[Q] XPERIA ZL serial com port - Sony Xperia ZL

Hi,
I`m trying to connect my XPERIA ZL with Windows 7 as Serial port com or modem but couldn`t.
while connecting my phone to computer, i can see only C6503 in device manager nothing is detected as : Sony usb-hs android modem or Sony usb-hs android serial.
it is very important for me to find how to use xperia as COM port in order to connect to QXDM application to perform network monitoring.
thanks for your help.

Samir

Connect phone to PC
Open Dialer
Input *#*#8778#*#*
Open Terminal Emulator
Type
su
setprop persist.usb.eng 1
Disable USB Debugging
Enable USB Debugging
On PC
Open Device Manager
Find all device has named C650X
Find out which device has MI_05 string in Hardware ID( Right click on C650X > properties > Detail tab > Select Hardware IDS and look down in value)
Install driver for Device MI_05 ( Choose Browser computer.... > Let me pick driver > Have Disk > driver location )
in this case you use HTC driver for Sony device , so you have to force it install for unrecognized Harware ID
Done

XPERIA ZL serial com port

It does enable serial com port from Xperia device
Ofcourse it display nothing and you will see nothing unless plug it to PC and on PC you will see 5-6 new device not only C650x
to root 4.4 you have to flash .101 boot image and use towelroot then flash back .283 boot image.

Works for Xperia SP as well

- use flashtool to flash .ftf to your phone
- now the phone back to stock sony ROM,and it ask for format the damage internal storage.
Try!
01 - If the Device shows Sony Screen when booting and the booting animation but DOESN'T fully BOOT
Run Sony Companion (Google it if you haven't got it)
Click on Support Zone
Then look for "phone software update" --> click start
then click repair
FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS FROM THERE
WARNING YOU WILL LOSE YOUR DATA IF NOT BACKED UP
02 - If device fully boots , and stays on.
Plug Device into PC , and REFORMAT into Default format (think its FAT32)
if still same - follow step one
03 - If Device doesn't even show Sony screen
you have possibly hard bricked your Device and may need to purchase new device
i had a similar problem with my Xperia S , my phone had crashed and the SD card was unavailable , i had to Folow "Step One" to fix it , lost all my apps , but i got access to my SD card back. also most apps had to "Force Stop" because they were not working it was very annoying
I hope this helps , and i am sorry for any mistakes. english isnt my primary and im still unsure about some things

[Q] SE Arc S (Lt18a) no SEMC HSUSB Device recognized in W7

Hi everybody,
When I connect my SE Arc S (Lt18a) to PC with W7 (32-bit), I just can see lt18a in device manager, but I cannot see SEMC HSUSB Device. It's really curiously, because all people write that Devise manager in windows shows SEMC HSUSB device, my Windows doesn't!!! and another PCs with both W7 and XP don't recognize phone as SEMCHSUSB device. Why? Should I turn on some mode on Arc S (for instance USB Diag mode)? And if yes, how can I do it? Actually, I've got Qualcomm drivers for SEMC HSUSB device and I want to connect my ArcS to Nemo Outdoor drive test tool, so I need to see modem and trace ports (COM pots). Android version 4.0

Hi,
Yes, I installed PC companion. Actually, phone is working, I just couldn't see SEMC HSUSB Device, when first time connected. So, how do you relate PC companion to that issue? What was exactly your problem?

I probably got your point. So, once again, my phone Arc S is working. I installed PC companion and got it working, but problem is when I connect to PC first time, Device manager detected it as lt18a, but I need get "SEMC HSUSB Device". By other words, I want to get COM port of the AR S modem in device manager in order to control phone by some third part program.

COM ports are not used by newer phones anymore.

Ports just "hidden" and Windows cannot see it. From user perspective network adapter is enough to connect to internet. Set USB in tethering mode and that's it. I agree with you. But for some particular tasks, serial ports and modem are required and must be recognized in device manager. There is should be some way to enable USB modem diag mode or something else, like it's done in GALAXY S2,S3. But no info about Arc S in i-net!!!

[Q] Xperia ZL (C6502) USB Debugging connection problem

Hi everyone.
I was having a problem regarding usb debugging connection of the Xperia ZL C6502. I was using Win 7 64-bit. My problem is that under Device Manager, it shows C6502 (refer to attachment below). I uninstalled it and let it reinstalled, but still windows was unable to find ANY driver for it. I already installed the Google Drivers and ADB Universal drivers, even had Sony PC Companion installed to latest version (to date) too. Even that do not help as it was still unable to correct the problem. But strange thing is, when connected with usb debug off, it was working with proper driver installed, displaying as Xperia ZL in Device Manager. The same with Flashmode (SEMC Flash Device) and Fastboot mode (Android ADB Interface).
I was wondering if it could be the fault of my Windows system or that there is some solutions that I've overlook. Hope any devs or gurus could help me with this. I really need to solve this problem ASAP. Thanks in advance guys!
Edit:
[Device specs]
Sony Xperia ZL (C6502)
Android JB 4.2.2 | Firmware 10.3.A.0.423
Umm.. Anyone? I have searched high and low in the other threads even I tried Google, but still I can't seem to solve this problem. I've even brought myself into the solutions for Nexus devices, I tried the solutions but it seems that my problem is not solved. Oh please don't tell me I have to send it over to Sony
RE: xperia zl usb driver
I think that you have not done enough research...
anyways I got in the same problem today..
to solve the issue follow this steps:
1. download usb driver from this linkit is same for Z & ZL) [remove spaces it is not allowing me to post link]
h t t p : / / developer . sonymobile . com / downloads / drivers / xperia - z- driver /
2. unzip the drive file
3. right click on C6502 in device manager select update driver
4. n from that select file from my computer & select the driver folder...
5. go to eclipse -> window -> open perspective -> devices n check
Okay, I've did like you suggest, but Windows was unable to find any driver.
I've started up eclipse and do as you said, but (refer to attachment) I was unable to find the "devices".
What am I doing wrong? Arghh... I really need to root this phone, so that I can unlock the tracking feature or some security stuffs so that I can retrieve my phone when it got lost or stolen. Anyway, thanks for you help aks0020
re:ZL usb debugging
to see the devices you can also go to DDMS...
but first u need to install that driver successfully...
I suggest you to retry the driver installation keep phone connected with usb debugging & Allow mock location options on
After successful installation u should see new driver in device manager as shown in attached snaps....
Problem Solved, or so it seems..
Okay, stayed up whole night reinstalling a clean copy of Windows 7 64-bit, finally I am able to make Windows 7 recognize my Sony Xperia ZL (C6502) when connected in USB Debugging mode. Yup it is connected properly now, compared to earlier. Just a little patience and some determination
Apparently, I've followed aks0020's suggestion to turn on Mock Location as well, and perhaps having a 'clean' Windows 7 installation helped to correct this problem. Maybe earlier my Windows 7 has faulty drivers database
Anyway, problem is solved, I can finally root my Xperia ZL. And for those curious, can refer to the attachment below :victory:

[Q] Can someone provide me a guide how to root my T3??

I think i'm not the only one who wants to root the T3. There are many guides which are very complicated for people who are no software developers...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-t3/general/root-firmware-18-1-1-21-t2889847
If this is too complicated then probably you shouldnt even consider rooting - procedure cant be any easier. There isnt also any other way to root T3 ATM.
And yes, this works also with .25 (4.4.4 KK). And for different ver. of T3 (5102 for example) use software for your model as base.

I think I know what to do. Can i use the sony Emma thing as the flash tool?
what to do now
I've installed adb drivers fastboot drivers and successfully flashed the .14 kernel then switched on the phone and trying to root using Xperia rootkit is not detecting my device and stuck like this(as shown in the screen shot) what to so and PC companion is also not detecting my t3 (but while am on .32kernel it works fine)
I've flashed the .32kernel (cause am on 4.4.4) again and repeated everything but same problem,, redownloaded the kernels but same problem,,
Why rootkit is not detecting my phone ??? Plz help
need help
While m on .14 kernel rootkit or PC companion were not able to detecting my phone. On switched off state(.14kernel) flash tool displayes that the USB debugging is off and the phone is connected in mtp mode..
But before flashing .14 kernel(while am on .32kernel) I turned on USB debugging and set the USB connection mode to MSC mode (otherwise flashtool wouldn't flash kernel)... So why am facing this problem???...
After flashing .14 kernel I switched on the phone and wait at least 10 minutes then (the screen shots only Sony logo and goes black) after ten minutes when I connect the phone to the PC and lunch rootkit its not detecting showing waiting for device PC companion is also not detecting:crying:...... What to do now

Hi. Before you flash .14 you need to enable usb debugging in your phone, connect it to your pc via usb cable and check the "allow always..." checkbox in your phone:
P.D. If the popup is not showing when you plug your phone, then open a terminal (cmd in windows), launch adb devices command and you should see the popup in your device. If does not, unplug the phone, stop adb, plug the phone again and try launching adb command.
did it
