Hello everyone,
First time post on here and I really need help.
My issues is that when I send a new text using "Ok Google" it does not show that I sent one in my messenger app ( I have tried several). The only way it records the outbound text on a messenger app is if I use the reply feature on the watch.
I'm using the Verizon LG G2 on 4.4.2 using Xdabbed's vs98024a Rom v1.1.1
Any help would be appreciated! Thank you in advance!
I have the same issue, paired with Nexus 6, My outgoing messages only show up in the android messaging app not in my default app.

[Q] SMS messages are only going to Google Voice, and bypassing "Messages." Why?
I have my Google Voice integrated with my Sprint phone number. Normally, if somebody texts me, it shows up in Google Voice, Messages, Handcent, and whatever other messaging app I have installed. I just configure the notifications as I like them, so that I'm only notified by 1.
Ever since I installed Synergy, incoming messages only go to my google voice app. They don't show up in "messages."
If I send a message from "messages," then the outgoing message also shows up in google voice. But any reply I receive will also only show up in google voice. It's like only google voice works for incoming messages now.
This is still true if I uninstall google voice from my phone. I can only send. Not receive.
Please, someone out there give me some advice. I'd rather use the native app and just use GV for my desktop.
Uninstall Google voice.
Then redownload it.
When you run it for first time, br sure to skip the sprint integration at the very beginning. Now you should be back to normal

Settings -> Sync and Notifications -> Check Text notifications.
Or go to voice.Google.com and change it from there.

I am using google voice instead of paying the $10/$20 messaging to verizon. I noticed that the Quick Responses during an incoming call will not use the selected default SMS application (in my case google voice) and instead fails to send.
Does anyone know of a work around for this?

I suppose it could be forced in the code.
It wouldn't work anyway unless you are on a 4g connection at all times.
I tried to respond to a call tonight for the first time from my Nexus and it defaulted to the Messenger app. I use Google Voice exclusively. Has anyone experienced this and come up with a fix?
If you slide up to answer you can send a text.
no can do. It's built in to default to the s rock SMS app which is messenger. Google needs to fix this or a dev has to find a way to hack it.

Can anyone tell me if there are any build prop edits for the V410 LTE that would allow the device to make calls and send text messages?
It seems like there must be someway...the thing has a cellular radio in it already. I figure maybe AT&T had them modified to only operate on data.
I'm using a workaround currently and packing the g pad 7.0 as my only device and loving it. But I would love to just have the functionality without the trade-offs.

Use your Google voice account, using hangouts for texting and hangouts dialer for phone calls

I appreciate your response. That actually won't solve my issue. I can receive sms to my hangouts messenger but can't send text to other phone numbers from that app. I've only been able to send text from the at&t messenger.
As far as calling, the hangouts dialer is my choice for making calls at the moment. It's a dirty workaround too though. I have my at&t calls forwarded to a talkatone # that rings my tab. But when dialing from my tab I can only show unknown number or my talkatone #.
It works, it's just ugly. Really enjoying the g pad, just want to squeeze every drop out of it.

I think something is misconfigured, I have no issue sending and receiving texts, or making and receiving calls on my G Tab via hangouts. From what I remember, talkatone uses your google voice number, so it would be redundant to use it. You're not going to be able to have outgoing calls show as your cell number only your google voice (talkatone) number.

Hmmm, maybe so. I do not have a Google voice # but picked one out from talkatone. I wonder if I could just port that # to Google voice and scrub talkatone then?
As far as the sms problem, I can send instant messages to anyone in my Google contacts and any sms sent to my cell number will show in hangouts. But any time I've tried to reply or initiate sms to a phone # through hangouts it just gives me a "sending..." but never does. It's actually the same with another favorite sms app, Hello Sms, I receive texts just fine, but cannot send from that app.

Set up a Google Voice number and set hangouts as your default for sending and receiving SMS, hangouts dialer will make and receive phone calls from the same number

So the real question for me is will the Verizon version have visual voicemail available to it
There was a screen shot on Reddit of the native Android visual voicemail working with Verizon.
Oh nice that would be even better
This is good news. Thanks for the info

Just out of curiosity, is there a reason you would choose to use Verizon Visual Voicemail over Google Voice Lite (that works with your carrier's phone# - without requiring you to use your GV#)?

I'm curious if it will work with Google Voice Lite without the Google Voice App. Having to use the app does get irritating when it stops running in background and causes delayed notification if you don't have Text or Email notification active. Also it does seem the app doesn't get updated much.
I have missed important messages in the past and now I check the Google Voice app at least once a day to make sure it had not stopped.

I haven't used the GV app on my phone in months (or over a year now) - had to check to see if it was still there To be honest, I don't think it is needed after the initial set up.
I get my notifications via an Email from GV to my mailbox, with the transcriptions and link to message - I also get a text message sent to my GV#, which results in a SMS on hangouts app.

Thanks for the reply but like I said before if you have Text and EMail notification turn off you just get a voicemail notification from native app and could use native app to check. But if the Google Voice App stops you don't get the Notification because messages do not sync with the native app.
Text and Email notification (icon) if you have a lot notification do not standout as much as the voicemail notification (icon). Would be much easier if Google would include Google Voice Lite in the native app without having the separate app for syncing.
Transcription has never worked well for me because everyone beside Robo spam that leave me a message have Spanish accents. (Funny to read and trying to guess what they really said) Google Voice Lite app has the transcription but would be better in native app.

Understood. I don't use the native app for voicemail notification, so I never ran into this issue. I just rely on the hangouts notification. Thanks for the clarification
Has there been any word from reviewers about Visual VM on Verizon yet?
I haven't seen anything on it yet
In the native phone app the voicemail tab works with Verizon's visual voicemail. I just finished setting up my phone and it works.

I can confirm that it is working yay , happy to have this feature working through the phone app, i never like using the Google voice way to get it working
Does anyone know if it works with AT&T? My vm number is being forwarded so I can use Google Voice or I would try it myself. I would like to not have to use Google Voice.
