I don't seem to have any problems using WiFi on the phone itself, but I use it for my job sometimes when I'm scanning for other WiFi networks. When I use WiFi Analyzer or a similar app, the wifi charts just fly all over the place.. Am I doing something wrong or is it the same way for everybody? Thanks.

Hi all,
since I upgraded to android 2.2 I'm getting an annoying problem with the wifi of my desire. I got some place with wifi (802.11b/g home WPA1 PSK, office WPA2 enterprise TTLS), since I upgraded sometimes the phone doesn't see the wireless networks. Initialy I thought there was some problem/delay to switch from 3g network to wifi, but now I have done some tests and seem that the phone don't see any wifi network in these case! The only way to resolve the problem is to turn off the wifi and then on again. If I go to the network setting and I require a scan no network is avaible, nor using 3rd part programs like wifi scanners and similar.
Anyone is getting the same problem?
Thanks you in advance.

I have had no problems at all since switching to 2.2 Have been all over - home, work, heathrow, Frankfurt and Austria turning WiFi and/or 3g on and off at varying times. Could you have a problem with a 3rd party app that has the ability / permission to turn WiFi on and off ?
Hope you manage to get it resolved - I'm loving Froyo.
PS - the wireless tendering turns the WiFi off, instead turning your device into an AP are you sure that isn't turning on?

No 3rd program switch wifi off, and all seem to be correct. I just rooted the phone and installed a mod and now all is working fine.
Thank you anyway
Have a few WiFi networks around here and this SGS drops wifi for no reason, therefore how do I force the Galaxy S to stay connected to my preferred WiFi network, locking to it and staying lock even if a nearby WiFi is stronger ??
Still looking for a solution.
anyone?
Perhaps this thread is in the wrong section, so if a Mod wishes to move it, that's fine.
I have the opposite problem.. I put 2 routers to cover all my home with wifi (same ip).. And even if I'm at a room with 5bars from router A, and 2 bars from router B, the phone connects to router B!
Thats also a problem that I'm having.
If only there was a way to choose the wifi we want and stay locked to it, our problem would be solved.
I can't believe we are the only ones with this issue.
Any update from anyone ?
Hello
i have a htc desire gsm
and im running cyanogen mod 6.1.1 with radio version 32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27
i have the following problems:
i can connect to networks without a problem, and the connection seems stable and fast
but reconnecting is a problem, if i disconnect from a network, by disabling wifi or moving out of range, most of the times the wifi does not auto reconnect. it just stays as remembered and disabled. if i then click on the saved network it connects fine.
sometimes it has to connect two times to get a conenction, looks like connecting, then searching then connecting in the wireless and networks config screen.
its not a big problem but annoys me as hell
on the other hand i have one network, protected with 802.1x eap (ttls and pap) its the configuration where you need to input username and password and use a certificate.
with this network i have connection problems, connection works 1 out of 4 times and if not then i have to redo the whole config. this annoys me even more because the network is unusable for me most of the time.
and
today i had the problem that the wifi conenction dropped regularly, connected, then came scanning which disconnected my wifi and then reconnected. and so on.
wifi settings even force closed then
had to reboot, after that was fine. lets see for how long
i have googled around but never found an answer or fix for this.
so can anybody help me here ?
and i have some related questions.
is there an app that can show me only wifi and related logs ?
is wifi connection related to radio version ?
where are the wifi settings located ? like saved networks and so on ?
thx in advance
I also have that auto reconnection problem. Waiting for a fix for that.
Does it manifest exactly as I described it or in some other way?

Hey,
First off thanks for the root and roms that are available... Okay so a lot of the time im mostly in wifi areas... Now what would you guys recommend for an app that automatically enable/disable wifi? I used llama before but I noticed when I am not in a wifi area, wifi is still enabled and searching for a network which I assume is killing my battery... Now I just downloaded auto wifi enabler hoping this would work... I just want the wifi to be picked up when I am in one of my known networks and then automatically disabled when Im not...
Thanks!
I have not had any problems with my wifi before today, the phone just wont show any available networks aound me.
It also wont let me "forget" old networks from the list.
I can create a wifi hotspot which others can see so I dont think it is wifi antenna related but somehow software.
I am on ARHD 9.7
Any ideas? Any wifi cache that can be deleted or restarted? Restarting the phone has had no effect.
Any tests I could try?
So looks like my wifi is crashing after moving to this new building.
If I reboot from recovery I can get the wifi list to show up for a few seconds but then it disapears so def looks like something is making it crash.
Any idea how to stop it?
