Camera app replacement
Hey guys, thanks for the Carbon Rom - looks real good, is nice & fast.
I have one question.
I've installed Google Camera and I liked it better than default CM one. I tried to freeze CM camera so that Google Camera would be default everywhere, but pressing hardware camera button doesn't work (there is only a one-time vibro, camera doesn't launch, when CM is defrost it launches, obviously).
Is there any way I can set Google Camera to launch via hardware button? I'd like to delete CM camera to keep everything neat & tidy.

Problem with Carbon rom
Hi, I'm new at this and I had a problem when I installed your rom on my Xperia S. I managed to root it and install CWM perfectly... But when I flashed your rom, without any problems, and tried to reboot, the phone never rebooted. I just stays with the screen off and when I press the power on button for a while it only vibrates and that's it. I used to have the official Xperia 4.1.2 rom. HELP!!!!

If unlocked bootloader, maybe you should flash tft.
You can have a look at the main thread someone has the same problem....

I'm trying to build carbon rom for aoba (Ion), I have ths error :

I think this problem is known.
Which earphones are you using?
I think newer ones are not supported because of missing drivers but i am not sure.

Is it hard to make hdmi support? I use 4.1 only for hdmi. There are another 4.4 roms with hdmi, but carbon is best.

Yes it is hard to support hdmi since, afaik, there was no proper support built for it in the sources used by carbon.

build fails on OMX codec
Hi all!
Has anyone tried to build the ROM from sources?.. well I have and it fails while building the obj for OMXCodec --> OMXCodec.cpp:4569 --> frameworks/av/media/libstagefright/OMXCodec.cpp:4569:11: error: 'OMX_AUDIO_PARAM_FLACTYPE' has no member named 'nBitsPerSample'
If anyone met the same problem and fixed it, please share the fix/work-around.
So far i've edited OMX_Audio.h and inserted an OMX_U32 nBitsPerSample var in the OMX_AUDIO_PARAM_FLACTYPE struct.
It compiles on, but i'm not sure this is Ok.

Yeah well I tried to build it too yesterday evening, but I'm not getting any error nor the output zip file! Where did You find the error?

Mmmm... I don't really remember.
I was building the project just like in the 'how to' (I mean literally, step-by-step), and it just crashed at that point.
However, it turns out that there is another external module that is not supported and should not even be in the sources. Let me know if you encounter the same problems.

I have been using this rom for about a month now, good so fare.
But since a couple of days I'm starting to have some bugs (like the music lagging and even stopping when I'm doing other things on my phone) and some lags from time to time. Sometimes it's really smooth, but most of the time it's very slow and not confortable to use.
Any ideas how I could speed it up and make it smoother ? I already overcloked it

Unfortunately I cannot reply in the original thread because I have less than 10 posts so far ....
I installed the version DarkCM v9.00-2014/11/09-Final on my i8150 yesterday (full wipe, clean install) and it's running great, BUT: one major glitch: it shows the available space on sdcard0 as 15GB used and 15GB free although the i8150 has only 1.7GB. When I move Apps to the sdcard and restart the phone the app icons are gone! I have to manually put them back onto the pages, but after the next restart they are gone again. So I had to move all apps to the internal storage which limits the available space for more apps.
Thanks for letting us use new Android firmware on our old phone! Maybe you have time to take a deeper look into this problem and fix it. Thanks again, sihui

Swap mem & Blur notification panel
Since updating to this final ROM, I can't find a way to swap my external memory. I've try to edit my build.prop but still has no effect.
my second problem is I can't make my notification panel blur. I thing that feature from past update of this ROM is awesome. I've read that this features are still available on Final ROM. anyone can help me?

Not like I ever come around here, and this is probably late too, but you need the SD as FAT32 because exFAT doesn't work.

The recommended gapps auto dl's. I tested them last night.

Easy flash. Runs great. No problems so far. By far the easiest flash and smoothest ROM Ive used in a while. Excellent work.

Camera can't respond
From the front facing camera you can't take more then two selfies before it stops working back camera will work from another app like Instagram

If you see any blank fields don't worry we just haven't implemented that feature yet. It'll come.

Camera is a known issue on a lot of lp Roms. I use google camera issue free.

So much thanks to OP for his help, but in not done complaining because I need to know if this truly is a perfect rom... There seems to be a faint green color that appears on my screen and at first I thought it was my phone but then I rebooted and it was normal again is this a bug or a bigger issue?

]I'm a bit confused. Do I install the TBO Gapps or install the recommended Gaps that was previously here for this update (5.1.1)? Also to update from 9.2 to 9.3 is it recommended that I wipe then install a fresh 9.3 rom or can it be flashed over?

Enjoying the latest 9.6 but having an issue with LTE .. using straight talk..

Hey I am completely noob at this I have been getting by with google and leaps of faith rn and I have a few questions that I couldn't find anywhere
But first may I say I love you so much My phone is a amazingly fast now and I am out of jelly bean now.:
1. Battery life- It is now realllly bad I have tried the calibrate thing that you are supposed to do but its some times so bad that when I put my charger and charge it still discharges and only goes back up after it hits 15% or so...This did not happen in jelly bean so just curious is there anything I can do ?
2.Boot time- It takes an awfully long time to boot and once it is booted 30 seconds later it goes back into showing Samsung logo and then 15 seconds of that it goes to the home screen
3.Optimizing apps- Every time I restart it says optimizing apps some times its 94 or times 12 or 46 idk what that is about or if that is supposed to happen
4.DU-updater - I am guessing this is how I am supposed to update. Not entirely sure how though I think I have to download it and then goto twrp and flash it there. not entirely sure...
5.Overheating- The top part of my phone is getting scary hot . I cant touch it for more than 45 seconds. I dont know why I have done everything like I am supposed to and everything else works...
6.OS- Where is it exactly ? Is it on my sd card ? I know I installed it from my sd card and I think it is installed it to the internal storage ... I am not exactly sure and I am scared to take out my sd card ... Also is it safe to move the backed up version of my phone onto my desktop to save space on my phone ?
7. Camera- I noticed that the camera software on my friends phone who were on the lolipop touchwiz camera was clearly much better as I was on jelly bean and I was wondering if the software I have for the camera is on the same level as theirs ? Sorry if it is a confusing question!
I am running a theme and nova launcher on top of the OS could this be a reason be a reason for any of these problems ?
But other than that everything works great and I love you so much man!!!!!! You are a genius. Sorry if I asked dumb questions this is the first time I have successfully done this !!!

I have just flashed this ROM, OTG is working for me. I transferred data to and from OTG Flash Drive.
The only issue is I cant set external storage as default for apps and data.

I want to swap external sd card to internal, but i cant
It is impossible to use external sd card as internal. And it is frustrating because our mate has only 4 GB internal memory available. Link2SD app is also not working.

My Notification bar stopped working, in the form of not bneing able to open the quick settings. And the home button isnt working either, tho i did install lots of themes and other apps, so i dont know if its just me or if its the ROM.

Just to say, it is an excellent ROM, I have the mate model with 1 GA of ram, and this rom is very smooth and responsive, kudos for the author and shame on Huawei for not supporting it phones.

Hi all, in the defaut ROM I have the Option in the Storage Manager to set the Default Storage Location from Intern to Extern. Where I can find the Option in this ROM? Do I have to use this? adb shell pm setInstallLocation 2 (0 for internal)?

Is this rom finished? Or do you update it from time to time if you see a good update from one of the other roms you used to build this from?

Coming from cynogenmod this rom is dope ? but im going to wait for 12.1 before its my daily driver .

RAM issues
After using this rom for a week, I can say it is very stable and has an awesome battery performance. The main problem here (same at CM 12) is the use of RAM. When I play some music, connected to a bluetooth device, using Google Play music app or Chrome and I browse the web, music stops suddenly and I need to go to the app in use to play it again. It doesn't happen on my Moto X 2013 running Lollipop soak test. Is there a way to solve this problem?

Install over my old crdroid 5.0.2 backup, boot great, performance and stability are there with the new Android 5.1.1r3,

I flashed gapps 5.1.1 and still Google play services fc'ing. I can't seem to find multi window?? Is it not on this ROM?

Hi - Just installed this - sort of a noob - was on crDroid_444 but wanted to try this on LP - installed the 5.1.1_r3 and noticed the crDroid custom tab is not present or missing from settings - did I do something wrong? Shouldn't it be there? Also the superuser tab seems to be missing from settings too but turned on root for apps-only at dev_options and this seemed to at least allow for root access. I guess I can always download SU from playstore. Wanted to try some crD custom options but can't find them. I can see this is sort of yr old now but thought it a good next step crD on LP for a spell. Is this just not working? Since I was coming from what I perceived another rom (444) I did an adv wipe first before to install this including system wipe - might this have caused the crD tab to go missing? If this is dead again any suggests for LP custom rom to try coming from crD_444? Many thanks!
