Can anyone resolve this!?! - G Pad 8.3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a LG G Pad V50020d. Rooting is not an issue but the ability to flash TWRP is just not working for me. I have tried every guide possible. I have amended the runme file and things seem to go well but when I boot into recovery I get the fallen android and this message at the bottom of the screen;
"E:missing bitmap stage_empty
(Code -1)
E:missing bitmap stage_fill
(Code -1)"
Don't suppose anyone can help me? I just want CM11 on it.
Sent from my LG-D802 using XDA Free mobile app

Even the TWRP app believes it has installed the software correctly but I get no where. It is driving me crazy.

Have you tried installing when purely stock?

I will give it a go a again but I tried that last night. I shall unroot, and then revert back to stock. I may see if I can downgrade from 4.4.2 to 4.2.2.
Sent from my LG-D802 using XDA Free mobile app

I have managed to install, using LG Mobile Support Tool, v50020b 4.4.2 firmware. Rooting is easy and but getting TWRP on to this device is killing me!!!

If you can downgrade to 4.2.2 successfully please post how you did it. That's what I'm trying to do. Thanks.

I think all you will need to do is find the kdz file and put the tablet in download mode (holding both volume keys while the tablet is turned off and plug it into the PC) and use LG Flash Tool.

Couldn't find anything that guarantees thats how its done. Is there a kdz file just for 4.2.2 or just one kdz file does it all?

I have just downloaded the v50010a 4.2.2 kdz file so I am going to give it a go now. Give me 30 minutes and I will give you an update.

That just put me in a boot loop so now going back to v50020b 4.4.2.
I have never known such an issue with installing TWRP. I have managed it with most Samsung phones, the majority of the Nexus line of phones and tablets, my LG G2 and I just wanted to do it to the tablet.
Unfortunately, spending as much time as I have on this has left me frustrated and tired.

Chris, I just came across this. when you get out the bootloop, try this LINK and see if it works. I'm gonna try tonight when I get home from work. So desperately want to go back to 4.2.2.

yeah. cause that's how I got it on there, if I remember correctly. I put it on my internal SD or external SD, can't remember, but then it was recognized and I was able to get TWRP 2.6 on there. Then I was able to update to 2.8 which I'm currently on.

Ahk, as you can tell, I'm not the greatest with this, I know how to use fastboot, but which img should I flash with it?
Hey, this is because the phone is not fully rooted I think. Are you sure the bootloader is unlocked and you have successfully rooted? If you go into rom manager can you flash CWM?

Can you try going through the rooting process again the way you first did it?
I had this recently and when I rooted again it worked fine but it was the exact same issue. Hope it works out for you.
There's no ROM on the phone at all so what would the OP be actually rooting??
To the OP, go into CWM and then mount the SD card so Windows can read it. Then transfer the ROM you wish to use and flash it as before
Or restore the backup you obviously took before flashing a new ROM

Yeah as far as I am aware mounting usb in CWM won't work and never has. I also have never heard of or seen a GNex with an SD card.

LOL, I just answered this in another thread yesterday. You'll need to start all over by going back to stock Google images first.
Get the images here and be sure to pick the right GSM/LTE image:
http://code.google.com/android/nexus/images.html
Once you have the image, follow my steps in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1447888
Finally, you need to install su again for root and flash CWM again.
EDIT: BTW, should warn you that doing so will wipe everything on your phone.
You could always download a ROM to your PC. Then boot your phone into CWM. Select Storages and Mounts. Then mount as a USB Mass Storage. Then copy the ROM to your phone.

Has this worked for you? I've tried it before but CWM always fails to mount. I thought it's because GN doesn't have a dedicated SD card.
There is so much bad information here..
This phone WILL NOT MOUNT AS USB MASS STORAGE, therefore MOUNT USB in CWM does not work :/
If you are EVER stuck in this situation, you need to use fastboot to flash stock Google images as per three posts above me.
Not trying to be an ass, just get a point across.

I totally agree! I knew usb couldn't bemounted in CWM!!!Thanks for clearing it up.
If you can boot into CWM you do not need to use fastboot. Boot into CWM and ADB push a ROM into /data/media (your "sdcard") and CWM flash the ROM.
Here's my advice for people who want to tinker with their Android phones.
Learn these fundamentals:
1.) Basic Linux/Windows command lines
2.) ADB
3.) Fastboot
4.) Odin or other flashing utilities respective to your phone.
Troubleshoot your phone in this order (as available to your situation):
1.) ClockworkMod Recovery
2.) Fastboot
3.) Odin/Download mode, RUU, other flashing utilities

If that's the case then the mount options should be removed from CWM to stop confusion - I assumed it would connect as it does when booted

Nexus S doesn't have a sdcard, and it works on the NS. The reason why this functionality doesn't work in CWR is because Galaxy Nexus uses MTP and not USB mass storage. Therefore, it doesn't work.

CWM is widely distributed across many devices. They're not going to remove it and give Galaxy Nexus owners their own recovery if they don't need to. There shouldn't be confusion because this phone does not support UMS, and that is very clear. So "mount USB storage" obviously wouldn't work.

[Q] It keeps rebooting... recovery is not seandroid enforcement

Hi, I had the ROM DARTHSTALKER... and then I installed the Jedi elite to try a different one, but i wanted to go back to recover some messages of a girl, so I tried to restore the DARTHSTALKER backup from the ROM Jedi. It ended up in a loop, rebooting constantly... now I tried to UN-root it to begin from 0 and it keeps rebooting and telling me at the beginning in red: recovery is not seandroid enforcement and then some times if it loads, i says: optimizing apps... and then it says Finishing boot (it stays there for a while) and then the T-Mobil logo appears (it stays there for a while) and it reboot... After that it boots until it says: "process system isn't responding" and I have 2 options, wait or close, none of them work
How can I fix this I'm using TWRP Recovery
Thanks guys

you will need manually flash most likely the saberkernel green. Once you have it up and running, update your twrp. The older versions of recovery had restore issues.

Download the kernel .zip file and place on your sdcard . Hold down home+power+volup buttons to boot into recovery. Then flash the zip like any thing else.
Once back into the rom, use goomanager from play store. click menu and install recovery scrpit. Once done, it will ask you do you want to install twrp 2.6.3.7. yes you want to do this. Twrp 2.6.3.1 dn has known issues with the Note 3

On here's what you do, as I had the EXACT same problem that you have. I fixed my brickloop by doing the following:
(I would backup your efs partition before doing this, just for completeness sake)*
Installed Stock firmware via Odin,*
Installed TWRP 2.6.3.2 via odin, rebooted to recovery
Did an "adb shell" when phone is in recovery mode to run commands via TWRP
From the ADB shell: Wiped the EFS partition with the following command:
mke2fs /dev/block/mmcblk0p12*
mkdir /efs
mount -t ext4 /dev/block/mmcblk0p12 /efs
(the last two commands probably did nothing, but thats what I did anyway)
Did a Factory Reset*
Then... reboot to system
Afterwards, no more boot looping, the phone successfully registered on the mobile network, and my IMEI is there and correct. Seems like the EFS partition can rebuild itself now I guess...These commands can also be ran from TWRP

Not to sound like a jerk...but this is the reason why companies lock down bootloaders and what not. You can fix this issue that you caused by following a few steps or getting an SDCARD reader for your computer and transfer the files to it that way. They are dirt cheap. It is not Tmobiles fault that you screwed up a flash. Just my 2 cents.

[Q] No OS installed stuck in bootloader

Alright so Im having a problem, i bought the htc one m8 sprint version, and a system update came out for it. It was urgent it said and installed itself on my phone. After a while of using it my phone started force closing and rebooting constantly, to the point where i couldn't do anything.(my device was rooted before it was installed, the boot loader was unlocked and TWRP installed). I went to my TWRP settings to try and uninstall the update and somehow managed to wipe EVERYTHING in my phone, and it now says i have no OS installed. when i try to boot my device it gets stuck in the HTC load screen with the green logo, white background, and t says powered by android at the bottom and it goes no further. I tried to side load the viper one ROM and the G-apps and its saying its successful. But its still getting stuck in the load screen. I tried to go to my backups in TWRP restore and all of the ones are empty. can anyone help?
Go into fastboot, flash the latest TWRP, sideload or copy onto a sdcard a nandroid backup and back it up through twrp. that should do it

That behaviour reminds me of my 3 year old son....always touching and tapping the laptop but has no clue what he's doing.....but the difference is he's allowed to, he can't READ !

If you don't know what it is, why on earth are you wiping it?????

I'll be honest... I did this when I first got it. twrp was saying no OS installed so I got nervous and wipe happy, accidentally wiped it all. Lol. Goid thing I knew what I was doing though.

Yeah, but you knew what you had done (and how to recover) right?
Its the "I wiped OS guys, why don't I have an OS now?" that bugs me.
Usually accompanied by "I didn't bother to make a nandroid, have a ROM zip handy on the phone, or have adb setup".
I mean, we all make mistakes. Especially early on. But to make such a mistake, not be able to figure out (the fairly obvious) reason why it happened, and have made no preparations for recovery . . . its just not the right way to go about things.

Well I didn't fully understand what I had done until I swiped..... :-o just cause I was being a moron. But I knew full well how to sideload. I guess I can understand why we are seeing these cause twrp has some partition problems plus from what I've read GE & sense have different partitions as well. So flashing a custom recovery that says NO OS can freak some newbs out. And apparently me a little as well.

Help
I have a similar issue. My phone says no os. I can still get to twrp but nothing is there. no backups, no nothing. I've tried flashing ruu's and side loading but nothing takes. I keep getting errors. My boot loader is still unlocked, but now says s-on. Can anyone help?

Now it says s-on? I'm assuming you did firewater or sunshine then, and successfully got s-off. That's rather odd. You best best in my opinion is to get an external SD and dump a ROM on it. Also check for the unofficial twrp in original development under..... Oh crap I'll post it here. Hold up

When I try to flash a zip thru adb I keep getting FAILED (remote not allowed)
any idea how to get around that? I also tried several different roms on external sd card but they would not flash. Kept getting failed on twrp
Signature verification failed? What does getvar all say? Please post results? Did you achieve s-off before?

Did you do a factory reset in bootloader? This should never be done on a modded phone, as it corrupts the phone's internal memory. I haven't seen the issue of going back to S-on before on this device. But the other symptoms seem indicative of internal memory corruption.

[Q] custom ROM help with v5002d

Hey all,
Just got my Gpad 8.3 v50020d kitkat 4.4.2 yesterday. Trying to flash a CM ROM preferably, but having nothing but issues.
I was able to get TWRP 2.8 installed, and make a backup of stock. Have been able to wipe and restore no problems. But everytime I try to flash cm-11-20140910-INFECTED-v500 I get a failed error. Also, can't flash the KitKat gapps-kk-20140606.
Never had problems flashing custom ROMs on my ASUS tablet, galaxy S4, Hisense tablets, so a little guidance would be MUCH appreciated.
I must be overlooking something...please help all.
Thanks so much.
jt
V500 is very tricky tablet, i had issues too, but after few tries i was able to install slimrom, latest weekly build. The newest TWRP is a must, you can't install any ROM without it, so there is probably your problem. If not, try to wipe. First factory reset and then advanced wipe and check first 4 options I think. Flash ROM and it should work.
But I want to ask you - don't you have unmount SD issue? If not, try to monitor it after flashing ROM, it can appear and it's pain in the ass
Well I do know if you take the 4.4.2 OTA after purchase or you buy with 4.4.2 installed,
Its 10 times more of a pain to root/recovery/rom on 4.4.x base, it's a lot easier on 4.2.2 base.
As for TWRP I'm on 2.6.3.2 and never had any problems.

Appreciate the replies all.
After wiping again, I tried flashing CM 11.0 Nightlies and it worked without a hitch. Also flashed the same gapps zip but this time it worked. I don't know whats up, I was having external SD issues so I put the ROMs on internal storage as well.
Now that its all up and running, I have root, and no problems accessing external SD card. Also, knock on works as does my smart cover. Couldn't be happier. Incredible battery life and amazing speed.

probably the easiest way is using this TWRP Manager (ROOT) app from the Play store. It will allow you to install TWRP onto your rooted, unlocked bootloader device.
I did it a harder/longer way without the above app so try the TWRP Manager app first.
Good luck!

Just curious, has anybody confirmed that the TWRP manager app is compatible with the V500? Does it deal with the Loki exploit required for our tablet?

I would download the TWRP (for our device) of the xda thread to be honest,
And flash manually through a flashing app off Google Play (I use Flashify, but there a few on there)
In theory if it grabs the TWRP file for the V500 it would have the Loki patch in the recovery file, but I wouldn't take the chance just in case it grabs any random file lol
Manual is the best on the tablet itself, or do it through a PC and push the TWRP file through ADB to the recovery partition.
But now-a-days you just run the .bat files and it does all the mumbo jumbo for you and reboots straight to the recovery.
Hope all goes well!

I agree. Until somebody can confirm that this app works reliably with our tablet, I would go with the manual approach.

I can't remember all the details. But I'm pretty sure I put the 2.6 version of TWRP onto my internal storage, downloads folder, I think (I did have an external SD card installed too, but I can't remember where I put TWRP initially). Then installed it using the stock recovery...Once TWRP 2.6 was on there, I upgraded to 2.8. Then, made my stock backup and then flashed CM 11.

You're rooted right?
My device has an unlocked bootloader. Does yours say the same?
Which version of twrp are you trying to install?
Once above is done try using twrp manager in the play store.
Let me know how it goes.
How do I unlock the freaking bootloader? I have root and twrp but cant boot into it because of the locked bootloader
I am in the same boat. I have rooted my device and I can't get any further.

My Note 2 stuck on Boot screen and not able to flash any ROM

My Note 2 got stuck on boot. Every time I switch it on, it gets stuck on boot screen showing "Samsung Note II". I tried Hard resetting it but of no use. I even tried to do update from SD Card and tried flashing Already downloaded CM 12.1 made by @Ivan_Meler 's latest build. I was having this build already in my phone for last 15 days and it was working fine.
But now I am not able to anything with it now. I even went to Sumsung service center but guys there told me that you have it custumized and hence we cant do anything on it now.
Now While trying to flash any zip update from SDcard1, it is throwing error like "E: Couldn't mount/ block device required"
Please somebody help me.

I've tried factory reset but it did not fix the issue.
Download mode? was it the screen that tells me that installing custom OS can cause critical problems? If yes, then yeah i can enter the download screen.

Thanks for the prompt assistance,
but am I doing it right?
Im currently downloading firmware from Sammobile site and Odin3.10.
Or is there another way (or thread) wherein I can find the stock rom you've mentioned and also the tools for flashing?
Thanks.

Just finished flashing with Odin but the problem still exists. My phone is still stuck in the boot screen eventhough it has the message "PASS" on Odin.
Am I missing any step or still needs to proceed further? What will be my next step.

Done with the recovery clear cache and reset but it still loops on the boot screen.
Will rooting(or other methods) resolve this issue? Can i still root my phone at this state?
Hope you could still extend a few assistance here. I would really appreciate it. Thanks.
