[Q] How To Remove The Camera Hardware HTC One X? - HTC One X

Hi People,
I have an HTC One X, but it is dead and ha been laying around for months, collecting dusts.. ..So I thought of taking it apart and using it in DIY projects(if possible)..
What I want to know is..Is It Really Possible To DO That?..

Of course it's removable. Both front and rear camera module is detachable. There are countless disassembly video for this phone on youtube. But before you take it apart, are you sure that the phone is no longer repairable?

If I were you, i'd buy a new battery and fit it first, they are cheap enough, if the phone doesn't start then check the charge port to make sure its not broken off on the tab, they are resonably easy fixes which may fix the phone, then you have a working one. If not you have spare parts.

[Q] LCD Replacement???

Hi guys, I got my hands on a MT4G with a broken LCD.
First Q, is it worthy getting a replacement off cheapbay? What other options are there?
Second Q, is it hard to replace it? Is it possible to do it myself?
Thanks for your advise...
I haven't replaced an LCD myself but I am looking to replace a digitizer for my wife's phone.
Someone posted up this link for me in another thread I started.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/FULL-LCD-DI...984?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2a12834fe0
This should take out the hard part of disassembling the digitizer from the lcd and reattaching and the adhesive itself.
It's the complete the front housing, digitizer AND LCD in one. Already assembled.
I haven't ordered it myself yet but I AM tempted. Especially after watching some of these disassembling videos.
Let me know what you decide and how it worked out.
Just PM me.
Thanks bro and good luck.
Thanks a lot, I will check it out, the adhesive part really has me in doubt.
I've replaced the LCD without the digitizer attached and you are both correct. It can be done but the finished product is not factory quality. I looked at the ebay part posted in the link and that would be the way to do it. Otherwise you have to use a hair dryer to heat the glue and its not fun.
If you are not familiar with taking electronics apart look for a video tutorial via google; I used one to take the MT4G apart. Also label the screws as they come out by drawing the phone on a piece of paper and placing the screw accordingly on the paper. Makes assembly much easier!
Hope you take on the challenge and good luck.

Yeah my only thing about ordering this complete assembly is that my wife's phone has the SO screen and I don't want to replace with an SH, which I'm sure that part is going to be. (99.99% sure)
Add to that, she doesn't even need a new LCD and the digitizer alone is just 25 bucks.
Decisions, decisions.

I have to clean the dirt out between my digitizer and lcd! Can't tell you how annoying that is. Suppose someone could do a better job resealing it... It would be nice if a digitizer/lcd kit came with new adhesive.

I saw lcd screen and touch screen digitizer for HTC mytouch 4G there.
I've been taking electronics apart since I was 7 tears old. The MyTouch 4g finally beat me.
There are a lot of really delicate connectors that break easily. Be careful

You'd better to buy non-working phone (maybe from ebay) and make one from two phones. You should have the screwdriver. Easy to replace.
It is not really hard i saw a vid on youtube just search it up super easy actually
I bought a digitizer LCD already together for like 75 and it wasn't too bad to exchange and put this new one in but when I powered the phone the bottom left of the screen didn't work and it impossible to take it back out of the silver bezel without breaking it so I sent it back to get my money and lost the bezel. Its not too hard but be careful take your time and don't pull or yank anything.

I replaced my digitizer. I agree, there are many delicate connectors, but nothing to be afraid of. You should watch the YouTube video over and over. Also, be careful not to push on the bottom buttons while taking it apart. This was the most frustrating thing because they wouldn't sit properly when reassembled. I took it apart 5 times before I forgot to detach the power ribbon and ripped it off! There are motherboards available to fix this, but saving it for another day.

That's funny that's the same exact thing I did pulled the power ribbon right out so I just said screw it and just bought a new phone on eBay

[Q] Touch pro 2 screen plastic cracked

My plastic on the outside of my touch pro 2 is cracked. I have a problem with it and it bothers the hell out of me. I was just wondering if there is a way of taking it apart and replacing the outer plastic with a new piece and ect. Please respond!
Yes, of course.
You need special tools to do it right, and if you've never taken apart any electronics, I wouldn't recommend starting with cell phones. They are very fragile, and can be some of the most difficult devices to put back together.
1. Teardown video
2. iFixIt page for TP2 (if you've never seen iFixIt, you will be amazed. This site is incredible, and not only shows you how to tear down pretty much anything, but they also sell the tools necessary to tear apart all the stuff they show you how to tear apart ).
Good luck.
Is there a way without taking it completely apart. It's just the plastic not the whole screen itself.

[Q] Replacing the midframe

Finally managed to get my hands on a S4 for a good price off of ebay.
Sadly though, got the phone and the volume button is super loose
However, when doing a little more research, while I haven't found anything specific, it looks like it could be a pretty easy fix simply by replacing the mid frame of the phone.
I just wanted to see if anyone happened to have already tried taking their phone apart and find out if my research is correct.
Also I was curious to see if anyone knows whether or not buttons come with the midframe or not. I've seen a lot of people selling the midframe on ebay but I can't tell whether or not buttons come with them.
Thanks!

The s4 is fairly easy to take apart and replace just about every component except for the lcd/digitizer. The lcd/digitizer is directly double-sided taped down to the midframe(bka front housing) and I have yet to find or see any instructions on removing the digitizer from one front housing to another(and from the videos I did watch, it seems impossible to do). The front housing does come with the volume/power buttons attached but just make sure that the actual switches on the motherboard are not damaged.

hmmmm... are you sure? Maybe we're talking bout 2 different things because, for instance, in the IFixIt teardown it looks like only the speaker is attached the front housing.
For reference I was talking about this part

That's the rear housing and it's very easy to change! Yes, that rear housing does come with the volume/power buttons. I mistakenly said the front housing comes with the volume buttons but it is the rear housing.

White frost on the front camera

I know this is outside of the usual Q/A the forum presents, but I'm hoping you guys have some answers?
Recently, my phone suffered some water damage when a bottle leaked in my bag, and it failed to boot for 18 hours, but works successfully now (after putting the battery and phone in rice).
However, now, my front-facing camera has a sort of "white frost", or a white covering on it. It means photos are now of a bad quality, and it's basically unusable.
Image showing this: http://i.imgur.com/NnaLpfB.jpg
Any ideas on how to fix it? Would I have to remove the back cover, and manually remove the front-facing camera like on the S4? I'd rather not do that, but if needed.
(This is also the International LTE GT-19195 version of the phone)
EDIT: If you encounter this problem, wait at least a week, it could go away naturally!

Must be the calcium etc that was dissolved in the water that is left when it evaporated, I can't think of any other way of getting rid of it other than taking the phone apart, I'm sorry to say. Though I've not taken the S4 apart it shouldn't be too hard as camera should be quite accessible. Though the sub assembly is a sealed unit (quite likely) that may be a whole different story .......
PS. Could it be related to this?

Camera not focusing

I have had it with this junk phone. I bought it when it first came out and have had nothing but problems. First the gps, the overheating, the audio jack and now my camera refuses to focus on anything. Has anyone else had camera problems? The lens is clean and I can't see anything under the lens. I've cleared the app data.

You are not alone bro. I also got mine when it was released. My camera stopped focusing about 3 months ago. No hardware issues as far as scratches on lens, dirt, or abuse.
This phone had so much potential, but I've had all the same issues as you. And to add to it, this is the 1st Android phone I've had since my 1st Android, the HTC Evo, that I wasn't able to root.
I'm pretty much done with LG branded phones after this. I'm just waiting for the Pixel 2 to come out to replace this one with, and I'm only dealing with Google phones from then on.

Yeah I know about the xl being made by LG. Thats why i want the normal Pixel 2. I'm done with lg. As much as i loved lg from the optimus up to the g5.. they totally let me down with this phone.
My main camera also stopped focusing, have only had my phone about six months. I ordered the UniFix G5 camera repair kit off of Amazon for about $30. Came with slightly better quality tools than most cheap "freebie" kits included with parts.
Powered the phone off, removed SIM tray and the battery along with the chin. Unscrewed the two screws at bottom of the display. Carefully lifted display assembly up around edges (seems easier to start lifting at the screw hole opposite SIM tray first.) Once display is separated, the main camera can detach just by unsnapping the ribbon cable connector from the board and sliding the module down and out.
I noted the broken original camera module had the text "Y574A" and the UniFix module had the text "Y574B" on it. The housing is also slightly different. Hopefully this means this is a more durable hardware "B" revision. First day using it has been good as new, will update if it goes out again.

Man the hell with doing all THAT! I'm not a phone tech, I just want the damn phone to work like it's supposed to. I've had literally 2 handfuls of Android phones in my life and this is the only one ever to stop focusing. If you have to basically tear a phone apart just for it to work how it should, it's not a phone worth keeping imo ...Which is why I'm getting rid of this mf once the pixel 2 drops.

If you can afford a new phone, more power to you. Just putting it out there that if you're out of warranty, $30 and 5 minutes can fix the issue (and keep the resale value of the phone higher.) IMO a phone that is simpler to work on than changing a car tire is worth keeping.

Well I honestly don't even care anymore about having a phone. I'm done with Sprint now. Haven't had service since January and I really like it. Just use wifi when it's available but it's nice being able to take pictures with this $700 POS. I'll never buy LG again. I may try replacing the camera like you did.
Do you have a link to what you bought on Amazon?
go to google play services and disable body sensors or if you have google fit installed disable heart rate monitor, the autofocus will be normal again.
