You second post would have better yielded a response if it included such things as rom version etc. We still know very little about your true situation other than you are s on can't get s off.
Have you tried factory reset?

Hi , i have a big problem with my HTC One X, i have the bootloader locked with a custom kernel and S ON. So i can't flash anything unsigned and my main version is too high 4.18.207.4 with cid O2___102 (O2 DE) . HBOOT version 1.72 . The single RUU i've found so far for O2 has main version 1.26.207.2 . The bootloader won't unlock with HTCDEV method (too many links error) . So what can i do ? Please help me !!!
Depends on what you want to do ? Unlocking is pretty much mandatory to get the phone back to some state of stock.
What is the goal exactly ?

I am trying to unlock it with htcdev method (like i did for installing the custom rom), but now i get this error "too many links" after i confirm on the phone that i want to unlock the bootloader. And my status is LOCKED not RELOCKED . Do you have any idea why ? Or any solution for that error ? Thank you so much .
Hmm if it went from unlocked to locked......that's not a good sign at all ! It should be relocked at all times now.

I know it's weird. I was following a tutorial for going back to stock with a RUU and i used fastboot oem lock in order to use the RUU. After i saw there is no RUU available and ended in the situation i am right now. Locked with no RUU available. I also tried to modify the main version from a rom in order to be equal with mine but then the signature fails...
Yep all those things will fail. S-off is also not available.
Try to get new unlock tokens and keep flashing them.....

Ok , i am trying this right now. Can this error with too many links be caused of my computer by any chance ? I will write you back as soon as i try the new token . Thank you again.
The too many links is quite normal but the bootloader should get unlocked afterwards.
But when the bootloader goes from unlocked back to locked it's not good and i have the hunch it's kinda bricked then.

I tried again, but the same . I enter the command fastboot flash unlocktoken Unlock_code.bin... the console show the message bootloader token unlocked successfully, my phone asks for my confirm..i confirm and i get in the console the too many links error and the phone reboots in LOCKED state with a ***Security warning*** under LOCKED .
Then there is nothing we can do.

Hey, i'm new to this forum but i have tried everything and cant figure it out. Its probably just me because i'm not too good with this stuff.I bought this phone used and it was rooted when i got it. im pretty sure i unrooted it but somewhere along the way while trying to get it back to stock i reset the phone and it must have deleted something important because when i try to download the OTA update it simply wont install after i download it. Recovery used to work but now it just sits at the loading screen and then reboots the phone. I managed to re-lock the bootloader and it is on S-off. I tried to get back to stock using the ruu.exe but the video i was following had the link for every ruu except verizon. Figures. Then i searched around and cant seem to find a verizon Ruu.exe file. Please any help would be appreciated i just want to be able to update to the latest firmware.
Follow the steps carefully

Still having problems.
When i get up to the step when you need to type SU into the command promp is where i am getting stuck. My supersu app says "there is no binary file installed" when i try and open it and my phone will not allow me to uninstall the application so im not sure if that is causing the problem

Dude first specify what is your software number ? I would recommend you to clean your super su install if thats the problem you are facing also do mention the it with a screenshot...so that if some knows can help you
Also i think you are using it to remove the tampered tag right? you can do that later . also no need to unlock bootloader if you have soff
I attached some screenshots hopefully they help. I think I've come to the conclusion I need to flash a recovery but in order to do so my boatloader must be unlocked even if I have s-off. (It says relocked and s-off) only problem is that I can't find a way to unlock the boot loader b/c htcdev doesn't allow Verizon to unlock through there services and the other ways require supersu. The only way to get the correct binary file for super su is to flash it which I can't do without recovery. So I feel like I'm jus stuck right now and can't do anything

Bro Your bootloader is locked you should not have relocked it dude thats the biggest mistake ! and your software number shows that you are running kitkat there is no rooting method till now for that .
What i must say is that you can try to flash the ruu without unlocking the bootloader you are s-off give it a try , if it does then your problem is solved
unlock your bootloader later on. Wish you luck :good:. Also you can ask in the forum itself that will it flash or not

i cant access my recovery anymore , it was twrp and i have kitkat 4.4.4 rom ... i know that sometimes i would have to manual install superuser on twrp recovery but now i cant...... because i cant access my recovery....also my phone is rebooting due to this.... every 15 seconds..... i recently relocked the bootloader cause i was gonna flash a firmware that i needed.....never found the firmware that matches my cid and mid..... i have no idea what to do now..... i cant access my recovery and the phone is rebooting on me....
Edit : also i can go to my bootloader no problem , and when ever i try to go to recovery it will just take me to fast boot again...
Did you try to flash TWRP again?
On a side note, I don't know why people insist on going back to S-ON and relocking bootloader with the mantle of "stock". No need to go back S-ON and while you're S-OFF you never need to lock the bootloader
Lost count on how many posts I read with people that ended up asking for help with exactly the same steps taken. :silly:

Hey guys
got a HTC M9 with cid "O2___102" which won't boot up after stock update.
Phone was not modified yet.
1. Can't unlock bootloader (says: "(bootloader) [KillSwitch] Last Byte is 0X00, disable unlock") - so no way to install custom recovery + custom rom to revive
2. Can't boot into recovery (shows phone with a red exclamation mark but no menu) so no way to factory rest
3. can't find a matching RUU for the "O2___102" CID ...
PLEASE HELP =(
At the screen with the red triangle and exclamation mark, press and hold the power button. While holding the power button, quickly press and release the volume + button. If this gets you to recovery, try a factory reset.

The UK ones for O2 can be used with the German O2 CID, too. You can find them for example in my Collection of Back-to-Stock Files or on androidRUU. But I'm not sure whether a downgrade from android 5.1 is possible with S-ON. The only confirmed downgrades with S-ON were from 1.32.XXX.15 to 1.32.XXX.8. And from my experiences with Denis Meissner and Amr Nasser I would say that a downgrade isn't possible with S-ON if the first and/or the second number of the actual firmware version differ from the ones of the firmware you want to downgrade to.

Yeah, would have suprised me if it worked. As said before even downgrading from 1.40.XXX.X to 1.32.XXX.X seems to be impossible with S-ON. How long did you actually wait until you thought that you phone doesn't boot? The update to android 5.1 and the first boot took around an hour for me. Maybe you just need to wait a little longer. If your phone was unlocked I would suggest you to flash TWRP and use one of my stock backups but...
The only other option I can see right now is trying to find someone who has a java card. With S-OFF you should be able to downgrade with the RUU. (If I remember correctly there were one or two shops advertising their java card services on Android-Hilfe.) This option may not be for free but it should still be cheaper than sending your phone to HTC's repair service or buying a new phone.

whats that java card you're talkin about? Never heard of that.
An appropiate RUU with the latest version should theoretically also work, right?
Problem ist that I cant flash anything custom because bootloader locked and I cant get inside the system to enable the bootloader unlock... =( and the thing has a visually broken volume up key for dropping down, so the htc support won't fix it (for free) I fear.. otherwise I would just give it to them since it has not been modified yet. (not my phone ..)
P.S:
OS Version is 2.10.206.2 - thats the latest one right?

Yes, 2.10.206.2 is the latest version for now. If there were a RUU with your firmware version then using it would be the easiest way to solve your problems. But as far as I know the only existing ones for O2 are for 1.32.206.6 and 1.32.206.15. But with S-OFF you would be able to use the older RUUs, too.
I never used a java card so my knowledge about this topic isn't that outstanding. I know that it is a small, SIM-Card-like looking thing that allows you to S-OFF your phone. Usually they cost several hundred euros/dollars and the number of times you can use them is limited. Since verizon blocks bootloader unlocking these cards are the only option if a verizon users wants to flash anything on his/her phone. Some German phone shops offered S-OFF by java card, too, before sunshine got updated for the M9. That's why I gave you the link to Android-Hilfe. (And that's actually all I know about that topic.)
i need this rru please any one have to uplode link
thanks
Just as an update, I recently bricked this phone trying to flash lineage to it. To fix it, I went to HTC.com and downloaded the current RUU and put the phone into download mode. I know some people say you don't need to "relock" the device, but I don't get errors during the installation with RUU when relocked. Plus, I am running with S-on.

Did u went to the main Settings page in your ROM, in “Developer Options”. Open that, and enable “OEM Unlocking”.
If the ROM won't boot, only S-OFF with a java card will fix your problem.
My 2 cents.

Hit flippy's thread in the general section.
Sent from my HTC One M9 using Tapatalk
As @shivadow mentioned, search in @Flippy498 's thread for a RUU for your mid and cid.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/one-m9/general/stock-nand-backup-ota-update-collection-t3132698
Read here about RUU's
http://venomroms.com/ruu/
A RUU should get u a functional ROM, and from there follow all steps to unlock.
If no compatible RUU exists, only S-Off will do.
Thanks ill have a look!
