Hello all.
One year ago i had problem with my signal in my note 2 and i went to a service center and they update my note to Android 4.3 (N7100XXUEMJ9) and from that point, I can't receive any update for any firmware. I would like to update to 4.4.2 but i am afraid to void Knox Warranty if i do it with Odin. I am not sure which version should i choose? I bought the phone from Greece (Cosmote) and now i use it in London (Three). The service one year ago done in London Service Center.
My exactly model is:
GT-N7100
4.3
N7100XXUEMJ9 (Baseband Version)
3.0.31-213*** (Kernel version)
JSS15J.N7100XXUEMK9 (Build Number)
Can someone guide me how to update to 4.4.2 without having any problem with Knox and without destroy my note 2??
Thanks a lot!!

Try checking for firmware update using kies.
Note that some variants of the note 2 still don't have the KK update. Try checking sammobile.com ^^

There is no reason to upgrade unless you are really tired of 4.3 or you are feeling a little mischievous.
Whatever the reason, I guess I should warn you beforehand. If something goes wrong, for instance, 'no network signal,' going back to 4.3 will not be possible (at least in its true form - you will be stuck with 4.4 bootloader forever).
Also, you suggest your phone is a year old. Understandably, you are out of warranty already. Knox shouldn't be a problem.
However, if you really care about Knox for some reason, then doing an OTA update or an update via Kies is your closest option.
Using ODIN will trip the Knox counter whether you flash stock 4.4 or modified 4.4.
About ROM, if you have international galaxy note 2 (GT-N7100 ) as you have clearly mentioned, you can flash any European Stock ROM. Best would be to choose the ROM from Greece or England.
Hope I have allayed all you fears.
Press thumps up if you found this suggestion helpful.

You can harass the Samsung folks in London. Ask them to troubleshoot your problem - just for kicks maybe.
There is a method via Kies to initialize software upgrade. But it is known to cause problem - like softbrick and all.
So wait it out till July and your phone will be ready to roll.

The I435 is not the same as the I919x phones. Since it's verizon, it uses CDMA technology rather than GSM. I think it may work with GSM carriers outside of the US but I'm not sure.
Since the phone hardware is different than the I9195 I dont think flashing that firmware would be a good idea.
I'm not sure about the other questions. The phone may be able to be unlocked but I haven't seen any info on that.
Apparently the only way to root the SCH-I435 is using kingo which is apparently sending the imei of the phone to China. They released a new version that's supposed to not do anything sketchy, but I have yet to see any threads with confirmation. Best bet is to wait it out until other methods are ready...

Depending on your baseband you can root using the this method: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2565758
You must be on baseband MK5 for it to work.
Just a heads up, I rooted with geohots towelroot (xda thread , towelroot homepage). It was quick, very easy and doesn't trip knox.
Edit: Oh and I was on kitkat 4.4.2, verizon s4 mini (sch-i435).
But what about the bootloader? Has it ever been unlocked? I need to install CWM and CyanogenMod on the S4 Mini.
Or can it just be rooted, and not bootloader unlocked?

I do know out of Experience that the CWM recovery for the serranoltexx should work on most i435 variants. how ever before you try it please make sure that the phone is a serranoltexx varient such as the i435l or such.

I'd be interested to know if anyone had gotten this to work as well as I too would love to get mine rooted. I'm not hopeful though as I haven't found anything online and Verizon really locked this phone down. The only other Android device I have is a Nexus 10, so rooting that was a piece of cake!
Hello! I received a replacement for a TMO Samsung Galaxy S3 for a S3 LTE (. It did an auto upgrade to 4.3. Because that v is a POS I rooted 4.3 with Odin3 (v3.09) and root66 tar. NOW I find out that there is an upgrade to 4.4 for the S3 LTE (or all S3s I assume) and I am in a dilemma if I should back out of root; how difficult would that be; allow the 4.4 upgrade; and then re-root?
Give me your thoughts, advice, emoji and pats on my girlie head.

You now have an s3 LTE, aka sgh-i747?
I recommend getting back to stock and upgrade to 4.4.2 via ota updates. This is the slowest but safest method to install the updated boot loader and modem.
Once you are fully updated, you can flash a custom recovery and root by flashing supersu in recovery. Flashing a custom recovery will trip Knox and set the warranty bit to 1 and this will void your Samsung warranty.
Crap. I am lost. Newb Jr.
First, I have attached the image from About to verify the stats.
Second, can you tell me what your recommendation is to back out of root (having used Odin3 + root66 tar to stock?
I am hoping that once I return to stock, upgrade, I will root again using the same method. Let me know if that all makes sense.

sorry, double post. Don't see how I can delete the one without the quote.
Sorry, I re-read your post. You used to have an LTE s3 (sgh-i747) and now have an T999. I guess I was too tired when I read your post.
I'm not sure that there is anything beyond 4.3 for the T999. The latest for the s3 LTE is 4.4.2.
Even T-Mbile's Note 2 is stuck on 4.3 while other Note 2 carriers have moved to 4.4.2.
My current device is the LTE that replaced the S3 (not LTE). The (HUGE, sorry) image of the About is my current device.

I believe all s3s carried by T-Mobile, AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Videotron, etc. are LTE-capable.
If your phone is the T-mobile version of the s3, I don't think there is a 4.4.2 update or stock ROM for the phone.
My carrier is TMO - there is the S3 T999 (not LTE capable) and there is an S3 T999L (LTE). I updated to Jelly Bean / 4.3, then rooted with Odin (mainly to manage bloatware, pre-installed, etc.) So if I understand you correctly, you do not believe that Kit Kat is even available for the S3 T999L? I checked for a software update through the device and received the message that "since my phone had been altered, the software update will not install." Understand why I would receive that message, however, I made the assumption that 4.4 must be the update. If so, I would back out of root, upgrade to 4.4 - re-root.
If you are saying that 4.4 is NOT available for my phone, then I will keep my device rooted over 4.3

This is the latest firmware for your phone from sammobile.com: http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/download/35794/T999LUVUBNF4_T999LTMBBNF4_TMB/
It was released in June 2014. The mk4 firmware on your phone was released in December 2013.
If you think there is a Kit Kat update, you could use Odin to flash back to stock mk4 firmware and run the OTA updates which should take you to at least NF4 firmware.
Thanks, @audit13!

I recently got my S6 back from Samsung. They untripped knox, and installed a very slim rom without any of the sprint bloatware, and no sprint splash screen. Is there some way I can back up this rom to be able to flash it in odin if/when I need to?
Thanks!

You can back up everything if you flash TWRP recovery and select the backup option it comes in hand but other than that i dont believe you can do it without tripping Knox again
Thanks for the reply, that's unfortunate news. I really don't feel like tripping Knox since I would like samsung pay to continue working.

Just tell them you took it to the samsung experience shop at "BestBuy" and they tried to flash the operating system to get the phone working properly again. Id tell them it kept rebooting after you updated it through wifi to 5.1.1 . Youll never have an issue with them if you explain it to them that way . Give us a new build lol

Just received a 144 MB OS update for my unlocked international S6 edge+ 64GB 928C phone
Changelog:
- The stability of call has been improved
- Battery Usage Optimization
- The security of your device has been improved
- After updating, you will not be able to downgrade to the old software because of updates to the security policy
Edit: New update is out with more stability improvements and better battery performance - AOJ6:

g928F no software update here.
First thing I noticed is that now the battery drain on standby is fixed! Usually my battery life would drain from 100% to 70% in 2 hours even if I don't touch the phone! Now I went to the Gym and the battery life was 100%, finished the Gym after 2 hours and the battery life is still 97%!! This is how this phone should be.
Didn't experience the freezing bug so far but I guess this is too soon to judge yet as I had just done a factory reset after the firmware update just to ensure everything is 100% right.
This software update is obviously not for European handsets or am i missing something?
Can anyone confirm they were able to root in the new software?

Are you serious? How does that work?
When you trip the Knox void counter actual damage is occuring. What happens is a tiny pathway is physically burned into halves and is no longer making a completed circuit, thus throwing a flag or tripping the KNOX. It would theoretically be possible to repair the damage and restore the counter back to zero. Given a very skilled and educated person.
