Hey guys,
I've had my Moto 360 since Sunday evening and have been getting to grips with the device for the past few days.. I have one big problem though :/ Before buying the watch I saw EVERY review there was to see and read EVERY article there was to read to have the widest opinion about it since I would have to order it without seeing it in person. I decided to pull the trigger and buy it... It was a bit smaller and taller than I initially thought, but I like Android Wear, don't mind the lag (even though I do notice it) but the battery has shocked me a bit tbh. Everyone said that a full 12 hour day with ambient mode off is no problem and after the update it should be even better. I don't get nearly at all this batterylife. I took it off the charger today at 7:15, haven't used it as much as I wanted to at all just to see if the batterylife is acceptable and now at 4:25 ( a bit over 7 hours later) I'm at 21%. I even formated the battery prior to this( drained it completely and charged it up completely 3 times) and will do again today. I reseted the watch AND my phone yesterday so I can't tell if it helped or not. I am running software version 4.4W.1 build number KGW42R. Any ideas ? I only installed pixtocam. :crying: What are your findings with the batterylife? Thnx
Edit: added build number
Oh and two last things: 1. Have been using with my Galaxy Nexus two days and since then with my Sony Z1 and 2. the watch takes longer to charge aswell I've noticed It takes cca 1 hour and 25 minutes to get to 100%
LAST EDIT: Down 14% in an hour and about 20 minutes.
I've been getting literally about 24 hours on one charge with the minimal watch face, and no ambient light (auto dimming on) there seems to be a correlation between watch faces and battery life. A basic face gives you more life compared to a face with many dials and info. This was only achieved after the last update. Before that I was getting about 13 hours.

I am getting awesome battery life out of my unit. It's currently been off the charger for 19 1/2 hours and I'm at 57%. I'm also on the same build/software version as you
I get close to 30hrs with ambient off and 15 with ambient on. I'm thinking you might want to exchange for a different one. Unless its pixtocam. Did you reset the device and install no apps for a few days?
I've only had it since Sunday so I'm going to try that today and see what I get :/ But replacing it would be a real pain I'm the a** since I'm studying abroad

Wow. I got about 8 hours of use yesterday. I like the "simple" watch face. Does anyone have any battery issues with that one ?
Sent from my C6903 using XDA Free mobile app
I just can't see that EVER happening on my unit.... I got rid of all the apps and everything and after half an hour (which consisted of me swiping away all my cards once and checking the time like six times) and I'm down to

Wow. I just don't see that EVER happening with my unit. I uninstalled all the apps and everything, have ysed the watch like 6 times to check the time and have dropped 6% in half an hour!!! Am totally lost, this is no where near what I hoped for

Not pleased with 9 hour battery life
Ok, there is much variation here. I've had this for 3 days, charged to 100%...and after a 30 min commute, I'm at 75%.
I ride a motorcycle...is it possible the fitness sensor is going crazy? I had 3800 steps regsitered.
So today I turned the watch OFF and only turned it on after getting to work. It was charged to 100% before I left and it was 97% after 30 minutes...OFF! Today, after 9 hours I was down to 18% battery...I swiped maybe 10 cards, and checked the time maybe 20 times all day...no apps have been loaded other than default setup. It's build #KGW42R, ambient screen is OFF, watch face is MINIMAL.
I basically have to turn it off in the afternoon at work, otherwise it will go to 0%. I'm online now to find a charger I can keep at work.
Was expecting better...
Yeah man that sounds exactly like my situation! Apart from the fact I don't ride a bike lol Anyway I'm down 6% in an hour and a few minutes with basically zero use and about 10 time checks :/ it dies after about 8 and a half hours Thus being miles away from " all day battery life"

Well at least your in a usable range now. But your still off. I just got 18 hours with ambient on with 5% left. Did you try no auto brightness. I usually keep mine on 2.
No I haven't tried that yet, but I want to try it tomorrow do you think it will help allot ?

Auto-brightness kills battery?
I dunno... It would seem a bit counterproductive if u ask me....
Sent from my C6903 using XDA Free mobile app
I can't imagine that the CPU cycles it takes to bring the display backlight to an appropriate level is anything worth mentioning. However, I'll test it out
Yeah that would be great thanks! I've actually just noticed something though... I didn't install the Moto Connect app today and have gotten better battery life. I installed it about half an hour ago and since then have dropped at least 6%... Wat up with that? Anyone else notice this?
Sent from my C6903 using XDA Free mobile app
Fixing the brightness at 1 got me around 18 hours. Pitiful
I'll try disabling motoconnect tomorrow and then checking.
Since I'm rooted, I'm also going to check the better life with the hrm disabled

Out of interest, how many times have you charged your phone (0%-100%)?
Never drained it to zero and started using it right away without charging it. Its been charged to 100 twice already. My uptime is 73 hours and that's exactly how long I've had the phone.

Honest question, how many times are you more than 12 hours from sleeping or relaxing in your house?
12 hours is more than adequate for a normal user
This is mine after a fresh wipe and no apps installed. Just thought i`d see how it did with normal use.
Here's mine; at a point the phone got itself shut down for some reason, and I couldnt get it restarted at that moment, so I left it like that, and when I could turn it back on, it was quite warm around the camera unit, and also the battery was pretty much drained - thats what you can also see on the screenshot at the "20minutes" part of t he scale. After I've removed the battery and put it back, the phone was working for quite a while again, like 12 more hours.
I'm sure auto brightness helps as it keeps screen dim but during my use it was brighter especially outdoors. My whole point is there is no secret, you should use the phone as you would like it. One thing I could have done I'm sure to improve battery life is turn off wifi and bt when they weren't in use and possibly not have as many apps running but then what's the point in having the phone?: D

I get around 11-13 hours. Not too impressed. My iPhone 4S gets 20 easily. I'm really conservative on my Nexus too because doing anything intensive (games, video recording, youtube etc) really rapes the battery. I'm guessing some of you turn off auto sync or something.

I was able to do that last night but honestly not a big deal plugging it in.
It's simple really - the more you use the phone the worse battery life is but that's because you used the phone more! I never use the phone LESS just for battery life because then you're doing yourself and the phone injustice.
43% - 14h.. screen taking up 48%
from what I can see, apart from the screen, the biggest battery hog is wifi/3g

So JuiceDefender works fine for you? I just read that alot of users had problems with ICS and JD. Would be great if it worked though!
Here's mine. Since I was at work all day I only got time to play Dillo Hills for about 20 mins but I've found the battery is REALLY good after flashing the Android Revolution ROM. MoDaCo causes too much drain IMHO.
Battery life isn't too bad on mine. I got mine on the 10th and I used it right out of the box. Battery life wasn't that great until I did a charge to 100%. The OTA update didn't change much for me in regards to battery. Currently at 21h uptime and I'm at 32%.

Mine's absolutely horrid, I can't for the life of me figure out what the hell's wrong with it. I'll run out of battery after about 12 hours, with the screen time at 1 hour and maybe 30 minutes if I'm lucky? The phone drinks away my battery in standby mode like a former alcoholic united with an opened beer. When I was on ICS, turning off 4G every time the screen was off with the AutomateIt app would give me excellent battery life. Ever since Jelly Bean, it doesn't seem to make a difference. I just don't even bother using AutomateIt anymore, I even uninstalled it. Useless. I check marked the option, "Restrict Background Data," but I actually had worse results with that on even. Following the thread about the Guide to good battery life, I turned off auto-sync. The only thing that seems to do for me is not get my emails in real time. No effect on the battery though. I'm guessing the battery drain has something to do with being on data (even though turning it off doesn't seem to do much) because everytime I go to school where there's little WiFi, battery's worse. Also, somehow my Messaging app takes up more battery than the screen. What's with that? I'll text every now and then, but it shouldn't eat away my battery like a fat man with the last batch of Twinkies. Enough with the dumb similes, haha, but I actually need help with this. I really don't wanna buy a battery off eBay cause the damn people are too lazy to send you the battery until a month passes, and I hate charging in the middle of the day.
I'm on 100% stock. I used to root and mess around with a ton of ROMs, but then I realized all my favourite ROMs were the ones closest to stock...
.... look at the eBay expected arrival and/or look for a seller in the USA ?
Anyway, that bit aside - have you installed something like BetterBatteryStats to be able to see what the problem is so you can fix it ?

5 hours... how !?
Easy !
I'm on stock and if I'm almost all the day on WIFI, not playing too much games, and with auto-brightness,
I can get 5 to 6 hours screen time.
(but on 4G all the day, it's more around 3 hours screen time)
This is what most people get with normal use around 14 to 16 hours and 4 to 5 hours screen time. I think the biggest issue is that 4G radio that most people have on all the time. I I have wifi everywhere so most of the time I have mine off that helps a ton. Plus all the sync stuff off, I get about 6 hours over 17 hours battery life and about 30 to 40% brightness.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
14-16 is what was normal for me when I first got my GS3 (after JB update). If you want more battery life, I recommend trying juice defender (custom settings for data off while locked). If you have stretches where you don't use your phone it works really well. Just thought I would throw that out there.

What sort of battery life are you all seeing with this years note? come from the ipad 3 where i usually saw 10-11 hours screen time and 2-3d standby, today is the first time ive had it from 100% and i only lasted 6 hours screentime with 7 hours overall on time, i still havent run it down completely yet but surely i should be getting more than this?
Its such a shame because i love it so much, but i cant deal with this short battery life

I came from an ipad 3 as well and had the same problem until I disabled several apps, turned off GPS, etc and over the long weekend I was getting ~12 hours of web surfing.
I haven't rooted yet so that should be a number that can improve. I'm sorta trying to wait for a root that doesn't trip knox. I don't want a custom rom so no reason to install a bootloader and lose my warranty if I can be patient. Tried Cydia Impactor but I had already upgraded to MK1. I'm wondering if the shipping rom (P600XXUAMIE) might have the 4.3 vulnerabilities unpatched.

I thought it was more, but looking at the list.. go to settings, General, Application Manager, select the prinstalled apps you don't want running all the time and click Turn Off. I've turned off BlurbCheckout, Businessweek+, NYTimes, Polaris Office, Screen Saver and Twitter. I think more important was turning off GPS, Screen Rotation, Bluetooth, Reading Mode, Smart Stay, Smart Pause, Smart Scroll, Auto Brightness then adjusting the screen brightness to something a bit less retina searing than the default.

I've had mine since Saturday soooo, 5 days now. I get easily 10-11 hours of screen time. I loose about 1% per 8-9 hours in stand by and i loose about 9% per hour of video streaming from either my Netflix, HBO GO, or Slingbox account and that's with brightness about or just above 50%. I'm also NOT rooted yet. Totally stock with just certain apps turned off and i restrict a lot of the background data on individual apps that i don't need running background data
Have you guys try using this damn thing at 100% while indoors? It hurts the eyes with a white screen.

Hmm, I think I misspoke about the background data on this tablet. I do that religious with my phones (Bionic, GS4) but I went to look at what i did and there is no option to turn off background data. I would normally go to settings>data usage and tap whatever app and the check "restrict background data". I must have thought I did that on this tablet but obviously not.
i think the battery life is great on my tablet - i dont game with it - today it has been running for 13 hours 48 minutes with 5 hours and 48 minutes of screen on time and battery is at 52% - not rooted yet - i have everything i dont use turned off ( ie. smart stay/scroll, air view ) and running nova laucher prime and dont use power savings mode

I dunno, doing pretty good over here. Rooted, but have no froze anything. Only rooted to get gameCIH installed screen is between 25% and 50% brightness depending on what im doing or where i am. I mostly just use it for playing a few games here and there, taking notes during lectures.. etc. This is about typical, sometimes I get a little less, screen brightness seems to play a huge role in battery drain (obviously) but ive never run it dead during the day.. ever. I start every day with 100% charge and dont usually plug it in till I go to bed. If I have a charger around and im not doing anything ill plug it in (I mean.. why not) but I don't ever have to "worry" about it going dead on me.
I'm currently on 9 hours of battery time, probably at least 4-5 hours of that is screen on time reading comics or doing sketchbook pro pictures.
Battery is on 46%.
So yeh, battery is fine. Brightness is about 30%.

Right... It's better then an IPad. I doubt the IPads beat 11-12 hours of screen time at roughly 50% brightness and an IPad has a smaller screen and less pixels to power.

Hi all, I just bought this tablet, I have not turn it on yet...
Do I have to charge the device fully before turning on like some cell phones are?! or I can just start using it right away?!
and what kind of battery it does?! how's the charging process?! should I wait for it to be fully discharged, and then charge it to 100 percent?! or should I keep it between 40 to 80 percent to save the battery life...
in a nut shell, if you have any forum or link or information that could help, please share

Dude, just turn it on and use it. The days of cycling a batter (let it drain and then charge to full) were over in the 90's with Ni-Cad batteries.. these do not develop a memory. From dead, the tab will take 5-6 hours to charge with supplied charger and in the wall. Using it while charging will still cause it to lose battery but a a much slower rate.
Got my ZenWatch yesterday and charged it up and used it all day today.. but after just 13 hours - the battery was down to 5%. Most of the reviews I've read suggest 24-36 hours of use.
Anyone else finding the batteries are a little light?
Give the battery a bit of time to settle in. And plus your using the watch a bit more intensively than designed for.
I would be very interested how you'll go after a few days, and a few charge cycles.

The reviews are definitely biased. Mine dropped 50% in only 4 hrs with brightness sett to minimum. Totally dissatisfied with this watch. The performance doesn't even come close to matching the looks.
my wife takes it off the charger at 7:30. When I looked last night around 12:00, it still had 35%. She has it always-on and I think brightness at 3...
I did notice that it seem to disconnect from her phone at a shorter distance than my moto would. Both watches connected to note 4s.
Here is something to think about. I had the moto 360 and returned it primarily do to battery life. Had it for two weeks and hoped it would get better but I would take it off the charger at 530 am and it would be dead before 5 pm sometimes even early afternoon. I got this watch set it up and charged it over night. Took it off the charger at 530 and it was dead by noon the first day. Second took it off the charger at 530 and it lasted until 5. I was thinking I would have to return it but yesterday I took it off at 530 am and at 11 pm it still had 13%. I have been going always on, brightness at 2 or 3. I get a ton of email and text. What I'm saying is maybe it's too early to tell....I got two full days with the gear neo but it just wasn't as cool.
The battery life is excellent here.
One of the review says the battery is horrible if you have "unlock my phone" feature checked on Zenwatch manager. So try to deactivate that feature and try it.
The battery life on my Zenwatch is excellent. I am confident that it will last me the whole day even with active use.
Usually there may be some 3rd party apps that can drain the battery, such as incompatible watch Face.
Couldn't be happier with the battery life! Getting through a full 12-16 hour day with plenty to spare.
Seems like the better battery life is holding up. Took it off the charger at 530 and it is now 10 and I still have 18%.....haven't changed my habits. Won't last even close to two days. But one full day is acceptable.

Definitely, in fact, I removed all the Wear apps from my phone because Wellness was killing my phone's performance, then when I noticed the Watch still thought it was using Wellness, I factory reset the watch and reinstalled just a few apps and left things like 'unlock my phone' off... and it's doing better today.
Thanks everyone for the input.
Keep us updated
I'm waiting for it to be released in Australia.. getting impatient.

I unplugged my watch at 6:30 yesterday morning. At 7:30 pm it still had 63% left. I don't bother with any type of wellness app, at all. I don't bother with any type of 'find my phone' or 'find my watch' or phone unlocking app. I don't use the always on feature, but keep brightness on 3 due to being outside quite often. I use the watch strictly for notifications, and replying to Hangouts messages via the voice input. I have 3 weather locations set in Google Now that all show on my watch, and I play Words With Friends with a dozen different people. Between all that, plus emails, texts and calls I get 100s of notifications throughout each day. To have 63% left at the end of the workday is very acceptable. I could easily go out after work till the wee hours of the morning without any worry of the battery giving out before I do.
Mine goes all day and evening with plenty of juice to spare. I have taken no measures to preserve the battery. I use it to unlock my moto x as well. No issues with battery life that I have seen after 3 days of using the watch.
After the first day of crappie battery life. I am getting a good 18 hours. I'm not doing anything either to preserve battery life. It is WAY better than my moto 360 experience. I usually only have 10 to 13 % left when I put it on the charger but I would charge every night anyway.
It's been good for me... I've been using it with the display always on plus one or more watch faces with weather. Gets me about 16 hours or so. I've been using turn by turn navigation plus media control quite a bit. I've also spent an hour or more playing with facer watch faces.

My watch has now been off the charger for a little over ten hours and I still have 63% battery life left. Holy crap! Best battery life yet, by far, since I've had the watch. Guess it takes about a week to settle in. Couldn't be happier.
Update: It's now been about 13 hours off the charger, and my watch just hit 50%... Starting to think this 2 day battery life claim holds water... Very happy right now!
Much improved now... 14.5 hrs on constantly and I'm at 52%.. which means it should be good for another 14.5 hrs which is 29 hours total run time.
I only need 18 so getting 29 is more than excellent!
I think the battery "guestimate" needs a short while to settle in with such a small battery. The first couple days I actually saw my battery percentage go *up* 3-5% between checking it. When it's saying it's low the first few days you have it, it likely actually isn't.
One last note - as has been mentioned before - some apps can really just suck the watch's battery dry, even apps that seem like they shouldn't. I hope Goog gets a handle on this because there's no really good way that I can see to know in advance other than installing and checking battery use over a day.

Can anyone post anything they have done differently to get the better life. I'm getting close to 2 weeks with it, have seen it get better after it "settled in", but I'm still trying to get a little better. I can make it through the day, but usually only barely and I'm over the constantly fiddling with it part of ownership. I get maybe 50-60 notifications a day. I've tried uninstalling apps, trying to stick with stock watchfaces, it's really hard to tell.
I'm really looking forward to the next update so that I can see what apps are using the battery. I tried the Wear Battery App, but someone suggested they thought it was draining the battery itself. Just seeing if there is a consensus on what works and what doesn't. I have removed almost all the ASUS apps, the unlock one really helped a lot. Thanks.

I have no such problem but a co-worker was having terrible drain and he uninstalled the Asus Zenwatch manager itself and it fixed his problem. Best advice I can give is to uninstall all the apps other than the android wear app, and maybe even kill it just to see what happens, and then slowly add them back in.
For comparison, I took mine off the charger at 7am this morning so after 12 hours I'm at 55%. I dim the display but don't turn it off. I'm using a nice face from the Intellicom app and I probably get several hundred notifications over the course of the day. I'm more than happy with this device.
Anyone got the replacement note 7 notice anything different in battery life with the upgraded fire proof battery?
i got one last night and cant tell any difference yet. it last just like my s7 edge did
it will probably take a few days for the battery to normalize after day to day usage before anyone can really report on it.
Getting poor life at moment, gsam showing deep sleep 0%. Install same apps as on old one not sure what's happening yet.

It took me a couple days before I actually got good battery life. Needs to set in, what I recommend doing is fully charge it and let it get down to in-between 1 and 5 percent before charging again. Don't do any in-between charging, at least that's what works for me.
My explodey Note 7 didn't get bad battery life at all. I couldn't complain one bit and was happy with it. This new Note 7 though... I think I got a real winner. It's less than 24 hours after switching and by this time of day I'm used to seeing the battery at about 62% give or take, but I'm at 84%. I'm sure it's placebo but I also feel this Note is just the tiny bit smoother and less laggy in the UI. Again, I had zero complaints about my first one so I suspect there's going to be sample variances across all spectrums with this.
Got rid of my voip app zoiper now got 49% cpu deep in gsam . So looks like bad apps.

Left phone on standby overnight from 100% . After 7hr 29m down to 90%. Wifi and 4g on, auto sync off and do not disturb on.
Other people have been reporting 0.5%, any suggestions?

Need a week or so. My blowy Note 7 had exceptional battery life after a bit of usage.
My replacement straight out of the box , charged to 100% and have had awesome battery life. Last night I was at 6hrs 20 mins of on screen time. And had 25% left. And my phone not 1 time got hot. I think this one is a keeper

Do you have many apps installed?

I've been getting 3-4 hours of SOT, which is about the same as my 6P was getting. This one is a lot better than my previous one though was barely hitting 3.

I got a new Note 7 on Wednesday, and my battery life is only so so, I'm sure it still has to break in.

I can attest to the battery not getting hot often like it used to before.... I have like 60 apps installed, and normal use before would have my note7 burning hot. Now.... Not so much! [emoji1]

This is the only difference I've noticed so far.

Lol By the way, that nuclear explosion was from the Castle Bravo test, it had a yield of 15 Megatons, much higher that they had anticipated.

This. Exactly my experience too. The replacement phone battery is a bit better (36 hours to go from 100% to 1% with moderate use, no gaming), phone doesn't seem laggy, and most important it does not get as warm as the old one did.
Got my overnight standby drain down to 0.7%/hr from 1.4% uninstalled bbc news and amazon shopping apps.

like another poster said, my first one was great but something about this new one is even better. it doesn't get hot and i can tell there's a significant difference in battery life. it's seemingly lasting much longer than the first
