Help! Bricked! "secure boot error" [d855] - G3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I was trying to flash newest v10L on my D855 variant, i think it was the usb line problem, the flash was very slow and couldn't finish the process.
I know how fatal if i failed the KDZ process, but i had no choice but to reflash again.
and then my phone failed me, i can't get into downloading mode anymore, and the phone kept giving me
"[460] secure boot error", T.T, and the LED is flashing in a Red and Blue and Red pattern.
what can i do now? so frustrated at the moment.....
plz help me guys!
thanks so much!

I think your hard bricked now - sorry

were you able to get this resolved? I have the same problem. any info will be good.

pull the battery, and boot into either recovery or download mode, from either of those you can recover the device.

Secure boot error I believe is when you have a messed up bootloader. On an old lg phone we had to loki the aboot.img and by bypassing the bootloader those words would flash on the screen. Maybe try to reflash the kdz or a previous kdz. If not try to flash the boot.img and laf.img for your device via fastboot/adb. Lg makes a damn near unbrickable phone.

mate, i replaced my MB at LG customer service

sorry for the late response mate. I can't fix it at all by myself. so i took it to local LG customer service seeking for help.
after hearing and considering this and that options, i decide to replace my MB. It took 3 weeks for them to fix my phone.
they had to order the part from korea since mine is HK version and they don't have stock in mainland china.
now the phone is super sweet somehow, but i don't use it any more since i got myself a NOTE4.
my wife will give it to her brother. =)

[Q] LG G3 security error

Just got the phone today and successfully rooted it and I wanted to see what this xposed framework stuff was about I installed the experimental version (tbh did really read it was experimental it was on the front page so I thought it was alright) and when prompt to reboot I did, but now when rebooting I can't get passed the Lg secruity error screen I tried re-flashing back to stock using this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2799647 but nothing happens after I plug my G3 back in it just says ready is there any other way to fix this security error?
edit:found out that my model number is actually the f400s (sorry i'm a phone noob) for anyone else out there trying to find your phone model it's actually behind the battery

Again I ended up resolving the issue myself and I do not have a picture of the error but I can describe it. When booting my lg g3 the normal big Lg logo appeared then after a bit a smaller lg logo appeared with the words "security error" under it for those looking for a solution to that problem the thread in the op is the correct action to take to resolve the issue. Note doing that wiped everything on my phone which was not a big deal for me but I had to take my phone back the the carrier to input the configuration to access 4g lte again & it unrooted my phone.
i have this same issue can you tell me how you got around it?

jerimynal wiley the error you get "secure boot error" is caused by image you are trying to boot not being bumped or not properly flashed. I assume you get this error both while trying to access recovery and OS. If that is the case you should use this guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2785089&nocache=1
to flash stock firmware on your device.
But if you have a case where you are able to access your recovery (TWRP I assume) you could use one of the custom images provided here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/development (assuming you have D855 version) . Flash them and use them as OS.
Thanks man. I actually could get into recovery so I just flashed another kernel

[Q] G3 - Secure booting error, Dead; No recovery, No Download

Hey all,
I restarted my phone yesterday and it was stuck in a boot loop for some reason. I tried to factory reset, but doing so still resulted in a boot loop. I then proceeded to attempt to flash stock, but the flash tool crashed while during the process. When I try to boot to download mode now, I get "Secure booting error, Error!: Boot Certifcation Verify". I know this also happens on the G2, and I know the process for fixing it. But when trying to use the same method with the G3, I can't access my filesystem from Linux. Any help? Thanks.

1) Which exact model do you have?
2) Where are you from?
3) Which exact stock version did your phone come with?
4) What did you try to flash exactly, and how did you do it?
Let me know all this so I can see if I can help you :good:
Hey!
1) Which exact model do you have? - LG G3 D855
2) Where are you from? - India
3) Which exact stock version did your phone come with? - had installed earlier "LGD855AT-00-V10e-EUR-XX-JUL-08-2014-32G+0" TOT
4) What did you try to flash exactly, and how did you do it - Updated to Lollipop via kdz, a few things were broken, wanted to revert back to TOT. when the process started in download mode, got an error and then "Secure booting error, Error!: Boot Certifcation Verify".
If I press volume up and plug in then it gooes to qhsusb_bulk on device manager. it gets detected under Ubuntu VM, but dosent show th drives. thats my story.

I was rooted before updating to lollipop, then tried to back dowk to KK with TOT and this happened, so I dont think I am rooted any more.
The better question is: do you have TWRP (custom recovery) installed? If you do, your phone can be fixed. If not, you are probably screwed.
Basically it sounds to me like your phone managed to flash the updated Android 5.0 bootloader but didn't update the LAF image (download mode). The old download mode doesn't work on the new bootloader, it gives the error you are experiencing.
Because you still have a LAF partition, and presumably a recovery partition (even if they are not working) you cannot access fastboot mode.
In other words, there may be no way to fix your situation.
As the hardware is fine there must be a method, but it might be something only LG can do.

I'm in the same situation now.
I was bumped with TWRP and CM12 installed. I wanted to unroot and go back to stock. Started a flash with LG flashing tool, but it was taking ages, so I unplugged the USB cable in the middle.
Now whenever I boot via either VolUp+USB or trying to get into a recovery I get secure boot error.
Is there a way to fix this ? Or do I need to send a phone to LG ?
This has happened to me today. Downgrading got stuck at 3%. LG Flash tool said to remove phone and plug back in. Any way to fix
Also, does anyone know if downgrading voids warranty or anything?

I didn't find a way to fix it, so I've just sent it to LG repair shop. They haven't yet looked at it so I don't know how much would it cost.
People just tell the service center that you were upgrading from KitKat to Lollipop when the problem happened
Evidence wise it support your claim since the OTA from KitKat to Lollipop overwrites the aboot, sbl, laf and recovery partitions and service center people ultimately cannot tell between failed OTA and a failed KDZ flash

When you short battery must be removed.
After short your phone will be detected as qhsusb bulk mode.

[Solution] if you flashed the wrong firmware on your LG G2

First of all I want to Thank cybertag (a member at reddit.com) whose help made me find this solution. And sorry if my English is not good, it is not my first language. As I don't have enough posts here, XDA restricts me to post external links so this is the best I could do. I will add links to the files needed once i am allowed.
A few days ago I was tinkering with after my lg g2 ls-980, the sprint version of lg g2, rooted but no custom recovery installed and I made my first mistake of changing the model number from ls-980 to D802 in built.prop file thinking that it will only change the model number shown in the hardware information and restarted the phone. Once my phone booted up after that restart everything was crashing. There was a huge number of crash reports popping on the screen and I was not able to use anything. So I downloaded the .tot files of the stock firmwares LS980ZVC and LS980ZVE (don't know why but I downloaded both) along with the .dll file needed to flash the firmware for ls980 and when I tried to flash the firmware booting the phone in download mode and using the LG Flash tool but it gave me an error saying that the firmware does not match with model number of my phone. Both firmwares gave the same error. My phone and the flash tool both were thinking it was D802 while it was not.
Now i made my second mistake and downloaded the stock firmware for D802 and flashed it using LG flash tool. The firmware was flashed successfully without any error, but when the phone booted up after the flash the touch screen was behaving funny and phone restarted every 15-20 seconds because this firmware was not meant to be used with LS-980. I was unable to do anything the way touch screen was behaving.
I spent most of my time for the next few days googling for the solution and searching on XDA and also on reddit. I found multiple threads reporting that a generic no-check DLL file is the savior in this situation, but when I tried to run it I get continuous errors telling me the following: "CrossDL [D8012] to [LS-980]". Then i found this thread by cybertag on reddit which lead me to the right direction. It suggested to hex edit the .tot file for ls-980 so that the flash tool thinks that it is for D802. So I grabbed a hex editor and found the first mention of LS-980 and changed it to D802, saved the file and tried o flash it but it was still giving different errors. Then someone suggested it only works if you edit the .tot firmware in linux based OS. So i installed ubuntu OS on a virtual machine and tried editing the firmware in that OS using Bless Hex editor, still no success in flashing. Then I tried editing in pinguy OS but in vain. Then I found FlexHex for windows and used it for editing the LS980ZVC.tot firmware did the same thing, found the first mention of LS-980 and changed it to D802, saved the file, flashed it and bingo! the flash tool gave no error this time and flashed the phone successfully.
Now there was another problem. When the phone rebooted after flashing the firmware it got stuck on LG logo forever. And when I tried to boot it into download mode, the download mode was gone and it took me to fastboot mode. The phone was stuck in bootloop and there was no download mode anymore. Now after more searching i found a method to resolve this problem. Downloaded the aboot.img and laf.img partitons for LS980ZVC and flashed both using fastboot commands. Tried to boot into the download mode again and it worked and i was in download mode one again. When I checked the phone model was changed back to LS-980, the original one. Flashed the LS980ZVE firmware from original .tot file as it was the latest version available to date and it flashed without any error. When the phone rebooted after completing the flashing process, it was as good as new, up and running the original stock kitkat rom for this model. Tested and tried everything and never noticed any issue.
Thank you @tauheed that will help a lot of people I'm sure.
Thank reddit member cybertag out there to.

the only possible option is to flash the aboot.img and laf.img partitions. But we need to find a way to do so in your phone's current state. Things can be a lot easier if you could manage to get into fastboot mode.

softbricked lg g3 d850

Hey!
I guess i just softbricked my phone, by installing a D855 firmware thing, using LGUP, and don't know how to fix this. To be correct, it turns on to the LG logo, and stays there forever. I can use hard reset, and it does the job, but still bootloop thing. I can also get into download mode, but nowhere further than the LG logo screen if i just turn it on or something. Tried to use LG Flash Tool on multiple computers one after another. I followed guides for help with it, and did everything as they described, but the problem with this, is after i use LG Flash Tool with the correct .TOT file, and .DLL file, it will just say "Model Information Chech FAIL.", so i can't fix it by flashing the correct files. I've been trying everything for 2 days, but no luck. Please, can you guys help me? :'( I'm worried.
Update: My phone is now fixed. I don't know how it got fixed. My brother did it, and he doesn't tell me how he did it. :'D Anyways. It's now fixed, so thank you for everyone who messaged me about this with helps. ^^ After 2 days of trying, its finally fixed.

Lg G4 H815 hard-bricked with different qualcomm soft?

Hello, (complete n00b here)
Several days ago I've tried to flash a 6.0 MM (from 5.1) to my LG G4 H815 phone. There was no option to do it automatically so I proceded to do it manually via flashboot.
I hard-bricked it to oblivion as in black screen, no response whatsoever.
While investigating @ the internet I've managed to understand I could get it fixed via quadcomm drivers (mode 9008).
Tried various "fixes" for H815 but was getting safari download errors. For some reason I tried a LS991 fix and it worked. When I started the phone it showed no logo but just a secure booting error 1006.
Still, could enter firmware download so I began to flash a lot of KDZ firmwares with no success.
LGUP shows my model : H81510H.
While in fastboot mode there is a note below (wasn't there the first time) with codes : 633 B46 or something like that.
While flashing anything it ALWAYS STOPS at 9% with a tot anti-rollback error. While flashing the code changes briefly where one can read smth like : LGLS991ZVA ver. 6.0
Managed to download some KDZ for that exact model, SAME ERROR. Tried to find / flash LS991ZVA with no success in finding a TOT file.
Also, managed to get ADB drivers up and it shows unauthorized in listing (LS991). Fastboot does not detect my device even in fastboot mode @ phone.
Please HELP!

Hello and thx for reply. I tried to do what u've said. It did something (I was looking for a while back). When I plug the cable back in, my windows 7 immediately installs quadcomm hs-usb driver (9008) and my phone acts as if it was dead. LGUP cannot find it in that state. I've been trying to QFIL the "proper" soft but it continues to pop different errors (using different QFIL versions). Either saharafail or some sort of download fail.
LGUP still presents an error (if I decide to "fastboot" it) @ 9% 0x2000, TOT antirollback version is smaller than device version.
How can I make sure I've got the proper KDZ without ANTI-ROLLBACK?

Thx again. Uppercut shows H81510H as LGUP did. Is it possible that it's somehow write-protected?
It confuses me, since during the firmware update on my phone, I get this small box below the picture showing wierd codes : 633A Bxx and when I'm trying to flash my phone, the code gets longer with LS991ZVA v6.0 and more other. It then stops.
Funny thing is, when I got the phone I couldn't even connect to the LG bridge to update it at all. I've managed to do it bugging the MTP protocol but THAT on the other hand prevented me from copying stuff / FLASH my phone to MM 6.0. Had to factory reset it back then and all went back to "normal" = LG couldnt detect my device but I could copy photos or stuff from it.
NOW, when my phone is bricked, LGbridge DETECTS my phone (in fastboot), downloads the newest KDZ update BUT cannot install it (same thing as in LGUP). Hence my question : is it somehow write-protected?

Have you tried to eset it by pushing power and volume own then when you see bootsplash then release power button and hen quickly push the power button again....
But in your case push power and volume down within the count or 20 then release power then push power button again and see what happens and then try the same thing on volume up......
Thanks for the reply.
I did what u've said. Despite no logo I tried to release power button for a second just after the screen's brightness goes up (I also get a small vibration @ start). Everytime I get secure booting error 1006 after a few seconds.
On the other hand when I did that with volume UP button there was no error but there was nothing aswell until I release power button in which case I got the secure booting error. All of the above tries were done with no USB connection with anything.

Do try with usb s well it may do something r do nothing......
Can't tell atm since I gave it to professionals. I'll wait and see how it'll turn up. Thx for all the effort tho, was nice to tinker with a lil help
@Longbranch did you solve this problem ? I'm in the same state but my phone model is H810, everything else is the same as yours.
Nope, not really. I gave it back to the reseller and my money got returned luckily.
The professionals I refer to above did install a specific firmware for the ls991 type. Firmware ZVB I think. The only one appliable apparently. Anyways, as I suspected the ls991 type is for the US and therefore it didn't work in my country in EU. My sim card wouldnt work with it. Besides, without the sim card, the phone decided to freeze and die after several minutes every time I turn it on. Swapped for LG G5 and it's working flawlessly up until this day.
good for you, what i don't understand is that it's a h810 model but now identify as ls991 does that mean you can convert it just by a Qfil flash? I may try another model flash if can't find a suitable Rom for it

Yes! That's what I and neutrondev telling everyone :
do not use qfil without the knowledge about the result!
The only working firehose file available out there is for the ls991 and that means if you use it it will turn your device into a ls991 without any way to get back to your previous device model!!

@steadfasterX since I have done it already is there any way to get it working even as an LS991 ?
here is what i did till now
the reason for using Qfill is that it went dead after flashing an H810 rom .
after that when it's in download mode it doesn't allow me to flash the ls911ZV5 ls911ZV6 ls911ZV6_12 roms that i found ( it says LS991ZVA )
so i went in fastboot and flashed boot/aboot/recovery....img extracted from the ls911ZV6 rom then it accepted the rom in download mode
but it is stuck in a hard bootloop ( reboots when it is getting in recovery but still has download mode yet no fastboot as before)
any thoughts ?

Yes it's possible. You can boot a h811 H815 or any other rom you like. Even LOS!!
Great right? BUT you are bounded to the ls991 modem and so you need to be in a sprint network to use telephony. That means the phone is now useless outside the US .
And you wrote you tried ls911 ROMs? I hope you meant ls991
I work on a fully working experience on every network though. Checkout my proof of concept for unlocking the bootloader thread
I can go into details on IRC if you like.

@steadfasterX thank you for keeping up with me ! ( btw what room on IRC ?)
for now I have used Qfill again and got fastboot working again and flashed TWRP ( not sure where ! ) so when the phone is off and i plug the usb it boots to twrp ( but it doesn't in recovery )
normal boot will show "secure boot error 1002"
then i flashed twrp img to recovery partition using twrp but it didn't work in recovery ( still reboots after showing Recovery Mode loading screen )
also tried to load some roms on the device to try them but I got error "file too large for filesystem " when copying them .
atm I don't know the state I'm in and what should be next ?
btw here are the recovery log and dmesg

Np we can bring you back to life but as already said without cell service. That's the price for the firehose and unlocked feeling you have now.
Did you found and read my thread here?
https://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/general/bl-unlock-unlock-bootloader-proof-t3648288
There you will find some more info and also the IRC details how you can find me. I'm online from Monday to Friday mainly.
It's much easier to talk in chat then here. once all the details are known I will provide a full guide.
