[Q] Temp Root - T-Mobile HTC One (M8)

Is this possible. I was s-off and rooted before the previous update. I had to RUU in order to get the update. I've been running stock since. Is there a way to get do a temp root so that I can install the Harmon kardon hack? Or do I have to root and then swap out the stock recovery. Thank you.
Forgot to mention that I had to lock the bootloader.

[Q] Unroot Via Update???

I rooted my Htc Evo 4G in late October with unrevoked3 so that i could use wifi tether, but i do not use it so i want to unroot my phone. Can I update the phone with the new update from htc (3.7 etc..) to unroot my phone? If not is there a way to unroot my phone without losing my apps?
Generally yes, if you apply the OTA update you should be unrooted. But you said you used unrevoked (assuming the one click 3.21 method) to root, so you are NAND unlocked (S-OFF) . If you want to get back to S-ON, you will need to download and flash the unrevoked-forever-son.zip file and then try to apply the OTA update. Otherwise you will need to download and run the official RUU to unroot.

[Q] Unroot using 3.70 update

Hello I used Unrevoked 3.21 to root my evo. It flashed the Unrevoked Forever so i was S-OFF. I have already flashed the S-ON tool and I can confirm that I am S-ON. I want to become unrooted. Can I use the latest OTA (3.70) to become unrooted? I tried the "Unrooted in two steps method using the PC36IMG" but when I reboot into Recovery it checks the image and says that the image is wrong. Basically I wanted to know if I could unroot by installing the latest OTA. By the way I am not running any custom firmware, I am using the Htc Evo 4g Froyo update and my hardware version is 003. By the way if I can use the latest OTA can someone provide me with a link to the latest OTA. Thanks
If you're already s-off then you should be able too. Manually check for updates to download. If nothing shows up I'll find you a link.

[Q] help! Lost root on my DHD. How to get it back?

hi,
i have a dhd which was already rooted and had a custom rom installed, i installed couple more roms and then finally decided to go back to stock.
i searched XDA and downloaded stock firmware from this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1731324
installed it and it went smooth, i am now running android 2.3.5 stock rom.
BUT I ALSO LOST MY ROOT ACCESS.
I AM STILL S-OFF, DONT KNOW IF BOOTLOADER IS LOCKED OR UNLOCKED.
SO HOW CAN I GET ROOT IN STOCK ROM?
PLEASE HELP WHAT TO DO.
and i have searched and have only got AAHK to root DHD which i cannot use as it is not available anymore.
PLEASE HELP
Fastboot flash a recovery, then recovery flash a superuser zip. If you run a RUU, of course you will lose root.

Can't modify system in Skydragon gpe 5.0 rom

Hey! I've got an m8 running firmware 3.35.720.1 (4.4.4) with the latest skydragon gpe l ROM on. It works perfect, but I can't install viper4android or adaway, as the changes get lost after a reboot. The ROM supposedly has system r/w and others have installed v4a successfully, but it isn't working here. Any clues? No one from that thread is replying to my questions.. :/
Hmm... Sounds like you're not S-Off. S-on restores system changes back to the way it was upon boot.
Are you rooted? It was to my knowledge that root is lost as well if you're S-On and you would need to use a temp root method. So the first thing to figure out is if you're S-Off. It's easy to obtain if you're not. Follow Firewater's method. You must have ADB, I'm sorry. It's just easy that way.
Here's a link to getting S-Off. It works with the GSM version. I've used this method.

EDIT: Never mind about the root part. You can be rooted with S-On. LoL!! Whoops.

[Q] Unroot S-On HTC One M8

I planned on converting my One M8 to a GPE edition but I couldn't gain S-Off, so now I have a phone with root access and TWPR installed. In preparation for HTCs upcoming Lollipop OTA, I would Like to bring my device back to full stock so I can install the OTA. I can't seem to find a way to do this without having S-Off. Could someone help me please?
Thanks, Nathan

Will that remove my root user permissions too?
And do I need to relock the boot loader to install OTA's?
Thanks!

sakitech didn't mention anything about losing root or relock bootloader requirements to receive OTA updates after following his video.

Oh, sorry for not being clear xD
No, I don't think you will lose root and you don't have to relock bootloader afaik.
Even so.. you can always redo the process of rooting and unlock the bootloader after OTA update.. no biggie
but if you run stock rom and recovery.. it shouldnt affect root or if ure unlocked with OTA updates
I just reverted back to stock last night with s-on. you will have to relock your bootloader (I used a tool kit, but had to boot into the bootloader myself to get the toolkit relock it) and flash a stock RUU (exe or zip). I suggest using an exe to flash if available. I have a sprint HK edition so I used an RUU exe for that model, and all worked perfectly. I was able to install the OTA update they just released with no problem after I was back to stock.
sakitech's method should work too if you want to try and keep root and the bootloader unlocked
