[Q] Easiest way to convert F180K to English version - LG Optimus G (International)

Hello,
I am using LG Optimus G Kirean version for over 6 months. Phone/Battery life everything is great. Recently official kit kat update was released and now it is running KK. The only problem is that as I am using it in Pakistan I can't use Data Network or 3G. I talked to my network operator and they say phone must be converted to English rom then it will work.
The problem is that I am really a noob at this and don't want to brick my phone. So is there any easy and low risk method to convert my phone to English version without losing signals or any other problem. If possible please give a detailed step by step method as I am really new here.
Here are details:
F180-K
Android Version 4.4.2
Kernel Version 3.4.0
Build Number KOT49I.F180K30c

That is answer from someone at the network operator who not know the anything about the phone or data in general.
You just need the setting for data network to make it work Data & 3G will work on the same Korean rom however no operator video call because that feature is specific to Korean operator in the Korean rom.
There are many guides available in the forum and making Backup of your phone is a good idea before doing anything

Well I have done settings multiple time and settings are 100% correct however data or 3g doesn't work. They say that this phone stores settings in Korean at the backend and network can't read it.

Basically i did setting my operator apn to make it works (calls and Data) in Indonesia. Currently im using korean version F180L.
Sent from my LG-F180L using XDA Free mobile app

Thanks a lot. I was about to give up. Then I tried one more time for APN and it works now

Check for 3G bands in 3845#*180#
You should be GSM 900/1800 for Calling and
UMTS 2100 for 3G
And setting should be WCDMA preffered or GSM/WCDMA

Section for Optimus TrueHD LTE (P936)

Hi all. Since the LG Optimus TrueHD LTE has now came out in some regions of Europe and more others to come next, it would be useful if we could create a section of the forum dedicated to this phone. It maybe similar to the Nitro HD but since it is model P936 some things are different it would justify a dedicated section. So if anyone agrees just leave your thoughts.
Greetings

As far as we know, there are no hardware differences between the LG Nitro HD (P930) and the P936. The ROMs are the same, so we should not split the forums.
Can flash p930rom to p936??

Yes, the people with the telus p936 have done so without issues

The LTE frequencies on the Nitro HD are different from the ones on the TrueHD. And the TrueHD comes stock with Android 2.3.6 and a different version of the Optimus UI. There are quite some differences between the two phones even though they look similar in hardware.

Don't know about the LTE frequency of Telus but if it is P936 it maybe on of the same of the TrueHD. However there are some region specific settings that come with such specific roms.
A reason to create a separate section (like the one for the Optimus LTE) would be to help european users of the TrueHD LTE to get specific support for this device with the roms for the European carriers and countries.
Maybe a single post dedicated to it could be enough but in my opinion it is very useful to have a dedicated section for it.

No, they are identical devices (hardware). The only difference is the antennae they have installed for LTE. This site has never split a device forum based only on differences in antennae. That would be ridiculous. (There would be 5 times as many subforums if they did that.)
Differences in default software don't warrant separate subforums either.

The LU-6200 actually has hardware differences compared to the P930. The kernels are not compatible between the two devices, for example. On the other hand, everything about the P936 is (to the best of our knowledge at this time) totally compatible with P930 and P935.

The Telus phone is P935, not P936.
not 100% even till now no method to root p936 even use the 930 tools
If they are same hardware , any suggestion that can root P936
you might have to wait until another version of superoneclick comes out that supports your phone. Another thing that COULD work but might be risky is flashing an older KDZ from a p930 that is rootable. I don't know if your radio would work with the other KDZ, but if you could re-flash your original baseband, it COULD work.

However I can not start the phone.
It stopped at "lg optimus lte" Logo stage.
How can I root it or flash rootable rom?
How to insert unlock code
I have a LG P936 (almost the same as P930 but a Portuguese version) which is locked to Vodafone Portugal.
I've seen that this mobile phone can be unlock via IMEI, if I buy the unlock code. By this method I should insert it when the mobile phone ask for a unlock code.
Well, to try I've inserted a non allowed SIM but my mobile phone doesn't ask for this unlock code. But It still doesn't connect to the network, so I believe it is really locked.
I would like to know if anyone have the same problem or if knows how to insert this code?
PS: My LG p936 have the Cyanogenmod cm10.1.3-RC1.

Finally I solved this problem. I think I was not allowed to insert the unlock code because I had the Cyanogenmod installed. I have done the following steps:
- Download and install the stock factory rom: "HO!NO!_Rom_Bell_Optimus_LTE-P936_Full_stock_signed" and installed it normally by ClockworkMod Recovery
- Install the LG B2CAppSetup, connect with the phone and update to the last version (in this case, V20C = Android 4.0.4"
- Dial 2945#*936# and VOILÁ: The unlock secret menu is now displayed.
I think the main problem is the cyanogenmod which doesn't allow to access to the unlock secret menu.
Now Just buy an unlock code via ebay, for example, it costs $1.89 and you have your mobile phone unlocked.

Does anyone know what does pressing the volume buttons simultaneously do?

[Q] Help with F180L on US T-Mobile

Hi,
I've got a brand new F180L phone with baseband version APQ8064/MDM9x15M and software F180L20s.
After searching forums I still cannot make heads or tails of this phone...
My questions are:
Can this phone be flashed to work on US T-Mobile network?
If yes, what is the maximum data rate possible?
Is there a good tutorial on how to do it? It appears this phone can be hard bricked by flashing wrong radio so I would like to avoid such mistakes.
I live in the "upgraded" area with 1900MHz frequency re-purposed.
Thanks in advance!

Hi there,
I am having the F180L and have flashed the E975 european version on it. It is working as good as stock, no issues so far in India with 3G, HSPDA or 2G (we dont have 4G yet). And ofcourse, all korean crap gone
The process is failrly simple, you just need to read through the forums, there is everything written here.
From here you can find the ROM's just pick one near to you; may be Europen E975 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2093382
Then use kdz to flash it on to your phone. No need to root your phone or else. Use google to find how to.
Root your phone
Then flash baseband of F180L;

I hope it helped

LG E975 - No LTE Option

Hello Everyone,
Hopefully this issue can be solved, as I'm using stock Android JB 4.1.2 (E97510h-EUR-XX) on my device and there is no LTE option in:
- System Settings> More...> Mobile Networks> Network Mode
Now, I believe it can be enabled by making a change to persist.radio.lteon as found here:
However, it requires root access and as far as I'm aware, there is no root exploit for E97510h-EUR-XX at this time:
- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2163814&page=5
Here are my questions:
1. Is there any method to replace or edit persist.radio.lteon without rooting my device?
2. If 1 is not an option, is there any method to successfully root my device?
3. If 2 is possible, can I unroot and will this process be undetectable?
Any help is much appreciated :good:

He hasn't bought a Korean Optimus G, but an E975. But for some reason if you put a SIM card from one carrier in the phone you cannot choose LTE, but if you put in a SIM from a different carrier you get the option to choose LTE. That's because LG has had the brilliant idea to block LTE for some carriers on an LTE enabled phone.
You can try contacting LG so they release an update so that LTE will be enabled for your carrier, but it would be faster to root your phone and adjust the build.prop like you said in the first post.

Why bother putting Korean software on your European phone and risk having a bad experience (due to the fact that Korean software is guess what optimized for Korean carriers)? When you can just root your device and change the build .prop which is less trouble and less risky to perform than to put a Korean software on it.
But to answer the question of the TS. You can root the E975 10 H firmware. I used Framaroot, and it works fine. You can read all about in the thread FAQ (Freaking Annoying Questions) in the Q and A section.

risky ? how can be risky .. so people here happily flashing third party roms and that's alright and when try to use original official rom then is risky ????! man are you OK?
optimized for their carriers ? no .. only APPS are included .. and those apps can be easily ignored ..
i think that your buildprop editing is risky .. ordinary people wont be messing with customizing files
wait for carrier till end of march then
I dont need to read nothing for me all working am enjoying LTE(4G) u dont it is your problem what u do ..
do what u want ..
Chill out dude. I'm only trying to help the TS out. He didn't ask anything about flashing a ROM, only to solve his problem with or without root.
Flashing any custom ROM is more risky than rooting a device. As it involves more steps then just rooting. So why make it hard for yourself?
Flashing a Korean ROM would mean flashing a KDZ file (that's the way I changed the E975 10 H back to E975 10 D) and that process probably changes the baseband of your phone(which is not the right one for the E975), so it could definitely influence the experience and battery life, etc.
You say that ordinary people won't mess with the build.prop file but they won't have any problem with flashing a Korean ROM?
BTW: There is no need in quoting the very last post everytime you make a comment, as it is clear what you're replying on.

That quote button has reason to be there .. that is why am using it ... And people know which answer belongs to particular person ..
for me is easy flash kdz ... and then obviously u need to flash modem back .. that is not hard too ..
And u are right in only one thing .. yes when people changing roms flashing then phone drains battery .. yes when I converted to E975 my F180S battery was very very bad .. I flashed original korean back and battery is much much better .
Like I said you can try korean if no leave it and wait for carrier to sort it out .. but they have time tho
No one here recommends to flash korean kdz in international versions nd vice versa too... Try some othr rooting methods nd try to change the build.prop.... Have yu tried moto chopper root method...??
Edit: looks lyk moto chopper method doesn't help yu... Yu cant yu downgrade ur software nd root it....

Updating E986 with the official 'kitkat' 4.4.2 Firmware Release

edit:
Lg Server is up again:
here the official E986 kitkat 4.4.2 update:
http://csmgdl.lgmobile.com/dn/downloader.dev?fileKey=FW428306432109876543213/E98620A_00.kdz
Some of the things you will get with this E986 firmware upgrade :
+ support for a large number of european languages
+ well working samba server
+ well working Windows "LG On-Screen Phone"
+ knock-off screen
+ free 50 gb cloud storage at "box" and other goodies when registering at "LG Smart World" app
+ adaptive network settings tailored on measure for the european provider landscape .
(There are user reports indicating that LTE services of some smaller providers are not integrated into the system yet)
please see post #4, #5 for further informations as well as cloud storage links to the E986 upgrade
Some general Information:
A majority of the posts here and in other gpro threads come from people that apparently dont use this device .
It is one of the sequels of swiss government's/parapolice's sell-out of LG stakes that they were once keeping. Unfortunately along with this my wife is kept now for the 15th consecutive year fully illegally imprisoned at the vienna airport(where i am right now)
...guess I had to give you an idea where most of the absurdity in this thread comes from.
Sorry
what is the fewest sour kitkat on e986?
deleted:
explanation in the following post
A turkish e986 kitkat update seems to be published.
Where is it available?
Since the e986 update situation is still rather difficult, it would be fine to have a place where relevant information is neatly collected and displayed.
edit:
As reported by smartphenom.com the update was already published in mid july.
Some bizare internet users (but certainly not GPro owners) called it "turkish rom", so that many GPro owners (like myself ) wouldn't be aware of it.
At least we know now for certain that LG did the job and some other bizare people that wanted to harm us E986 owners for reasons we will never understand tried (and still try) to hide it.
luckily this thread is at the point of getting pointless:
here is the inofficial release of the first official e986 kitkat firmware (it supports an amazingly large number of european languages )
the precise version denomination:
E98620a-EUR-XX
From my dropbox:
E98620A_00.kdz
From my Mega account:

to get a data/internet connection:
Settings->Tethering & networks->Mobile networks->Access point names->tap menu button->chose "New APN"->fill in the first 2 lines:
do not think too much about it, the software does it for you as soon as there is anything filled into the first 2 lines of the access point settings form;
try something like: mydata
then tap menu button and "save".
note :
APN settings can be easily cleared to prevent unwanted [costly] data connections --> your GPro will then behave like a traditional GSM phone.
let me say the official e986 kitkat update is really good
[and..we all know by now how much better life would taste without illegal preservatives (police ****)]
in case the LG server is too busy:

Sent from my LG-E986 using XDA Free mobile app
well..
according to my personal experience the data partition will not be overwritten by the LG update software. This is also the reason why a full reset after flashing might help if something doesn't work as it should.
So... it is certainly a good idea to backup as well and as much as possible beforehand.
Hello i flashed the KK rom, but now i have no lte. It is showing that i can only connect with 2g and 3g. Is there a solution?
Thx in advance

With Jelly-Bean and Kitkat E-986 stock firmware the 4g option will only show up when your sim-card is allowed to hook into the LTE service.

Now i flashed E98820a...kdz, i got 4 g here.
But only can choose english as language setting.
There must be another reason, why the 4g option isnt present on E98620a turkish rom.

Yes. As it is a flash by lgflashtool it should wipe anything . Dont think you need to do a manual format be4 flashing.

The taiwanese kitkat E98820a seems to me much more faster and smoother
smoother than the turkish kitkat E98620a. But this is my private opinion ?
Sorry, I don't know , but . . .

What I definitely could observe is that the network settings menu on e986 stock kitkat changes with different network providers.
i.e with hutchinson "3" in Austria which doesn't provide 2g/GSM in the more populated areas [and switches to 2G only on the countryside], the "2G only" options disappear from the network settings menu and the network mode pop-up window. [To display them as non available would be more customer friendly, I guess]
Anyway I can't believe that there are GPro users who honestly believe being better off in Europe with a taiwanese firmware.

I agree with you as being French (provider Orange) i had no problem with turkish rom......I do have 4G and french language ! All i had to do was to fix the APN, that's all ! I don't understand why LG don't officialy upgrade this phone to kit kat ! I had to flash it beacuse i couldn't use my brand new watch R with it !

According to smartphenom.com the firmware was released on july 17, 2014 for the original 'Aturbk' package.
Since people called it consequently "turkish rom" instead of "first firmware release" LG didn`t get any support from the users to withstand the pressure from those police/stasi weirdos that messed up this thing.
I guess in our own interest we shouldn't call this official release "rom" anymore if we want LG to link it to all the other original packages.

What have you done? Did you flash E98620a or E98820a?
If you flash E98620a (turkish) then you might wont see 4g option.
If you flash E98820a (asian) then you will get 4g option but only english language
and some asian languages

[Q] No sim detected

Hay guys i just recently flashed my g2 ls980 with stock zve firmware. Everything us working fine except that sim is not being detected no matter what i try. I am really confused as i am a total newbie and am unable to understand technical stuff.
With stock ZVE (that's pure Sprint stock) which SIM are you referring to because with that stock ROM on the Sprint G2 the only SIM card that will ever be recognized at all will be one from Sprint to enable LTE network support.
So... I don't like to assume things, hence the question: what SIM card are you talking about?
The LS980, aka the Sprint G2 variant and the same phone I have, is network locked aka SIM locked to Sprint only if you're running a pure stock ROM which is exactly what ZVE is. The only ways to get the SIM unlocked for other network operation would be a) do a somewhat complicated set of tasks to get it to work (not worth the hassles really and certainly beyond your admitted "newbie" status with respect to this level of tech) or b) install a custom ROM like CloudyG2 (the name just changed today, prior it was known as CloudyG3 but that confused people with the LG G3 and they were trashing their phones trying to install it - it's a G2 ROM ported from the actual G3).
There are other ROMs as well that unlock the LS980 for GSM operation aka regular SIM cards, you may end up using one of them to get proper GSM functionality - LTE support is spotty depending on the networks in your area and the Sprint G2 only supports a few LTE network bands.
Thank you very much for your reply @br0adband. I was able to use my GSM (telenor) sim again but i encountered some problems. Here is the link to my post:
