I rooted my Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition (P600) tablet using CF AutoRoot. I ran odin and flashed the two tars. (autoroot mj4 and stock recovery mj4).
Next I decided to put TWRP on, so i opened odin and flashed TWRP. It worked fine for a few days, then suddenly i lost root on some of my applications. I opened up TWRP and tried to flash Super SU again and it had a problem clearing the cache. It then wouldn't mount the cache at all. Meaning my tablet wouldn't boot.
I managed to fix it by running autoroot again and flashing the stock recovery, but now i have issues with my tablet only working for about 5-10 minutes, then it restarts itself. I'm assuming the cache might be corrupted and it ends up getting filled and then crashes. After about 5 minutes, it freezes and then goes to a black screen and restarts itself.
Can anyone help me fix this?
you should try this method : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=53125229&postcount=409

Try reflash stock recovery, clear cache, davik cache and data, let it boot up then power down and start over with re root method again. MAKE SURE you use the correct CF autoroot for the p600 device.
you are saying you loose root after a few days, did you remove or freeze knox apps ?
see previous message advice, you should restart with a full wipe and full flash and it should be ok. An other way is to flash a custom already rooted and knox freed.
hope it will help you, good luck.
I lost root after a few days, not that i lose root. It happened the first time and from then the problems started occurring. I froze knox applications (all 8 of them).
I did a logcat using adb to see what errors occurred and i got an error saying
Fatal Signal 7 <SIGBUS> at 0xb6a3cc64 <code = 2>, thread (changes).
Unable to open connection to debuggerd: Connection refused.

Does anyone know what this error means and how to fix it? I heard its a data alignment problem, but not sure how to fix it, but i assume a full format would do it.

I would say a corruption would cause this and until you reformat, otherwise, you're going to get it again. Data corruption could cause many "unknown" errors, so you should reformat and do a clean install.
Whats the best way to format if you havent got a custom recovery, stock recovery? Odin? (scary)
My issue is I get rooted ,freeze up knoxes but then when I go to install TWRP (any ver.) it doesn't take..
sorry to piggy-back but it sounded similar to my situation
Hey guys, I have the p600 and was running stock NIL1 and decided to root. I ran in to all kinds of issues, very similar to what you are experiencing but managed to fix it so haven't had the instability. I believe you're missing a crucial step. I wasn't able to mount system or wipe cache until I did this.
Here's what I recommend:
Odin back to stock recovery
Boot to stock recovery and perform a factory reset and clear cache, this part was important
Reboot to download mode
CF Auto root again
Flash TWRP
Flash rom of your choice, I'm running http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...opment/p600ueucni1-pure-stock-rooted-t2896910 and it works great!!
Hope it works for you!!

Hi xda,
I ran into a problem I've never faced today. Before you start assuming, I've done my research. I've searched all over the forums, tried multiple solutions (none worked) and... potentially permabricked it?
Rooted for 7 months, running Jedi Mind Tricks v5.1 Android 4.0.3
How it happened: Today I noticed my phone running really wierdly. It would crash apps constantly, which didn't happen yesterday. So I put it on *close all apps after exiting* on developer options and limited it to run 2 background apps. Throughout the day, my phone would just restart out of absolutely nowhere: in the middle of a text, after unlocking my phone. Each time progressively got shorter between the restarts. It would also freeze a lot of the time. This never happened before today. Maybe a freeze or two, but not this bad.
Did a few battery pulls, no dice. Then this is where it gets worse. The time between boot loops were from 1-2 minutes now. I was getting pissed, so I decided I needed to wipe it and install a new rom. I enter recovery mode CMW 5.0 and do an initial factory reset. Half way through, it crashes again. Now all it does is vibrate constantly until I turned it back on into recovery. Launches recovery. I try to super wipe it. Half way through, crashes again. I try this several times in conjunction with battery pulls. Doesn't work.
I pull sim card, SD card and battery out, let it rest before I reset it.
Then I tried to Odin its ass. I bricked it into the yellow warning screen about a updated system error because I fail with Odin. I searched around to find a solution. I redid Odin to stock kernel it. When it revived, it went into the loading screen. Yes! Progress! It was 99% done with loading when it froze on it. Fml. Battery pull, reboot, and it goes back into its habitual boot loop pattern. I can still access CMW, but it still crashes when I try to super wipe/wipe it.
I have to fix this because, well I bought this from someone with no warranty and using a no contract provider.
Help?
UPDATE: I was able to successfully superwipe my phone, then reinstall Mind Tricks as the rom of choice onto it. It doesn't freeze. Simply bootloops again and again. I don't know what to do.

Firstly I suggest upgrading your recovery to 6.x via odin. Then superwipe. Redownload mind trick fresh, flash mind trick, wipe data/factory reset via recovery and try to boot letting it settle for about five minutes. If this fails, flash back to stock via Odin to rule out hardware faults.

I've been looking through some how-to's but I can't seem to find how to upgrade recovery using odin. I can only find the .img file and instructions on how to do it via command lines. Any advice?
Thanks
Good suggestion but better yet ...... I had the same issue on cwm.... get twrp 2.2 look for the flashable download....... 2.3 has a few bugs so stick wit .2

Definitely get twrp on it. Flashing twrp solved 99% of my problems running cm10. Zero rr in weeks. If I were you I would go back to stock for your device. After confident its running like it should. Then root and and go nuts.
I've personally never really had to pull the battery, very rarely. I'm worried about your ram. Could it b corrupted? A short somewhere? All unrecoverable.
I wonder if you could somehow mount your device using Linux. And run memory tests or drive diagnostics.(just thinking out loud).
Twrp is definitely a must. Good luck

Try doing complete wipes and reflashing a different more stable rom and see if it happens again. There are scripts to do complete and total wipes just to make sure you get a clean install (kind of like the others suggested) atleast yours can turn on so your not hard-bricked.
That's great how you guys are saying twrp solved your issues! It's really funny when cm10 supports cwm recovery. But op, let me see if I still have mine.

Thank you guys for all the suggestion. I was able to finally install CMW 5.5 on Odin, then go to 6.0 through flashing it. Then I super wiped it several times, normal wipe data/user settings, Darkside super wipe, then install Jedi Mind Trick X, super cache wipe, mount system, then rebooted. It worked for several minutes before locked on boot loop again.
Can someone post the link to TWRP touch for flash? That would be awesome.
I've also been thinking if it could be an external hardware problem and not a software problem. How could I run the diagnostics like you had suggested?
Thanks!

my sgs2 did this last month i did the same you did. after no fix i installed a cwmtouch through odin just to be able to restore a back up and worked flawlessly. After that i switched to TWRP again flashed it with no problem through odin and my s2 has been working fine ever since, but fyi i updated twrp to its 2.3.1.1 version and now i get errors can still restore but cant flash jb roms and can only do dirty flashes of ics roms
I'm currently in the process of trying to flash twrp. Is it uncommon that when I went into recovery, it also boot looped on me several time?

I did a full wipe, script wipe, with Darkside using CMW6 and restored an old backup. It still crashes. I'm starting to think it's hardware problems. I haven't gone to TWRP because I can't find a flashable 2.2 version.

Thank you my friend. I was able to finally find a 2.2 TWRP and I flashed it via odin. Did full wipes, full cache wipes, flashed a rom. Fixed permission and all that good stuff. Left it off for 10 minutes. Came back, it started running through initialization. About 4 minutes in, it crashes again. I'm starting to think this could be hardware problem.

Do not use scripts with the new CWM 6 as it will cause this. Manually wipe everything and do not use scripts. You can use scripts with twrp but not the latest cwm

Hi, I will have my hands on this tablet very soon and want to use the Cleanrom that is listed in a thread here. This will be my first time doing this and have been searching around for a guide. I have read a few bits and pieces but would like someone to explain in a few steps so i can get this right the first time.
I found a guide to Root it at rootgalaxynote.com but would like to understand how to install the CleanROM.
Hello,
You have to install TWRP Recovery first, then you need to copy Rom.zip to storage and then flash it using Recovery, dont forget about Wipe.

All you need is to Install Custom Recovery to change ROM, that will allow you to do anything you want with your device (such as System Backup/Restore, installing .zip packages, and etc.) read thread about TWRP so you can find everything you need to know.
But notice the fact you'll lose your warranty installing custom roms, as I know there is no way to change warranty bit back to 0 yet.
All information you need to know about Custom Roms is already there.

Edit: Should i do this first before the TWPR?
Build says CleanRom 1.0 but all apps are still present
My build says CleanRom 1.0 but I still have all of the apps that others say are removed such as Sketchbook. My note was rooted using the AutoRoot file with Odin and then the stock recovery was flashed. I then used the twrp 3.0 file and booted into recovery. I then installed CleanRom (without reset per instructions) and the device rebooted and everything worked except all of the apps were still there. I then tried to re-flash CleanRom and perform the wipe but I then got stuck on the Samsung splash screen to no avail. I booted into recovery and tried re-flashing the CleanRom zip to no avail. All I could do to get this thing booted was to flash the auto-root file again in Odin, re-flash twrp, and install cleanrom again from the recovery but all of the apps are still there. Before I did any of this I had a bunch of the bloatware either frozen or uninstalled in Titanium but now some of those apps show lines through them in TBP. Either way, my device is showing CleanRom 1.0 under the build but I really don't think it is... any ideas on how to fix this?
Hi i'm a newbie on android
i've tried to install this rom a lot of time but unsuccessfully at any time
i've tried all the solutions i found here but none were successfull
i am under TWRP 2.6.3.0
my tablet is rooted but after the rom flash ,when i reboot ,just after the "galaxy note edition 2014" logo there's a black screen
the only way to repair is to flash with the mk1 stock rom after or to restore my old version saved with TWRP
can someone help ?
thanks

Before flashing your rom perform a factory reset in twrp and format /data. All your apps will be deleted and you should be fine if you are stuck on the samsung boot logo it might help to boot into recovery and format /cache and dalvik cache

So, I did the factory reset in twrp and then formatted the data. Naturally, everything was lost but when I went to install CleanRom it was no longer on the internal memory due to the format... but I did copy it to the Ext SD Card. MY problem is that twrp won't install the zip from the sd card. Each time it says its unable to mount "/data" even though I'm going into "advanced settings" and placing the check mark. I re-flashed twrp and tried using file manager to move the file to the internal storage but came up with the same problem. Also, I can't place the check on mount data for some reason. Now, my tablet starts to boot up but hangs on the samsung screen before the boot animation. Basically, its like there isn't any firmware on it and I tried re-doing the auto-root and stock recovery but thats a no go as well. Is this thing toasted?

Boot into TWRP and click "Restore Back Up" (Cannot remember exact verbiage) . Find where it says internal storage and press it and it will switch to a drop down and you can choose "External SD" Then go back and and it should be going to External SD instead of internal SD when you select install
Make sure you factory re-set. For safety, I advance wipe but I don't think that is necessary.
You may need to re-flash recovery if you're unable to access it.

Your device is not toasted I always have the Rom zip on the root directory of the device so formatting /data will not affect the rom zip. If you cant get it working then you might need to flash a firmware via odin and after that copy the rom on the internal root directory. Resetting your device should not format the whole internal storage so you can install the rom afterwards. Good luck mate

After the holiday (and many stressful attempts) I was finally able to re-boot the device and get past the splash screen. Opening Kies seemed to "kick" past the splash screen even though it said my device wasn't compatible with Kies. Anyway, I flashed the stock recovery, wiped, reset, flashed original firmware via Odin, flashed TWRP again, and then installed the CleanRom zip. Phew... it's FINALLY over with no issues and running smooth. I think the problem came in with TWRP not wiping correctly even though it said it did. I do appreciate all of the help and advice as you guys are life-savers!

When I installed with TWRP 2.6.3.3 & 2.6.3.1 I got the write permission denied and then I tried with 2.6.3.0 it got hung while installing CleanRom 1.5R2. Does anyone know how to resolve this issue? Thanks
OK, so I went into TWRP 2.6.0.0 and tried to flash CM 10.2. It came up with an error so I restored using the backup I had made, and after the restore it told me that root permissions had been lost, and asked if I wanted to fix it. I swiped to rix root permissions, and now it doesn't seem to be able to boot up.
It gets through the boot animation fine, bu gets stuck on the final screen where it flashes SAMSUNG across the screen. I can boot back into TWRP and have tried wiping data and starting fresh, installing a different ROM, everything I can to try to get it to start fresh, but the phone always gets stuck at the same screen flashing SAMSUNG.
Any ideas of what I should do to remedy this problem??

Start fresh again but this time in TWRP goto wipe/system that will rid all old rom files which sounds like your issue, worth a shot

Hopefully I can get a fast response here, I did that, but got a warning "No OS installed" before rebooting. Is that just telling me no ROM installed or does that literally mean that there is not an OS on the phone anymore? The second option seems unlikely but I don't want to risk it and mess things up even further.

well after you wipe everything including system you need to install a rom. IF your NOT currently OTA updated to 4.3 use billard's zip:::::
[ROM/RESTORE][!MD4 OTA!](5-10)Quick Return to UNROOTED STOCK WITH FLASH COUNT RESET
Wipe everything :/system
Flash billards zip
Flash root.zip to keep root
Flash recovery zip to keep custom recovery
reboot

If that's the case, I'd recommend this ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2549136 I installed the SPHL710_ALLINONE_MK3_ODEX_12-04-2013_1030pm.zip which includes the latest stock 4.3 without all the KNOX stuff and with native tethering.
It also wipes the system partition for you.
Good luck!!

Shouldnt be getting any errors installing/switching roms if your wiping correctly, If native tether is all your after then most if not all custom roms come with it enabled or you can keep stock rom and just flash the hotspot mod [MOD][Deodex][Odex][MB1][MC3][MD4][MK3]Hotspot Mod - Working 4G

Good luck!!

I'm just as confused as anyone as to why I'm getting errors. The phone has proper root access and is running on TWRP, the same recovery I use on my One, and I have done at least 50-60 flashes of ROMs on that phone, without issue. I keep getting virtually the same error, something wrong with executing the updater binary in zip.

Hi,
I have my Note 2 quindi Omega rom v24.
I am having several problems with random reboot, force close and general phone instability.
In January I had to do a full wipe reinstall of the rom because I had continuous FC in Android System process. Going to TWRP recovery and wiping cache and dalvik resulted in errors I saw on the data partition, as it was corrupted.
I tried several script performing memory check to understand if a repartition was necessary but I didn't find any issue.
Then I tried to do a full format of data and system and installed a Rom via Odin.
Now I'm back with issues... I tried a full wipe install of Omega again but even during the initial download of apps I got several FC vrom gmail, hangout and so on...
What I can do to really try to solve this issue?
I would try again to format all system and data from TWRP and then install a different rom via Odin and stick to it and not using Omega with a minimal set of apps.
Any other suggestions?
What rom can be installed by Odin (it is more and more difficult to find one today...)
Thanks!
Sergio
Understand the process given by Developer.
Cool down man. It is not that difficult.
Please understand the installation process given by the developer.
Repeat it in mind and try to evaluate and create picture of installation sequence in your mind first before doing anything.
Check the versions which you will be using against the developer's
Prepare checklist. After every step check messages and the results and verify whether they are as expected.
If you follow above you will be able to do it as many of us are already doing it.
IF YOU ARE ON 4.3 you should have atleast MJ5 bootloader. If you have some previous version then you may face such problems.
Hope this will help
Cheers.

I did everything as suggested, Omegav V24 is 4.3 so I updated the bootloader otherwise no wifi working.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 (T210) - Can't factory reset ("make_extf4fs failed")
Hi all,
I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 (SM-T210), last week I updated it to Android 4.4.2 Kitkat using Kies.
But now, the tablet loads, starts downloading updates from Google Play, and after one or two minutes it reboots. All modifications I do are lost, even if I turn off Wifi, after reboot it's on again.
I tried to factory reset the device, but it throws a series of errors:
"E:format_volume: make_extf4fs failed on /dev/block/..."
Does anyone know how can I fix this?

Not sure if this would be along the same problem as yours but something similar once hsppened to me, not google update reboot but not being able to wipe device through twrp. I found that by going to the mount options first and mounting system etc and then go doing the wipe fixed this. You could also try to repair or change file system if that doesnt work or using the format option as well but be sure to backup anything you dont want to lose. All else fails always could reflash stock firmware via odin and choose nand erase all option.

Sorry. I'm somewhat new to some of the terms you used.
1. twrp. Is this an application?
2. mount options. Which mount options?
3. Repair/change file system. Where? How?
I don care about backup, the device is empty. In fact, my intention is exactly wipe it from any previous content, so it can work with 4.4.2.
I tried reflashing it with odin and heimdall, no success.

Sorry i assumed you were rooted and had custom recovery without asking. Twrp is a custom recovery you can use when you root a device. If you are not rooted I would download official firmware for your specific device, one option would be sammobile.com and would be good idea to do this over night as generally it takes awhile to download unless you pay for premium. Then unzip file and use odins ap slot for the file inside. U can choose nand erase all if wanted which should wipe before flashing. Im not sure how many official firmwares are available for yours specifically but may not hurt to have a couple or all handy in case one dont work. When you say no success you mean it just does the same thing as it did with kies or it doesnt flash it completely using odin?

My tablet was never rooted. I had problems with it, while it had Android 4.1.2. Did a factory reset and it got better, still I couldn't use FOTA update [after downloading the update and restarting, the device was counting to 25% then saying that there was some problem with the update]. So I used Kies and the update finally worked. But after that, the reset-loop started, and since that, nothing that I tried to do to solve the problem worked.
When I tried using odin, it started the flashing process, but it immediatelly fails.
