[Q] Active Sync Email issues? - Verizon Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Anyone noticing any Active sync issues. Push doesn't seem to be working. I send an email to my exchange email and my s3 gets it and the note 4 doesn't. I have to manually sync the mail app to get the mail. Checked all the settings and have removed and readded account. Still not luck.

EAS is working fine on my Note 4. I've got a peak schedule Mon- Fri and hourly all other times. I did do a factory reset when I got the phone (as I do with every new device) maybe give that a shot?

No problems here

Strange
Did a factory reset and still not luck. The weird thing is that push works for sub folders but not the parent Inbox folder. I have to set the parent inbox to sync every 5 minutes.

Weird thing for me was that I was able to activate my exchange email for school with my note 3 but the note 4 won't accept my school email. Be lucky you even got that far lol. Pretty frustrating that a newer device would have a harder time setting up email.

HTC Exchange Mail Sending Issue

I have set up Exchange on my EVO and I am having an issue sending emails. Every time I try to send a new email, I got an error on the phone "Unable to send mail" and the email goes into the Outbox.
This is where it gets weird. The email does actually get sent, but it's sent 5 times. The really strange thing is that if I reply to an email I already have, it works fine with no errors. Everything else works perfect (Contacts, Calendar, polling, etc..)
I downloaded Moxier Mail to test that. Moixer mail sent the new emails with no issues so I think this has something to do with the HTC Mail app.
When I first got the phone this seemed to to work fine. I noticed this issue after I installed LockPicker. I uninstalled Lockpicker, but was still having a problem. With no other option, I did a hard reset and just setup exchange, but still got the error so I don't think lockpicker is the issue.
Any help would be awesome!
(By the way, I work for a company with 13,000 employees and they don't support Android so I can't do anything on that side)
Have you tried deleting the account from the HTC Mail App and then re-adding it? I've found every once in a while (when I was trying out the Eris) that it gets flaky and the easy fix is just to delete the account and re-add it.
Thank you for the suggestion, but I have tried that a couple times with no luck. As I mentioned, I even tried a hard reset and still got the error.
Is the email server actually an exchange server? Mine is a zimbra server and has a known issue with HTC exchange mail. This is being fixed in the 6.07 server update that rolls out in a couple weeks. Till then I've disabled email sync on the zimbra/exchange account and am using IMAP for email.

Corporate email stuck

GUys
I have a wierd issue - my corporate email is stuck getting emails upto a 1 week ago but not after that. SEndign email works fine
Anybody seen this? I even removed the entire account, rebooted, reset the account and it again downloads all email till a week ago and nothing after that
Thanks
What's your back end email server? I've been having various issues with corporate email. My company is using an old GroupWise system with some type of mailsync that allows us to connect using the Exchange protocol.
I've had issues where it works great, but doesn't download the amount of email I've asked it to sync (30days), but instead will download just a week, or two weeks. I've also had issues where it works great for a week or so, then starts chewing up battery life trying to sync constantly. Rebooting doesn't work. I have to reboot, remove account, reboot again, and re-add the account.
I initially thought it was our servers...

Gmail app delay receiving mail

Am I the only one who's disenchanted with the Gmail app on Android? I was hoping it would be better with my Nexus, but nothing has changed.
It doesn't seem like true push. If I set Gmail up as an exchange account in the mail app, it receives my e-mail and notifies me within seconds of sending a test message. The Gmail app randomly notifies me within about 15 minutes or so. Call me anal, but I like to receive my e-mail as soon as possible (sometimes it's important) and I don't see why there's a delay on the official Gmail app.
I know this has been an ongoing issue for some time with Android and my co-worker claims that he's perfectly happy just using the Gmail app, but my experience is that the Email client receives e-mail faster and that's important to me.
I've been using the gmail app for a while on 4 different devices (N1,G2,Sensation,GNex), and I've never noticed more than a couple second lag receiving emails. I have noticed something since 4.0.4 or possibly the latest gmail update. When I mark an email as read on my computer, the notification no longer clears itself on my phone. I have to manually clear it.
It can be strange, and in some cases frustrating. More often than not, my emails come really quick (as they should). There has been a few occurances where an email was delayed by several hours.
And it does seem as though the mail app works better than the gmail app for push email.
Edit: I only use the gmail app, but have used the mail app in the past.
Never had more than a 30 second delay personally.
See, my co-worker swears he doesn't notice a delay either, but I have tested it over and over. When I have notifications on for both the default e-mail client and Gmail, I will get a notification immediately from the e-mail client and nothing from Gmail. More troubling, when I open Gmail, the e-mail is not there yet. It's like it's on periodic check, instead of push.
Currently, I have notifications turned off for the Gmail app and use it to sync everything, then have Gmail set up as an exchange account and only have it pulling in e-mail (no contacts or calendar). It still seems a tad redundant, but its' the only way to ensure that I get my e-mail reliably.
I've not noticed any delay with using the app.

No delays here either. I relay email from POP3 accounts to Gmail for the push functionality and it works flawlessly.
All good here too. Matches my desktop Gmail timing. Btw I love the Gmail app its the best damn email experience I've ever seen on a phone, I use it constantly.
I can't be the only one having this issue. Is it possible that no one here knows any different simply because they haven't tried it as an exchange account through the regular e-mail app? Again, I have had this issue on pretty much every Android phone I have owned. And I can duplicate it any time.
Would anyone care to add Gmail as an Exchange account through the e-mail app and then send themselves a test message? Let me know if you get it in both apps around the same time. In my case, it shows up instantly in the e-mail app and won't show up for several minutes in the Gmail app unless I push the sync button manually.
i've noticed delays too. really frustrating because i have no idea what can be done about it...

Nothing that I know of, because it only seems to affect a small percentage of users. I can find a few posts on the internet with other users complaining about the same issue, but most people who reply say they have no problem (just like this post). It makes me wonder if I created a completely new Gmail account and tied it to my phone, if I'd get e-mail instantly on that account.
Unfortunately, that's not an option. I've had this address for years.
How long is your delay, less than a minute? I send myself a test email from my corp work email and it comes thru in less than a minute.

The delay varies. Sometimes it's instant, other times it's anywhere from a 5-15 minute delay. I always get the e-mails instantly in the e-mail app when Gmail is set up as an exchange account.
The moral of the story is, it's not reliable. I can never count on getting my e-mail in a timely manner in the Gmail app.
Sign in to the Google Talk application and make sure you're always signed in. I believe that the gTalk-connection is used for push-messages, so if you're signed in into gTalk, push should work.
I also had the delay once, after I restored a backup of the gmail data after a factory reset(actually, yakjuxw -> yakju). I deleted the gmail data and re-configured it. That fixed the problem for me.

I'm glad you mentioned this. I have the gmail issue (won't ever recieve push email...have to manually sync) AND I cannot sign into GTalk from my phone.
I wish I could fix.
Sorry to revive a dead thread, but was there ever a resolution to this? I'm having the exact same problem on my HTC One X (AT&T).
Gmail or Gtalk delays are due to router (firewall issues). Just forward the necessary Google ports, and you'll be good to go.

I am struggling with this issue as well
Me too, lately it's been brutal for me

Just got 4.4, stock email acting weird

I've seen the threads about exchange syncing, but this is a little different so I have to ask. It downloads email from my website's mail server just fine (pop email connection). However unlike 4.3 and earlier, when I get home and download my mail off the server (no copies are left on the server), the stock email app does not remove these emails from itself. I end up having to delete from inbox and then from trash. Anyone know if this is intended new functionality or is it a bug similar to what I've been reading about it not syncing with Exchange?
Hmm apparently whatever was going on was temporary. It's actually working fine now.

Issues after updating to kitkat

Hello,
I have a note 3 and galaxy gear. After updating to kitkat I have this problem with the phone constantly notifying me of new emails, even though I have already acknowledged the email. Prior to updating, I was able to swipe the new email notification and It would not renotify me until a new email was received, now after about every 15 mins I get a notification to my phone and my gear saying there is a new email even though its the same email as before.
The only way to stop my phone from renotifying me is to delete the email completely. I have ensured that Gmail notifactions are off, and am only using the email samsung app.
This was working fine before but now I am going crazy and not even wearing my watch because it is so damn annoying.

update.
I have removed the gmail account from the 'accounts' area of settings and re added it. I am still getting a notice of new emails every 15 mins (the sync setting) regardless of having a new email or not.
I cannot find anyone else having this issue... and i have 5 email accounts tied to this phone, and only the primary/default account is having this persistent notification issue.
Any ideas?

I have also cleared all data and cache for the email app.... as soon as I add my gmail account it starts notifying me every sync of the first email in my inbox.
I guess I am going to go to tmobile and get a new phone unless anyone has any other ideas.

I checked my gmail settings from a computer, and it shows IMAP and POP enabled.
For some odd reason it appears the issue may have been resolved, and I have not modified anything since again deleting the data/cache.
Should POP be disabled and only IMAP enabled? the phone is set up to utilize IMAP not POP.

Your phone had a hiccup. Not a hardware issue. It happened from time to time. It self fixed itself when it got caught up.
