i want to fully apply themes from other roms but the thing i think that is stopping me is that toggles for wifi and silent mode etc. any way to remove them
Do you mean that you want to remove the notification bar on top? Risky business.

No, he wants to remove the WLAN/GPS toggle..
But he wrote that
I dont know anything about howto remove/change them.. AFAIK you cannot change the toggles (or not very easy).
You have 3 options :
1. Smali edit it
2. Apktool edit the layout xml's to make toggle property invisible/gone
3. Live with it
You want to REMOVE the toggles in the Notification Bar? I wish i could ADD more toggles in there. Much better than going back to the main screen to change stuff using Extended Controls.
Data Network enabling/disabling would be sweet (and that's the only toggle i'm missing there).
Try quick Desk from the android market.
Thats the best way Ive found.

Hey guys, I know I might be a little picky, but here is my question.
In Jelly bean, the notification bar disappears when you drop down the notification center which only displays the date/settings option and ofcourse the notifications you might have. Notification bar works just fine on the lock screen and mainscreen, however, my theme does not permit me to make it visible on the mainscreen. This was not a problem on ICS, as the notification bar showed up just fine even with the notification center dropped down.
Is there a solution to this? I would really like to see my notification bar with my drop down center at the same time.
not to be nit picky, but notification center is the iOS copy of the notification panel from android.
Anyways, yes, it does make your notificaiton bar disappear, which is annoying since you dont see your signal, battery level, etc. I havent see anyway around this yet.

Where did iOS randomly come from? lol.
But yes, now we are unable to see signal, battery % etc from the notification drop down.

How are you able to get the notification panel to work on the lockscreen?

Right now my phone is not locked, that's why. But that is not the point, regardless of that I can still see my notification bar (signal/battery etc), I just want that notification bar to be shown when you have your notification center dropped down (this was normal on ICS, but they removed it in JB)

Why does it need to be fixed? You can't live without battery or signal bars for few seconds?
well its a simple reason why they did this. with the notifications pulled down, you don't need to be looking at the top bar because all the notifications are in front of you anyway. and the date and time is also visible in the new notification shade as a bigger font.

What is the point of using Android then, if you cannot customize it to your own personal preference? I just want it to be more convenient. Especially since the only time I can see my notification bar is on the lock screen.....

Well it's not like its going to cause a huge problem if they left the bar as it was in ICS and every other android OS..... I don't particularly care about the date and time, I just want the wifi/3g signals to be clearly visible with other graphic notifications which don't show up in the notification panel drop down.
If u look closely the notification tray actually drops down and on top of the status bar and is partially transparent on the bottom half of the header.. so I think the answer is yes, in time maybe someone will do a fully transparent status bar header(hopefully getting rid of the second clock for my ocdness). Or something...

Yeah I just hope some one has a fix for this soon. I didn't see any reason for them to remove it in the first place.
I did not notice this until you pointed it out... How long do you stay with your notification bar down?

If you read the previous comments, you would see that I have a custom theme, requiring me to drop my notification bar down just to look at it... Or go to lock screen, which is extremely irritating whenever I want to see that useful info on my bar.
Obviously this doesn't apply to everyone, and I understand that. If I knew how to fix this myself, I would but alas I am a noob who is still trying to learn the way of Android

There might be a setting, Expanded Desktop! Turn it off!!!
If you use two fingers to pull the status bar, you can see the remaining battery and the signal at least

Hey,
Does anybody knows if it's possible showing android's notification bar while using fullscreen mode?
I found this cool app called full!screen.
It allows you to use fullscreen mode and gives you 2 buttons on the bottom corners with adjustable size and transparency, one of them is HOME and the other is BACK, you can slide them and get more options like RECENT APPS or canceling the fullscreen mode...
The only thing that missing here is the notification bar, its a deal breaker for me and I really want to use this fullscreen feature.
If there are any ideas please feel free to shoot
Thanks

I've tested several things with stock and Nova, but no luck. I was surprised the nova action for expand notifications wouldn't work. This isn't with the app you mentioned, though, it is with AOSPA and JDX, both of which have full screen options built in. The custom ROMs that have this feature built in typically allow you to show the notification bar. You could combine a custom ROM that allows removal of nav keys without removing status bar, then use a launcher like Nova to hide the status bar on the home page.

Thanks it sounds like a great idea, I'll try it :good:
p.s. why hiding the status bar on the home page?
Not sure if this is what you want but Smart Statusbar let's you access the notification bar from full screen apps.
Edit: just downloaded full!screen to try it out and it doesn't seem to work with that app.
full screen and keeps status bar
pie navigator
make sure to set up 'pie' controls before setting full screen and rebooting, or you'll be stuck with no way to navigate

I only mentioned that because I wasn't sure if you wanted the status bar or just wanted access to the notifications. I prefer having the status bar so I can easily see the time, battery, notifications, etc., but many prefer to hide the status bar for aesthetic reasons. With Nova, you can hide the status bar but still swipe down to expand notifications.
Use PA. Then go to hybrid properties, and set the Navigation Bar to 0%. This would make the nav bar disappear and trigger pie but with the status bar still at the top

Finally I used "button savior" app and than removed the softkeys by editing BuildProp file using "BuildProp Editor" adding the line: "qemu.hw.mainkeys=1", Reboot and that does it, no softkeys. Thanks for the advice for removing the softkeys :good:
I also prefer the status bar on... when I hide the status bar (using nova) there's no option pulling it back
My biggest gripe with Touchwiz is the massive amount of space the shortcuts in the notification bar take up. I have always been on Sense and when i get a notification, i could use my thumb to pull the bar down a half inch or so and see the notification, but on touchwiz, that giant stupid green bar of shortcuts takes up over a 3rd of the screen and just as annoying, the CLEAR button scrolls with the notifications. Aside from a custom ROM, is there a way to ditch the shortcuts/screen brightness slider from the notification pull down?
I wish we had the option to remove things from the actual status bar like AM/PM and the 4G icon when I'm on wifi. It bothers me that they don't just give us simple toggles to add/remove what we want.
Since the R6P notification bar sucks I was wondering if there´s an app that I can install to replace it. I don´t want to have to slide down the bar to be able to see my notifications. I want it to be like on all other android phones where if you get a whatsapp, a facebook or any notification they stay visible and identifiable on the screen.
Notification bar is normal on miuipro. You can use super notch app to see notifications on other roms.
On miui global 9.6.6.0 stable it's not normal
