Can't boot into CWM Recovery
Hi,
I was thinking about installing CM11 and saw that I would need to install an updated CWM Recovery so I downloaded to the internal SD card and tried to boot CWM to flash the new version. When I tried to boot I just keep booting into normal android recovery which is badly over scanned on my TV. Having tried repeatedly to boot and pressing ALT + Print + I it never gets to CWM Recovery. So I tried rebooting into recovery from the ROM Manager app (which recognises I have CWM installed) but still standard recovery.
So I tried to flash again using one click recovery script and no ADB as I had previously switched on Wireless ADB arghhhh! Anyway I found an app to turn it off and it switches off wireless for that session only and I ran one click again. It went through the whole script and booted into standard over scanned Android recovery!
I am stuck now what to do next, any ideas? I would be happy to start from scratch but would doing a factory reset blow away CWM recovery or leave it still there?
The ouya is fully rooted with SU / Busybox / xposed and runs play store fine.
Any advice appreciated.
Paul.

Here is an image of the script I see when trying to re-run one click recovery. I assume it is not normal to see the unknown ID references?
I'm stuck unable to load CM11 without updating CWM Recovery so any help would be appreciated.

Fixed
Ah well after much searching I found people with similar issues as me and basically whilst I cannot pinpoint the exact issue I believe I had a permissions issue that was stopping CMW being written. I am not a programmer just a user and if I understood it correctly a previous update seems to have stopped me going into CWM Recovery. I had tried reloading etc but the errors I saw seem to be permission issues. After a lot of reading and seeing people overcoming this by running SU as a script and then issuing manual commands I decided to reload SU and this time when I ran the install CWM Recovery from Mod Collection for Ouya I noticed that straight away I got the message that it had been granted SU access and on reboot I am back in CWM Recovery. Have since upgraded to 6.0.4.8 which I need to go to CM11.
Paul.

thankks!

Try flashing the zip. Before that, check if you have ticked Update CM recovery in Developer options.
Also you can try to fastboot your recovery image via adb

Um,which rom are you on? On all cm based roms, i find this. I'm not sure if this really interferes, but i would prefer to turn it off incase i dont want changing recoveries.
Have you tried flashing the zip or flashing via fastboot?

Problems installing Boot Menu on OUYA
Hi,
I followed the instructions to load CM11 on my OUYA, I flashed CWM 6.0.4.8, Boot Menu v2.0.4, CM11 Nightly, Gapps and the Key mapping zips all from CWM Recovery (latest version) and the OUYA rebooted into CM11, set up all ok, very happy so far.
However it struck me when I rebooted that I didn't get a new boot menu, so I tried flashing again and I don't see any errors it just comes back to recovery and when I reboot there is no boot menu! I did not sideload the files using ADB I flashed the zips from recovery.
Previously when running stock OUYA (rooted) I could not flash recovery and it would not update and I suspect that this was a permission issue as it only worked when I reloaded SU. Is it possible that permissions are blocking the installation of the boot menu and if so how can I fix this?
Please note I am a real Newby by name and just a user, I really have no programming experience but am happy to do whatever to resolve the problem. So any advice is appreciated. Having CM11 is a great improvement.
Cheers
Paul.

Ok I re tried loading the zip from CWM and as before it looks to install without any issue, this time I found the log under advanced and it showed success. I then rebooted and again I don't see the bootmenu.
Do you think that it is possible that it is installed but for some reason not showing up on the TV? I have a suspision that it is loaded and booting after the time out as the screen goes blank for about 10 seconds before the Cynogenmod logo appears. how can I test if I can't see it, does the boot menu respond to the keyboard, if so is it two down arrows and and return to get to recovery?
Cheers
Paul.
Hi, I have installed this marvellous boot system with cm rom. Now I want to install the new stock rom update. I download the ota zip but I don't know how I must install it with this boot. Please could any one help me and tell me step by step? Can I flash the zip from cwm? When we install ota update it delete this boot system?
Thanks

Remember to reboot into the new recovery (6.0.48) BEFORE flashing the bootmenu!
I got that problem as well. It just means that you need to reboot the Ouya once again. You can't flash the new recovery module and the bootmenu zips in one go. Instead you have to flash 6.0.48 while in the older recovery (6.0.32), reboot and then you can flash the bootmenu zip without any error.
I just wanted to note that a couple of TVs I've tried don't lock to the hdmi signal until the boot menu is gone. This means you won't see the boot menu even though it is there and functioning correctly.
If you push the power button once or twice about 3 seconds after you power on the ouya, you will actually be selecting from the boot menu and that will cause the boot menu screen to persist (hopefully) until the TV or monitor locks.

Having an issue. not sure TWRP related or not.
When I go into Root Explorer or Root Browser, I've tried both, I have no TWRP folder.
My wife's tablet is okay. It shows TWRP.
As I wrote on the main thread, after flashing TWRP, it only boots to it if the tablet is connected to the computer...
Is it going to be built new release with encryption feature for Lollipop?
I too am having the issue of TWRP not seeing my internal storage. My N7 came with 5.0.1 and was updated with the OTA to 5.0.2. I then unlocked it in fastboot and flashed TWRP. I cannot see any files or mount any partitions in TWRP. I have tried the last 2.8.5.0 and 2.8.2.2 as suggested by other posters without success. Anyone have any suggestions as to what is going on? I have also tried running 'fastboot -w' and that didn't help either.

2.8.7.0 < 10 mo
Hi maximusmullivan,
Can you please tell us where you dl that version which is < 10M, because on the official website dl.twrp.me/deb/, the only version I see is 10.9M?
I tried installing 2.8.6.0 instead, but my Nexus 7 wouldn't start. I believe it is not compatible with Lollipop 5.1.1 (but that's only a guess because I'm no expert).
Thanks,
Ben

Hi there.
I have this device and willing to participate in the test of CM12 builds.
I own the n5120 and am interested in helping. But I need a little help first...
I have root but the version is too low. I need a recovery archive that will work with Android 4.4 and above. "CWM-based Recovery v6.0.4.7" sure would help me!
Can someone assist?
I've done full wipe: /system, /data, /cache, /data/media (internal memory). Then I've installed ROM zip (nothing else, no gapps or supersu). Archive was installed too fast IMO, faster than just copying zip file from sdcard to internal memory. Installation script reported status code '0.200000'. After reboot I've got 'infinite' boot animation (waited for 10 minutes, animation didn't stop and nothing else happened). Device became moderately warm.
Understood. It's not easy to work on a device I don't even own.
Gonna work on next release.
Thanks

Do you have checksum for the zip-file?

Big thanks to you that you are trying to do it, because I had no hope that my n5120 will get update.
I had infinite boot animation problem on Galaxy Note 2 (n7100). Somehow I've managed to start adb daemon during boot process, so I've got shell and logcat and solved the problem. Unfortunately, this was long ago and I cannot reproduce same thing on n5120. Maybe, if you guide me, I could start adb again during boot and get some logs for you?

Clean flashed test3 zip on my n5120, bootloop. tried SferaDev's rom, also the same.
Full wipe (/system, /cache, /data, /data/media/0, /tombstones). TEST#3 still stuck in boot animation. Waited for 20-25 minutes.
TEST #03 - Bootloop after fullwipe.
