I noticed that after I installed 4.4.4, the camera images has been extremely noisy. Even those taken with flash are noisy.
I have unlocked bootloader, and I immediately thought of this: http://www.xperiablog.net/2014/10/0...nctionality-affected-by-unlocking-bootloader/
I've attached an image taken - it's taken at auto setting, the iso was set to 640 - which is higher than I would think needed when using the flash, but still the noise looks like my SLR at 102400 ISO :|
I've been comparing to images I took before 4.4.4, and they are nowhere near as noisy even on the same ISO.
Anyone else have this problem? Any fix for it?

Yea. Hence i use manual mode with ISO set to 200 till evening with slightly high exposure and 400 to 800 ISO depending on the light. Auto mode is really bad but manual made is good

I have been trying to play around with Manual mode, and fully admit that I have very little idea what the settings actually do, however, sometimes (a lot of the time), the picture that is taken is almost all white, and bears no resemblance to what I saw on the screen?
Is this normal or is there something up with my phone, or (most likely) am I just not using the Manual mode properly?
Also, when I am in Auto, the option for using the flash is always greyed out? Is this normal too?
Cheers

Lower the ISO and make the shutter speed faster (less value = faster), and it'll be fine. or disable AEL.
in Auto mode, hit the gear and make sure HDR is either AUTO or OFF so that you get a flash

Thanks, I will give it a try.
I had it in HDR On mode, thats why I wasn't getting a flash option.
Cheers

If you are using manual mode, you'd want to read up on some FAQs. There are some really good FAQs that are out there.
The only advice I can give you is that there's a histogram and a light sensor on the very top of the bar that will help you figure out what kinda settings you would want to use.
Is it only photos taken with flash that's a problem?
If so do you have a clear case on your phone that's causing the problem.
My ringke fusion clear case causes a white washed out look when using flash because the cut out for the flash isn't big enough.
Hello.
I tried out the Nexus 5X in store today and had trouble turning on the video while keeping the flashlight turned on.
Could anyone here tell me if you're able to keep the flashlight turned on while recording 30fps video?
When I tried the camera in store it would only show the Flashlight symbol when I toggled into 120fps mode.
Edit: I would prefer that this all can be made in the stock app / stock setup. If there are other methods please let me know.

With stock Google Camera (3.1.021) updated through the Play Store, I can turn on the flashlight before recording a video. Although once a video is started, no settings can be toggled until the video has ended. Just tried it for about 20 seconds and the flashlight stays on throughout the recording. Did you happen to notice if the phone was warming up as display phones usually do?
This Snapdragon 808 CPU throttles after sustained use to prevent overheating. I believe certain features, like the flashlight, also will not turn on if the battery is low.

Is this the latest version? and are you 100% sure you were not shooting in 120fps mode? Because when I tried it the flash button dissappears in 30fps mode.
I'm going back to the store to try it out some more.
If anyone can upload the latest apk it would be fine because I couldn't access the playstore when I was there.

This is fine as my current phone has the same issue, so I guess this is fine with me.

I didn't notice anything weird with the display phone, I've never seen a nexus 5x before-- therefore I have nothing to compare with.
How are display phones different? I will try the phone for a longer period next time I go there.

It's good that you mention it because I didn't consider this. Does the nexus 5x overheat when recording in [email protected]+flashlight?
I'm not even sure if it has a [email protected] mode but i feel like more than 30fps is a waste for my intended use. Quick google search seems to indicate it supports 30fps. I feel like 60fps would be more interesting than 120fps...

Yes, the latest Google Camera update that I have is from November 17th, 2015. The flashlight works for both 30 and 120 fps in 720p and 1080p. After messing with the settings, I am certain you were using 4K. Switching to 4k recording disables the flashlight for 30fps but allows it for 120 fps.
I have heard there is a limit of maybe 7 to 10 minutes when recording in 4k. I can't say for sure as I do not record at all.
Edit: Display phones are either constantly charging or in use more so than when used by one person. So they would be warmer. Given that the Snapdragon 808 and 810 are already prone to overheating, being used in a display setting would make the CPU's more susceptible to throttling. But that is not the issue that you are seeing with the camera. The 30 fps flashlight is just unavailable in 4k recording.

I own this phone, and it just lays around my room. But that is most likely a hardware issue.
Hi,
My treat camera used to work fine, but one day started the autofocus started to fail, and pictures taken are blurry.
I've checked using other camera applications (which don't use the laser focus) but all are having the same issue.
I've ordered a new camera and changed, just to find the same issue.
I've noted that when using the magic mode, the pictures taken can be manually focused and they are good as they used to be.
I've also run the camera test on the hidden menu, and it shows AF failed.
Any idea? Is it possible to calibrate the focus of the camera?
Thanks in advance.

SOLVED
I had to buy another camera, and now it is working.
It cost me about 10 US$ on ebay.

Hi, I have a problem with the cameras. Using the stock camera I tried to test the macro and wide angle modes, but I did not observe any changes. The result is exactly the same as having the modes disabled . I explain myself, by placing the camera at 0.6x you get the same as leaving it at 1x. In macro mode the same thing happens, and I think the cameras are not working.
How can I know if they really are working? Should I take it under warranty?

try taking something like a pin or maybe the sim ejector tool. Then switch different modes and check which camera is active by placing pin/sim ejector on each camera. If all four cameras are not working maybe visit service center.
