I have rooted my phone the other day and found a folder named Baidu. Today, I read the news about Sony phones containing the baidu spyware. Baidu is a Chinese counterpart of Google search. Recently, Indian Air force has banned its employees to use Xiomi phone which reportedly sends user location to a Chinese server using Baidu.*
Has anyone also found this folder on the phone?
Same here, i found the Baidu folder on my SD card :| .
I'm not sure if the phone uses Baidu in stock form but I do know that as of a recent update ES File Explorer has been installing Baido services.
From what I understand it is supposedly a Chinese government backed upload or cloud service. Kind of like dropbox but with extra security worries.
I ditched ES file explorer and went back to root explorer which is upsetting because I liked ES File Explorer's Chromecast integration.

As the main "Admin" user, am I able to see/view files that guests or other user accounts have downloaded through a file manager? (Currently use ES File Explorer)
If I am able to, I haven't been able to find out where those files they download are stored on the device storage.

TWRP has a built in file manager, I managed to install an apk using 3 apps and TWRP:
Requirements:
1.)Unlocked bootloader on the Wear device (This voids warranty)
2.)Obviously TWRP on Wear device
3.)A smartphone
4.)An Android Wear device
5.)Chrome on Wear
6.)Superbeam
7.)Es File Explorer on Wear
What I did is used Superbeam on my smartphone to send the apk to the wear device. To do this I disconnected my smartwatch from my smartphone and copied the ip address Superbeam created for the apk into chrome on the Wear device then allowed it to download the apk. Once it had downloaded the apk I used Es File Explorer on Wear to check if it was successful and successful it was. Then I booted the wear device into TWRP and moved/copied the apk into data/app (I used TWRP since Es File Explorer wasnt showing the directory data/app) then I chmoded the apk to 0644 and surprisingly when I rebooted it worked so im gonna try various apps using this method.
Install with es file Explorer
1. Follow steps 1, 5 and 7 above then
2. Download apk with chrome
3 load es file Explorer
4 click on root Explorer
5 now select one key install
6 then find your apk
7 install it and it should work

Yes not all apks work though
Any that you have tried that work and that you would recommend? I feel like many of them wouldn't go so well.

There is away to get play store working on SmartWatch but the tutorial given is really bad alot of people including myself have had trouble doing it and when I attempted it by following the op it resulted in me getting connection issues even still after relocking bootloader. If anyone can provide a better tutorial than the current one it would be better im not sure if the thread is still around also there is another way to get apps on watch using es file Explorer with root I will edit op for it
Hi Guys need some help, I see these folders baidu, jsonparsetutorialcache, dianxin, tencent in my ATT Note 5 and I dont know what these are and dont remember seeing them when I got the phone BNB.
So from my reasecrh I was able to find that ESexplorer was a part to blame to get Baidu folder installed and even after uninstallation of ES explorer and remove folder Baidu folder from phone it keeps coming back. I did reboot and finally was able get rid of the folder by going into safemode.
Only chinese app I have installed is Package disbaler PRO, in the past I had Miiband app.
so question here is
1. What are these folders for
2. Why does/did Baidu folder keeps coming back
3. Could this mean my phone is compromised or some info is send to Baidu servers without my knowledge
4. what can I do to make sure phone is secure and not sending info to China servers

Why an Android file manager can't open folders under /Android
File managers aren't supposed to be able to access folders under /Android, but a loophole let them. Android 13 closes that loophole.

In android 13, data and obb folders are blocked. Tried many file managers with root to copy game data in obb folder but failed. Even the Xposed module "no storage restrict" did not worked. Finally copied data through browsing "/data/media/0/Android/obb". You may try this with root.
I am using Evolution X 7.1 on Redmi Note 11.
There are some file managers that are catching up with this. MiXplorer and FV File Manager have updated to allow access to /Android/data & /obb directories in Android 12+.
Now I have access to Android/Data & Android/Obb but I can't paste any file to these folders. I use ES File Explorer. I don't want to use other file manager like MiXplorer and make the trick of splitting screen with drag & drop so that to write files to the above paths. How to make it in the ES File Explorer or if it exists some magisk or xposed module in which to disable this restriction and to be like in Android 12 in which we didn't have any problem in accessing or writing any file to above paths ?

This is your problem right here. ES File Explorer stopped working properly upon release of Android 11 or 12. I discontinued my modded versions of the app at that time and switched to something that DOES work.
Get another file manager.

When I went to Android 13 then I had ES File Explorer which didn't have access to Android/Data. Then I found ES File Explorer v4.4.0.2.1 which has the ability to have access to Android/Data but it hasn't the ability to write (via copy - paste) to Android/Data. This problem doesn't exist only to ES File Explorer but in all File Managers which I have used like File Manager+, File, MiXplorer, Xplore etc... The MiXplorer which can write to Android/Data not be done via copy - paste but via some trick by splitting screen and drug-drop the file which is some intermediate solution. If it is found some solution which can work the copy - paste to Android/Data then this will work to all File Managers which means that the problem isn't that the ES File Explorer is deprecated. May exist some magisk module or lsposed module which deactivate the SAF (Storage Access Framework) permission in which wasn't enabled in Android 12.

ES File Explorer, as I said in my previous post, no longer works with current versions of Android. This is because there is no one working on its code. No one to fix bugs when they appear. No one to ensure root functions continue to work. No one to enable proper access to Android/data.
There are file managers out there that are not ES File Explorer, and while you have tried some, you've not tried them all. I tried Root Explorer just now and had no problems copying files to /Android/data in internal storage; no tricks or workarounds needed. So I stand by my statement. Especially as the file manager I now use doesn't have this issue.
Looking in my rooted OOS 12 One Plus 9 Pro phone in /data/apps with Root Explorer, I found that all the apps I downloaded from Google Play are stored in separate folders with cryptic names for each app, and that many apps downloaded as more than one APK, with names such as "base.apk", "split_config.arm64_v8a.apk" and "split_config.xxhdpi.apk" in their directory.
I tried the App backup functions of Cx File Explorer and ApkExtractor and these both save only the base.apk, simply giving it a proper identifying file name.
While I could rummage and save the files I found with my root file explorer, I find it cumbersome and wonder if there is any App backup utility that backs up app APKs completely so they could be reinstalled later locally if necessary.

Or migrate. It even restores all data in apps. Then flash zip to restore.
Same thoughts Swiftbackup, Migrate, etc...
