So whats the steps to 2.3.3 and still be rooted?
hey all sorry if this has been asked already but just wanted to know, I want the latest ota. I am on O2 and they take really long releasing the ota's . Do I need to root/unlock just to get the update? Thanks
If your network has pushed out an update for your phone's CID then you will need to lock your bootloader and be on a stock rom to get the OTA update.

Not to mention you need to have stock recovery too.
I have an unbranded HOX but latest update is still 1.28 and I have a major video play bug (they crash), no way to update to 1.29 without rooting?
there are only 2 choices. you can be on stock everything and wait for the update notification or you can unlock, root, and install something from the dev section.

i didnt think you had to have a locked bootloader to recieve ota? only if your flashing a ruu
How do I get the european latest version? I am on O2 they still have not released the ota, by rooting/unlocking I would need to install a custom rom to get the European version?

then i think you will have to wait (not 100% sure), unless you unlock and flash a custom rom which has implemented the update
I planned on converting my One M8 to a GPE edition but I couldn't gain S-Off, so now I have a phone with root access and TWPR installed. In preparation for HTCs upcoming Lollipop OTA, I would Like to bring my device back to full stock so I can install the OTA. I can't seem to find a way to do this without having S-Off. Could someone help me please?
Thanks, Nathan

Will that remove my root user permissions too?
And do I need to relock the boot loader to install OTA's?
Thanks!

sakitech didn't mention anything about losing root or relock bootloader requirements to receive OTA updates after following his video.

Oh, sorry for not being clear xD
No, I don't think you will lose root and you don't have to relock bootloader afaik.
Even so.. you can always redo the process of rooting and unlock the bootloader after OTA update.. no biggie
but if you run stock rom and recovery.. it shouldnt affect root or if ure unlocked with OTA updates
I just reverted back to stock last night with s-on. you will have to relock your bootloader (I used a tool kit, but had to boot into the bootloader myself to get the toolkit relock it) and flash a stock RUU (exe or zip). I suggest using an exe to flash if available. I have a sprint HK edition so I used an RUU exe for that model, and all worked perfectly. I was able to install the OTA update they just released with no problem after I was back to stock.
sakitech's method should work too if you want to try and keep root and the bootloader unlocked

You can update. Bootloader will not relock unless YOU issue the appropriate fastboot command.

I'm not totally sure but you may have to downgrade in order to unlock your bootloader. And I don't think there's an official way to relock it, but why would you want to?

Flashing raw firmware can re-lock your bootloader.
OR
Flashing any MM Build with Stock Recovery can also re-lock your bootloader.
