Hi guys.
I hope the question has not been asked, but I could not find anything about it.
I have the problem that no app without root privileges can write to my external storage.
I already tried the previous version of the rom below but with the same result.
My steps:
1. Huawei Ascend P6 U06 with B507
2. Fastboot flashed TWRP 2.8.0.0
3. Booted to recovery
4. Wiped everything without internal and external storage
5. Rebooted to recovery
6. installed this rom and gapps
7. Wipe Cache & Dalvik
As soon as I provide an app with root privileges, for example Es Explorer, it can write to external storage. Otherwise the apps can only read.
Is it a know problem? Have I to wipe the sd card before flashing the rom?
Hopefully someone can help me

Can you see this on es file explorer.

Hi and thanks for replying
Yes I can see the emulated and external sd card. I also tried to format the sd with the recovery but ended up with the same problem.
Edit: Now i found out, that this issue is new in Android KitKat. After applying the patch of this post I'm able to write in Es Explorer to external storage, but when i try to download something with Firefox the message: "Cannot download file because the SD card is in use" pops up. Also sending pictures with Threema didn't work.
Edit2: Firefox can't download because I've the same issue with the internal (emulated) sd card. I'm now looking whether I can fix it the same way.

Wipe your internal storage, this should fix all your issues but first backup your files on the internal storage.
Omg thank you very much! After booting into recovery and formatting the internal SD card everything worked fine ?
Can you tell me why it wasn't working before?

This is kinda a bug with AOSP based ROMs for our device that you loose the write permission to the storage and the only way to get it back is to wipe it.
Thanks!!

Hi just want to thank you for this reply. I know it's an old thread, but I recently flashed my Huawei Ascend P6 to CM 11 and got this problem. You made my day a good day
Also do you know if this is a recurring problem?

Hi folks I'm new here so go easy on me
I recently installed CyanogenMod via the installer but I mid the s-pen functions more than I anticipated so I have been looking at the different ROMs on here and decided to try Phoenix ROM. when I downloaded the ROM and super clean as described in the instructions I placed them both on my ext SD card but I can't flash from ext SD via Phil's cwm as it doesn't find the SD card it says its not mounted. Is it OK to place the 2 files on my phone root directory to flash from there or will super clean wipe them from there too before I can flash the ROM.
Thanks in advance

if you use a super clean wipe Zootscript Megawipe to clean, yes it will erase your internal USB storage.

switch off and remove battery and place the ext sd and boot up and see if it detects on phone now proceed to recovery and wipe there u can even find a ption to mount internal storage so after the wipe u can place your file to internal sd but before doing anything just verify if the mount is working and if the ext sd has detected or not
Tried that but no success still says unable to mount path no matter what I try to do withe the external SD it works fine from the phone just not during recovery. Could it be a bug in cm 10.2
How do I get the ROM to the internal SD if I mount it with recovery can I connect it to my laptop and transfer of over from it.
Sent from my GT-N7100
I've tried formating the SD card to fat32 and flashed the latest cwm recovery and still no joy with being able to use the external SD to flash from. So if I do the super wipe how do I get the zip file for Phoenix ROM or any other ROM for that matter onto the phone to flash it
well, i am not sure it will work or not,
but have you try with OTG cable + thumbsdriver/ pen driver with the rom in it to connected to your phone to flash in recovery ?
if this dont work, probably u will need a brand new memory card for sure
Well i finally got it sorted i flashed the latest cwm recovery again using the internal memory and it worked i can now access the external sd card from recovery so im now running phoeniX v14 and sofar im impressed and glad to have s-pen functionality back again

I wanted to make a clean install of OpemSemc.
So i did a factory reset and also deleted the sd card.
I quickly found out that that wasn't a good idea.
My phone boots into half a system (all black no features).
I can boot into the recovery.
I assume I just need to find a way to get the rom on my sd card and normally flash the boot.img .
How would I go about that?
Thanks for the help.

Connect Your phone to pc while in recovery. And then push the rom zip to Your sdcard using adb.
command:
Code:
adb push filename
I think this is not for nozomi because it doesn't have any SD CARD.

The internal memory name is shown as sdcard in recovery in nozomi. Plus if OP actually had an external sdcard, then He would never have this problem.
I tried doing the unmount trick, the one with the terminal. Still nothing
The "funny" thing is that I can install free apps without problem, but when I download Swype and Poweramp unlocker (which I bought) i keep getting this error
solutions?
Did you try a Link2SD?
More details please buddy, want to help but need to know as much as you can tell. Rom, flash details, when it first happened, etc.

Hello, I have flashed the JellyKat ROM v5 on my NoteII and got a new sd card (ADATA 32GB) from ebay, the card was sealed so I hope I wasn't cheated, but randomly I see these things in my DCIM folder and I can't write to the card and the phone seems to not read the media on it music photos everything, and I can't install any apps on it or update existing app or even create a folder through the default touchwiz My Files.
I tried to format the card on the PC but can only do quick format because it loads and loads and then say windows can't format this, I also formated it via the phone it worked for a while and then stopped working again, now I don't put a card in the phone.

I have been using my old card from my tablet all day now and it is working fine I created a new folder and copied some files from internal storage to it to test it and it worked.
Is there a way to fix the corrupted partitions on the other card?

Yup, I also faced that kind of problem before, simply run KitKat SD fix, grant root and let the app patch the platform.xml. Reboot and try again. It worked for me. :good:
Hello Guys,
I have purchased a micromax canvas a1 from a retail store 2 days ago and there is no problem in the device except that i am not able to access my phone memory (or internal SD) with using any file manager app (root browser also) nor able to access it through pc when connected. Only External SD card is accessible.
There is no problem in app installation, i am able to move app data to External SD card and vice versa. The storage setting also shows internal SD and the app manager too displays the internal SD capacity. Everything is fine except i am not able to view the internal SD card.
I have unlocked bootloader and Flashed CWM and Installed official Cyanogenmod 11 ROM but the problem still persists. You can check the below Screenshots. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Thanks for that info. Hope Lollipop update may fix it.
Wondering why nobody complained about it.
Thank you again.
I was also wondering why nobody mentioned this..
My internal storage runs out of space all the time and it bugs me that I can't access it.
And as for nexus devices, they don't have an sd card slot at all, so you can access the internal memory.

Hello
I have tested this method to enable adaptable storage and use external SDcard as internal memory from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/tab-s2/general/patch-adoptable-storage-enabler-t3460521
Note that this is native storage enabler, so no terminal or other hacks involved.
1. Download: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24591000424965737
2. Flash it with TWRP
3. Go to Storage - SDcard
4. Format sdcard it will prompt you to use it as internal memory, select that, wait for process to finish, reboot.
Now you have external sdcard as internal memory, i have tested this on J500F on marshmallow 6.0.1 and it works, only problem is that Smart Manager reports 97% used memory out of 64GB , cleaning and other functions works like normal, but this is not a problem since i have deleted Smart Manager anyways and use SD Maid.

Yes, it is a bug, but I don't mind it.
Smart manager also showing a bug, but on my PC, it shows how many memory I used.
My phone is rooted. Also flashed that zip file via twrp, but no luck. Then just jnstalled Root Essentials, and the app is formated my card, reboot, and works. Also using a custom rom!!!!!
Just remove Smart Manager app and install SD Maid, smart manager will dissapear from menu anyways, also file manager display wrong value you can delete it too and install root explorer, then convert all to system apps and enjoy
Thanks good módel FN 6.0.1

The zip method should work on all models. I don't see why it wouldn't work on X model.
I've seen that Root Essentials is an app. I don't know how it works, but since some guy confirmed that is working on other model, it should work on J500FN too.
In any case, backup your stuff before.

I don't know, but I did a search and found the answer about how to undo/remove adoptable storage: https://www.reddit.com/r/AndroidQuestions/comments/4km6ob/removing_adoptable_storage/ .
There is a topic/post with more information about adoptable storage: https://www.reddit.com/r/Android/comments/496sn3/lets_clear_up_the_confusion_regarding_storage_in/ .
I have readed a comment there saying that sdcard can't be used in laptop for example (through an adaptor I guess) if you choose adoptable storage. Original comment and answer:
Question:[–]JangoF76OnePlus 3 1 point 7 months ago
So, I use my external sd card mainly for storing music. If I adopt it as internal storage, can I still remove it from my phone and put it into my laptop to transfer music files?

Nope. It will only be usable on your phone.

I think that the phone will be slower when you use adoptable storage. There's a benchmark in the link with more informations.

Thank you very much. The links are rich in valuable information. I think all my questions are answered. I will eventually try this trick and report back here.
Finally I got it. :fingers-crossed: I wasn't able to use MM for the low storage issue.
Yesterday after viewing this thread I flashed MM rom and tried Root Essentials first, it was not working for me.
Then I flashed the zip, but there was no change in settings>storage. So, at first I thought no luck for me.
Then I noticed a notification of new sd card with two options: setup & unmount. I clicked setup and it gave me option to format as adoptable.
There is a bug that wrongly calculates total space and space used. But this issue does't bother me as I can see actual use on third party file managers.
Update:
You can't move apps to SD card when you 've formatted it as adoptable. So eventually your phone memory will be filled up as you install new apps. :crying: Only good thing is external data of apps (like received media files of whatsapp) will go to sd card.
I need something to move whole app to sd card.
Switching back to LL :crying::crying:
