Untill we have a .kdz file in our hands we can't say anything for sure. Most probably (and I hope) the firmware shown in the video is only a beta because too many features are missed :crying: we saw how LG is used to manage the updates with the G2, so first of all rolled out a "beta" version in some asian countries, without some features (ART for example)..Then, some weeks later rolled out the final version of the firmware. Anyway we are very close :fingers-crossed:

Thank's very much for the useful details don't worry if you can't share the rom, personally I am not obsessed with having always the latest beta..I suppose that when it's done, LG will start the roll out, and then, here on xda, works will start Only if it's not a problem and if it's possible for you, would be appreciated if you can keep the community informed on what it's added and what it's removed between the various betas, so we can passionately follow LG's progress..if you want to create a discussion, for example, the community would be happy.
Anyway..I think that ART is foundamental for the future, so it's a great news that it's here! :victory:
knock on is a pity, so even knock code would not be there..but it's not as "foundamental" as ART for example, because I think that some talented developer would integrate at least knock on in the kernel (@ak for example, I was thinking to you LOL). The "major" problem would be the knock off, because I suppose that, if the phone doesn't have the knock on, the launcher wouldn't support the gesture to double tap to sleep.
Now it remains to see the other features that LG usually bakes in the roms, as slide aside, Guest mode (it would be REALLY REALLY REALLY useful, at least for me)..hope in good things to come :fingers-crossed::fingers-crossed::fingers-crossed:

You look too responsible about the ROM. We should wait for a more generous tester to see a leak at last.

Could you be more specific? Because I can't fully understand the problem I mean.. (correct me if I am wrong):
-We start from an optimus g, with lg bootloader (for the noobs that read, it can be unlocked with freegee)
-if you put the nexus 4 bootloader ( I suppose following something similar to this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2099784 changing the bootloader partition) I think that the phone will load properly only kernels meant for the nexus 4 (and not even all the kernels for nexus 4, according to the OP of the guide), but I'm not sure because I've never changed the bootloader..Supposing that correctly manages even the optimus g kernels (and it's possible), I suppose that the problem now is the recovery, because nobody created a recovery working with kitkat roms from optimus G. For anybody, that doesn't have almost anything for now to work on..it's almost impossible to create it, IMHO..I think we have only to wait for LG's relases, sorry

I think it's necessary because with a new .kdz rom and new android version, usually even the bootloader is replaced by LG with a new version..so the old method at 99% won't work. Of course is worth a try..but I think that loading trough nexus 4 bootloader is the only option to try..even because probably the jelly bean bootloader wouldn't be compatible with kitkat roms..
We only have to wait for a kdz, nothing else..only few weeks and here we go, hoping that someone would be able to unlock (as fast as possible) the kitkat bootloader..

Figured I'd start a thread about Lollipop since it was officially announced today. As others (namely @KD8JBF ) have pointed out, Sprint has updated their device RDF page to mention a ZVE firmware. Will this be the update to Lollipop? Any ideas?
How do you think the G2 will handle Lollipop, and what do you think about what we've seen of Lollipop so far? Hopefully ZVE will at least fix some of the bugs in LG's firmware.

I believe this is the update to use the home launcher from the G3. LG stated a few months ago that they were going to update the G2/Pro/Flex to the G3 launcher and they were attempting to have them all updated by Christmas.

This thread isn't about a ROM, it's about a software update from Sprint. If you're confusing the two, I'll answer as if you meant update when you said "ROM". If you were to update to ZVE (or update at all) and you're on CloudyG3 right now, you would have to downgrade back to a stock version of the LG LS980 firmware. You can do this using LG's FlashTool and a tutorial I put up on here awhile back. I also put up tutorial videos with links and downloads on YouTube if you search for my name " Kristi Grant". When I get on my laptop I'll post links, or click on the link in my signature.

If you are using the final build of the Android L KDZ then you'll be fine to flash it from any version as the KDZ contains all necessary files. @autoprime has confirmed on his twitter feed that this update does not implement anti-rollback so you should be fine to downgrade and Bump in the future if you want. Hope this helps!
But I'm not using the final build of Android... I'm asking if I can upgrade to lollipop, when it's officially out, instead updating to 10L and then update to Lollipop

I said the Lollipop update contains all necessary files. The final KDZ is what they will push when Android L gets officially updated on your device, or a TOT or .dpkg. You will not need to update in between as you never do inbetween major system updates. If an official update ever has dependencies, it will not let you update without them so don't worry. You would be able to jump from any version you like to Android L. Like I said though, we will have a ported version of Android L long before the official update. Also, although @autoprime has confirmed the release of Android L for the D855 does not implement anti-rollback, this does not mean that other variants will not implement something to keep us from going back to previous software versions, then you may be stuck with Android L but no root or TWRP permanently. I can not emphasize enough how much I do not agree with taking any official updates if you are the slightest bit interested in root or custom roms for you phone.
Also, you only get notified if someone directly quotes a post of yours or if you mention someone by username using @ like I did for @autoprime above.
If I've helped, hit the thanks button!

If you want to update officially with the KDZ, the best option is this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2799647
Just use the tool and official KDZ to ensure everything is wiped and completely updated.
There is already a rooted Android L .zip ready to flash via TWRP that is available in the General G3 Development thread. Good luck with either route.
Love you.

That I'm not 100% about. I use stock so haven't fiddled with it yet. But my guess would be no. That being said, you can easily try it. If it doesn't work (loops, bugs, etc), you can always restore your backup (which I do assume you'll do before flashing )

Hi.when t mobile g3(d851) gets official mm update?anybody knows?
You can track the progress on the t-mobile site. Right now its in the first of 3 phases so it could be several months before we get it. We may get lucky and get it earlier but only time will tell.
isn t there any marshmallow stock rom port of other version like cloudyg3 does, one stock rom for all variants, so we can have it earlier and optimized ?

You can try this ROM here... before you jump at it and start flashing away though, bare in mind that there are still bugs. Major ones for the D851 specifically include BT and video recording. I've flashed it and using it as my daily driver but if those features are essential to you I would recommend sticking to cloudy for now
