after updating my titan to 8107 the thing that manifested itself was the drastic reduction in battery life.i was getting 2 days easy out of the battery. tried shutting off wifi, bluetooth locations etc to no avail.reset etc nothing worked.after a full recharge i unplugged the phone tonight and it said 15 hours life left on a 100% battery.restored the phone to 7740 and immediately with the wifi back on etc i had 1 day 13 hours battery life left.the two things i noticed that i can do on 7740 i can't do on 8107 is turn off 3g and i live in an area of no 3g and the find my phone is disconected so i'll be sticking with 7740.
I am on unofficial 8107 pushed update. No issues as mentioned above. Easily at 25-27 hours with auto screen brightness and data sync.

I appreciate you probably live in a 3g area which means your phone is not constantly looking for something that isn't there, but where I am in rural Scotland I only have 2g but atleast I now get 48hrs battery life again.
Do a hard reset. I have a Quantum, and after Mango the battery life was horrid. However last week I did a hard reset, and I'm back to showing 1 day 4 hours, etc on a full charge. And can now generally get through a day without having to charge my phone at work.
i noticed a reduction on battery too, mine says 18 hours just unplugged from fully charged, i'll try hard reset thing
---------- Post added at 02:18 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:46 PM ----------
after hard reset it says 1 day and 7 hours battery!! I hope it's true
do you guys realize that the time is just an average based on your use? If you hard reset, it gets reset. Doesn't effect how long it will last though. If you use your phone and play lots of games the 1st day and drain it, it will say 11 hours next time you charge it. But if you don't use it much the next it will say 13 or 14. it could last 18 or 2 days. It is showing what the estimated average based on your usage will be. Mine says 14 hours. Sometimes during the day it drops to 9 if i play a few games. then after it sits for a few hours it may say 17. After about 3 weeks or so though it gives you a true average based on how you usually use the phone.

I know if you're running music or streaming and you check it, the number changes. I figured it was based on what is in the memory or based on what's been happening just before you checked.
I do know that since my hard reset I'm getting longer battery life. Feels like 30% more.
I don't understand why they would compute all these useage averages, instead of just a true estimate as to how much power is left. What would be the benefit?
I always had the impression that the number of remaining hours is true if I continue to use the phone as I am doing right now. So when I am playing a game and it says 2 hours remaining and I stop playing the game and lock the screen, after two hours the phone will still have battery left etc.
Instead of a hard reset you can also try to run your battery completly empty and then charge it again to 100% to recalibrate it. I think recalibration of the battery has been helpful in the past after updates.
HTC Titan, updated from 7740 to 8107. I averaged 1 day of battery life with 7740, ever since updating and hard resetting, I now average 2.5 days. The problem is not with 8107, the problem is with your device stevov.

sorry mate as i explained on the other thread he device works fine.8107 is eating the battery due to the settings restrictions. phone works sweet as on 7740 and has never displayed any of the problems that the us titans have.phone works brilliant on 8107 also. just eats the battery. just incase you missed it i don't get 3g or edge where i am.

OK let's just continue this here (lol)
Your real issue is that you need to be able to turn off 3G, correct? It's 3G searching for a signal that kills your battery, not 8107. If your 3G toggle is missing after you update, see if you can use provxml on your device and apply the reg tweak for showing the 3G toggle option, then turn 3G off.
Here's the thread with the registry tweaks
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=907971&highlight=3g+toggle
8107 should not cause any battery issues. it just a minor, very minor update..
Its not like going form nodo to mango
thanks for the replies guys. as someone who was just getting to grips with reg edit on my touchpro2 from what i've seen so far reg edit on 7.5 is not quite the same. i'm content in my own mind as to the cause and i'm happy with 7740.maybe the issue will get addressed down the line.

Stevov mate, the issue isn't with 8107. If your phone, any phone, any OS, any update - is going to keep looking for 3g or keep jumping between 2g/3g it keeps radio active, using up battery. You either need to just choose 2g, if you can or move to a 3g area (that's not happening, is it?). But if 7740 makes that radio a little calmer for you, perhaps its a placebo effect?
aye Drupad, Wee Bear over on wpcentral says i should move too.phone is happily running on 2g 12 hours off the charger everything on and 82% battery left.if there was just something like skyfire or operamini for browsing i would be a happy man but from what i hear thats not till ie10.in a world of 3 and 4g i live in 2g

He is right. I don't have a source but I've followed my battery status very carefully and came to the same conclusion. I have a friend with an LG C900 and he doesn't use data connection (which is what drains battery the most) and his estimated battery is 4 days and a few hours.

Yeah I haven't found documentation on this but as said above, if you follow your battery status you will see. Use the phone hard, check battery, it will say left. Let it sit for an hour, and it will say more. Now as the e
Weeks do by it will average out and not fluctuate as much. ( mine now usually says 13-14 hours on work days and 17 on weekends)

Interesting. I'm gonna have to check that out. But that's kind of odd, shouldn't it be the reverse? So like if you used your phone hard shouldn't it be optimizing itself so that you'll have more reserve versus the days you use the phone less?
Ok so now weve all had a decent play with our OX whats everyones thoughts?

Not much playing to be had here, battery life is just way too poor.
Are you considering a switch i lv put the ox back in the box an using my gs2 in hope a fix comes via OTA for all the little bugs

Arthur. You're boring.
If your device is that bad then send it back as it's clear you're having a lot more problems than everyone else.
no problems here in anyway battery life is fine handset running smooth and fastttttt....................superb device love mine !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
After I found a way to move my Angry bird space progress without Titanium backup, I'm content using un-rooted one x for now.
I'd like to use Adblock for web browsing and Autostarts to stop some apps from running, but ICS RAM management seems to be working fine.
Battery life seems OK, got 3 hrs 40 mins with full screen brightness and 3G on 2nd full charge.

I will send it back after the bank holiday IF I can get an RMA off Handtec.
I won't quit moaning about it, the OP asked for an opinion so I gave it. It's a big chunk of change to put down on a device to have something important let you down.
It's hard to appreciate a device when you can only get 3 hours screen time off a 3 hour charge.
It totally undoes all of the good work HTC have done with it. If you took the battery life of say an iPhone 4 and applied it here, it would be hands down the best piece of kit ever to come out. Literally.
I wouldn't use it as often at home because that is what the laptop and high end gaming PC is there for, so when out and about without access to a plug socket you want it to be at least reasonable. It seriously isn't.
Waiting for software / firmware updates when you have a limited time frame to return it is too much of a risk.
If HTC would have pushed 1.27 on launch day as anticipated a lot of this ill feeling wouldn't be here.
Your buying a device that is different to what is in the reviews.
Battery isn't great but its nothing different than other android phones.
ok so having had it since 7am this morning i must say its amazing, its buttery smooth, not had 1 bit of lag or stutter,
as it stands atm its currently on 9 hours 17 mins and the use i have been doing is
downloaded 7 apps,
installed gta3 from tegra zone which the download to play is 492mb over wifi,
took about 30 odd pics 2 videos 35 secs each
phone calls for about 45 mins total
set up dropbox, browsed ebay for 7 mins and brought 2 items,
ran 4x benchmarks
browesed market place for about 10 mins
sent and recieved around 40 texts,
played around on facebook,
as im a phone shop manager i treated myself for a comparison on it with
the razr
xperia s
s2
my nexus s
mainly cameras , benchmarks speed tests, really testing day .
1 major astonishment i found was
i managed to take come off lock screen boot camera-take a pic before the xperia s got into camera mode. winner,
but so far so good no issues from me and my sexy white x
cheers,

Whats the problem,
At the moment, I'm getting a very similar screen on time to my SGS2 (3+hrs) & my HTC ONE X screen is much brighter then I ever had it on my SGS2.
Its also a known fact (due to reviewers) that 1.27, which we don't have yet, 'dramatically' improves battery life with 1.28 'rumoured' to extend it even further!

I guess it is the chance we take on buying the device at launch, there always going to be problems both hardware and software we sometime so-called "bata tester" get stuck with.
You could just return it and wait for couple of months to see if HTC made any improvmements.

That is what I don't understand about this launch.
The phone reviewed isn't what we have. The reports of battery life and such aren't what we have paid for.
I contacted HTC by email , phone and Twitter and nobody has any ETA and even deny knowledge of an update coming for general release soon.
I just want the device the reviewers had.

Even without the update, your still getting a battery life very similar to Samsungs current flagship device (which has had a few software updates) - this is with a much brighter screen, a larger HD screen & a quad core processor when compared to the SGS2.
Are you just pissed you haven't got the 1.27 update (& don't know when you will...), or do you really think the battery is that bad?
I know 1.27 is gonna improve the battery, but even in its current state - when I compare it, it ain't that bad compared to the competition.

I had the SGS2 and the battery life is better than what we got here, seriously.
And I did have a Sensation around launch , it was glitchy but again the battery life was not this poor.
But it could also be a case of not noticing it as much because I could carry a spare battery if need be, but never felt the need to use it.
Today our car broke down on the motorway and after calling the RAC then having to get a tow, the battery was nearly depleted and I had the worry of whether it would last long enough to take the call from when they arrived.
Then having to send a few texts to let people know we wouldn't be getting there, just how on earth are you meant to appreciate the greatness of this phone with the constant battery worries?
Random point, but do this.
Go into the Play store, scroll down the free apps for a short while, then check your battery status. 3 or 4% down having done practically nothing.
Such are the risks of getting a v1.0 anything I'm afraid, it will almost always not be as good as v1.1+. You take the chance of having initial issues vs. having the latest greatest device first. This has always been the way, some of the early release iPhones have had terrible problems until receiving patches.
At the moment I'm loving the phone, I don't think the battery is all that bad so far, but looking forward to the updates making it better, I'm certainly happy with the choice I made, no question.

Think I will try a swap out for another, see how that fares. If it is exactly the same then atleast I know i've given it a fair roll of the dice.
It's like I am really hoping there is something wrong with mine, and the battery isn't how it's meant to be but the pattern is common on here and usage stats are all pretty much the same.
I wouldn't say its right to compare it to the iPhone neither. HTC have had plenty of time to get this right. I've had the Hero> Desire > Sensation and now this. Each time I keep expecting them to "get it right" and they never quite make it.
The craziest thing is, the Hero is still my pick of the bunch judging by how I felt at the time and the fact I added a hench battery and made it even better.
i think alot of users were expecting too much from the phone massive hype led to a kick in the nuts for some .. ????take the phone as it is, if battery is going to make or break your decision then a machine like this maybe isnt for you.
end of the day it is android 4 with sense 4 big screen quad core - expect battery to be poor until you have a few cycles and updates are sent out, dhd was worse i had 2 off them....
cheers
Im getting my HTC One X on Tuesday next week from phones4u hopefully, cant wait!. But ive read such a difference in people experiences with the battery life of this phone that im not sure what to make of it! lol, ill just have to wait and see I guess and report back how i find it, it promising to see that the majority, correct me if im wrong, of UK users seem to be reporting good battery life though!
I have had my Note 8 for a couple of months and just recently I have been having battery problems. I restored the Note 8 to factory settings (just to be sure) and am still having the same problem.
It seems that when I watch videos or play any games the battery depletes extremely quickly e.g Its 80%, I start to play the game and within 3-5 minutes the battery is 30%. I play again and its 5% and the screen dims (which is also a pain in the ....) I realise that Games and Apps use a lot of power but surely not this much.
I have looked around for battery calibration instructions and apps but are a bit dubious to try them as I have read that you can deplete the battery totally and the device then wont charge.
Just wondered if anybody else has had the same problem.
Thanks.
My note has a great battery life. For this situation I would look in the battery menu for any apps not closing correctly thus sucking battery. Remember to dis activate GPS, Bluetooth and data when not using them. Check the screen brightness is 50% or less. Automatic brightness should be fine also.
here's a lot of info related to batteries. I'm sure you will find it usefull

Don't waste time with calibration. Sounds like the battery ifs failing or dying, either way it's bad.

I usually have Bluetooth and GPS turned off and have the screen on Auto Brightness. I also restored to factory and the problem still persists.
One strange thing is that when I charge it from 10% it takes about 50 minutes to get to 100%. I thought that was a bit quick. The battery must be reporting the wrong charge to the OS. I wish they had user replaceable batteries in this thing although its probably not practical.
I will give Samsung a call. Cannot beleive it has happened now as I am off on holiday soon to the US and wanted to use it there.
Thanks.

same with me chas0001, and JCUK89, my situation is actually identical to chas0001, but my device is like a mth old now, i received it on august 5th 2013,
so its basically been used for jus over a mth now. and i barely use it, maybe 3 hrs a day, most days less than 1 hr, constant use.
i dont kno, can anyone help. on xda developers. ??
I called Amazon.co.uk (where I bought it from) and they agreed to replace it for me. Its was definitely faulty and unusable. I kept reading about people with the similar problems and so eventually decided to not get a replacement but a refund.
Its a shame really. I really liked the device but I need something more reliable. I also don't care for Samsung with their constantly delayed OS updates. 4.1.2 for a 'flagship' device. Surely if they get rid of that Touchwiz crap they can release timely updates. You never know even my Note 2 may get an OS update this year!

Does any one else get terrible battery life on their Note 7? I get on average 10-13 hrs of battery life, with around 3-4 hours of SOT. I noticed that my android os and android system are usually running around 20 and 30 percent respectively. If you guys have any thoughts or are experiencing similar results any advice would help. Yeah I am getting this too
I'm also getting this. It's incredibly frustrating as I've tried disabling everything and we can't figure out why
since last week i been getting the same and i'm pretty sure its an app that i d/l'ed bc i added a couple since then...
If you use Maps it drains a crap ton, which I think there is something wrong with it on Note 7.
I called Verizon and they are going to send me a replacement device since this is still under my 14 day return window. Hopefully that may change things but who knows. They also mentioned something about having occulus apps installed will drain battery but I don't have any of that. My old Note 4 was great and this Note 7 is fantastic but does not live up to the "Note" standard of battery life I've come to know and love.
That sucks guys I'm getting 6 to 6 and half hours of screen on time and I'm beyond surprised @ how incredible this battery is..
Ditto. 6 plus everyday. Actually better than my first.

Screen on time may not be a great way to judge battery life. You need a breakdown of everything using the battery. Different apps will use different amounts of battery and even the same apps like chrome will be different person to person cause of browsing habits. It all depends what you do on your phone.

Would you mind sharing a couple things like screen brightness, if you use maps, what services are on, if you listen to music, and how much of a power user you are? I am also getting around 3-4 hours of screen on time and would love to get 6.

Impressive. I didn't know the note 5 got that much screen on time. I range anywhere from 6-9 on my note 7. Does the note 5 feel that much diff than the 7? I'm going to guess it doesn't have the always on screen. I've really become used to that.

Actually, it's not that bad.. I didn't know it was possible either to be honest.. I just set it up like the 7, and this is what I received.. The battery life is so far seeming to be much like the note 7 for me.
It feels a little heavier in the hand, and wider.. It doesn't give that "ultimate" comfort in the hand like the 7 did, but it's surprisingly comfortable.. Much more so than I thought..
And lol, yes, it actually does have the always on display. It received it in the marshmallow update.. To be honest, from what I can tell so far, the only things major it does not have, are, of course micro slot(this one sucks, but there are tiny micro usb adapters for cheap), the iris scanner(i actually loved this, but oh well), the GIF feature of screen capture(i hope they incorporate that, at some point), and that's pretty much it.. Oh, and of course the edge and no secure folder. But I'm hoping, because of this fiasco, they will roll some of the software features from the 7 to the 5, like the GIF and secure folder.. Not to mention, bring back the eraser function of the pen like it originally was on the notes, and that they incorporated into the 7.
There are indeed a few sacrifices to it that I've discovered in my first couple days of owning it. But nothing that would make me want to go to a non pen s7 or edge.. It even has the pro camera features.. So I'm pretty good and settled actually with it.. I've got my gear 2 paired with it, and functioning normally, all my s notes.. And it's cheaper than the 7.. Now I'm not going to hardly say it's a 7, but at this point, we don't have a choice(unless your going to just try to hold on to your 7 for dear life)..
But it's a very decent alternative to be honest.. It really is..
From note 5.. rip note 7
Hello XDA developers
I am very surprised to see that after installing one UI 2.0 the battery performance got the worst
I am getting 5 hours plus screen on time on one UI 2 beta while I got 7 hour plus screen on time on the one UI pie
The device care section is pretty disgusting it shows daily screen on time instead of the screen time from the last full charge
Pretty frustrated with this update

Well what do you expect from a BETA update? You should've just waited for the stable release.

It is call beta.
We almost need a sticky for everytime a beta is released.
Downloading a beta and then being surprised that it isnt running perfect means you probably shouldn't be on it.
It's like taking an experimental drug and being surprised at unforeseen side effects.
Edit: Then again it's not like anyone would read it.
I don't agree with you and I don't know how you measure it since is not really clear if the new battery usage graph changes something. In my personal daily usage I've been surprised some days, getting more than 6 hours of screen in 30 hours since plugged. Most was on wifi, radio signal influence a lot specially if it's weak.
Anyway I noticed some drains that are typical of samsung software, some days just for using spotify for 2 hours on the buds the phone would lose 30% while others 5% checking it some times
does the phone or android 10 have to learn battery saving first i know some phones do. and it may be your apps anything can happen. just tell us what you have done to set it up and maybe we can help

Yes, and battery life gets better after about the 3rd full charge so give it 4 days , and 3 over night charges , before it can be discussed. The latest beta is not bad , in terms of battery, and it is not better than Android 9. I am sure over time it will improve, and the stable release should be at least as good as pie.
Note from the moment the beta was flashed, statistics and predicted time to die where not given. Now that it does, it keeps saying that it will last less than a day (about 22-23 hours) and I have seen 1day+ prediction on pie , but over all it seem to be same SOT and same life of battery between charges, under same conditions and apps for my phone..
