I just recently got my first s4 as an early gift coming from s2 and I just wanted to ask in general if flashing roms "generally" breaks any of the functionality of things like multiview, nfs, a beam, group play, air gesture and other factory default functions? After years of using a vibrant and the s2 I'm no stranger to flashing custom roms but do know sometimes roms break functionality (like gps) and am currently debating flashing my S4 but am currently conflicted especially after researching KNOX. So I guess I'm just asking if custom roms here are pretty reliable and don't break the stock functions.

As long as the ROM is base on the TWz firmware you will still have all those features(air gesture ect).
I have not tried all Roms but the few I have is pretty stable.
Knox counter if tripped will void your warranty, it doesn't prevent you from rooting or flashing ROM (only exception is 4.2.2) Anything 4.3+ you're good to go. When you get your S4 check the firmware, maybe if you're lucky it will still be on 4.2 mdl baseband and bootloader.

Custom ROM is simply slightly or much tweaked Stock ROM. It can contain themes or new functionality, added or removed apps etc. Most of the Custom Touchiz ROMs are pretty similar to stock ROMs and have added bits and pieces that most people would add anyway - like Xposed framework and some Xposed modules, etc, sound enhancements, Note 3 software but still look much like Stock Samsung ROM.
After 4.1.2 I flashed Criskelo (Custom TW ROM) and it is smoother than 4.1.2. I am very satisfied with this ROM, and can't understand why so many people complain about 4.3. IMHO this is the single BEST update on android I had on any device ever. 1st time I can really tell it is smoother than the previous version.
I strongly reccomend updating to 4.3, just follow all instructions and you should be fine. IMHO best ROMs are DN3, Phoenix and Criskelo. You can also try pre-rooted de-Knoxed stock ROMs, but you would loose any of the extras in these ROMs (Note 3 sw etc).
Really thanks for response ... but many says battery drains fast and fast after 4.3 update
And ram consumption very high
Could you clarify this for me and I would be thankful

Battery for me is the same as on 4.1.2. Maybe on 1st boot it is higher because if you erase everything it has to run media scanner for a long time to scan all your photos. But for me it is the same.
Don't worry about RAM consumption. I can't get it why people want to have EMPTY RAM??? What good is empty RAM, just doing nothing? If it uses more RAM, it means it is using it for something, probably caching disk, processes, apps.... Everything works just fine, Android manages RAM by itself. If it all works fine, why should I care how much RAM there is? Also it depends on your apps more than anything. I have like 290 USER apps, together with system apps it is like 510. And NEVER have I noticed any problems... so just forget about RAM, Android manages everything automatically, and our device has a lots of RAM. Even with TSF shell running which is huge, all is fluid and no apps have problems.

If you flash ROM from Sammobile, you will be Knox-locked. You will have Knox and you can never again downgrade to 4.1.2. And if you root, you will loose your warranty and will never be able to use Knox again. Knox is preventing you from flashing anything without triggering Knox counter to 0x1.
If you do flash UAE ROM from Sam mobile, you don't have to flash anything else, bootloader and modem are included.
But I'd suggest flashing de-Knoxed ROM, so you can later (if you want) install any custom ROM, downgrade, etc.
If you want custom ROMs, I'd suggest Phoenix, DM3 or Criskelo.

Thanks a lot dear

Hello there,
I'm new to this forum, also i'm totally new to 'rooting'.
I want to root my Samsung Galaxy Note 2 (GT-N7105, 4.3 jelly)
I've searched around the web for quite some time now. I've read http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1933542, but i still have a question about it.
My phone:
Samsung Galaxy Note 2 4G
Modelnummer: GT-7105
Android-version 4.3
Baseband-version N7105XXUEMK2
In the topic of Chainfire's post of the CF-Auto-Root says GT-7105 is suitable for the CF-Auto-Root. But i'm still unsure about the Baseband-version, does the baseband-version matter?, if not is my phone then suitable for the CF-Auto Root?
(Why am i unsure about the Baseband-version; well that is because if i search on the web "GT-N7105 how to root", i find many with different baseband-versions so thats why it made me make this thread, sorry if it was a totaly useless thread and if the answer was 100% clear. But i kinda wanted to be sure before i start following the steps of CF-Auto-Root)
Hope any of you can help me with that question.
Bump
I think baseband version doesn't matter, but CF-auto root won't work anyway as there's Knox and it will block the superuser app.
Best if You change kernel (with CWM) and flash some knox free ROM.

Dylanaw,
If it helps, I flashed my GT-7105 a number of times this week to overcome an issue with my email and a poxy security feature (in the loosest of terms). Whilst I have zero affinity to one ROM or another I have eventually settled on the OMNI 4.4 ROM that you will find on the front page of the GT-7105 development page. Why? Easy really, as it is the clearest ROM in terms of steps to take and what to do :good: especially for newbs. So, if you really want to install a custom ROM then this is a good one to start with! Regards the baseband question, on this ROM my machine is displaying a baseband-version of N7105XXUMJ9.
I hope this helps.

Hi Developers and All the Community...
Any known when we root the MK2 with SafeRoot and install TeamWin Recovery.
●When installed a Custom Rom the Knox Avoid Warranty?
●And when we return to the option StockRom, Knox Avoid Warranty again?
●Every time when we return to StockRom Knox start counting again?
I wish this could help as many people like me personally, because I have not found information to answer these questions.

Thanks for ur reply
I want to say that i used android v4.2.2 and i want to root it.
As we know that rooting process has recovery steps (flash with some file)and these steps does effect my battery and performance or not as i dont want to modify it(performance and battery consumption).
I want the rooting method which does not effect my battery and performance. Or which has least effect on it.
One mor thing my rom has knox but my phone is not in warranty so not to worry about warranty void but dont know about other knox related problem.
my device info
S4 mini android v4.2.2 DDU1BML1 indian
One more question indian version has two type of firmware one is DDU1BML1 (latest android version 4.2.2-csc>ins)and other Is DDU...... i forget the whole code and its has latest android verion is 4.4.2 csc>inu can i flash 4.4.2 in my phone or not.
