[Q] Standalone/Native apps for android wear watches - Moto 360

Hey, I'd like to know some apps that you install using the phone, but which can be used when the phone is disconnected (not with you), so run natively on the watch.
Like, I install app A when I have my friends android phone, when I go home, I still want to use app A. I know there is a possibility for this as google said it. I know of the 2 apps: wear calc and wear compass. But surely, there should be more right? Anyone know some Watch-specific/native/standalone apps?
Thanks!

Anything that involved Internet connection is pretty much out. There are games that work when disconnected though. I have several of them. Just do some searching.

How does it behave without a BT connection?

Work no longer let's us carry our phones with us there for the 360 will spend a lot of its time with no phone connection. I'm assuming it will still keep time? I only ask because an early Sony smart watch couldn't. What else? Can you still set timers use the stop watch? Can you use apps that don't require Internet connection like a calculator?
Anyone?
I don't have one but if it's like the g watch you will be able to still use the functions you asked about.

That's what I would expect.. But you never know these days. I just didn't want some usless brick that says please sync all day.
Thanks
Yes, I can still check the time, set a timer, use the stop watch, etc. I haven't found a calculator app that works on the round display, yet.
It seems like voice recognition doesn't work, but anything you can run from the menu does. So you can set an alarm, timer, etc, though you have to use the touch interface which may not be as flexible.
I hope they give the option for offline voice recognition at some point. I think it would be very advantageous to be able to do basic tasks like setting reminders, alarms and creating notes etc. these could easily then sync once the phone is reconnected. There's no hardware reason why this wouldn't be possible it will just require implementation.

Also, if you put it in airplane mode, it doesn't even give you the voice prompt screen... instead it immediately shows the list of activities / apps you can do. Voice on that screen does not work at all. Too bad!

I'm pretty sure this is not possible. When you first take it out of the box, it asks for a language, after selecting one, no swiping, tapping, or anything else can get it from a screen saying to download the Wear app on your phone. It simply will not do anything until it does.
That's my experience, anyway. I couldn't get anything until my phone synced.

Yeah I talked to motorola customer service and they said that it won't ask that if it doesn't detects a android phone nearby. Hope this is true.
You have access to all of your watch apps like still. All apps that depended on your phone (like google now) won't work anymore. Basically what you'd expect.

[Q] Use Apps on watch without phone READ

Hello.
I'm planning on buying an android wear watch. I currently have an iPhone, and will be getting an android phone for sure in 6 months (iPhone bill still goes for 6 months). I was wondering, can I install apps on my friends android phone, install them to my watch, and then when I go away, still use those apps.
Like, calculator, small games etc..?
I understand I need a phone to set them up, and that, I have. I also understand I can't get notifications on my watch without the phone. but apps installed on the watch like a calculator, can be used without the phone, or not?
Thanks!

Calculator can work without phone. And some game. And also you can change some watch face without phone.
But to be honest, this watch real usage is to push notification(email, sms, whatapp, agenda, alarm) to watch for you easy access. If money is not your concern than go for it now and play. Otherwise wait you get android phone to have full usage of it.
Or you may can look into samsong gear S watch will be in market this month, it can do lots of thing without phone.

[Q] Cannot use apps on new Moto 360

UPDATE: It just started working correctly about a half hour after doing all this. If you will tell me how to delete this thread, I will, I cannot find a delete button anywhere.
Hello everyone,
I have scoured the internet and this forum but have not seen anyone else with a similar problem. I like to think I'm pretty tech savvy, but I could just not be using the damn thing correctly. I just purchased a Moto 360, and I have a Samsung Galaxy S5. All my OS are up to date. I have Motorola Connect and the Android Wear app installed. I still cannot get 3rd party apps to appear on my watch. I contacted Motorola and they suggested clearing my system cache (which I didn't think would help but did anyway).
I found a thread on here about the new watch faces not appearing, so I followed the instructions there to completely reset my watch and phone so that everything was back to default. I've reset the watch back to factory, I removed all Android Wear apps from my phone, I even removed AdBlock Plus and everything related to the Samsung Fit that I had just in case they were causing problems. I then reinstalled the Motorola Connect and Android Wear apps, and had the Android Wear look for the watch as a new device.
I still cannot get any apps to appear on the watch, and I bought this specifically so I could use Viper's new SmartsStart 4.0 app when they release it.
Am I just doing something wrong, is it defective, or is there something else?
Thanks in advance.

Don't delete! I just got a Moto360 and have the same problem. Thank you for putting the UPDATE, I'll wait awhile and see if the 3rd apps I downloaded transfer to the watch. I've already tried to sync it and I've tried restarting the watch.

Google Fit not counting steps without phone

Hi all,
I couldn't find a similar topic in the SW3 forum, so apologies if this is a duplicate. I'm finding my SW 3 (running 5.1.1) will not count my steps on its own, only when I have my phone with me. I only got the watch a couple weeks ago, so not sure if it is a problem with the 5.1.1 update. As far as I understand, the watch should be able to count the steps on its own and then sync with my phone later...is this not correct? I know it has GPS to track runs with Endomondo, but I thought it had its own pedometer as well.
If this is indeed supposed to work, any ideas to fix it?
Welcome to the nightmare that is google fit. It's just awful and broken. Sync always screws up between the watch and the phone. It really is a joke. I honestly don't understand how google can allow something like this to happen. I use the jawbone up app, only version 4.4 because the latest update broke android wear compatibility. Works perfectly. I'll just wait till google get their act together. Hopefully it'll be soon.

Sync doesnt work properly with messages either if you dismiss it on the watch it still shows on the phone and tablet.

Oh, darn. I really wanted this watch for the fitness features. Bummer that one doesn't work.
edit: So I'm doing some testing and I suppose it really is Fit not syncing. Present my watch indicator for steps (Pujie Black, that is supposed to be connected to Fit) says 2282. Google Fit (app on watch and phone) says 2223. I just left my phone and walked around the office a bit. Indicator didn't change from 2282, but when I opened the Fit app on my watch I saw it quickly change from 2223 to 2249 and then back to 2223. Phone also says 2223. That is incredibly frustrating.

permissions off?
try going into the settings and then permissions, i found that in the permissions menu google fit did not have permission to access the sensors, this could possibly be the problem

Android Wear 2.0 paired with an IPhone

How is your Huawei watch working with an iPhone following the new update? I presently don't own an iPhone but am jumping ship when the IPhone8 drops. I want to use my Huawei watch with the iPhone. Just curious to hear your pros and cons.

AW 2.0 isnt working with my iPhone 6s. Cant force the update with repeated taps on update screen becuase I cant force the watch to wifi (not an option). Any help from somebody that got it to work with an iPhone would be appreciated.
Am I the only one with an iPhone and a Huawei watch? Comments on other threads got me thinking I am not missing out on much.
same here. how does one get to wifi when using an iphone?
I manually flashed Android Wear 2.0 last night, as far as I can tell, everything is working just as it did on 1.5 with my iPhone 7plus

You can flash AW2.0 using adb
Got a notification that an update was available this afternoon. Going through the instal now. Ill let you guys know if there are any hiccups.
Everything seems to be working pretty well. Any of us iPhone users able to figure out how to respond to text messages directly? Is it supported with ios messaging?
Google maps isnt working. Cant respond to text messages. Not seeing any apps that make me excited. Pretty limited functionality improvement. New watch faces are cool, but the weather, phone battery status etc. complications dont function. I may be missing something but function wise I dont see significant improvement for the iPhone users the way that I was expecting it to. Would love some help or some insight from other users if they have a short review or tips for doing some of the things I think I am missing.

I don't have one yet but thank you for your feedback. Hopefully someone has some insight to help you out.
I'm using the elements watch face and the complications work great in android. Try using elements analog or digital. Long press the watch face and that should get you into settings. Tap on data and pick your complications. Also make sure you've opened the app connected to the complication. Hope this helps

Hello, I can confirm your info i have the same.
I was waiting for the AW2 to switch to my iPhone 6s.
I own multiple devices iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone 6S and a Galaxy S5.
Previously I was on my galaxy S5 with my Huawei watch with AW 1.5.
the only good thinks it's the play store, not all watch face are compatible but some are.
for the weather, I have Pujie Black watch face it works.
hi everyone. i am using my huawei watch with an iphone device for a couple of months now. just have a question about it. is there any way that i can answer or make a call on my watch like andoird?! i really missed that.
Updating to Android Wear 2.0: (Verified by a few users). This is for the Huawei Watch and an iPhone.
Have the watch connected to the charger.
Remove and re-install the IOS Android app.
Unpair the watch and start over.
In Settings go to System/About/System Updates.
Wifi is NOT working yet. Choose Bluetooth in the update process and download the update.
Upon completion of the update you should have the wifi setting . Now you have access to the Play Store and all the new features of Android Wear 2.0.

Weather works fine.
The fitness part on iPhone is non existing. Google fit doesn't sync and Huawei Wear doesn't have Huawei watch as an option... So all things fitness stays on the watch sadly.
