Hi guys, I hope this is the right forum to ask.
I have, of course, an Ascend p6 (Italy).
The kernel version is: 3.0.8-00778-gd8aacf6.
Since I never received OTA updates (I own the P6 for about a year), I called Huawei Italy, asking if I could install the latest firmware available on their site, namely "firmware P6 (P6-U00, Android_4.2, Emtion_UI, V100R001C00B112, West_Eur ope-Channel, 05011SRP) "released on 07/21/2014
I saw that the B606 is the branded version of Vodafone (Huawei center also confirmed this point), but I'm not a Vodafone customer, so I cannot understand why I have suche branded version, so I cannot receive the OTA upgrades.
Huawei center told me that the firmware version described above is the latest available, and that they cannot give more information about the branded versions.
My questions are:
-I can install the firmware version that I just downloaded, or I will create problems because the cell is branded?
-for do so, I must be the root user or not?
-mi understand that the Android version of this update is still 4.2, how can I switch to 4.4 (with Emotion UI after the 1.6)?
Thanks a lot in advantage.

hello first thing is, what p6 version do you have? (there is p6-u06 (international version) and p6-u00 (this one is chinese)), what firmware are you at? if you are at b112 or less and you have international version one, you have to update to b132 (search for the b132 update here on xda), then update to that version (b132) by making a folder on your sd card called "dload", and turn off the phone completely, then press: power, volume + and volume - buttons, until it power on, wait 2 seconds and release power button, then it will automatically update, then download the b510 here on xda, rename the zip file to "UPDATE", put it on dload folder on sd card, go to settings===> update==>local update (the update process takes like 5-10 minutes), and you will be on kitkat with emui 2.3. after that, you need to root the phone (vroot works good, but is in chinesse languaje) , install twrp recovery 2.8.0.0 (highly recommended) using adb and fastboot method (there are some tutorials here on xda) and you will be ready to install any kitkat custom firmware or stock b6xx firmware. hope it helps!

Hi Daniel, thanks for your answer and your italian at the end of reply
I have p6-U06.
Mi firmware version is B606 that is a branded version of Vodafone, although I'm not a vodafone customer.
For this reason I'm not sure if I can directly upgrade to the latest version, I think that B606 version is less that B112, but I'm not sure.
Could I update to B132 or there is some risk?
Thanks a lot.
Ciao
hello, since b606 is jellybean 4.2.2, and b132 is jellybean too it may not be any problem to update, after reading a lot, b606 firmware users complain about the performance of the phone along other bugs... and b606 is an old firmware, even b112sp04 is newer that b606, so make the update via dload (ive explain on my last comment to b132, please make the backups of your pictures, sms, and last and most important, the apn configuration (the 3g access configuration), do the update to b132, the goodies of b132 wifi conect and disconnect is fixed, the bad, battery draining is higher... but once you are on b132 you can update to b510 kitkat. by the way, b112 have many bugs, even the wifi bug... so is better to get the b132 update.
hope it helped!
---------- Post added at 01:24 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:21 PM ----------
other thing, the latest version of firmware of vodafone is b607 and 610, but still jellybean.... and i have not tested if can update from b606 to b610 via dload since vodafone lock the ota update to customers in countries approved by them... tha is why you never get any online updated on the phone.
Hi danielpsx, thanks a lot for your answer.
I will download either b132 and b510, and will install them.
Just a final question: both the firmware must be in zip format in dload folder or just the b510, while the b132 should be unzipped?
Thanks!

that a good question, the b132 update in most of cases must be unzipped and you will see some file called "UPDATE.UPP", and the b510 must remain as a zip file, but you must see by yourself, if the zip contains various files inside it must remain zipped, just rename it to update, if the file only contains 1 file called update, unzip it. in both cases must be placed on dload folder on sd card.

Hi! Please I'd liek to ask for help. I'm in the same situation as the OP, but I can't update my P6.
I put the update file to the microSD card and reboot, I got the attached screen.
The up and down volume buttons don't work and I can only press the power button this rebooting the phone. And the phone is vibrating constantly in this state Tried a different microSD card, no help. The update file is even found via the Settings menu of the phone, but after reboot the same situation happens.

To me it seems like you sont have the update.app file in the dload folder on the root of your card, so you might want to check on that.

Hello! I bought a P6 very recently, but it turns out that its stock system is based on the Chinese local store, not Google Store! This is a very big problem as I am a Canadian user, and I have many apps and personal information that's associated with my Google account.
The current version of my p6 is B508 after the kitkat update. So can anyone please shed some light on how I can replace it with an international rom? I see so many versions flying around and I don't know where to start anymore...step by step guidance would be greatly appreciated, as I'm a noob with custom roms.
Thank you all in advance!

I tried to boot into the bootloader by both methods (pressing volume down + power button, and from the command line), but both method got me stuck on the white screen with orange WO logo. Is this a common problem? How do I get around it?
ie. The device shows up when i go adb devices, so this part is fine at least.

Changing from b508 is little irritating process, but it's possible ,, first you've to downgrade to b132 ,,,then you can upgrade to kit Kat versions,,,, directly you can't change from b508 to international kit Kat versions,,

I find B508 is way better than international kitkat roms. For google play, go to the Huawei app store app and then search for google play and install it. or alternately download google play apk file and install it.

I believe that "white screen with orange WO logo" it's in your case a bootloader mode so type "fastboot flash recovery {here type your stock recovery file name.img} after that, force update.app (P6 Unicom EMUI2.0) (power and both volumes) make sure you got update.app in sd/dload folder and then just update to B132.
Your recovery file should be placed in adb folder

So I decided to give fate a shot, and went straight with your method (started copying the first .app file to the SD and update it). It worked! So it seems like my device's bootloader was already unlocked? Anyways, I followed your method seeing that the first step was successful, and now I have the international kitkat with full working Google Store! My deepest gratitude to all of you!
@warea: I actually had the Google Play services installed, but it would simply crash on me after I entered my account, just before the policy page showed up. I reset the phone multiple times, went with all the methods I could find about getting Google Play to work with the Chinese version, but I couldn't...Which makes sense, because it's likely forcefully blocked to avoid conflict on interest. That's my guess though!
Uhmm That's weird, I have no problems with google services at all. I've changed official roms B132, B125, B510, B512. B634 a multiple times and Google always works. Which Rom you are running now? In my case B132 is best one, I will wait for another KitKat release as for now all KitKat seems to be a little sluggish for me.
Hi.
I'm in similar situation as kesun (OP) was: I'm running B508 right now and I want to install the international version B512. Google Play Store was installed, but it also crashes everytime I open it and it can't be fixed with any of the suggestions found online (downloading newer version, updating Google Play Services, clearind data and cache, etc.)
I know that in order to install B512 I have to first install B132, but I recently discovered that the bootloader in my phone is locked, does that prevent me to doing this? If so, how do I unlock it?
Thank you all in advance.
Can anyone please give me a hand here? I've been told that the bootloader doesn't have to be unlocked to install official firmware, so I gave it a try.
The methods described here involve flashing EMUI 2.0 (which I already have, do I need to flash it again?, can I do that with bootloader locked?), then installing the B132 firmware and them the B512.
I encountered a problem when installing B132 via local update. It says "Huawei SD card update failed", then it does a couple of steps and gives a big FAILED.
I remind you the my bootloader is locked. I suspect this is the problem. I'm currently running 4.4.2 with B508.

Try the suggested method and install the emui 2.0 even though you already have it, because I know few months ago people had problem reverting back to jb without the update. Then you can try to install the B132.

There is a downgrade update.app for EMUI 2.0 just search here on XDA otherwise you will not be able to downgrade.

Yes this would cause such a error message, there could be a different problem but I don't think that.

Thanks again, mate.
EDIT @taaeem, sorry for the hassle, but I have a few more doubts.
Is it important which version of the firmware and which Android version i'm coming from? I'm running B508 right now, which is a KitKat firmware. Can I just flash a 4.2 firmware (B132) from a 4.4 firmware? I've seen many post talking about flashing some other stock recovery in order to being able to go from B50x to B132 and then to B512. Do I need to have bootloader unlocked for this? If you culd just go through the steps quickly I'd appreciate it greatly.
Thanks in advance

No need of other stock recovery just download the downgrade update.app and put it on your dload folder and update. Than put B132 update.app in the dload folder IMPORTANT delete the other file before.
And then update again and that should work.

All done!
Will say Update FAILED if USB cable is plugged in, must UNPLUG usb cable for stock recovery to update successfully.
I purchased the tablet online in China about two months ago, so I got a tablet running CN system. (A5CN51C as I got it.)
So I followed a manual and immediately flashed a A5FM51C system.img to my tablet.
When the OTA A5FM91E came, I checked up this forum, only found high risk of updating.
While today, while I consulted a Chinese forum, there is a method to safely update the tablet to a newer version of system without converting back to CN systems ( meanwhile the boot is still lost after updating ! )
Basically, for all who initially has a CN system installed and successfully converted to TW version, there is a way to update your system while keeping all google frameworks.
Method is listed below.
1. Enable developper mode and USB debugging, and connect to PC using adb.
2. Flash the corresponding boot.img and recovery.img to the tablet. (By saying corresponding, it's the boot.img and recovery.img must match the version you're using. For eg, I'm updating from a A5FM51C version, so I should at least have a boot.img and recovery.img of A5FM51C.)
Below you can find the boot.img and recovery.img of A5FM51C.
HTML:
http://pan.baidu.com/s/1gdwKN7P
Password 2jwi
or https://www.dropbox.com/sh/drmfv30k54jgb35/AABc9uPxpOSUNHsV1lSD-k_1a?dl=0
command on adb shell should be like :
Code:
su
dd if=/sdcard/recovery.img of=/dev/block/pci/pci0000:00/0000:00:01.0/by-name/recovery
dd if=/sdcard/boot.img of=/dev/block/pci/pci0000:00/0000:00:01.0/by-name/boot
3. After rebooting once and rebooting into recovery mode, check if the recovery is converted to the targeted version.
As I am updating to a system with Google applications, I should check if the version is marked FM.
4. In the recovery mode, side load the updating zip files, after a patient waiting, the system should be successfully updated.
ATTENTION ! [/SIZE]the zip file should be a full updating file, NOT A PATCH zip. So the file you are side loading is at least 300+ M.
If you are updating from A5FM51C, you can directly download from the links below two files.
HTML:
A5FM91E 848.38M
http://ota-service.oss.fc811.com/upload/Nokia/moorefield/Nokia_N1/N1-tw2015/A5FM91E_update.zip
A5FMB19 816.04M
http://ota-service.oss.fc811.com/upload/Nokia/moorefield/Nokia_N1/N1-tw2015/A5FMB19_update.zip
5. The first time booting the updated system could be time consuming, so take a cup of coffee and be patient.
All credits should be given to the Baidu Tieba user "遇上咨询", and if you happened to be capable to read Chinese, you can visit http://tieba.baidu.com/p/4174802149 for further consult.
PS.
I updated from A5FM51C firstly to A5FM91E, after once rebooting normally into the system, I then updated again to A5FMB19, just being careful not to cause any damage.
And after updating there could be several applications crash unconditionally, since I've been using the system for less than 24 hours, I am not sure if this situation can be optimised after a period of time.
So the update only brought the Android version to 5.1.1, and Nokia added a "Close all app" button in the overview. Consider again if you are willing to spend one hour to update the tablet into a very similar system !
Wish you luck.

Originally, I converted my tablet at A5CN51C, with root. Following this manual.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/nokia-n1/general/n1-taiwan-release-t3083115/post62313790
So using this method to convert, you should guarantee a valid root state executing DD command on adb shell.
So I personally think that at least you should wait for a root method, then there would be a chance for converting system.
I directly updated from A5FM51C to A5FMB19 (not went through A5FM91E . confirmed it's okie with this method

After converting the recovery and boot partitions to FM version, there should not be a problem in updating directly by OTA.
Before, when I execute OTA, it will pop up a message read "Could not download the update, please check the storage". And after, I could successfully start the download. It was because the limited network speed, I've chosen to side load the update package.
But it's merely my guess. Since the tablet has at least 20 partitions, and I don't know if there's any other which could influence this process. Maybe we could invite a real expert to join in this discussion.

No.

Hi, guys, thank you for help with moving from CN to TW. I've done this from rooted A5CN51C to A5FMB19.
But, now I've got system reboot every 15 min. Uptime no more than 30-35 min. It's very unstable during watching video (e.g. youtube app). Do you have the same? Model: n1s.

Are you experienced with using adb? There are a number of options available you can download each successive update and update that way by placing them on your sdcard, or you can flash the current one directly using bootloader or adb sideload, to flash through bootloader you will find the complete tutorial and links to the files in the thread for changing from CN to WW, the instructions and files for adb sideload are located on the ASUS support site.

Maybe something missing in system files.
Can you please give us some detail about your device?
By flashing a new complete Rom you won't lose any data unless you reset the device on this phone your data is not removed when you flash, but you will get a clean install of the OS

Same problem here!
Hello, I have the same problem pointed at in the topic. My zenfone2 comes from china but hosts a WW firmware.
When I turn it on, a chinese banner appears, then the Asus logo, then all goes well, aside from some bugs that I learned were solved in later firmwares.
I've tried updating manually, but the phone doesn't prompt the installation after saving the latest firmware .zip in the root of its internal storage.
Would it work using the method of renaming the .zip file into "MFOD_SDUPDATE.zip", placing it into SD card and then restarting in Recovery Mode? Should I do this with the latest firmware or am I supposed to go through all the updates up to the latest one?
Edit: I put the official .zip file in sd card and renamed it "MOFD_SDUPDATE.zip". I then turned on the phone in recovery mode and update started automatically. I actually forgot to make sure that my recovery is same SKU as firmware, but I must have been lucky, 'cause everything worked well!
Hi guys,
I'm using Honor 7x BND-AL10C675 (Indian). I wanted to get back to stock as emui 8 stable rolled out. I was running emui 8 beta and I was stuck so I flashed the stock recovery, re locked bootloader, and downloaded the EMUI 8 update.app file from "Huawei firmware finder". Now, I created the "dload" folder in sd card and pressing both volume buttons and power button, I tried to install the firmware.
It says "The update failed" at 5% and I tried it many times. Maybe it's a mismatch or incompatible. Now, I can't go back to my twrp backup as stock recovery was installed. I can't flash recovery or rom using fastboot as it requires unlocked bootloader. To unlock bootloader, I need to enable "OEM UNLOCK" in settings and I can't boot into system as everything is wiped when I relocked the bootloader. So I'm basically stuck.
The only things I can do now is to install the stock firmware using the dload method. However, I need the right update.app file so I can install using install the firmware. I can't use Nougat file as I guess we can't go back to Nougat from Oreo. So I need EMUI 8 firmware BND AL10C675.
I can't find it anywhere, so Could someone miraculously post a download link or the file here? What should I be doing?

Hi guys,
I'm using Honor 7x BND-AL10C675 (Indian).

I downloaded it but the update failed again. I guess the file is not the right one for this model but I don't know why it's listed as the right model. I thought I could install stock Emui 8 Rom by downloading from "firmware finder" so I just locked myself out of all the options now. Such a shame

I'm not positive on the correct DLOAD method
I think you extract the update.zip to dload folder on sdcard.
The whole zip package, not just the update.app

Did you do this guide?
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=73954487&postcount=240
I followed all the steps and I guess it's more complicated for me. I was stuck with an older build number although I changed different ROMS. Maybe because of that the update doesn't authenticate and fails to install the firmware. I don't know but also it maybe that the firmware isn't for my exact model. I just don't know and my phone is as good as bricked and I"m taking it to service centre.
What's more hurting is that, I Locked myself out of all the options. I mean I have the bootloader unlock code, Twrp backup but I just went through a one way route so confidently that it would work and I locked bootloader, flashed stock recovery. It's such a shame that HUAWEI DOESN'T RELEASE THE STOCK FIRMWARE EVEN AFTER ALMOST 6 MONTHS OF THE HONOR 7X RELEASE. If they had the stock firmware available just like Xiaomi, I wouldn't have had all this trouble.
I don't know why no one raises the voice. I really hate Huawei for this and I'll make sure I won't recommend these phones to anyone.

Phone is sold as a scrap for 2000 RS (30$ approx) There was no way to revive it after losing that fastboot and getting that above said error state.
Dear community,
I am the proud owner of this superb phone. I have it in completely stock mode, never unlocked or rooted (sorry to say that, but the days of flashing new roms every week are history for me for some years already).
I have bought it in EU from official partner (no grey import!), the HiSuite installed the build number DUK-L09C432B189 (Android 7) as the latest version, which is odd, since I know this device has been rolled out with Android 8 and will get Android 9 soon, even in EU.
I have downloaded the Stock ROM with January 2019 patch set, build number DUK-L09C432B378 directly from honor cloud.
I have tried all the possible combinations of uploading the files to the SD Card and flash it this way (create dload folder and put UPDATE.APP inside, tried also uploading zip files, tried to store them directly to root without dload folder etc.) but none of them worked for me. Always got to 5 % and then "Software installation failed". The dload/UPDATE.APP was the only combination going forward via *#*#2846579#*#* menu and SDcard upgrade, so it rebooted into flashing mode, all the other combinations failed with "no firmware found", etc.
Anyone has any bulletproof idea how to continue? I have even found somewhere an information, that particularly C432 are unable to be flashed via SDcard... Why would just this region be such limited?
I have spent last 8 hours trying all the possible combinations and need a push to the right direction.
Thanks in advance for any help guys.

Get a new phone. Huawei seems to have just forgotten that this phone exists. And this is high time you move to a phone more customizable and popular with all the trade wars going on. If you had the Bootloader unlocked you could have just flashed the Ota rom updater zip with the update folder inside. Alternatively you can use firmware finder but this includes changing your dns server. All the best. Don't expect a lot of replies, this phone along with it's user base is basically dead.
Yeah, I would love to get a new phone. But the only option to get the same features is leading me back to Huawei again. (I use mainly GSMarena to do the comparison of features, and verify on other sources as well.)
So instead of buying another one, which (with the knowledge of the situation of US/CN trade war, is currently a walk into a dead forest) I would just keep this Honor 8 Pro till it works.
And it's not really true Huawei has forgotten it totally. Why would they rollout Android 9 to it then?
Let me rephrase the question a little bit: Is there anyone who has successfully upgraded their Honor 8 Pro with C432 region via SD card? If so, how?
Thanks.
So I have written to Honor support and they seem to have my phone enabled for the updates, since I got the latest update finally today. Thus SDcard method is not required anymore.
Hi @gabriel31337 - i have exact the same problem. Whom did you contact to get the latest version OTA enabled?
Hi @UFO-waRhawK, I have wrote to this mail address: [email protected]
Ok, whoever faces this problem, insert a valid SIM card. Once i inserted my SIM, i was able to update to the latest version immediately. You can still download the update via WLAN, but using only WLAN without a SIM will let you stay on the old version.
