Hello,
I've set up my AFTV today, rooted it, added xbmc with the amber skin. The AFTV is set up through my Xbox One with the HDMI passthrough, however I can only get sound in stereo and not in surround. I've tried adjusting settings in the Xbox menu as well as some within xbmc and the AFTV, but I can't seem to get it to work.
Any ideas?
Thanks

I experience the same problem - only stereo via HDMI, but 5.1 is being transmitted via SPDIF. I see no option to change that behavior.
Interestingly, there must have been such an option in an earlier version (?):

Any idea on how to change that manually in some settings file?

I know this is very unlikely, but maybe there is a possibility?
I've got a htpc in my living room which I often use only to choose music. My problem is, that I have to put on my TV to choose music, movies etc.
I thought about buying a small touch screen for it - but I don't want a computer monitor in my living room - next to my TV... Who would?
So my question is: Might there be a possibility to use a mobile phone to handle the Media Center software?
Perfect would be a connection via USB - the screen resolution doesn't matter, cause the mediacenter (freeware Team-Mediaportal) has very big "keys". And - of course, without any "tipping this and that to a vnc client" - cause then it would be easier to put on TV
Any ideas?
(sry for my bad english...)
you could use therminal services or vnc to get your pocketpc to view and control your pc

There is new app in Samsung Apps on your Galaxy S as of 23.07.2010
"TV QWERTY Remote Control Application"
It allows u to control your Samsung TV using wireless
Finally comes Samsung with feature they stated phone has from the start
it only works for new TV that has connection to the internet
if you have an old LCD that is not networked, you can forget about it

Any advice on how to get the castreceiver to work on Fire TV?
It can be activated and is also found in the network as a Google Cast Receiver, but no app can connect to it (tested with e.g. Spotify in Google Cast mode).

Tested with Open GApps 20180323 arm64
As a workaround, I use Softmedia's CastReceiver 1.1.2, but that only allows to use screencast.
I can cast Spotify to my firetv stick
I have an android TV version of Spotify installed on the stick & it comes up as Spotify connect device on my phone app
For YouTube I use the YouTube android TV app & link to phone via the code
For anything else use the allcast app from the playstore (you need the receiver app on the fire device from app store)
You can also create a media server with bubbleupnp if you want to go down that route
Thanks for the tips but I already know these alternatives. I'm really looking for a hint how to use the castreceiver from the GApps on Fire TV
My p6p will not pick up my TVs built in wireless display or even my Roku, do pixel phones only detect chrome casts? My Samsung is able to pick it all up weird.
All the playstore apps I have tried don't work either
No luck here either. I have a 2020 LG CX TV. I assume it might work with any brand that uses Android TV (or an addon Android TV, similar to Chromecast). I've successfully used apps such as AirDroid to mirror to my computer, which is also hooked up to my TV. They have several related apps, several of which might do what you need. https://play.google.com/store/apps/developer?id=SAND+STUDIO&hl=en
In the past, I've also successfully used TeamViewer - again to mirror on the computer. You have to do it locally over Wi-Fi, though, remote via mobile data didn't work for me on any phone.

Some non-Android TVs do accept Google-style casting or allow the YouTube app to act as a middle man for content-specific casting. I know my LG webOS one allows the latter. BubbleUPnP and LocalCast are similar in that regard.
But mirroring? That's harder with a Pixel.
I remember in the past there were Magisk modules to enable the checkbox for Miracast, but it doesn't actually work or can even cause bootloops.
