Official Youtube App for FTV - Fire TV Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there a way to install the official Youtube App for Android?
Every time when I install it it says, you need Google Play services!
Can someone plese tell me that? Thanks

Can you access root?
If not,you can get the YouTube HD Mod from this forum even though you will probably have issues logging in on it.
I don't log in on YouTube apps, though I am logged in through Opera Browser.

Yesterday I found the original YouTube TV App in the Amazon App Store on FireTV and it works perfect. Pairing and Login works also... Great!

YouTube for FireTV

Hello,
is there a better YouTube App as the "****ty" Amazon YouTube App? Without root I can't use the google youtube app and XMBC is not a good solution - only if i know what i want to play...
Thank you
It is possible to the normal android youtube apk.:good:
I installed these 4 apk´s onedrive.live.com/redir?resid=73036323A69E3CF1!1484&authkey=!AIVXLFXAOWDeM0Q&ithint=folder%2c.apk
After that I installed the newest playstore and google play services.
Than you have to install the newest youtube apk and sign in with your google account.:good:
Google music works, too
^^^WITHOUT ROOT!
There is a YouTube HD MOD that works perfectly fine if you have keyboard and mouse access.
No rooting needed and you only have to Google search "YouTube HD MOD" to find it.
It was the first thing I tried when root was not even available.
It is hard to read where the file is with the new design changes of XDA,but it is under downloads in colorful links.

Edit:Stupid Opera Browser does not include the http part and thus kills the linking function.

Hi - thank you! I don't know that Mod. I will try it - but first I've to order a Keyboard with Touchpad ... Maybe it would be great, because I can use Firefox for surfing too ...
Thank you!
The worst problem is that the fire TV's search screen appears frequently when using a browser, and you may not be able to stop it without root.
Opera is good despite that annoyance I show and the large cache filing, but FireFox is a hassle without root unless you can find a way to set a different IME as default to prevent the onscreen Fire search from coming up.
Would settings.apk work without root well enough to change defaulted IME to Null Keyboard?
I would assume you can install it like any app when sideloaded.

thats not the google one, its just a amazon clone.
Hi,
I mean that one: http://www.amazon.de/youtube-com-Yo...e=UTF8&qid=1414321064&sr=1-1&keywords=youtube
And it seems to be from youtube.com ? Or is it a clone? But if it's a clone, it's a real good one!
Does anyone have the official YouTube application for the Fire TV for me to side load? Thanks!!
YouTube for Fire TV
I have found that the YouTube app for Google TV works great on the Fire TV!
You just have to have Play Services installed so that you can log in (no root required). Of course, it will not show up on your list of apps so you will need another method to open it. I use the Folder Organizer app for Fire TV - ugly as sin, but effective!
new Youtube on Kodi (14.0,14.1) is actually awesome it has sweet UI looks much better then on XBMC (13++).
Other suggestion maybe Youtube for Google TV.

You need to install Google Account Manager 4.0.3 and any version of Google Services Framework and Google Services. If you are on Fire OS 4.1.1 (Sangria) then one extra permission needs to be granted via ADB. Instructions in this thread:
[HOW TO]Install GAPPS on the Fire HD6/HD7.

I second that. Viral Pro is even better than Youtube because you can have a popup player over any other applications. Logging in to Youtube account is also nice.
I can't find Viral Pro in the Amazon Store!!!

Hi I use instatube pro (not hd) it can download for offline viewing.
Snaptube
SnapTube is a great alternative client for YouTube:
Ad free
Video downloader
Direct MP3 downloader
Automatic updates through the app itself
I has been banned from the Google Play Store due to the downloading features.
It is listed on the Amazon AppStore, but I would not trust it: amazon version is 1.3.0 vs 1.9.1 for the latest official one. Maybe the one on Amazon is a fake or unauthorised listing by a third party.
Get it from the official page here:
http://snaptubevideo.com/
Official XDA Discussion.
Use opera browser side load the play store version
Supertube has background playing and a pop out player.
NewPipe! You can find it in the F-droid, awesome free open-source app manager. It is really nice if you use youtube for music, as you can download the mp3 file (or video) with one button and play songs in the background.
For those who keep on FireOS 4, Skytube is a great Open Source option, available on the Amazon Store, its a native app (not a browser linked to mobile youtube like other "apps" on Amazon Store), you can read comments, upload your suscriptions (manually), the only cons, you cannot login, but its fine to light usage.

I tried that several times even uninstalled the app but no luck. Thanks a lot for your reply.
The modded version of YouTube app does not require root on FireTV since there is no system app.
Go grab the YouTube HD Mod from the related forum topic and try it via sideloading.
Uninstall the normal YouTube app first.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1529715
And if that does not work, try getting an older version of the GTV YouTube app since that one works really well and I started having trouble with the modded version being inconsistent and crashing.

Logging Into YouTube App on 2nd Generation FireTV

I was able to sideload the Aptoid store and install the "official" Youtube app, not the wrapper app that's currently available. I am not able to login and see my subscriptions. The app works fine but when I try and login nothing happens. Do I need to uninstall the wrapper version of Youtube that's currently installed? Is there a way to get the darn PlayStore installed?
Thanks

You need google services installed. There are a few threads on how to install it, but finding the compatible versions also seems to be the issue. If you are looking for a version that will be available after the new year (if truly google blocks amazon) side-load and install this one.

It works like the current amazon youtube app, but registers as a TV.
Nevermind

I was reading further down and apparently you can view videos but not actually login to the account which is stupid but at least it's installed.

Do you know of a way to get YouTube TV to work as well? I am a subscriber and can't seem to cast it from my iphone to my TV.
Thanks

You might be able to get into the youtube tv through silk or firefox. Both seem to work ok with regular youtube and logging in.

Install the following for signing in. Youtube and services are working with these....
Google Account Manager v4.4.4-1227136
Google Services Framework v4.4.4-1227136
Google Play Services (AndroidTV) v11.9.51 (836-177350961)
Google Play Store (AndroidTV) v4.6.17
For youtube
YouTube for Android TV (Android TV) 2.02.08
I can upload a zip file for these. This should get you into running the YouTube TV app. If there is one, try the YouTube for Android TV (64bit if available)

Youtube stuck at 720p FireTv Stick (Tank)

Hi, I realized that YouTube videos in many cases do not upload of 720p, particularly those that are at [email protected]
I already tried to sideload the youtube app from android tv and it works perfect all videos are at 1080p, except that it is not possible to login due to the lack of google services
the other alternative was to use smart youtube tv app, which also works but has some bugs and crashes especially in live broadcasts
Has anyone managed to fix this? in the stock app or log in on youtube tv through google account?
thanks for the help!
