[Q] Smart TV Box - Fire TV Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi
Need help in identifying the following device so I can upgrade from 4.2.2 to 4.4 or above.
These are the details I can from from various sources ( Device itself and XBMC Hardware Information)
FROM XBMC HARDWARE INFORMATION:
HArdware: ARMv7 Processor Rev 4 (v7I)
BogoMips: 1823.53
Sun7i
Revision 0000
Video: GPU Mali-400 MP
Screen Res 1280*[email protected]
OpenGL Vendoe: ARM
Open GL Version: OpenGL ES 2.0
OS: Android 4.2.2 API Level 17 (kernal: Linux 3.3.0)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
FROM ANDROID DEVICE:
Model Number: A10-20
Android Version: 4.2.2
Firmware version: v1.2patchrc2ota
Kernal Version: 3.3.0 [email protected] #14 Fri Nov 1 09:31:16 CST 2013
Build Number: RSH-A10-D ROOT XBMC 20131127
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Any idea on what rom upgrade I can use on this device. It is rooted, but as with all Android devices the manufacturers are not great at upgrading their OS.
The version 4.2.2 is an issue for me playing video at 720p or higher and feel I will get better support from 4.4 or above.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
kindest regards
Michael

Hi
I first posted this in the XDA Assit forum and it was suggested I posted it here instead. Maybe this is the wrong forum. Can you suggest a forum to post this too. My device is not an Amazon Fire.

this device probably has big issues playing HD content because hardware decoding is not supported in xbmc, and the allwinner a10 boxes are pretty much junk so upgrading your OS to 4.4 isnt going to fix that. what you need is a version of XBMC that will work with your box. google all winner a10 xbmc and start trying options that are out there.. (none are that good from what i read). You should find something with at least limited hardware decoding support.
good luck

Thank you

Hi hnumber
many thanks for that info. I have to agree with you. XBMC/KODI has an issue with HD video. I can use an external player so \i will work on configuring that.
Thanks for the advice,
Michael

Great stuff all. Is it possible to post the apk for the updated version 3 of this app released this week?
How about the Tablet edition? I can't download it on my Transformer even though it says it's for tablets.
Latest update
Here's the 3.0 version that enabled the free trial this week I believe.

Version 3 is for phones. Version 2.3 is current for tablets. It is fully compatible with Nexus 7 but Play Store claims it is not compatible with Samsung Galaxy Tab 2, Motorola Xoom plus many other tablets. I'm using it successfully with both the afore mentioned tablets.
Can someone hack this?

Been using xbmc since Xbox lol.
Used a few builds on my a100 and thrive, still has a ways to go.
I also run it on my apple TV 2 and my apple TV running Ubuntu.
Boxxy is similar to xbmc not the other way around

This forum is not about porting OS's to devices, it is about porting apps, that you developed, to other OSs.
For example, you made an app thats a tetris game for android and you want to make it work on Windows Phone, this section is about that.
Go to another thread to discuss about this.
I don't want to sound mean or rude, but really, just because you ask for a port to your device doesn't mean it will happen. Either way, this is not the appropriate place for this.
Please delete this thread.
guy its very tough to do that without buggs

Pure android Kindle
Check out N2Aos. They will completely wipe your kindle and install a rooted, custom build of cyanogenmod 10.1 jellybean for $20. I realize many people, including me, know how to root and install custom roms, but there are special considerations with the kindle, such as installing a second bootloader. N2AOS will even perform the install remotely at no extra charge. A small price to pay for peace of mind.
And, no, I am not associated with the company in any way other than being a satisfied customer.

Think you can post about something other than N2Aos? You have made 7 posts and 4 of them is trying to get people to use/pay for N2Aos.

Sorry if I offended. You‘re absolutely right! I was just so pleased with how it turned out, I wanted to spread the word. People should have choices. I‘ll say no more about it.

Thanks but that's not really what I'm looking for kfhd8.9 isn't one of the confirmed devices under root many android. This thing cost me 400$ I can't afford a 400$ paperweight. N2Aos sounds good but I don't think I want a custom Rom. Or pay money for it. What I'm really looking for is a guaranteed safe way to root my stock kfhd8.9 with the latest firmware 8.4.6 that can easily be unrooted if I decide to later I'm not really interested in the Google play store or any other Google apps. All I really want is for my kindle to run faster and have the option to customize it a little. Like go launcher I don't want to loose the ability to play all my kindle tablet edition games that I bought. Kffirstaid looks promising but I'm not sure how up to date it is and the information is scattered through about 300+ pages of posts. Any other suggestions would be appreciated thank you in advance

Um yea, I don't offer tools that don't work. I know how much they cost. If you have the 2012 model Kindle Fire HD 8.9" then it will work just fine for rooting. Read up around the forums if that's not good enough for you because that question has been answered many times already.

amazon kindle (2012) ? firmware 7.5.1

hi,i'm really struggling to find any up to date info/links on whether it is still possible to root a"Kindle fire 2012?" which is on version 7.5.1. i know the device is really old and probably not worth my time and effort, but tbh i really like to have a go at these things and enjoy it.i have had a look around the pages here and found something interesting last night" root with restore by bin4ry v 33 i think? and i tried this method on my P.C(windows 10) all was going well but even though i followed the tutorial step my step, i seemed to be having the same issues as some other people.. that were trying the same thing and as far as i could see the issue was never resolved. either it didn't fully work(for some) or the superuser app didn't install(for some) etc etc.Can some one please direct me to a working root procedure or help me out please just to clarify my amazon kindle was purchased around 2012 and is currently on version 7.5.1 ! many thanks in advance if some one can help

Likely best rom is
