Hi! I own the p5210 (Wi-Fi only), and I was trying to install Restl3ss's 4.4.2 ROM, the rooted+deodexed one. My device runs CWM recovery, which I use to flash the ROM.
I have tried two different ways, but none of them have succeeded:
1- Putting the ROM in the external SD card doesn't work, because I get the error "can't mount sdcard". I tried formatting the Micro SD again and trying it again, but I get the same error.
2- Since I didn't know what to do, I decided to try with installing through sideload. I enabled USB debugging, installed the ADB drivers (I also have the samsung drivers installed too) but the process doesn't start when I type "adb sideload [ROM name].zip. When I plug the device, it tries to find drivers for a "Full Android on Emulator".
Could someone please help me? Is there a way to install this same ROM through Odin? I could also install a pure stock one from SamMobile, but I heard that there's still no rooting this device on KitKat...
I just found this thread by LegendSmoker: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-3/general/guide-recovery-root-p5210-4-4-2-t2848771
I'll try that now, with the Canadian 4.4.2 stock ROM. I'll post the results when I'm done!
Okay, all done! No problems with that method! The thread can be closed now! (or removed, it really doesn't have relevant info...)

So, basically, I've done a stupid thing, I attempted to install Cyanogen, forgetting to enable USB debugging, and it didn't go too well, all I can do now is use Clockwork Recovery as there is no ROM on the phone, I'm not sure if there's anyway I can enable USB debugging and flash it via USB, with Odin, but whenever I try to flash via .zip through Clockworkmod Recovery I either get the status 7 error, or if I take steps to get rid of that the installation just aborts, any ideas on what I can do?
There is also a possiblity I installed Clockwork Recovery for the 3G edition, whereas I have the LTE edition of the phone, I'm not sure if that'll have contributed to the downfall of my smartphone adventures
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

hi,
first of all, dont worry for that. its not really a brick.
reboot your device to download mode (press vol-down, home and power buttons)
install philz_touch_5.18.2-i9195.tar.md5 - 7.08 MB via odin and restart to your phone to philz recovery. (press vol-up, home and power button, if you see samsung logo release power button)
then install cm rom and reboot. if you dont have any rom file in your storage, then copy rom zip file to your external sdcard via your pc and put external card again to your phone and reboot recovery and try install your rom from external card. this recovery is for lte variant of s4 mini.
i hope you get your phone working again and tell me if it works
I can't use Odin to detect my phone, it just doesn't show up :c
There is another solution.
first - get philz recovery zip file for lte variant and extract it. (get it here http://d-h.st/qdn) open updater-script and remove this code and save file.(that installer will not stop because your device is show him you have 3g variant but you have lte one so simply remove this code and save file to your zip)
assert(getprop("ro.product.device") == "serranolte"
|| getprop("ro.build.product") == "serranolte");
make zip file and copy it to your sdk folder and install it via adb sideload. (google it when you dont know how to install with sideload)
after this you should have right recovery.
then install your rom with sideload and reboot.
Yeah, that did fix it, I now however have the issue of my Wifi won't turn on and I cannot install things as it states that there isn't enough storage space available, which there is, there is also 4.62 Gb used in my Misc files and nothing is listed as even close to that size, so my phone isn't particularly better off ¬.¬ But thanks for your help
Got all of the problems sorted now, for the storage space thing, I had to remove my external SD card and just go on a formatting blitz after reinstalling Clockworkmod and the wifi required a modded kernel to be installed
Hi can someone help me, I have the same issue as Tobiscuits. The link no longer worked but I managed to get the file needed for recovery Odin doesn't see my phone so I can't recover to stock that way I'm guessing USB debugging is off I'm stuck on the Odin mode screen everytime my phone starts. I'm new to this what do I do with the recovery zip I have, it's on my pc atm

Have you installed latest Samsung drivers? Or try reinstall/update them, from Samsung website?
(in the past some people had to uninstall the Samsung sync software & it's drivers first if it had already been installed on PC, ie smartswitch/kies)
You must reboot PC between each operation above & check Samsung drivers uninstalled in program list (assuming Windows). Reboot after install as well.
Update to TWRP after fixed.

Hi thanks for replying, yes I installed Samsung usb drivers still doesn't recognise my device, I do have the same phone again and that works but that phone doesn't recognise on Odin or pc either maybe it's a cable issue or USB driver issue like you said. I'm pretty new to all this but TWRP is the recovery zip right? When I try factory reset it goes through the motions then nothing happens goes back to Odin mode automatically.i should mention I uninstalled magisk before my phone decided to not boot back up I'm guessing I uninstalled it wrong. I'll try uninstalling the Samsung drivers and reinstalling.
Updated the damn thing to kitkat and lost write access to my sd card. Learnt that the only way to fix this problem is by rooting it but all existing information for rooting is for other variants or for those that are still running 4.2.2. Tried all the available methods for T211 and T217 and they seem to be incompatible. I am unable to get into the TWRP recovery to install it after pushing it to my device using ODIN. It gets stuck at "booting recovery". Please help.

i've forgotten how i rooted my sm-t215 kitkat. If i'm not wrong, you only need to install/flash only the CWM recovery into your phone, and once you've successfully install/flash CWM recovery, go into recovery and choose reboot now. there will be an option for you to install superuser. choose that and your phone will be auto rooted.
here is the link.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2674649
do it at your own risk, i won't be responsible for anything in case something goes wrong as this only based on my memory.
GOOD LUCK
Can you find any solution for that. I also have SM-T215 and can't root it after update 4.4.2

If you have PC follow these:
Try to download "kingo android" in your pc
Make sure you have the right drivers for your phone
then connect your device to pc via USB cable
open kingo android and start
If you dont have a pc and you have recovery mode in your device follow these:
search this: root (your device name) .zip file
and if you are successful put that zip file on root folder(the folder you see when you open your built-in file manager)
switch your phone to recovery mode
volume up, volume down, and menu button are the controls
navigate it to "apply update from sd card"
then choose your the zip file
If you dont have a pc and dont have a recovery mode follow these:
download "framaroot" "rootmaster" all apk
Hope it helps
Hello everybody,
Here my problem :
I tried to install a custom rom, I failed. Now, my smartphone stay on the Asus logo screen. I tried to follow this - http://forum.xda-developers.com/zenfone2/general/guide-to-apply-ota-bootloop-rooted-zf2-t3127835 - to fix the problem, but when I connect phone and laptop, adb doesn't find the device.
If I continue and go in recovery mode (using TWRP), laptop can access the phone (I can see internal memory but not external).
And if I try the ADB sideload, there is no device again...
It's the first step, I don't see any other way to unbrick the phone...
Thanks in advance
http://forum.xda-developers.com/zenfone2/general/guide-brick-soft-hard-bricked-zenfone-2-t3284256 be lucky your phone is recognized
Hello,
Frist, thank you for your answer. I had already tried this way but nothing. Finally, I fixed the problems (detect phone and unbrick phone).
1-In TWRP, I loaded recovery.img, boot.img and droidboot.img. Reboot in recovery mod, but I had the dead droid... so I pushed on power and volume up till I have a new screen.
2-In this part, I did a Wipe/Factory reset (useless I think), reboot in recovery mode (still dead droid). This time I selected the line "update with adb" (with an ASUS firmware). Then I had a message who told me update adb sideload. I did it and it installed the firmware. The smartphone reboot correctly.
Now, I have the same problem I had yesterday. In TWRP, my external storage isn't detected...
you use stock recovery or custom recovery, if you use stock recovery external-storage won't detected
Hello,
Thank you Bar4, I explained above how I fixed my problems. Now I'm searching a way to make TWRP (TWRP 3.0) detect my external storage to install Cyanogenmod 13.0. If it's really not possible, I would try with CWM (I have seen it in your screen).
Edit : I guess custom, TWRP. It's why I don't understand why it doesn't allow me to mount SD card or doesn't detect this same SD Card.

i use twrp 3.0 too, but external sd detected. no need to put on external storage, you can flash Cm 13 through internal storage
if you want to install custom rom it's better if you make a backup first, so if happen you failed when installing new rom or maybe you don't like it (new rom) you can go back to stock rom through TWRP restore
Ok, failed again...
Try a different rom or redownload the rom it might have been a bad download.
The error message says there is no updater script in the zip meaning it can't install anything as the updater script tells what directories to install the files if I seen it correctly that is.

maybe the CM 13 zip file you have download corrupted, try to re-download and re-flash it again. if still failed try another rom
( i'm using AICP Rom "based on CM 13 too") try it, it's awesome Rom ---> do clean install wipe all except internal storage and external storage

Hi,
Sorry for this late answer. As I failed to install those roms (CM13, Bliss), I'm going to stop here and wait for the Marsmallow update. But I'm happy my phone isn't brik anymore.
Thank you all.
So I have a new oneplus 3. I rooted it, installed TWRP and flashed cyanogen mod. I couldn't receive incoming calls so I figured that should factory reset using TWRP. I messed up and deleted all files, including the internal storage. My phone has no os to boot from, no backups and now it has no roms due to the wiping. It can only boot to TWRP and fastboot. It's being recognized as "google nexus adb interface" by the device manager when booted into TWRP and connected. I just need a way to transfer the files from my pc to the phone so I can flash them. Please help me. (By the way, I'm fairly new to this whole rooting and flashing experience so please keep that in mind when providing a solution)
Try flashing with an OTG adapter and a Rom on a USB stick or google "how to use adb sideload" there are youtube tutorials for both of that, used them a few days ago

This has happend to me before with my old android device.
Boot up TWRP and mount the device as MTP storage and plug the phone into your computer [Make sure you have the right drivers installed] Transfer a ROM of your choice to the device and install it like any other ROM. :good:
Hi I've been away from the aftermarket ROM game for a while and I'm having a bit of trouble installing. Can anyone link to some instructions. All i could find was the ones posted by the Lineage Team but i am unsure if they are universal instructions or if they are only for Lineage. Some assistance would be great!
So details of what I've tried thus far:
Flashing from recovery (i assume this method is pretty much legacy at this point) -
reboot to recovery
factory reset
flash rom
While attempting this method I was unable to find a way to get the ROM zip on my device in an accessible fashion do to encryption, adb push never completeing, unable to mount external storage, and MTP not allowing me access to internal storage. (this is all with TWRP version 3.6 and 3.5 (the two newest as of this post))
ADB sideload -
Booted into TWRP and started the sideload channel
ran adb sideload <zip file>
this just sits and never progresses
I am using the adb and fastboot versions listed below:
ADB - 31.0.3
Fastboot - 31.0.3
I am also running Linux, I have tried using USB 2.0 as well as 3.0 (both had the same results). I have tried different cables (also same results).
Please let me know if any more information is needed to figure this out.
Thanks.
Some roms are designed to flash from fastboot, others from recovery.
Also, TWRP's failure to decrypt should only apply to Android 12 roms - but for those you'll need to format data (after a backup of course).
So tell us which rom you want to flash. Also see the rom's thread - generally, other users will have faced the same problems.

Sorry for the late reply, at the time I had just went back to the OS is was already running simply because they have a script to handle install. Though Right now I really want to at least go back to LineageOS, CalyxOS (the ROM on running now) is just too restrictive.
I know I've had issues installing LineageOS before and at that time I found away around it to get it installed but I don't remember what I did...
So this is what happens I When following the instructions here I always run into issues gaining access to the zip file in recovery/sideloading via ADB. I think last time I installed it I was able to boot to Lineag Recovery and sideload from there but sideloading in TWRP doesn't seem to work for me. and If I try to access the zip from TWRP (to flash in recovery) it's never there or errors out.
I think im going to try again today and will post any errors.
So i just remembered I can adb push and access an external drive while in slot_b but not slot_a.
Edit: NVM cant adb push on either slot in TWRP
So I just installed Lineage Recovery but sideloading doesnt progress at all just sits at verifying signature. I'll post in the lineage thread and post back here if I figure it out.
ok figured it out. Had to place the zip on an external drive, make sure my phone was in Slot A, boot TWRP, mount the external drive and flash from there, I got a few errors saying it couldn't mount /Vendor but it seems to work

Try connecting the phone through a USB hub. I had the same issue and this was how I resolved it.
