I have the tmobile LG G3.
My SD Card was working fine. No problems at all since I got the phone about a week ago.
I know for sure it was working up to the point that I backed up my EFS about 30 minutes ago. I did a flash of my backup file to make sure it worked and got no errors.
Now the phone is not reading the card or allowing me to mount it. I can also not view it via USB. I'm not sure if this was caused by reflashing EFS. I doubt that it would be.
I have not changed my DPI and that is the only issue I have been able to find causing any SD card problems.
If I boot into recovery I am able to see that the card is mounted. I can also view the contents of my card via my SD adapter on my PC.
How can I fix this problem?
Edit:
I flashed the backup of my stock rooted rom and it allows me to read the card now.
Not sure what the deal was.

I just fully rooted my phone to the OTA 1.32.651.6 last night and everything was working fine. I completed a nandroid backup, updated the radio, and followed everything to a T. I haven't had any issues with my sd card until a few minutes ago when I shut my phone off and turned it back on. Now I am getting a blank SD card error and it is telling me I have to format the card. I don't understand why it was working after I rooted and now all of a sudden it is not. I even did another nandroid backup earlier today. Any help on fixing this would be appreicated.
Thanks
I just got home and tried another 8gb sd card and my phone reads it just fine, so it's not the phone. Looks like somehow my SD card got corrupted during the restart. I tried putting my original card in a reader on my computer but in both mac os and windows, it is telling me I need to format the card in order to read it. Is there any other ways you can think of to get my data off of it? Also, since I am in root, is there any files you think I should put back on my memory card if my original one can't be saved?
Can anybody help?
Mine is doing the same thing. A few days after putting the latest Fresh on my phone it suddenly told me that my sd card dismounted and now needs to be formated. Trouble is the phone won't format it and it won't let me do it from my computer. I'm trying to find out what's going on but I don't know that there's anyway to salvage the data. My phone did this once before and I couldn't save anything which sucked, but it still formated the sd card. I'll report back if I find anything.
Ever since flashing cyanogenmod 6 I have been having several probelms
1. My SD card is not mounted and not recognized by anything. This is stopping me from accessing rom manager or making any changes.
I have tried several things including reformating my sd card and removing files just in case it was to full. I have not been able to figure out how to partition it to part fat32, part ext yet. I am running out of ideas and getting very frustrated with my phone. I have three sd cards to work with and none of them are recognized.
2. This would not be a problem if I could just go to stock. Unfortunately I can not get my pc to get me into recovery so I can preforma NAND backup or flash a different rom that is closer to stock. I think this may have something to do with my sd card not being recognized. I have also tried the workaround involving no pc but still am getting nothing,
3. I am also having issues with usb connectivity.
I think if i can either get my sd card mounted or my phone to enter recovery mode so I can flash another rom, add the google add on, or do a NANdroid backup it would take care of my problems. If any one has a great idea as to how to get my sd card to be recognized I feel that would solve most of my problems.
Thanks Brad
Hey I have the same problem!
Could you solved this sd card issue?
Thanks
I used to make backups before with amon-ra-recovery 2.0.0 and everything was great, I could restore everytime I wanted and I didn't have any issues.
Suddenly, since some time, things started to go wrong. Not a single nandroid backup I do is working, they all get corrupted immediately and I get that "error, run nandroid via adb" or something similar, error, you probably know it. The md5 is corrupted on most of the .img files and even if I change them to be correct, I manage to go through the entire restore process, but the system is whacked, it either goes into bootloop, either it boots fine but sd-ext is gone and all the screens are empty like I never had any widgets or app shortcuts on them, and sometimes I'm lucky and I have only some minor bugs which are fixed by reflashing the ROM without wiping anything.
I can't remember if this happend since I updated to ra recovery 2.0.1 (I am now back to 2.0.0) or since I changed the SD card into a class 6 one. The partition is 1gb ext4, it is done properly (I repartitioned with ra recovery 2.0.1 a few weeks ago and still problems, the previous partition was made by g-parted), SD seems to be working well, I really have no idea what is causing this.
I am willing to try clockwork mod recovery today, can anyone provide a source for their latest version please? I can't find anything on google except for some old threads.
which card are u using ?
The new one. 8gb class 6, I don't see what difference does it make...
I am now getting a problem that I also had before I repartitioned the SD card last time, after doing a nandroid backup today, now I am getting an error telling me that card is read-only. I can't mount it to PC (I mean i can have disk drive on phone but when trying to open it from PC it says its not found). Last time I had this problem I couldn't delete sd-ext.rar from the nandroid backup folder, it said it was corrupted and I couldn't do anything, just like now. Can't connect to PC, can't unmount the SD from phone and on available space it says read-only, that is the problem, how can I solve this? I'm really not in the mood to repartition all over, is the card broken?
Edit: I am now going to report a problem that I've only had on this SD card so far, never on the old one that comes with the phone. So I rebooted the phone and now the sd-ext isn't recognized on the phone, apps that were installed on it don't show up in app-drawer and some widgets that were also on sd-ext don't display on the screen, says problem loading widget. I had this problem once in a while with most of the ROMs I tried, ever since I switched to this card (i think it happened in the 1st day this card arrived). When I reboot the phone (either I normally reboot it or the battery dies), sometimes this thing pops up. It doesn't say any errors, its just that the ext partition isn't recognized, but the fat32 is ok, I can access the SD card's content via root explorer for example and I can even mount it to the PC and explore it from the notebook, but ext partition isn't recognized.
Like I said, this is only on this new card, doesn't happen to the old one, and it happened even in the 1st day it came and was inserted in the phone. I also repartitioned it and same problem, both times did it correctly exactly as I did with the old card and everything was ok on that one.
The exact problem is "mounted read-only - the sd card has an unexpected problem. Tapping...(can't read any further cause it doesn't fit entirely in the notification bar)". It happens when I try to do a complete titanium backup (for all system data+user apps).
Common any opinions? Im really worried.
So i've done a nandroid backup with clockwork mod 2.5.0.7 and its corrupted as well. Just after it finished the backup, I mounted in usb mass storage mode and went to check the md5 images, they are corrupted. I'm going to make a final repartition today with g-parted, and if it's not gonna work then I will probably switch to my old class 2 card that came with the phone, I'm only dissapointed that I cannot prove this SD card I recently got is broken, the fat32 is working but sd-ext has problems, they probably won't believe this and won't replace it
I flashed the root66_ATT_I747UCDLK3 image the other night and performed a full factory reset in stock recovery. The 16GB external SD card I've been using for a couple weeks was working fine with TiBu Pro 5.7.2 on multiple ROMs (all JB-based, but on top of ICS firmware of course). Now, with the JB firmware underneath, TiBu appears to "lose" write access to /storage/extSdCard after a couple operations. I was able to restore a handful of APKs from my last backup (FrostyJB v10.1 TMO, with edited build.props), and then I had to force-stop the restore because it hung. When I went back to TiBu and checked the Backup Directory location in Prefs, it said it did not have write access to the directory. I have to unmount and remount the card in order to get the rest of the system to recognize it as writeable again after this (or reboot).
Other applications seem to work just fine with the extSdCard. I'm able to save photos to it, copy files via AFT (I have a Mac), and download via the browser to /storage/extSdCard/Download. Only TiBu seems to have problems. TiBu is able to read/write to the internal SD card with no problems, and I've been able to freeze/unfreeze applications and restore backups of call logs and messages (saved to Dropbox, not the external SD card) without issue, so I don't think it's a problem with TiBu's root permissions.
Anyone else seeing this?
Short of formatting the card with the JB image and testing again, does anyone have any suggestions?
Crap, looks like other apps are starting to have problems with the external SD card. I took it out and ran several copy/delete cycles via an SD card reader on my Mac without issue, so I don't think it's the card itself. I also had no issues with the card using the ICS firmware (even with JB ROMs on top of it).
I've edited the title of the thread. Is anyone have trouble with an external SD card in JB? I've tried formatting it, and that didn't appear to fix the issues.
Some more info. I found an old Class 4 2GB card laying around and TiBu and other apps seem to be able to read/write to it just fine (so far). The 16GB Class 10 card I was using, despite seeming to be fine according to my computer, doesn't work reliably with the phone since I updated to JB. Not sure if the speed of the card has anything to do with this, but is anyone else having trouble with Class 10 cards? If so, how big is your card?
One last update--I reformatted the 16GB Class 10 card using exFAT instead of FAT32. It seems to be happy with it so far. I was able to complete a couple of backups to it with TiBu. I will test it again periodically throughout the evening and report back.
Also, if it fails again later, I will remount the 2GB Class 4 card and do some periodic testing on that to see if it's a situation where things work immediately after mount, but then start failing later. If that's the case, does anyone have any ideas of how to start troubleshooting? Would logcat capture a filesystem being remounted read-only?
I had the same issue but I ended up flashing CWM then TWRP. Now TWRP can see my external and internal.

Thanks for the feedback, but I'm not talking about a recovery having problems with the external SD card. This is applications on the ROM itself.
So far tonight I've run several TiBu forced redo backups and taken several pictures, and they've all worked properly to the external SD card. The computer format to exFAT seems to have helped. I won't call the issue fixed until it works properly for a few days.

is it still good?
I know this should be directed to the twrp forums but I wanted to get feedback from owners of the sprint lg g3 preferably using the CM12.1 android version 5.1.
I have always had this issue where I am unable to flash roms on my external sd card via twrp. Everytime I try (just tried again tonight), after over and hour of restoring, it was only at 10%. When I flash the same rom on the internal sd (memory) it only takes about 10 minutes to accomplish the entire restore, its the same way for backups too. I don't understand why I am unable to do backups and restores from my external sd. It is very inconvienant to keep moving the backups from external to internal and vice versa. Plus, I can never put more than 1 backup on my internal because they take up so much space (roughly 8gb). It doesn't matter what backup rom I flash it does the same thing. Has anyone else been able to flash roms from their external sd card and if so, what did you have to do to get it to work? I have sent my concerns to the twrp team with no replies back. I am just curious if others are having the same problem or if their has been a fix for this.
I am currently on version 2.8.5 of twrp.
Does anyone have any suggestions or feedback on this issue? Thanks
Hey mate,
You could try installing the TWRP version for the G3 from their app, rather than just the generic version for any phone. If that doesn't work, then it sounds like your SD Card could be corrupted. I backup my whole phone to my external SD Card before I flash any updates or anything else, and can install the ROM updates from my SD Card with no problems whatsoever.
All I can really think of is either a new SD Card, or the official TWRP for the G3 from their app.

Thanks for the response. Do you have a G3 also? I have installed the official bumped version of twrp for my sprint phone and am still having issues. Just by curiousity, when you are in twrp, are you able to backup and restore directly to/from the sd card. I do not have any issues with my card other than this, I can transfer and move files, etc. I have noticed though on my 64 gb scandisk card that when it first boots up, it will say not able to retrieve location. I put a different card in the phone and that message stopped which makes me believe it has something to do with the card. That location message just started about a month or two ago.

It turns out that it was something to do with the external SD card. I replaced it with a brand new card and i am able to backup and restore to/from the external card with twrp.
