I am rooted but on stock firmware. Can I watch movies thru an HDMI cable to my HDTV? And do you guys know how to set this up? Thanks
yes, you only need the MHL adapter, EPL-3FHUBEGSTD, I use it myself

When only for media, you are probably better off using a Chromecast dongle.

Hello,
I'd like to connect my EVO to my desktop LCD monitor to watch video on bigger screen. Has anyone tried it yet? Anyone know of a micro HDMI (type D) to DVI cable or an adapter? thanks.

you might be able to make your own... just get an DVI to HDMI cable and splice on a type D end to it, not sure if it will go backwards though...
thanks, but I am interested in making sure I am going about the right way. I want make sure all the HDMI 1.4 features are supported in this solution and its fully compatible. Has anyone tried it yet?
Not really sure what HDMI 1.4 features you expect to get when your end connector is a DVI port. If you cant find a cable that goes from the Evo to DVI then you should be able to just go to HDMI then use an adapter to go to DVI. I used have my computer hooked up to my Home Theater via a DVI <> HDMI cable. Worked great, Full HD and all.
thanks. I read there a bunch of new features in hdmi 1.4 and wanted to make sure I go with an optimal option. Seems like an hdmi cable and a DVI adapter is the way to go. This way I can connect to hdtv and lcd monitor.
Yes, its true that HDMI 1.4 is great and has a lot of new things, including 3D support. But keep in mind, this is a phone. It doesn't even output 1080p video, so you'll be fine with the adapter.
Yeah, it can only to 720p output to a monitor/TV.
Something else to consider, HDMI integrates video and audio over 1 connection. If you use a DVI converter, you will lose the audio. I don't know if the EVO will allow you to output the audio out via the headphone jack at the same time or not, but I very much doubt it. So in other words, by converting the signal, you're going to lose all the audio and kinda makes it useless.
hmm.. well that sucks. any ideas on how to get around this problem?

Sure, you can get an HDMI to DVI With Audio converter..but then again, you might as well buy a new monitor with DVI inputs for the price..

Hi everybody, I've got sort of an unique situation. I have the HTC One X international version that i would like to hook up to my my TV so i can watch Netflix's on it, however the TV is ancient. What i need to know is if its possible to go from the HOX's video out to RCA plugs and if so how? Also i was wondering if there's any way to hook it up via wireless connection instead of running cables, such as Bluetooth or wifi on the phone to a receiver that would plug into the TV or DVD players RCA plugs. I also want to be able to hook it up to my friends flat screen, but for that ill just go pick up a micro USB to HDMI adapter i believe. Thanks in advance...
Has anyone had any luck using an a Micro USB to HDMI adapter?
I am trying to get my adapter working with the Optimus G Pro but having no luck. It does work fine with my Galaxy Note and my brother's Droid Razr Maxx HD. I read an article stating that MHL does not work with this phone yet the specs that are advertised state that the micro USB connection supports MHL.
Any input would be great.
Thanks.
If you're using the mhl adapter, that's the problem. No need for mhl at all.

What do you mean?
Am I correct in saying that the only way to view your home screen and games on the big screen is to use the miracast device or an MHL adapter? I can already view videos wirelessly through DLNA but I want to do more than just watch media.

I'll check when I get home, I wouldn't guess it would be an issue with this phone

OGPro doesn't support mhl. Straight USB to HDMI is what u need.
MHL adapter won't work. You'll need a SlimPort adapter, which is much more expensive.
Thanks Guys I'll get one and try it out.
Hello everyone,
I have a monitor I'd like to hook my Samsung Note 10.1 (2014) up to, but it only has a DVI-D dual link input.
I know I'll need to buy an MHL adapter, but what's the best way to go about this?
I can't find any MHL>DVI adapters, so should I pick up an MHL>HDMI adapter, then connect that to a HDMI>DVI-D dual link adapter?
Would it be able to output at the monitors native resolution (2650x1600) which is the tablet's native as well?
I've googled around for 30 minutes, can't seem to find an answer.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thank you.
have you tried connecting other devices using HDMI>DVI-D? if it works, then it should be the same if you connect MHL>HDMI>DVI-D.
basically plug and play from MHL>HDMI, so i don't see any problem if you try MHL>HDMI>DVI-D. of course you'll lose the audio though.
HDMI and DVI-D are electrically compatible, so it should work. Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_Visual_Interface#DVI_and_HDMI_compatibility
Also, MHL (3rd gen), HDMI and DVI-D support that resolution, so I think it should work.

I wonder if an unrooted tablet has the ability to route audio through the jack output when a hdmi cable is connected. If not you'll need an splitter for audio to.
To clarify, I am wanting to know if it is possible to output video from a smart tv xbr900e using the TVs hdmi 3.0 port. USB-> MHL adapter -> to hdmi on another monitor. The tv screen is broke and I'm wanting to integrate the tv main board to a custom pc build that is a massive media desk. (Plenty of space)
If not, is there any way to output video from tv using ethernet cable? Thanks!
