I'm not sure flashing a stock 4.3 rom would work since you will ow have a kitkat bootloader that doesn't allow down grading. Kitkat shouldn't cause battery drain maybe something else is causing it.
You could look for a stock rom that's had the bootloader removed and that should flash ok or flash a custom recovery (this will trigger knox bit) and flash any rom you wish - my favorite based on stock 4.3 roms are android revolution v23 and latest wanamlite and there are a number of releases from Cosmyndemeter you could use.
thanks a lot for your replies
i use the code *#0228# on phone dialer, for battery calibration, and now the battery lasts a lot more, i will trying this, and if I do not see any improvement in the battery usage, i will try to make the downgrade

Was running stock knox free 4.3 rom and was trying to flash another rom ,because 4.3 stock was giving me horible battery life ,but by accident everything got deleted and didnt have no backup Odin says failed(auth).I can go to download mode and recovery mode also.
also I am running the tmobile s3
Firmware us flased in Odin.
Roms in recovery.
If you've fully updated to 4.3 fw, you can no longer odin flash any earlier builds.
So I can only flash same 4.3 now ? No older roms?

You got it. Do not try older Stock roms. There lies a Brick!
Thank you both. That sucks since the battery life is very bad.Other than that everything else works great.Hope someone will come up with a solution to flash the older roms again.
For improving Battery, follow the suggestions in this thread and do this mod.
Hey guys, I just joined the club. I have a stock, never been rooted Note 2 and I want all that 4.3 or 4.4 goodness with Air Command
I've read a little bit and it seems that I should never upgrade this OTA because if I did, It would install a new bootloader with KNOX.
Since I still have the 4.1.2 bootloader, any chance I can root without installing 4.3 bootloader so that I can go back to 4.1.2 stock when I want to sell the Note 2 when Note 4 comes in.
Can you guys recommend a 4.3 or 4.4 ROM that won't change my bootloader and will also give me the AirCommand function and apps (I really want Quickmemo). Oh and any ROMs that extend battery life and streamline BloatWiz is very welcome.
my battery is draining more than I like with Bloatwiz
Thanks in advance

Few options.
1) Flash Mrrobinsons stock 4,3 using mobile odin pro and then flash the wifi patch or devil kernel.
2) If you do not have mobile odin pro you can flash the stock Rooted odin image which is packed with 4.1.2 bootloader from here.
3) You can basically flash any 4,4 ROM just make sure it does not come with bootloader (Most custom roms dont include), make sure to read the compatibility notes.

Do any of those come with Air Command? Do they streamline Bloatwiz? and since I will flash with the 4.1.2 bootloader intact, does that mean I can go back to 4.1.2 stock when I'm about to sell my Note 2?

They are stock 4.3 images and they do not come with Air command, you may try DN3 ROM but again read the OP to ensure compatibility with 4.2.1 bootloader. Yes, you can go back to 4.1.2.

From my understanding only Kies, OTA, or Odin/Heimdall (PC version) will touch the bootloader. Flashing in recovery shouldn't mess with it.
4.3 roms on the 4.1.2 bootloader need either a custom kernel such as Devil Kernel or the bootloader patch flashed via PC Odin or Heimdall to allow wifi to work. The patch can be overwritten by odin flashing 4.1.2 roms etc. Once 4.3 had been kies, OTA, or Odined the 4.3 bootloader is set.

Yeah I'm pretty confused lol. Can someone make sense of this for me. Are all 4.3 ROMs gonna knock out my wifi and require me to reinstall a patch?
Any recommendations on 4.3 or 4.4 patches that can elongate battery life without killing my 4.1.2 bootloader. I NEED to be able to sell this phone like I never rooted it

No I mean after I've rooted it. I figure whoever I might sell it would know how to access the bootloader and see that its got KNOX and has already gotten the counter
Need a little help if you don't mind every time I restore any of my roms I backed up I lose service and phone can't find Sim card. Any idea what to do about this?

Er.... you might want to place this as a separate question in the Help & Troubleshooting forum, instead of asking it inside of this question. More people will see it as your own question with a pertinent title, than inside this poster's question. Just a thought.... :good:
Hey guys,
my GN2 has 4.3 Alliance ROM atm.
I noticed that there are more 4.3+ ROMs available than 4.3 ROMs...
What do I need to do to install 4.3+ ROMs?
I think I had to unroot, install 4.3 Stock, then Jailbreak to go from 4.1.2 to 4.3.
Thanks in advance.

Jailbreak an "android" phone? Well anyways if you want to try 4.4.2 ROM all you need to do is clean wipe your phone via custom recovery and flash any of the 4.4.2 custom ROM.SuperSu is built into the ROM so you'll have root access if for some reason SuperSu crashes when you open it in app drawer just un install it via it's settings and go to playstore to update it and you are done.I am sure you aware of being on mj5 bootloader at least to get wifi working since you are on 4.3 you should have it already.Only thing is any 4.3 bootloaders wouldn't charge the phone with a 4.4.2 TW ROM on it ,it will turn on by itself when charger is plugged in.So if you are out of warranty and don't care about triggering knox when updating your bootloader. upgrade to ND3 bootloader which is 4.4.2 bootloader, but you cannot downgrade bootloader. So it's the choice you got to make which bootloader you'd like to stick to and its pros and cons.
ND3 bootloader
How to flash bootloader
Hey thanks so much for helping me out.
a few questions though.

I charge my phone using external charger so I never directly connect my phone to a charger. I guess this isn't a problem for me?
Can I install 4.3 ROM after installing 4.4.2?
Also what happens if I trigger know while updating my bootloader? does it brick my phone? what's remedy to triggering know?
Thanks again.

That shouldn't be a problem if you charge your battery via those external chargers. When Knox is triggered you cannot go back to 4.1.2 ROM only 4.3 and higher ROM are possible. You won't brick your phone while upgrading your bootloader you might brick it while going back to an older bootloader although chances are rare since ODIN would not flash an older bootloader it would just FAIL on you.As of now one cannot reset Knox.
Hi,
I' ve rooted my S4 mini i9195 (with 4.4.2 I9195XXUCNE6_I9195YPRCNE2_I9195XXUCNE6_HOME.tar firmware) with xda guide, but i have battery drain issue. So I've flashed GT-I9195_Kernel_v1.zip, but after that when phone is restarting I'm only hearing a sound for a 3 seconds and screen is black. Do you have any advice because I sooooo want my device rooted
Thank you for your help.
The kernel you flashed is not for Kitkat (4.4.2)
sent from my GT-I9195
That kernel is meant for stock jellybean 4.2.2. As for stock kitkat we have no custom kernels. So just rooting is the only way.
As for your device it will not boot 'coz you flashed the wrong kernel on incompatible ROM. Use ODIN to flash the firmware (4.4.2) and DO NOT WIPE DATA. Your device will boot just fine as you now have stock KK kernel. Also use any of the methods on this forum like flashing CWM and then rootkit or TOWELROOT or CF-auto root. All work fine. GOOD LUCK.
Thank you for your help. Seems like towelroot works like charm. There is no longer baterry drain issue. You guys rock☺
I've been waiting for months for an official samsung kitkat update for my phone. (i9195L). Today I checked on sammobile and saw that the update has arrived, for Trinidad and Tobago.
Now that it has been released, I want to know if I can flash it over my Carbon Rom, which has Android 4.4.4.
I want to know if I can go back to stock and flash this new firmware with kitkat on my device via Odin, or if I will have any problem considering I'm actually downgrading to 4.4.2.
Thanks in advance.

Good rule of thumb with OTAs. Don't perform then on a custom rom. I would use Odin to report to stock. Then see if you can get the update via OTA. However keep in mind that the newer update may not have a root method so if that is important to you, check into that. And always back up in recovery! Flashing back to stock should not harm you device.

U won`t really downgrade But take into consideration this :
Do u have Knox bootloader active ? 0x0 or 0x1 in download mode ? Once u flash KitKat u can`t downgrade to samsung jellybean. U can flash aosp again if stock samsung won`t fit u . If u don`t have Knox bootloader i woyld flash an older firmware that does not contain Knox, 2 3 times in a row until u bring your phone to Official not custom and after that flash samsung kitkat. That way u will sure have knox not triggered, all flashed good modem and so and no problems. I think i write too much and u won`t understand a thing ( i`m bad at explaining stuff )

Yes, you write too much, lol. But I get your point. Thanks for the reply.
I have Knox set to 0x1 so I guess it's activated, but I don't have any plan going back to jelly bean. i will stay with kitkat.
Besides I think there's already a way to root stock with kitkat via Towel root, so I guess it's a lot of help.

I don't completely agree. Towelroot worked on stock 4.4.2 for me fresh after an Odin restore. I believe it doesnt work on HTC phones and something else. Don't hold me to that I could be wrong. But Towelroot should work great for the OP

Yes if you stock kit kat without root and such you will need to use odin. Using odin will give you a complete stock. Recovery, kernel, etc. Meaning you won't have a custom recovery to restore a back up. Back up your current setup using your custom recovery and keep the back up on your external storage. If you choose to go back if stock doesn't work for you, you may be able to restore the back up once you re-root and install the custom recovery, but it may cause some errors. I'm not 100% sure that the restore will work or not. My suggestion is to find a stock rom that is only rooted and not modded. Less hassle that way. And much easier to go back to your current rom if you don't want the stock rom.

One question: If I already installed this firmware (kitkat) How can I root it? Towelroot? I don't want to trigger Knox, I want to Root it workout having to enable Knox and put that message with yellow letters..
Edit: I rooted it by installing recovery and flashing the rootkit. So far so good.
