cant you just do the hidden menu thing - THEN.....
Goto About Phone/Update Center/Software Updates/ and uncheck "check and download update automaticly"

The update already downloaded itself so when I go to Software Updates there is no option to uncheck check and download automatically.

ohh, then you should not update.
try going to system/apps/google services framework and untick "show notifications"
or
(better)

select advanced mode, then in settings check 'show system entries' and then find Google services framework, and disable the one with 'system update receiver' in the name
(you may need to refresh the list first) "
if you are using titanium backup, you could also try to freeze the update app.

Using Titanium, or any app that freezes for that matter; the app i believe you want to freeze is SDM (mine is SDM 1.0).

I flashed Cloudy 2.5 today and I am having a little bug. Whenever I download an apk file and proceed to install it (I have already checked the option in the developer menu) I can't click the Install button. I mean, I can click it, but the installation process doesn't begin. I can only hit the abort button and the installation is not completed.
Anyone is aware of this bug? Any solution?

did you downloaded it with chrome? do you have data saving on in chrome browser if you have it on disable i then download

Anyone know Samsung's ip addresses or url's they use to update the TAB S?
For about a week I have been getting annoying POPUP's from Samsung trying to force me to update. It takes over the screen and I want to block Samsung and get back control over my device.

Because Samsung has disabled the ability to disable the update daemon. I am going to try a temporary root program and see but I still want to block them at my router so no unexpected foolishness down the the road.
My boss wants it fixed too as she has the same tablet.

Just disable automatic updates in settings. That is all that is required.

Again I don't have root.
My boss's S is set to "Download updates manually" but device downloaded the update anyway. It does not honor your choice and if you try to disable the update software it is greyed out.
What IP domain names do they use?

Again, you don't need root. Just UNCHECK Download updates automatically in settings.
There are 3 settings. Manual updates if you want to check manually(this setting has absolutely nothing to do with the automatic update setting)
Download updates automatically, uncheck and you'll never get another notification again.
Scheduled software updates - OFF.
That is all that is required.
If your device is notifying you to install an update then it's already downloaded.
Just root and delete it.
If you don't want to do that download Bk package disabler and disable the update notification.

My boss 's was already set to manual and it ignored her setting. It doe NOT work. Samsung is ignoring the setting.
Will BK disabler actually disable the daemon or just the notifications?

Well it works perfectly on my Tab S and the other 3 galaxy tablets I have.
BK package disabler can disable updates and the notifications. Just need to disable the correct packages.

Ok just tried the BK on my boss's S and it worked great. There were 2 daemons to disable and now no more popups.
I will do the same with mine at home tonight.

No worries. Glad you got it sorted.
I have the latest official 8.1 ROM and don't want to update to PIE yet.
But notification about this update is just like the ones from iPhone, keeps coming back and I see no way to turn it off.
I've disabled automatic update in developer settings, but would like to disable checking for update and notification about it also.
In my other phones there always was system app called "Update" or "System-update" and stopping/disabling it was enough to stop bothering me.
Is there any way to disable checking for update and notification about existing update?
My phone is not rooted.
When the notification comes for the system update just slide it right/left but not all the way, just halfway across the screen and let it go. This way you'll see "snooze" and a "gear". Tap on the gear and then "Don't show notifications"

I don't think there's any thing more you can do about it Disabling from Developer Settings and hiding the notification is all I can say about it
Disable automatic system updates in developer options.
If developer options are not enabled, activate by giving 7 clicks on "Build number" (Settings / About phone / Build number)
Go to System / Advanced / Developer Options / Automatic System Updates
Disable and no longer have automatic updates. When you want to update, you'll need to manually fetch.
What is keeping you from rooting and removing updater package from system/app? Especially if you are not planing to update to pie yet

it's not my phone
Using star2lte: lineage-17.1-20210121-nightly-star2lte.
It's only a minor problem because I can always do adb sideload but I'm sure is was there at one time. I can see the updater in the apps but I can't see any way of running it, also new updates are not announced.
Is there any way of getting the updater to run again?

Its in settings system advanced. Hit threedotmenu to set auto update checks.

Ok, that's interesting. How did you disable it, or more appropriately how to you re-enable it? It's possible I may have disabled it by accident.

Settings apps all threedotmenu system
Just tried that. For good measure I also stopped the app, cleared cache and data and then enabled the app. After that I restarted the phone. And it's still missing in settings!
