not exactly "disabling" it, but you can pause it
open up s-health, go to the pedometer section, hit the settings button "pause pedometer"
if you happen to have a device (watch/band/etc) that can count steps, i would think you can use the "Switch device" option at that same menu and select that device, then just never sync it.. that _should_ effectively turn off the pedometer on the phone *shrugs*

Thanks alot

anyone know how to change out S-Voice to the google voice function?

I dont like s-voice, I would like to double tap have the google voice pop up, anyone know how to go about this?
Disable the double click in S-Voice.
Download Home2Shortcut from the Play Store.
Follow the steps in that app.
Hit the Thanks Button for me.
Enjoy.

Same thing works with the Bluetooth Launch app, download it, then select Voice Search, then select .com.Google.android.voicesearch.recognitionactivity.
Now, double tap the home key, and it should prompt you for which app you would like to open voice search with. Naturally, select Google Voice after checking the use this program by default checkbox.

OK, but how do I get the command search, it only brings up the search bar making have to once again press the mic to use the voice function. I would like the Command voice to come up. I'm not sure what it's called, but it the thing that pops up once you hit the mic on the search bar. lol
also, anyway to have voice come up on log press, and app switcher on double press?

This option only brings up the google search bar, which forces you to tough the mic again.

Yes you must have S-Voice on for double tap option. Sorry, left that out. I flashed google now, and took it off because it forces the fix I just told you about to quit working, the only thing that will come up on the double tap after that is voice dialer. It's a deal breaker for me, it will honestly keep me from going to JB until there is a fix! Be sure to use the thanks button!
does Google now remember relationships like "mom" or "wife" and can I have google now "send text to my wife"?
In Home 2 Shortcut, under step one, set application to Voice Search.
Now when you double click your home key, it'll start to listen right away.
FYI, my S-Voice double click is still disabled.

question, do you use the stock launcher? in Home2 shortcut, "Voice Search" is not a listed application as Samsung chose to hide it. Any shortcuts/tricks I can do?

[Q] 'complete this action using....'

why do we keep getting this option when accessing the internet from our phones? u can choose internet, chrome, youtube etc...then it asks if it should access the 'net the same way, each time?
also, why do i keep seeing an 'eye' at the top of my screen from time to time? it is on the screen for a very quick second and then disappears???
If you hit the "Just Once" button, you will have to hit it every time. If you hit the "Always use" (or whatever the verbiage is), it will always use that one, without prompting you.
The eye is for the face detect function, to see if you're looking at the screen for the rotation and/or screen off functions. It can be turned off in the motion menu I think.

Any idea how to enable/show accessibility Services?

I have the Joying KK unit, and when I was trying out light flow app on it, I realized that this set does not show the accessibility/services option at all in settings.. so there's no way to let Light flow to be enabled in accessibility.
Anyone has had any idea how to enable accessibility of apps on this unit?

Start a new task in Tasker. Add task: Plugin, Secure Settings, Configuration, System+ Actions, Accessibility Services. Select the service you want from the drop down menu. Tap button for Enabled. Tap the save icon up top. Back out to Task Edit screen. Hit the play button, Done. Only needs to be done once.

It didn't get the job done.
After doing what you said, I opened the app (the one to which I wanted to grant accessibility service access) and tapped on the accessibility service button and then, the app crashed.
It doesn't even work for the Tasker itself. Tasker doesn't run tasks which need accessibility service.

Phone automatically going into "do not disturb" mode.

I'm missing calls and texts because my phone is going into do not disturb, seemingly randomly. All 3 default automatic rules (weekend, weeknight, and event) are set to off. Anyone got some advice?

My first guess would be that you are pressing the volume down button when you are in vibration mode.

Negative. It happens whilst just sitting on my desk (as well as other times...in my pocket, sitting in the cup-holder in my car, etc.).

I don't see a "moto actions" in the menu, but settings > sound and options > do not disturb access > there's a moto actions in there which was turned on. Turned it off. Hope that was it. Thank you.

Quick way turn on/off AOD?

I like AOD and i have it on as default. However, when I'm at work I don't need to have it on since I can see my notifications & calls from the computer (using Join extensions & app). I tried messing around with Tasker but unable to accomplish anything so far. Do you guys know any quick way to turn on/off AOD without having to go into the display settings?
Edit - Found an app that let me toggles AOD
App is called "Tiles". There's a tile in the app called "Always On", switch it on, then run this adb command to allow the app make secure setting changes: adb shell pm grant com/rascarlo.quick.settings.tiles android.permission.WRITE_SECURE_SETTINGS
Link to app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rascarlo.quick.settings.tiles
One workaround. Pull town quick tiles, touch menu (gear to right of date), then in search box type "ambient", that will let you choose "Battery > Ambient Display". It takes long steps the first time. Next time just pull down tiles, touch gear, touch search bar, touch "ambient" (that stays in list), touch home button. It seems the 2XL keeps the last five searches.
There may be a better way, but I have not found it yet. Been trying to do it with Tasker and maybe a plugin, but nothing yet.

I have Tiles, granted permission through ADB, and the Ambient Display toggle does nothing.
Edit: It turns on and off the "New notification - wake screen when you receive notifications" setting. Not the Always On setting..
Edit 2: You need to use the Always On tile and not Ambient Display. Works well!

If you could, please provide a link to "Tiles". I tried searching for it in the Play Store and most of the hits are games.
I'm trying to find a solution to my phone screen turning off when it's plugged in and a call comes in. Maybe this is the fix I've been looking for.

Here you go: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rascarlo.quick.settings.tiles
You can also squeeze your phone/activate assistant and say "turn always on display off"
Tasker does work, try the "custom setting" option.
