately I live in a place where just picking up a new phone is not as easy as 123, But I think I'll try and get my hands on a different phone this weekend. Huawei pisses me off.
No source release by Huawei.
No Kirin SOC support would be a huge problem to get it working I think.
You're a power user. Can the Huawei Mate 9 Pro keep up? Rate this thread to express how "healthy" the development scene is for the Huawei Mate 9 Pro. A higher rating indicates available root methods, kernels, and custom ROMs.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
This is a weak spot as it's no well known worldwide. Dev's are not too many and custom ROMs or even Official Updates are missing.
Official updates are excellent and fast since android 8 dropped. I usually get security updates the same month they are for. But it's true, no real custom rom development as of yet. Hopefully we get better sw once Project Treble compatible roms are available.
The Phone is good enough. Nothing spectacular. When I got the root sorted by using the Krom root, the phone is stable. I have high hopes and expectations for the resurrection remix ROM via the openkirin project, in my opinion the best ROM out there.

Would you please explain how did you root your phone with mentioned method (kroom root) ?
Do you think I will be able to root my phone Huawei Mate 9 PRO (LON-L29 8.0.0.378(C432)
I have been searching for root for a long time now, but I am very confused since there isn't really good community around this model.
I hope somebody will be able to help rooting my phone.

Assuming you have unlocked the bootloader.
You can download Krom from here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-9-pro/development/kangvip-rom-b354-mate-9-pro-links-t3790605
When you unzip the rom files, you will find Run.bat Run that file and when it's time to install, you get to the install menu, you select option 2 instead of option 1. Your phone will then be rooted and reboot. Enjoy.

Well I guess I will not be able to root after all since I don't have the bootloader code. I contacted Huawei support, they do not promise anything but there is still a tiny hope.
I know there is options like DC unlocker etc but I didn't get / read any confirmation about that anyone have successfully rooted their mate 9 pro [No EXTERNAL SD double sim version (LON-L29)] with a DC given code.
In this point I don't know what to do. Even if if I somehow manage to get the bootloader code I still need to find proper magisk root method. Mate 9 pro has no good community unfortunately.
I know my next phone is gonna be root friendly device like One Plus 6 or Google phone etc.
I hate not having full control of my own device.

I'm with you on this one.
Owning this device has taught me a few life long lessons:
1. Buy a popular phone, more spare parts, cheaper repair
2. Buy a popular phone, more community support and custom ROMs
3. Buy a popular phone, cheaper, especially second hand, which I personally prefer
4. Buy a popular phone, got an issue? Someone else already solved it

Yes, I'm offering a brand new, free S20 FE 5G (Snapdragon) phone to a developer, who is willing to provide/design a custom ROM for our phone.
The custom ROM has to be free for our community.
My wish is, that the custom ROM shows features like this ROM.
My wish is also, that this developer is maintaining the custom ROM for as long as Samsung provides security updates.
I'm hoping some clever ROM developers will read this.
You may also contact your favourite developer and show him/her my offer.
My offer will expire on May, 2nd. expired.

Edit:
I've chosen @fivanbe to receive the phone.
Edit2:
The phone is now on its way to @fivanbe.
Edit3:
@fivanbe has received the phone.
@Ubimo wow, total respect for this move man.
I was thinking just now that maybe someone could start out using a GSI as a base but then compensate for Samsung's vendor layer and turn it into a non GSI rom that's patched specifically for the FE. get things like the camera and fingerprint reader fully working.
It is true that it is surprising it is the first time that I have a Samsung since the Galaxy S3 without custom Rom...
@ananjaser1211 Your new phone is waiting for you bro ...
Thanks for the offer guys, but i will have to pass, i specialize in exynos devices only, and i only make ports that are 1 version or more above stock. the S20 FE right now would not benefit from me.
aside from that the rom you linked seems to be "Rom control" oriented (Modifying UI elements etc) you might find better luck with other people, i have linked the thread to my dev mates, maybe one of them will be interested for such roms or AOSP development.
pm me
whoever gets the phone can you call the first rom ''The Ubimo Rom'' ?
Thank you for your replies and encouragement.
Please understand, that the developer does NOT have any responsibilities or contract.
This all is non-obligatory and purely voluntary.
No demands or claims, except I would prefer a Samsung stock ROM (not AOSP or LOS).
I just want a custom, flashable ROM for our phones, that's all.
@sac23
Thank you for your post, I recognise and remember you as a prestigious ROM developer.
But I will wait for other developers to also have a chance at this.

Wew! Would love to get hands on and contribute towards custom development for this device.
I just wish someone can extend this gesture for us Exyon users . I am quite happy with my Exyon device, it's just that down the line in the future being able to apply different optimized kernels, custom ROMs and etc is something that we will be missing out it seems.
