[Q] Network frequency band in use right now? - G3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there any way to view the current frequency band in use on an LG G3?
On many Samsung phones, *#0011# will show a screen of current radio information that will have the band in use.
I tried the hidden code of 3845#*855# but I'm all the different menus I can't seem to find one that will show me either the current frequency in use right now or the RFCN code I can use to calculate it.
Does anyone know where this might be please?

[Q] Expose band in use if you have a rooted/ CM phone?

my understanding is that typically only Samsung's own Field Engineering app will expose and even force the Band in use, often, typically "band IV" or Band II when I have a 3G/HSPA connection (=AWS or PCS band). Is there a way using a rooted phone loaded with a flavor of CM to see that as well? (Either just display the band or even lock on a band. I'm asking if there in an alternative engineering app that would work... if you run CM.
Or is the only solution to return to a stock Samsung/T-mobile Android version if you want expose "Band in use"?

Not sure if this is what you are after, but go into Settings and under Wireless & Networks choose More...then choose Mobile Networks, in there you can choose Network modes and also force to use only 2G networks.
Thanks for the reply. It's not what I meant though, I want to see which band I'm getting service on. For example AWS or PCS band. my Samsung with stock android on the above examples it would say band 4 or band 2.
But I suspect you need stock android from the OEM to keep that ability.

[Q] Select LTE frequency band manually

Hello,
Before buying this ZenFone2, I had a Samsung S4, which had a secret menu that could be accessed through the phone dialpad to allow viewing and selecting frequency bands.
I would like to know if there is a similar test menu on the ZenFone2 that will allow me to manually select which LTE frequency band the phone is forced to use?
Thanks!

Thanks, but that's not quite what I'm looking for. I want to manually select the frequency band, not just choose LTE.
Here is a screenshot of what that looks like on a Samsung phone:
I am sure that I have seen info on this for ZF2, but now I can't find it....
I hope that by bumping this thread someone who knows will shed some light, obviously it won't allow us to select a band that is not enabled, but at least seeing which bands are enabled in a particular phone would be good!

Did you try the same code? I know not all codes work but some are the same...

I did try the code yes, and it brings up a menu called Testing with the following items:
Device Info
Battery Info
Useage Stats
WiFi Info
But I cannot see anywhere in these options that tells me which bands are enabled.

LG G4 Band Selection Reversal

I had to use the hidden menu in order to connect to LTE only, band 20. However, when switching back, it will now only connect to band 20 and no others, such as band 7. Is there any way of reversing this? Like removing the specific band allowing it to connect to any?
Many thanks.

Useful tip for switching LTE bands in the G710EAW (and possibly other versions)

If you try to change bands in the service menu (e.g. from Band 4 to band 2) and you have LTE but phone calls don't work at all (just says call ended instantly), just go to "network mode" and select automatic, which will get voice working again on your new band.
Turning the sim card off and back on won't fix that--that will just make the band reset to default (with voice working) which isn't want you wanted if you were switching bands.
This can be useful on low tier providers if one band is lagging horribly and another band is more reliable.
I just recently discovered the service menu, does this actually enable bands that normally aren't active? I see Band 71 here which I thought was only available on the TMobile US variant, yet here I am with the ULM model and it shows it in the menu. I'd like to enable it in case I'm ever in an area that supports it, but I'm not sure what this menu actually does?
