The USB doesn't work on your phone?

nope i bought it for 10 dollars from some hobo all i know is that its rooted it worked fine when i got it except for the usb i rooted it and tried installing cwm with an app called lte2/l1m recovery touch and it didnt work it messed it up.

@dgo700 So I assume you have an external battery charger then?

i charge the battery with another phone i guess i might need to get a new usb battery to bring it back to life.

@dgo700 yeah, probably. If anything goes wrong, it takes a USB port to return it to stock.

I'd fix the port. You will surely be needing it.
I'm not up on current temp root apps for the S2, but if you could gain temp root with something... You could use flashify to flash CWM.... No pc required.

I believe you have to install the stock Samsung ROM that came with the phone. Search and there is a thread that I believe has the ROM you need.

Are you not able to use Odin to flash a stock kernel onto the phone?

Have you tried to go into download mode and see if Odin reads it?

Also my phone is on Stock Rom and Stock kernel, it just has the previous Kernel boot logo Synergy... and that is what i cant get off, i no longer have a rooted phone / CWM.. and on top of that cant use USB mass storage this sucks!
Yes, it doesnt do anything same as before...
from what ive read the zedomax method only flashes your recovery and a deodexed stock rom but doesnt flash the kernel which will leave the kernel you were using best bet is to head over to samsung make sure you have the newest drivers http://www.samsung.com/us/support/do...SGH-T989ZKBTMB and retry to get back into download mode to use odin using this....Take the battery back out Plug in the USB cable connected to the computer Hold down the volume up and down then Put the battery back in. You should get the option: Volume UP to continue / Volume Down for Reboot. Then try flashing back to full stock with http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1350360 afterwards you can format the usb storage and the phone should be set for a return or exchange
BTW that link is for the tmobile stock
ya tried drivers no luck.. you think T-mobile will care that it has that boot loader image even though its stock rom/kernel LOL??? i mean i guess ill have to try see what they say i am gonna act like its no biggie.
I had the same problem as you, I restored back to original, but the Synergy Logo comes when the phone powers on.
My computer only charges the phone, no matter what drivers you install.
I gave up in searching how to fix it.
I'm selling it to a friend who doesn't care much about phone like I do.
Lesson learn.
Why dont you just get a new one, i am in the 15 day grace period where i can exchange for a new phone, i am just going to get the HTC Amaze, i am not to impressed with this phone, i just hope they dont care that it has that logo lol!

Urgent Help needed, USB not being recognized!

I'm looked everywhere but nothing. Please help if you can.
I was on BeastMOD2.5 then some things on the phone were not working (Tmobile S2) so I called in and they shipped me a replacement. I used this link (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1323878) to restore it back to stock and unroot the phone and it worked besides one problem, I still got the synergy kernel gray screen at bootup, so as of now, i'm at stock, unrooted just with that synergy kernel screen. I looked it up and found the ODIN stock way to get it back so I tried that way, but now everytime I hook the USB to my computer to try to ODIN it, it always says USB not recognized (I've tried searching for fixes: clean USB, reinstall drivers, reinstall Klies, other computers, other USB cord, other USB ports but nothing).
I just need to get that synergy kernel screen off from bootup, but now that I cannot hook up the phone to any computer, what should I do? Is there a wireless option I have? Is there a way to brick the phone to where it won't even boot up when tmobile gets it back that they wouldn't even know? thing is it will also charge using a computer, but the computer won't recognize it (im done the whole settings USB options as well)
Please help, thanks guys.
any ideas?

I've tried that and i've tried this on 4 PC's and my usual Mac that I use to transfer files but no luck.
I also tried the debugging mode but nothing as well. Ill try for a couple more days with random things but since the rom is stock and everything is basically like out the box status if I were to return it with the synergy kernel screen on bootup, what would tmobile say even though everything is stock even the kernel?
Hey Buddy, there had been a few of us that has had the same problem.
For some reason, after you restored your phone back to stock, you still have the Synergy Logo when turn on and you lose your USB drivers, somehow, I don't know why. I tried so many ways for my computer to locate my phone, but after so many hours of looking, I gave up. Sold my phone to my friend and got another one.
Lesson learn. Someone should look into a solution for this problem
Thanks.

This is good to know for anyone that is looking to restore phone back to stock.
So I'm guessing people should install stock kernel first via Odin and then flash stock rom/recovery.
Maybe this will take care of Synergy logo.
What steps did you take?

+1 From the posts Ive read the people that have had this issue have used the zedomax flash. Safest bet for anyone looking to go back to stock should stick with the odin method. I think there should be a warning in the index thread next to the [HOWTO] [ROM] How to Unroot SGH-T989 Painlessly link about the usb issue and also the kernel boot image even thou if people would just read the whole thread they would see that others have already reported the kernel image issue......
Returning the phone with that would land you an out if warranty fee

If you flash this stock kernel zip before you flash the easiest unroot method ever it will give you stock kernel and remove any custom kernel logo.

yeah but is was too late to know that, so there's no way we can use the samsung recovery mode with the install from SD option?
Is your recovery stock. ? If its not you can always put it your sd card and flash it that way.

[Q] will sprint exchange my phone if its rooted

I wanted to know if sprint will exchange my phone if its rooted with a custom rom (calkilum rom) i want to exchange it b/c my usb port is not working. my phone doesnt know when its connected to the computer. so just keeps on charging doesnt give me the opting to put it on usb mass storage..
I highly doubt it.
You can always download a stock ROM directly on the phone... unless you need Odin to flash it, I guess.
Try to find a stock ROM and, as long as you can get into your recovery, you should be good to go.
Plug your phone in while on wifi and download ;P
That is a problem with the ROM. Go to settings, Wireless and Networks, and choose USB Utilities and Connect storage to PC.

i want to go complety stoch tho.. do you know if there is a way going stock with out using odin? any feed back would help
Completely stock maybe not but you can put a stock repack on the microsd using a reader and then flash that so atleast the build looks right. The modem version may be of some concern as well if its not EK02 id look and see if you can cwm flash it?
I was able to get my phone exchanged for the same thing.
This thread here explains what my phone was doing.

They knew I was rooted but this was clearly a hardware issue not a software issue.
Good luck

When u say u were rooted did your phone turned on with u full yellow triangle with custom rom and recovery?? or did u use a jig???
Have you tried a different USB cable?
I had a problem like this on my old Samsung Captivate.. It ended up being the USB cable.
Also, does ODIN recognize your phone in Download mode (Vol. Down + Power)?
Lastly, try and mount USB storage from CWM recovery (Vol. UP + Power), and see if that works?
If not, try re-flashing the latest Rogue kernel through CWM and try mounting USB storage again.
I had no problems exchanging my rooted Evo with a custom boot screen at their repair center in Florida.
My issues were hardware related though, so that may make a difference.

[Q] Stock 4.4 non rooted .zip?

Hey guys. Im sorry for this I am having a very hard time finding a flashable zip of the complete stock (non rooted) image.
I need to send my N7 back to ASUS because the USB port is busted. My device will only charge when it is powered off and when it is powered off nothing will recognize the device. I cannot plug the device into my computer (tried a million times on different machines.. pc mac linux).
I have unlocked bootloader / twrp. Since I am already going to be sending them a device which technically has a voided warrenty (I am going to cross my fingers and hope for the best) I would atleast like to send them it with a stock image (non rooted).
Is there a flashable .zip which is 100% stock without super su installed on it? Otherwise, what is the best way to uninstall super su and unroot the device while on the stock rooted rom ?
Thanks for your advice.
EDIT:
So I ended up doing the following:
install rom toobox pro
convert super su to user ap
uninstall super su
uninstall rom toolbox pro
I did a wipe so this thing looks as close to stock as possible other than the fact that TWRP is installed and the bootloader is unlocked. I really hope asus will take my device and fix it still. so goddamn annoying.

Have you considered flashing the factory image?
That is how most people return to complete stock.

The problem with this is unless I am mistaken, I cannot flash the .img files because my usb port is broken.
The whole reason I am sending it in is that unless the device is 100% powered off the usb port is 100% useless on my device. Will not get recognized by any type of PC or Mac, and will not charge. The only way I can get my device to charge is by totally powering it off.
I am thus screwed and am going to have to send my device back to ASUS with a unlocked bootloader and TWRP installed unless there is a way to get it back to total stock without plugging the device into the computer, which I ahve not found a solution to.

Sorry, I misread "My device will only charge when it is powered off and when it is powered off nothing will recognize the device" to mean the charging will only work when powered off and nothing will recognize the device when powered off (but will recognize when powered on)
But now that I see how that doesn't make any sense, I realize I misread what you meant to say.
There was a bone stock update.zip floating around somewhere but I can't remember where.

Need help. accidentally wiped os after flashing recovery and now have trouble

So I have had this device since February and finally decided I wanted to Unlock the bootloader, install a custom recovery and get some cool new roms on it. I have the GPE by the way.
Anyways so I unlocked the bootloader and flashed TWRP and then rooted the device by flashing a zip file for root. I assumed the tablet got rooted so I then decided to try the multi window hack and flashed that. Well it caused some apps to corrupt (the phone app in particular) and they would keep crashing preventing me from doing anything. I decided to go back into recovery and try to do a data and cache wipe but that did not help. Eventually I wiped the entire OS which was a mistake. I was still able to get into recovery mode but I have no SD card to load up with a rom to flash and it was late to go buy one. I also tried ADB through the recovery mode that did not seem to work.
I did some searching and found out that I could download the LGMlauncher and it could get me back to stock but to use that I needed my serial number which is on the box (which I had at the office). So I plugged it in (and got the little battery icon) and a few hours ago went to the office to get the box. I tried the LGMlauncher and it keeps on crashing while trying to update and now I am not able to get into recovery mode. What are some other steps I can take to try and recover it?
Thanks.
Edit: I tried the LGMlauncher again and it said my battery was low so I plugged it back in. is there a trick to charging it while it is off? I assume that could be why recovery mode wont work.

Yeah It appears as though the battery was not charging even though I had plugged it in and now it is dead. I cannot seem to get it to go into recovery or anything. Is it safe to say it is bricked?
When my HP Touchpads battery was to low to take a charge from the wall charger, the only way it could get enough charge to be able to use the wall charger was to trickle charge it from my computer usb port for a couple of days.
