Are they just overclocking the Sprint version? http://www.technobuffalo.com/tag/galaxy-nexus/
i really hope they get a qualcomm version and just took a higher advertised clock speed over real life performance, i will never be using a snapdragon processor again, at least if their still using adreno
Its an ad, and its probably wrong.
Guess well find out soon enough. I won't be going back to Sprint till LTE is in my area.
I agree, I think its the ad that's wrong

What do you have against adreno?
My grandma beat me down and took my nexus. Sent from a jitterbug with beats by dre.
I don't think their LTE is launching until Q2 and by that time it'd be rather foolish it buy it considering the SGS3 should be out by then and a new Nexus would probably be less than 6 months away.

I wonder what they would call it ... Lol

Our CPU is rated for 1.5 but Google decided to UV the clock for battery life. Different carriers pay for different options so its not surprising that sprint would try and be different. They have to because there network is like a big long turd that wraps around the toilet

Does anyone have a guess on why they went with Texas instruments processor over samsungs exynos processor? Thanks in advance
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
They used OMAP4460 in the VZW version as Exynos doesn't like LTE at all. That's why the US version of the SGS2 is Snapdragon instead of Exynos. As for the GSM version, I'm guessing because they couldn't be bothered using anything better.
Thanks bud! So our verizon version has a different and better chip set?

No? They all have the same chipset.

Whats wrong with Adreno, you do know that adreno 220 is faster than gpu used in GN right?

Being a Nexus device, Google likes spreading the love. Nexus One had Snapdragon, Nexus S had Hummingbird, Xoom (not Nexus, but closely supported by Google) had Tegra, GNex has TI. Next up, who knows... But they certainly seem to like broadening the amount of chipsets they support more than they're focusing on raw performance.
Here sprint has some serious data issues. So bad tha AT&T is faster on edge much of the time. They could release a 2ghz version and i still wouldn't go back to them. I'm sure that it is likely worse now with the iphone.

Just to set your story straight....
The SoC is rated for UP to 1.5 GHz. This doesn't mean that our chips are in fact rated for operation at 1.5 GHz. Take some time and search the dev threads about this. It's a pretty big misconception regarding the 4460. Not all 4460's are in fact the same (apparently). Did Samsung/Google underclock these chips? Slightly, but as you will see, these chips will not in fact (generally) hit clockrates higher than 1.4 GHz. The general thought is that there is an issue with the clock generator for 1.5 GHz and higher, which causes the problem.
The GN for Sprint will have the same problems, and will probably be a PR nightmare now.....especially when users find out that their GN only runs at 1.2 GHz.
Sprint version probably has different SoC.

Does anyone have any idea what the DAC of the model with the S4 Pro is seeing as the new Nexus device will more than likely have the same DAC?

I would like to know about this as well
What if it's a Wolfson chip?
what a coincidence.. I've been wondering about this myself.
I sincerely hope it's Wolfson. Although I'm not horribly familiar with DAC's, Wolfson has done my captivate right.
Qualcomm's SOCs use custom DACs made by Qualcomm (the Exynos Galaxy S III had a Wolfson, but the S4 one was Qualcomm made). Apparently, it is pretty decent though http://www.androidpolice.com/2012/0...ne-x-isnt-amazing-at-all-even-by-the-numbers/
Supposedly the Qualcomm one is just as good as Wolfson DACs though.

Maybe so but then will not be voodoo sound compatible. Supercurio only working with Wolfson chips.

He said he was gonna try to get voodoo for the s4 gs3. There's no technical reason that voodoo can't work on qualcomm chips. Supercurio is just more familiar with wolfson.

Don't think it is high priority

I think it's the same Qualcomm WCD9310 that is in US Galaxy S III, Nexus 4, etc. Specs are here:

Perhaps if there was a bounty for him to get an optimus, he would work on it. Maybe we should ask if he'd be into that.

Would not be optimistic (no pun)--I am going with a Note II, coming from a NS4G

Nope, there is no FM transmitter in the S4.
You must have been playing around with some of the old Nokia phones
with the symbian operating system to ask a question like that.
Lmao

I don't know of any Android devices that have a *working* transmitter (and all hardware on which it would depend), however, many have a tuner. The Galaxy S4 is not among those with a tuner though; Samsung feels most of the target market for the Galaxy S4 prefers digital brodcasting.

Has Voodoo been released for this?
Never used Yamaha, but will jump on voodoo if it's out for our phones now. used it on my S1 (Fascinate), and love it too much.

Voodoo doesn't work on the GS4. I have the Voodoo Sounds Plus I purchased for another device. Try installing on the GS4 and got "incompatible" message.

That's what I thought. I'm secretly hoping it gets released, but.. not holding my breath.
it wont work on the quad core snapdragon s4 because it doesnt have the right hardware for voodoo only samsung made processors have it
Wolson vs yamaha I beleive does say is a board right and voosoo is just a dsp

Damn. I still carry around my Fascinate (Galaxy S1) because it sounds better than my S4. Was hoping that would be a temporary situation, but apparently not.
The sound quality on Note 10.1 kinda caught me off guard, coming from Note 3, in a good way! I know the Note 3's got Qualcomm's chip, but what about our Note? Can't seem to find any info on this...

It'll most definitely be a Wolfson. No idea which exact one though.
All the Exynos chips have had Wolfson chips (except for the one in the S2).
Hi!
Is there any confirmation about the DAC in the LTE version? Is it a Wolfson?
