I rooted my phone (stock 4.2.2 ROM) about a year ago with this method. I'd like to update to 4.4.4 - what is the correct way to go about it since OTA won't work? My phone isn't carrier locked. Can I just flash any stock 4.4.4 ROM and apply this same procedure and be done with it?

man after it rebooted automatically i wasnt fast enough to press up volume button and home button and it reeboted normally, what can i do now?

Hello,
thank you so much.
I have now root and recovery with my stock rom.
But no USB Storage...!
Hope there comes a fix
Ciao

Where can I find CWM 6.0.5.1 for my G-9195.
Same error: I have no mirco SD-Card.

Lost connection to Sprint
I have a Sprint SPH-L520 as well, I followed the instructions and rooted this phone without a problem using Odin, got CWM and CM10.3 installed just fine but lost all connection to Sprint as well as no menu or back buttons working. I thought it was a problem with CM10.3 so I updated the kernel and CM11, no luck.
Can anyone help me figure out where I went wrong? Here's my set up:
Sprint SPH-L520 (GT-I9195)
Brisk V2 KK Kernel
CM 11
No cell reception, or illuminated buttons working.
Wifi, Bluetooth, Camera, Compass, GPS all work
Any ideas? Please help, It's my wife's new phone and she's gonna kill me.

The sprint variant is a CDMA phone, so the GT-I9195 (GSM) ROM will not fully work. You might try this instead: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2669991
It doesn't seem to be kept updated anymore though.

Hi is this method will work on my s4 mini shv-e370k? I already rooted my phone using odin and I want install cwm so that I can fully backup my rom, thank you sorry for my english

CWM 6.0.5.1 for Galaxy S4 Mini LTE
Hi all
1st time posting on xda since I had my old XDA Mini!!! (though not the 1st time I've viewed threads recently)
I was trying to request some info in relation to
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=55933970&postcount=978
but it will not let me post as I've had to get a new user name etc since I can't remember my old login & no longer have my old email address.
Question was
Is there somewhere I can download CWM 6.0.5.1 for Galaxy S4 Mini LTE (serranoltexx) so I can install with my 1st install of CM11 instead of getting update later via CM?
Thanks

I followed the instructions and everything in odin went fine and I can reboot into cwm recovery but once there I am unable to proceed further because when I mark "install zip" and click the marker returns to "reboot system now". Regardless of which alternative I choose, even reboot system now, the marker returns to "reboot system now" and I am forced to remove the battery to exit and when I unplug the phone odin shows a green "pass". Grateful for any help I can get.

Vibrating stopped working after rooting
Followed the guide at;
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2364980
First of all, thanks very much arco68 for the work on this.
The rooting process worked like a charm, no problem at all with the steps in the guide BUT...
...when done and rebooting phone into normal mode the vibrating has stopped working.
Im pretty sure it isn't a hardware problem.
Can it be something with the kernel flashed in the rooting process?
Have tested to do the whole process with newly downloaded files once again to be sure there wasn't any problem with the files etc.
Please help!

Ollson

[Q] Regarding "[RECOVERY][ROOT] Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini (GT-I9195)" new Rootkit v2
Hi,
since there is the "you must be bigger than 10 posts to submit here" barrier in the original "[RECOVERY][ROOT] Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini (GT-I9195)" thread, I have to ask it here:
Arco updated the thread with a new rootkit version, that replaces some of the utilities. So can I now just flash that, although I used the version before?
Is there an easy to understand guide for all of this, that explains what can/should be updated when?
Like answers to the questions:
1. I rooted my device, can I just root it again with newer versions?
Not yet done, but probably coming soon:
2. I added a custom ROM, what do I need to do to go back to a backup of an old one?
3. I added a custom ROM, can I just flash a new version?
Sorry for asking this, but every time I flashed something (e.g. router, old phone) it would pretty much erase anything that was there before. So no problem with newer versions. Reading the instructions here always make me feel like it is a thing of putting together bits and pieces and if one is wrong you might brick it?!
Greetings
Chris
That was the purpose for the FAQ I posted earlier.

Sorry for bumping or using a random topic, but I as well couldn't post on the original development thread because of the 10 post restriction. Sorry if I make a dumb question or anything, I'm quite desperate and have been reading tons of info and haven't been able to find a solution to my problem:
1) I installed Cyanogenmod 10.1 following their instructions, CWM was involved in there.
2) I tried rooting the gt-i9195L (the L stands for latin), I didn't do anything with Odin, only CWM and the samsung galaxy s4 mini rootkit v2, but I think I bricked my phone. After reboot, it just shows a black screen, button lights go on and off, and sometimes it shows a brown screen. Is there a way to undo this or any solution you consider appropriate for this?
Again, sorry for going off-topic in here, thanks in advance!

Black screen is probably because the kernel is not compatible with your device. Use S4Mini_RootKit_v1.zip instead for rooting. To fix the boot issue, you would either need to download stock rom from http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/ and flash with Odin. Or get a copy of the boot partition from someone else with that device, and flash it in recovery.

I installed v1 as you suggested. There was no stock ROM for Mexico, but I tried Puerto Rico (which worked without problems) and then reinstalled CM10.1 without factory reset/wipe data. Everything was on place, and phone is now rooted Thanks a bunch!

[Q] Phone stuck at logo after flashing stock ROM

Hi,
This is my first post here on the XDA forum so if I make any mistakes, please do tell.
So, I got a Galaxy Ace 2 (I8160) which was running unrooted and stock at Android 2.3.6 (if I recall correctly).
I decided I wanted the phone to run at a newer Android version (KitKat preferred), so I decided to look into Cyanogenmod 11.0.
I succesfully installed the Clockworkmod Recovery after soms attempts and after that I was able to install Cyanogenmod 11.0 running on Android 4.4.4.
My first impression was positive, until I noticed I regularly got some error messages about com.android.phone which stopped working.
On top of this, the phone had no service and I was unable to make any calls (also selecting a service provider made com.android.phone crash).
After a lot of looking around on the internet, I found out this could be caused because I flashed Cyanogenmod 11.0 directly from Android 2.3.6.
On another tutorial I read I should've flashed Cyanogenmod 11.0 from any Jellybean version but as I stated earlier, I flashed it from a Gingerbread version.
On another forum I found someone who used to have the same issue and stated that he made the same mistake as I did (flashing from a non-Jellybean version).
He said he flashed a stock Jellybean ROM to his phone, installed Clockworkmod Recovery and at last flashed Cyanogenmod again and everything seemed to be working just fine.
I decided to do the same and flashed a stock Jellybean ROM for the I8160 using Odin v3.07.
After Odin told me the flash process passed, the phone rebooted but was stuck at the Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 logo.
When trying to get into the recovery, I got the same problem and the only thing I saw was the startup logo.
If I'd turn off the phone and plug in to my computer (which normally shows the battery percentage) it'd be stuck at the loading icon (normally this loading icon is visible for about 5 seconds and after that the battery percentage is visible).
I'm still able to get into download mode, so I tried reflashing the same ROM but unfortunately without success.
I used the following stock ROM: samsung-updates.com/details/28857/Galaxy_Ace_2/GT-I8160/XEN/I8160XXNB1.html.
I've been using the Cyanogenmod 11.0 and GApps files from: maclaw.pl/downloads/.
Does anybody have any idea about how I coud fix this?
Thanks in advance.
EDIT: Just tried flashing a stock ROM with Android 2.3.6, problem is still there: samsung-updates.com/details/18868/Galaxy_Ace_2/GT-I8160/H3G/I8160NELG2.html

Thanks for you reply.
I came across this 3-parted firmware flash a few hours ago.
I'm trying it right now. I'll let you know what the results are.
Alright, another update. (My problem seems to be fixed!)
At first I tried downloading the 3 files neccessary for the new flash method, but for some reason it'd take me hours to download them.
I started looking on the internet for the same files and found a torrent link on another forum leading to a torrent file uploaded here, on the XDA forums: http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1757643&d=1361735404.
I downloaded the files in the torrent and used them properly in Odin.
The flashing process started and at about 80% Odin gave me a nasty error message saying the flash failed...
At that moment I was seriously hopeless and pretty sure I've just succesfully hard-bricked my phone.
I tried to start it and I got a weird message saying a firmware update went wrong and that I should fix it using Samsung Kies.
As it stated, I tried using Samsung Kies but was unable to get my phone to work.
I was out of options so I decided to give the 3-way flashing method a second chance.
Oding started flashing and for some reason finished succesfully this time.
The phone reboots, and shows the 'Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 GT-I8160' message for a few minutes.
After that the Samsung logo pops up and I've waited for another few minutes until a new screen pops up.
I see the Android guy and a blue progress bar underneath and patiently waits untill it's done.
After this I see the Samsung logo again and the phone finally boots to Android! Great Success!
Conclusion in my case: The 3-parted firmware seemed to do the trick for me.
As I stated above, the first flash failed but the second one was totally succesfully and revived my phone.

Yeb - you can use also the 3-parted MB4 (which was an very early JB FW).
But as the MB4 is not 100% complete - I still recommend only to use the 3-parted FWs linked by me (which ChuckMichael shows you)
But anyway - If your Phone booted you are done - You do not need to to it again. Just flash afterwards the newst original FW available.

WARNING! ONLY USE THIS ON THE GT-I9192 MODEL!
Hello all S4 Mini owners!
I'm happy to finally release ClockworkMod recovery and an insecure kernel for the GT-I9192. With these two installed on your device, obtaining root is easy.
Attached to this post is the necessary files needed for this task. Download the following files:
Odin_v3.09.zip (if you don't have it already)
recovery-clockwork-6.0.5.0-serranodsdd.tar.zip
S4Mini_RootKit_v2.zip (contains SuperSU v1.89 and BusyBox v1.21.1)
Extract recovery-clockwork-6.0.5.0-serranodsdd.tar.zip file to your computer.
The procedure is as:
Copy the "S4Mini_RootKit_v2.zip" to your device SD card.
Turn off the phone.
Press and hold home, volume down and power. Download screen should appear.
Connect USB cable, and press volume up.
Start Odin, uncheck "F. Reset Time", and then click AP button.
Select "recovery-clockwork-6.0.5.0-serranodsdd.tar.md5" file that you previously extracted, and press Start button. The phone will reboot when finished.
After the phone resets (it vibrates) IMMEDIATELY hold volume up and home buttons to boot into recovery mode.
Select the option to install the ZIP file you have previously copied to your device and begin flashing it.
After flashing using CWM, reboot into system and enjoy your rooted device.
To get rid of the the warnings about applications doing not permitted actions, delete the following files from system/app, or let SuperSU fix it for you.

Can I root only GT-I9192?
Dear Sir,
Thanks a lot for your effort, I'm not professional in android or programming so please help me and explain in details how can I root my phone without installing AOSP or CWM. My devise is S4 mini GT-I9192 build no. I9192XXUBNB1 with Kernel V 3.4 and Knox V 1.0
I want to keep stock room of Samsung.
Something else, the speed and performance of my phone will be effected because of rooting to be less than before?
Thanks a lot
Hello, will this work on my S4 mini I9192 4.2.2?
internal storage /storage/sdcard0 became read only after root on I9192XXUBNB1
well i rooted the device using this method and the phone is rooted and everything is fine but now the problem is that the internal storage /storage/sdcard0 is read only.
so most of the the applications dont work because they cant write anything to internal storage (viber cant send any image for example).
and when i try create a folder or delete a file using ES explorer , it fails.
but the strange thing is that the Photo app can store photos on the internal storage.
my phone is I9192XXUBNB1
so any help on this issue?
thanks
thanks guys
Well, I decided to go hell with it :3
I tripped KNOX. So what?. My phone was an Saudi Arabian version GT-I9192. I was not going to get that warranty anyways :/ . so, I rooted. And as for official updates, I installed Xposed framework and then installed wanam xposed and changed the device status to official. Updates are working again (I think. as it does not show the device modified error). Can anybody confirm this?
Also, I debloated my stock ROM and I've been testing my battery life for four days, I've found out that, I can go 3 and a half days with out charging!!! That's great Cz I had about one day battery life before with Wi-Fi on 24/7 and power saving turned off. Also lots and lots of Phone calls and texts.
Thanks guys for your help and support.

Hello ,
I thing the best should be :
Download the original rom from SamMobile.
Install it with odin PC
Root the rom
After, if you want , install a custom rom.
I hope that can help you.
It's something that I thought I'd do, but as I wrote, even if the writing process through Odin is reported as successful by both Odin that the phone itself with the advancement of the bar, actually it is not !! I tried to install both original rom 4.1 is 4.4, different bootloader and recovery original but nothing to do !! I hope you have other solutions to help us. Thanks in advance !!!

It's your rom a full wipe rom ?
Have you try with an other version of Odin ? .I had a problem with Odin PC 3.09 but it worked with Odin PC 3.07.
No, the rom was not full wipe. Unfortunately however through Ricovery wipe function does not work as per attached photos. Basically it is as if the phone would not see more memories, in fact marks 0 mb available, but this gives me hope that it's a problem of folder and fs / partitions corrupt, because removing the sd 64gb I filled in the computer works fine again! ! But how to solve it ???? I tried different versions of Odin from 3 to 3:09 !!!
Sorry cardone , no offence , please start your own thread , as you are confusing everything here , I started this thread and nobody is replying to my questions here
Ok, I'm sorry, but I thought that having the same problem or answer me or you do not change !! Anyway I open another 3d. Until next time !!

Finally, after you've tried everything and more without solving the problem I took it in for service. They told me that if it's a software problem (that has corrupted the partition) to others happened like that, is not to cost more than € 20 .......
I hope so !!! Then you update !!

Perhaps you can try flashing twrp recovery again to see if it picks up SD card.
Try flashing a split firmware with re partition enabled and a pit file for your particular model .
If same problem persists then it might be emmc ic problem ( a hardware issue and you need to get it replaced ).
Thanks Sachin , could you please let me know what is the difference between split firmware and stock firmware ? where can i find split firmware for this particular model ?
I am not worrying too much about bricking this phone anyways coz i have tried every other option available here and its already semi bricked now. i would really appreciate if i can make it work anyways. I posted this post almost 2 weeks ago so i guess most of other readers are out of ideas too now. so i would like to go for pit file option now. Please help me in this i have never tried this option before.

Split firmware means separate files for ap, cp, csc, bootloader in odin instead of single file in ap. U have to search for it. And also for pit file for your model.
Then flash it using odin with pit file also selected and re partition enabled.
If this do not solve problem. Then its emmc issue. Get it replaced.

Help

I don't know if this is the right group
I tried posting and it said not enough points etc
I apologize please move if not correct
I have a s4 m919 t-mobile I rooted it using cf autoflash works great now trying to install trwp when I install using odin comes right back to stock. I look to use lineage. Any idea on how to do all of this. Thank you
Reason I want to do this having issues with twitter mostly and Facebook live videos.
I also notice I am running the latest 4.4.4
However there is a new update t-mobile pulled but still listed on there site. It's also available on several Samsung websites. Should I upgrade to the pulled rom or ?
Any ideas
Thank you
To install twrp: open Odin, uncheck everything except f reset time, flash twrp, remove the USB cable from the phone when you see the word "reset" in the status window, remove the battery, replace the battery, boot into recovery using the button combination.
Thank you I
Thank you I got it working

Which baseband version did you have before flashing LineageOS?? I flashed LineageOS and now the SIM card isn't getting detected including a handful of sensors too. It would really help me if you could say which baseband version you had used.
Thanks in advance
