Hello,
Is it possible to do without flashinge the phone?
If yes how?
ENO
if you have a rooted phone.. take framework-res.apk from system/framework off phone.. edit with 7zip and replace the .png file.. put new one back on phone.. using adb or root explorer.. make sure you have enough space in system to put framwork back on.
And if my phonr is not rooted?

Can always put phone into download mode and use Odin to flash a stock unrooted firmware 2.1 or 2.2 whatever you desire
Hi, I was looking for a way to root this device but with SuperOneClick I couldn't connect to the PC there was a problem with the drivers, so I've downloaded z4root apk and installed it directly to the phone. Then I clicked on Permanent Root, mobile turned off and now it doesn't react. I can't turn it on and I am not able to get anywhere with holding volume down/up+menu+turning button.
Is there any solution? Thanks
Where did you find out Z4Root was compatible with W ?

I'll be totally honest, it was lame and desperate solution now I have to focus on resolving the problem. At least on Windows I can get that the device was detected and qhsusb_dload driver wasn't properly installed. That could be at least some stepping stone in this situation
can you turn your phone on to download mode? if yes, maybe you can flash your phone with stock rom through odin, and then root the phone later with the update.zip (you can find it in this forum) through the stock recovery.

No it doesn't react at all.
After all it seems I will try to bring it to the seller and play dump and that it failed during updating to newer FW
One possible....http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=27453860

I've got my HTC Desire Z, in original condition but I need help to root, install recovery and installing custom ROMs. I don't want to have to use a PC or laptop, since they are broken but I still have a tablet. Are there any guides or can people tell me step by step on how to get custom ROMs on the phone? BTW I'm starting from scratch so a lot has to be done... Thanks friendly forum people

I think that other than Visionary (which I recommend against using it due all it's problems), that there isn't many other options. :/ Check this out and see if there is anything that can help http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2348266
I'm sorry, i think you need a pc to root our phone, because you must copy sdk files from cmd and lauch them, and set other things
There are ways to install the fastboot and adb binaries on a tablet and then use an otg cable connected from tablet to desire z, this can work if your tab supports otg, then just follow the xda wiki

Finally got it rooted. Used Kingroot on computer, it took 2 attempts. After rooting ran super sume pro to get rid of kinguser and install super su.
