What changes would you like for your UI ?
Maybe possible suggestions can be forwarded to the Huawei developers so that they add into the new firmware upgrades. :victory:
Let me start with one : An LG G2 type guest user login option. I got no idea if its possible but ...
Another suggestion would be to get rid of the iphone looking theme with those box icons. I always stayed away from the iphone because of that.
And yes as some other user on this forum asked for, a more detailed notification on the lock screen. :good:
It would be nice if we had possible to switch to vanilla android look
More black.
Settings menu, phone, notification panel,...
Sent from my HUAWEI P6-U06 using xda app-developers app
A Motorola droid type wheel menu for the camera. Maybe they could just add the profile switching wheel for the camera too.
google play edition
make google play edition
that would be great!
I manufactured a rumour and posted on facebook:
Okay guys this is what the insider sources tell me on the upcoming Emotion 2.0 upgrade.
- Firstly chucking the old iphone looking theme for a more premium look and finish theme with a default standard brand huawei theme.
- The lock screen would allow the guest login mode.
- The bottom tray app icons would be swipe to scroll type making room for more.
- New Huawei exclusive live widgets and floating apps including a floating sms/email app.
- There is going to be selection of animated pet or figure (also targeting Asian users having a craze for Hello Kitty, Rilakuma, etc) which would be possible to pop open from anywhere and through this pet all notifications, alarms, internet search, floating apps, voice control, camera, connectivity toggles, etc would be possible. The pet can be awakened with a phone shake.
- The smart scroll feature that scrolls according to head movements making reading user friendly.
- Message reading is going to be upgraded with lot of swipe features like the swipe to delete or swipe to send feature.
- Swipe call feature on contacts if you want to directly call from contacts rather than the two step process of entering into the contact.
And many more nice tweaks which i don't remember right now. But from the sound of what he said, something big is coming soon by before last quarter or first quarter next year along with the latest android version.
Support Huawei everyone !!!!!

Why just black ? Why not user customizable along with theme and with less visibility so that wallpapers show behind it like Windows desktop bottom bar ?
I didn't see much use with the app drawer. All the frequent use apps i put on the front for quicker use and so my usage of app drawer was once in a while. Id say they have to come up with something new for placing the not so frequently used apps.

Cool! The one thing I missed from my Wimmobile days is that I can switch between apps quickly by pressing the icons on the notification bar(Taskbar?). As shown on below page. Strange that nobody had done that on android. This is the next best thing!
http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ppc-download-wktask-v1-1-7-3b.html
Will be even better if there is an option to adjust the width of the "windows" to make it less obtrusive.
Thanks!
Some suggestion/issue:
1. Can you make small apps to have transparent background always? After you select one of the task, the small app background stay opaque until you tap the running application.
2. Is it possible to have button to minimise the small app into floating small icons? (similar to selecting minimise from the notification windows)
3. I don't know whether this is by design, but when you open up the phone application and then touch back button, it will remove it from the small app. If you open up the task swithcer however, it will still listed phone app as the most recent one.
PS: Love your mod for Xperia Ray (I still used your system ui mod for ray) :good:

1. Well if i can override the theme of sony small app built in theme it should be possible.
2. It is possible but it will take a space if i put it just like that into the header. Unless i make it as horizontal list (which need some time to try).
3. Yes it was my intention to remove all closed app from the menu. In the stock Android setting, the Recent Apps will always store the closed application, so the next time you open it, it will not move the existing task to the front, but start a new activity for it. What i did was to remove all the closed apps, so to reduce the recent apps number there. But that's a good suggestion, i might add an option to fix that.

New Version 1.6.0 is uploaded! Changelog:
1. Added custom UI and transparency
2. New UI options
3. Added Option to view all Recent Apps just like the stock Recent App contain.
Ps: the UI in fact can be docked to the edge of your screen as i found out. Just double tap the move button and then drag it into the near edge of the screen, preferably at the right
Edit: It is recommended to turn on showing running apps. There are some undetected bugs with some Google apps of you leave it unchecked. Will inspect later. In the mean time stay with showing Running Apps only.
1.6.5 uploaded! Changelog:
1. UI tweak
2. Duplicated Recent App Fix
3. Additional Minimize and Fit to Window button

@hansip87
kinda offtopic question this but how do you get those 6 icons next to eachother here?:
I thought, would be nice to talk separetly about the KitKat International B510 firmware. Also we can write reviews.
My FIRST impression about this KitKat update is mixed. I missing a lot of features, like Permission manager for push services?!
Video playing is really bad! Standalone and online also. If i open videos online, and rotate the screen, i only hear the sound but the screen flashing all the time. Also video image slides alot!
Sometimes the launcher freez, when scrolling to another page. At multi-tasking when i close app with gesture, (not clicking on "X") it closes not smoothly.
Permission manager is gone? A lot of apps needed that, to work properly. For example: Facebook Messenger Cheat heads blocked, so i cant use it because of that.
Others? Whats your imressions overall?

This is BETA, so it's undestandable to have some issues and missing apps. All apps will be there in the official release.

Yes. Give it a shot, it is much faster and all the new functions are running very smooth. The performance is much better.
Update this beta version through OTA (I attended to do beta tester).
No problem with standalone and online video, about launcher seems slightly less fluid, I recommend using a theme created for 2.3 EMUI version.
About the permission manager, I suppose it's changed the method of management with the app "phone management"
I love the new keyboard and the new lock screen !

Yes, im okey with changes, but if it's working well. In phone management you'll not finding any options to set up, permissions neither push options. So it's not a good "change".

I find instead the new implementation significantly easier to use than before, for example, the widget is really functional and also the new management once you understand how it works, I do not mind at all.
It is true, I have not found the settings about notifications, but the rest is "smarter" :highfive:
for me no problem with video playback ( i sugest hwreset)
and Permission manager is now phone manager... so nothing is missing at all ;p
it runs good as for day of usage ;p

@BeyondTheHorizon (assuming your working for Huawei)
My impressions, after updating from B506 to B510. Note that since i have already used Emui2.3 beta (B014) and Emui 2.0 (official) i will not get into mentioning its improvements over Emui1.6.
- Magazine lockscreen is awesome. But i don't understand why magazine option is enabled only for a selected theme, while a few other theme have weather option on lockscreen, and why not instead have them all for all themes. (Also haven't figured out what the "link" option is within the magazine lockscreen menu).
- Overall there is lags and inconsistency in transition and animation speeds everywhere.
Examples:
> Pulling down notification panel has slower animation then when pulling it back up. While on the other hand there is also a jamming lag when notification panel goes back up.
>Random lags when moving about homscreen pages.
> lag in settings sections when entering each settings item.
- I personally dont like the splitting of drop down panel into two "notification" and "switches". The combined was much better. Even in the split form, there is design inconsistency, for example in the switch panel there is lot of free empty space on the bottom half and there is no point in having a slide down arrow to reveal just one row of switches. Furthermore it would have made sense to have the switches fill the bottom half, as it makes it easier for one hand usage. But i still prefer the the combined form which just two rows of switches and brightness option, while the rest hidden under the slide down.
- Thankfully the weather 4x2 widget is proper size, compared to the huge size on B506 and B014. But the transparent clock widget (first introduced on Honor 3c & 3x) is not yet available on this rom.
- The video player app is missing (and like others mentioned, the permission and startup apps manager, one hand option and navigation bar hiding option is missing too)
- I was hoping for changes in the "customize" section of the theme changer app. The old problem of swiping right/left a lot to get to the end of the lockscreen styles, or icons types, etc remains a burden.
- As someone said, its time to change the grey color of navigation bar. Either allow users to customize it, or have a number of colors that changes according to apps.
- In contacts "favorite" section, there is Chinese fonts.
- I don't think there is a need to have all the google apps pre-installed. Just a couple of them would be enough, while the rest can be downloaded from playstore.
- The water mark option in camera is nice. Cant find the "Cheeze" to take pics option. The photo editor is great and fun too. Video recorded on camera comes out dark. In case of taking selfie pics, once you hit the shoot button, the screen weirdly gets all yellow before taking the pic. Photos looks grainy too. But im no expert on camera, so i could be wrong.
- The Chinese rom had an app center app, and at times the latest version of the Huawei apps would be available on that. Such app updates are not available on this rom.
- The types of transition effects for homescreen keeps decreasing with every new rom update, when instead we should be getting newer ones added.
- The homescreen icons on this rom appear slightly bigger compared to them on the Chinese rom. Can be noticed when applying emui2.0 theme icons on this emui2.3 launcher.
Good and bad in B510
Good
- Magazine lockscreen is really good. I like it, hope more themes are like that.
- I like the splitting of drop down panel into two "notification" and "switches". But I hope they could have a setting to enable/disable it.
- Floating apps are awesome.
- Torch in notifications is very useful.
- Ultra power saving mode changes UI to dark black --> seems convincing that it will save battery life. Overall this rom has decent battery life.
- External SD settings
Bad
- Just hope that when I use other music players it can get the controls on the lock screen. Also, if there was a music slider to skip a few seconds of music was available on lockscreen that would be good.
- Hope that the default launcher could have a drawer. Having all the apps on the screen is messy.
- The radio widget still isn't transparent while the other huawei widgets are. It stands out and looks ugly.
- No permissions manager. It blocks facebook chatheads by default because it draws over other apps. No way to unblock it because permission settings are missing.
- The grey color of navigation bar is horrendous. Hopefully they notice this and they make it black or able to customize.
- Camera pictures look grainy.
- GPS still sucks. Don't know if it is a hardware issue.
- No ART mode
Other
- I don't know what to think about the carrier name. I feel like it's ok, don't hate it or like it.
The carrier name HAS to go! Why do they need to put it there anyway?
I agree with @warea about the notification panel that is better in Emui 2.0. Having it separate could work if you can change the settings of how you want it to be opened.
I find that the rom is a bit laggy most of the time, but for a beta I can live with it.

I know, right? It's awesome having it back! [emoji16]
I'm also glad that the day of the week is back in the notification panel.

The carrier name it's something new for this update. And everything else it's really just a matter of opinion. The most important thing is that this ROM must run smooth and fast without any lag when it will be released as official/final. Everything else is just customization that can be added or removed by rooting and installing third party apps.
Also noticed, my phone is really hot, even for simple use. And the battery is really bad on this rom.

WiFi band selection (was removed in Nougat)
Caffeine quick tile (http://lineageos.org/Last-Week-in-LineageOS-5/)
Change DPI settings per app (have different DPIs for different apps)
Better permission handling
Custom date format in status bar
Advanced call blocker and recorder (the latter would be neat to have)
Record voice calls with Voice Recorder app
Backup and restore LineageOS settings (maybe the user could choose where he wants to save the backup file?)
GNURoot Debian support

EDIT2: I'm not, in any way, affiliated with LineageOS (nor am I an official developer). I'm a community member just like you are
Android in general needs a system cleaner. Like CCleaner and others. Something like that would be good.
Change logs should be listed in the system update tool.
The system update tool should show at least a week of older updates as well as the current available updates. For example if I am running cm14.1 12-12-16 and I check for updates it will not show 12-6-16, only newer updates. Some updates contain bugs that may be missed for days. I usually delete old updates because it uses up space on my device with limited space. I updated to the latest cm14.1 two days ago and my data service was broken. The website no longer listed cm updates for me to find and I could not downgrade, I'm running aicp because I couldn't downgrade BC I usually delete updates that are older.

I'll start this discussion by suggesting two things:
substratum theme engine as default (or at least full compatibility with it)
use a PIN or password to unlock Protected Apps (right now you must use a pattern)
Just suggest what would you like to see in Lineage, preferably things that weren't included in CM.

Honestly, I'd prefer if they just use the CM Theme Engine. I already invested in that.

Theme engine since cm 14.1 doesn't have one.
TWRP recovery
Scheduled full backup of LineageOS modified OS settings (Live Display, Battery meter, time settings, WiFi passwords, status bar quick access configs etc) and apps with their data to Google Drive, so the user can wipe the phone or pick up a new one and restore everything from Google Drive.
Okay, I guess I find I'm slowly turning into more and more of a scientist and so I come up with really whacky theories and really whacky ideas of things to try. I'm knowledgeable about security practices, so some things I'd like to see... (I've been on Android 5, so it is possible at least one of these was already added to 7)
Add the ability to make LineageOS demand the device password (or PIN) once per day. Fingerprint readers are handy for quick lock/unlock, but your fingerprints are readily available. If one was to end up in state custody you likely don't want them to access your private data. As such, I'd like the ability for devices to lock once per day and require the password (or PIN) to unlock.
Include some extra support for smart-cards. One neat thing about smart-cards is they're rather more difficult to tamper with than normal data on a phone. If one's phone ended up in the hands of authorities and they really wanted to unlock it, they'd be able to get at the hashes in flash-memory. If the key for encrypting the userdata area was instead stored on a smart-card, they have a great deal more difficulty getting at it.
It would also be interesting to support OpenPGP cards and using a olde phone as an extra layer of security protecting one's PGP keys.
Okay, hopefully not too whacky for you.
The ability to roll back updates, (I know you can always take backups, but those take forever.)
- The old jellybean tablet ui for tablets.
- Assuming it's going back to it's roots as an os for enthusiasts, rather than a mainstream os, I'd like to see trickstermod type settings built in again.
- If means income to support development, I wouldn't be opposed to them following through on the miui business model they flirted with of having a cutting edge theme engine and a proprietary paid theme store.
Some way to disable the root notification icon per app.
Network speed display on the status bar
Double tap to wake!!!! I don't want to use my hardware buttons more than I have to. Cut down on physical wear.
Incremental updates
App Lock

Yeah just like many did with Windows 10. ??
Desired LineageOS features that were not in CM?
1) Samsung's Smart Stay feature
http://www.samsung.com/us/support/answer/ANS00047864/
2) Ambient Display/Moto Active Display feature
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5TyhaOjME5g
3) The ability to increase the size of all icons and text e.g. like in Nova Launcher
4) Lock screen weather animation(e.g. Like in the LG G3)
5) Double tap to wake and sleep, and Knock code
6) "Doze - For Better Battery Life" functionality with a whitelist feature
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.yirgalab.dzzz&hl=en
7) A Package Disabler app feature that can disable any application
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ospolice.packagedisablerpro&hl=en
8) A reliable custom ROM installer that supports a large variety of Android devices
9) Stickers and themes for the native SMS application
10) When you downloaded a new CM ROM upgrade(e.g. a nightly), you had to reboot into TWRP and manually select the ROM file to install it.
LineageOS ROM upgrades should function like regular OTA upgrades do i.e. you download it, choose install, it reboots your phone and
it automatically applies the upgrade(i.e. no hunting down the appropriate zip file)
P.S. The appropriate version of GApps should automatically be installed too if GApps was present before the upgrade!
11) A parallax effect option for any wallpaper(e.g. in the Samsung Galaxy S6)
12) Counters/badges for unread emails, missed voicemails, calls & SMS/MMS messages
13) A native HTML email client(as opposed to plain text). I should be able to click on urls in emails. Phone numbers in emails should
launch the phone dialer
14) A calendar icon that shows the current date on the home screen calendar icon
15) A voicemail-to-text feature
16) A chatheads option for the SMS app
17) A shortcut to install gApps
A superuser more in line with SuperSu, so no apps bork because no "SuperSu" even though device is rooted.
Perhaps phh's SuperUser/ OpenSource SELinux-capable SuperUser?
Here's my guide and recommended app list for making your device look as close as possible to the new Google Pixel device. Also included are some extra bits that make things look and feel better and add a little bit more functionality.
|||Required|||
ROM: Cm13/RR6.0.1
Kernel: Hotplug Enabler
SuperSU: Flash zip. Flashing the kernel breaks CM's root. The SuperSU zip works nice instead of that.
Xposed
|||For Theming|||
* Gboard (by Google) - Thks will give you the coolest Google keyboard around! Complete with intergrated searching and theming. TIP: Make sure you select the Dark Material with blue accents to get a nice Pixel look.
* Google Camera (by Google) - The default camera for default kind of situations! Nice and simple, does what it says on the box. Most Marshmallow .apks won't work showing a "can't connect to camera" error but you cam still use this version from ApkMirror:
Google Camera 2.7.010 (2617962-30) (arm) (Android 4.4+).apk
* Pixel Nougat (by Pashapuma) - This will give you the proper colors, status bar icons and other things that make your UI feel like Pixel. The app icons don't feel that "originally Pixel" but that is easily fixable with an icon pack. I personally preffer using the stock Marshmallow icons without round design.
* Nova Launcher (by Kevin Barry) - The behemont of Homescreens! Use this to make your homescreen and drawers look more "stock". You can opt for making it look more like Pixel Launcher. Personally I like Stock Marshmallow more.
- Recommended settings for Nova:
• 4x4 grid
• Icon Size: 120%
• App Drawer Icon Size: 125%
• Folder Icon Size: 125%
• Normalise Icon Sizes (Look & Feel)
• [Gesture] Set so when on main screen pressing the Home Button locks screen
* Android N-Ify (by MrWasdennnoch) - This will customise your Settings, Quick Settings, Status Bar and many more! Also replaces Now On Tap with Google Assistant!
* [Xposed]Always Expandable Notifications - Lets you expand and minimise any notification!
* [Optional][Xposed]CM Visualiser Xposed - Like the music visualiser appearing on the Lock Screen when Media is playing? Now you can have it in the Notifications Drawer when you pull down! Don't worry, it shouldn't interfere with notifications.
* [Xposed]Screenshot Delay Remover - Removes some of the delay on taking a picture.
|||For extra functionality and performance|||
* Coolify - Attempts to reduce heating
* [Root+Xposed]Greenefy - A must-have everywhere! Lets you hibernate apps and saves you a lot of memory. Donate to receive the feature of even hibernating system apps!
* [Xposed]Installer Opt - Has useful options like displaying the permissions requested by an app directly when installing an .apk and also has options of disabling signature checks and other helpful things.
* Lucky Patcher - Lets you patch apps to get rid of some ads or have in-app purchases free in some cases. Also gives you the abillity to move apps to /system
* [Xposed]Powernap - Optimises battery usage even more!
* Kernel Auditor - Save huge amounts of power my optimising your Cpu!
- Recommended settings for best battery:
• Minimum Frequency: 400 Mhz
• Shedule workqueues: Enabled
• I/O scheduler: cfq
*HEBF Optimiser - Save huge amounts of power by tweaking System Paramiters.
- Recommended settings for best battery:
• Zipalign: On
• VIP Battery Saver: Medium
• Improve Battery (by reducing Wi-Fi scan interval): On
• Google Services Drain Fix: enable all
• Wi-Fi sleeper: On
• Performance Tab: enable all except Use GPU Acceleration
• Internet Tweaks Tab: enable all
• Tools Tab: Disable Logging, Kernel Panic (if you don't care about taking logcats you can disable these for a small boost in performance)
|||Settings|||
Buttons: Set the Recents Button Long Press action to "Last App". This way you'll get Nougat-Like app switching.
This is all everyone! Hope my setup worked for you and that you are enjoying a nice Nougat-like device, maybe working even better than before!
Anyone, who is experiencing a huge space under qs header AND the "Fix huge space under qs header" in Experimental settings doesn't work, try to install this

Bootloop xposed on rr
Hey has anyone tried to use xposed on rr. For me it results in bootloop or it takes extremely long to bootup(which never happens as i never waited for more than 20 mins) . Device variant is J500F. Can you give me the link or specific version. And does substratum works on lineage os 14.1??
---------- Post added at 05:39 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:28 PM ----------
And for obvious reason i can't post in the respective thread.

Yes, for some reason installing Xposed after installing a kernel or SU results in extremely long waiting times to bootup (never waited until the end : )) ). So before installing anything else, start with fresh RR (no modifications trough flashing) and use Xposed Installer to automatically download the right version based on the tipsnit gives you, everything right from the installer.
