Design faces for Facer from desktop? - Moto 360

I've been looking around for a way to design faces from a computer, but I can't find any. What am I missing? Can you only design faces from the phone?

You need some form of photoshop.
You can download gimp for free.

I'm talking about actually compiling a face in the ".face" format from a computer. So far, I'm thinking that I have to export images to my phone and compile faces there. Is this correct?

Do yo mean something like watchaface studio?. Sorry, seems like I can't post outside links because of my low post account (newbie here), but if you google "watchface studio codeplex" you'll find it.

Just what I was looking for, thanks.

How do you make watch faces?

I've tried changing the .watch or .face files to .zip and expanded them, but there aren't any images in them, just unix files.
How are you guys actually making watch faces? I want to give it a shot and make some for WatchMaker, but I'm lost on where to start.. dunno dimensions, how to animate, etc.
Any help would be appreciated!

Hey, is there a way to make watchfaces on the pc??
I read about an application for windows but i just cant seem to find it ANYWHERE!.. Help me out if you know of something.
It works just like watchmaker but its on the pc..
I thi k making these on a computer would be super easy!
Thanks, cheers!!
I thought that's what people were doing! You're making them in WatchMaker??
Well, that explains why I couldn't figure it out. I have WatchMaker Pro, been tinkering with it, but I guess I didn't catch the feature where I can actually make the watch faces with it. I thought I had to import them.
In that case, my next question is how do I find the directories to save the images, etc? The path shows up in WatchMaker when I browse for files, but the actual path doesn't seem to exist on my phone. I've gone into the folder where they're supposed to be, but nothing's there.
edit: never mind, got it sorted

I made a face on watchmaker but how can I share it? Can't figure out how to upload the face I can only get the pic.

How to permanently upload faces

How does one upload watch faces permanently as is done with eg the speed watch face made by zuhanden?
If he can do it, there must be a way...
Thanks.
Is it really so difficult to be specific when you post a thread? It's not just you. I've seen so many threads where it's like a portion of the thought that's on your head makes it on the page...and we're left to try and guess just what the heck you're talking about.
Upload permanently? What does that mean? If you upload to any free hosting site, it'll be subject to a DMCA take-down, like FaceRepo or XDA now has been removing faces after getting C&D letters. Or you can pay for your own server, and even then you're liable to C&D letters if your host wants to take action, or to legal consequences if they leave it up to you and you ignore it.
But then again, I might not be even close to what you're asking since you didn't really say it clearly.

Thought it was just me. I appreciate we're multicultural here but come on??
What he means is have the watch face uploaded to the watch to select it in the same way we do the stock faces. When he downloaded the speed watch face from the play store this behaves the same as a stock face. i.e not having to go onto facer and select the watch face, then select facer from the 360
The clock face that you see on the smart watch in fact is not just a wall paper , it is a custom android program that one can customize the contents .

Thanks hmanxx, that makes sense. So no easy way to do that it seems.
To others, yes, I meant upload to watch... guess I would have been in even bigger trouble if I had asked in this forum about how to upload things in a more general sense But point taken, was perfectly clear in my head...

[Q] How do you make images of watch with faces on it?

I've seen some great images of smartwatches with a new watchface, but it's obviously not an actual pic of watch with the face. It was somehow photoshopped or something. I was wondering if it was done with photoshop or what? I'm don't have much experience with photoshop/gimp so I'm wondering if that's how it was done. Thanks.

Watch faces for the most part are made with a app like watchmaker or Facer. These programs have some basic designs, but allow you to import your own artwork.
Your artwork can be created with adobe Photoshop/Illustrator, Gimp, etc... then uploaded to your phone to be imported into design app. You can also download others faces and tweak them to your liking.
Hope that helps.

My Watchfaces - Now with watchmaker files.

Hello Everyone,
I made my 1st watch face today. It is not perfect, but still looks good. Hence wanted to share it.
Have got both watchmaker and facer files now. But henceforth will make for watchmaker only since it is a much better app than facer.
The zip files have both the versions in them, so extract and choose the correct version.
Thanks
Too bad it doesnt open in watchmaker

The latest Facer update enables "copy protection" so Watchmaker won't import anymore.
Any chance of creating this face - http://www.authenticwatches.com/tag-heuer-kirium-wl1180-ft6000.html#.VKK5xf-CADA?
Thanks.
Hi Bikegeek. Right now I am not taking requests since I am still learning how to make watch faces. I will keep your request in mind once I get good at it. The Tag Heuer F1 was something I was trying to remember my old gimp skills on.
Sorry for now BIkegeek.

As of this version, his "copy protection" is laughable and won't take more than a few seconds for the WatchMaker dev to get past it, if he wants to. The Facer dev is taking the json file and converting it to base64.
For example, the OP's latest watch face's "protected" watchface.json file looks like this if you open it in a text editor:

I'll make sure my next update to my Face Viewer app 1) works with these new files and 2) un-protects them for ya.
To the OP: very nice job on the two you've done so far. Very good eye for detail.
looking good, keep up the good work
My 3rd watch face is up. Check the 1st post for details. I used the badapps.fr version as a source and modified it.
The Helvetica Mondaine is up.
Does anyone know if I can get the #Dd# date displayer to display with two digits. For example : 04 instead of just 4.
Thanks

Galaxy Watch Designer Watchfaces

Does anyone have GWD watchfaces to share? I haven't really seen any here. Is there another forum where .gwd files are shared?
I have created two watchfaces of a familiar mouse, one dark and one light. (components taken from this thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/smartwatch/samsung-galaxy-gear/mickey-mouse-watch-t2956617). Nothing real fancy. AOD is same for both watches. Images below.
These watchfaces are complete from my point of view, and I post these without any support. Feel free to use the gwd files to modify them for your own use, but if you do, please post your gwd file here for others.
Looks like you need a password to re build the watch face.

My understanding is that you need to get your own certificate both designer and device to build watchfaces with GWD, but I'll look and see.
I've also noticed the battery indicator doesn't work quite right, but I don't have time to look at that yet.
Here's another repository of lots of watchfaces for use with GWD (and other watchface builders):

If you use wathchmaker, there is a ton of custom designer faces available in a pack, just google it.
Is there a way to extract installed watch face from the watch to edit it?
