Hi,
I prefer using the S pen and the Direct Pen input in comparison to the Samsung Keyboard or its handwriting mode. However, direct pen input is available only for text fields and hence does not work in the S Note app.
Is there any way to use Direct pen input systemwide or atleast in S note?
TIA :fingers-crossed:

Hello guys,
I can't get the writing area for handwriting recognition to show up on my Note II.
When I hit the "T" for text in S-Note I just get the Samsung Keypad although the S-Pen is removed from the phone.
It doesn't matter if I remove the S-Pen from the phone when the keypad is already visible or before I hit the "T".
Pen detection is enabled.
Does anyone have an idea how to fix it.
I am on stock Samsung Firmware (rooted).
Cheers,
Bjoern
Interesting... when I switch to "German" or "English(UK) input, I can switch between Handwriting pad and keypad. Switching to English(US) the option (T with a pen - left to the space bar) to switch to handwriting disappears...
Any clue why?
Cheers,
Bjoern
Try clearing cache and data in the Samsung keyboard. After it restarts, so in to "handwriting" in the Samsung keyboard settings and accept an update if it's offered. Make sure the handwriting language is set to the same language as the typing keyboard.
It does not work with English US.
Jep, seems simply not to work with English(US) :silly:
I'm on the French 4.1.2 ROM and it's set to English U.S. You may have to download it.
I had this same issue with my previous german rom not having the handwriting recognition for en_US. It appears that with some roms you can only use handwriting recognition for the original languages on the phone and downloading new languages only downloads the qwerty keyboard and not the handwriting recognition.
Edit: with my current rom handwriting recognition appears to work with all languages. The difference appears to be the /system/VODB folder which on my old original Rom only listed 4 languages but on my current rom there seems to be a folder for every language. ..

Have you tried this?

I had the same problem, but a long press on the key to the left of the space bar on the Samsung Galaxy keyboard got me to the recognition pad...
Hi, this is My first post.
I would like to be able to use hand writing recognition on S-note in split screen.so the idea is I have a lecture running on one window through Youtube or video app, and then another window I am using handwriting recognition to take note's on s-note, is this possible?
when on split screen hand Writing recognition functionality does not seem possible as there is no option for it.Thanks.
I see Japanese as an option in the handwriting language list, but not in the keyboard list. If it's not listed in the keyboard list I can't actually select it while using the handwriting keyboard (which seems rather broken to me). Anyone know how to get this going?

Click to collapse
I'm not sure if this is what you want - try Google Japanese Input.
After install, you can enable them in your Settings > Language and input.
Google Translate does japanese handwriting rocognition too.
you need the keyboard and libs from a Japanese ROM. Japanese isn't intergrated into the Samsung keyboard. It has its own Samsung Japanese keyboard. There is another thread around that lists the stuff you need to extract from a Japanese ROM.
Else try third party like others suggested, Swype supports handwriting doesn't it as well?
I had the note 4 and just got my note 7 and it does not have an option to predict emoji ( as you type a word an emoji shows up to replace that word on keyboard) anywhere on the options? Or I can not find it. that was a cool future. how is it possible to get it back without another keyboard app install? please help. Thanks.
I am moving up from a Note 3, and use handwriting do do most of my typing. The new handwriting pad fails when editing an existing document. Is there any way to install the old Samsung Keyboard/Handwriting Pad over the new one, or has anyone had success with another Handwriting Keyboard?
