It was showing but now only gives me the option of 720p max. Even when I check on my computer for the video, it says 1080p or 1440p but phone only gives 720p. Any idea why? I have had 1440p come up on youtube before but not anymore

Not sure if this is an issue with the phone or Youtube, but I've uploaded two videos now testing the 4k footage but when I select the 4k option, it loads for a little while then switches to 480p
Anyone else had this problem?
it's just you I guess, cause the youtube video plays in 4k for me

Hmm. My computer at home wont play it, neither will my one at work, both of which are dual quad xeons with titans.
This video works fine for me
But this one doesn't
Can you see this one? It was taken with my G3 and uploaded with my G3 and it showed as 4k when I watched it with my PC

I set my settings on video size to UHD 3840x2160 before taking a video. And when i tried to share it on youtube, it doesnt seem to be 4k. Is there another way to do it?
What resolution does it come up on YouTube? Also are you using the youtube app on the Note 4 to view the video?
Every 60 frames-per-second YouTube video I try to watch will only display in 480p.
....
This is common for new phones. It takes a few weeks before 60fps and even 1440p to show up.
1440p works fine for me on YouTube app
Only 60fps doesn't work
I've noticed that any 60fps 1080p video or 4K video that I take on my Pixel XL and upload to Google Photos always shows up as plain old 1080p. Has anyone else noticed this?
I've noticed that if I download the same video in Google Drive to my machine, 60fps or 4K remains intact- but not when playing back in the browser (either in Drive or Photos).

When playing back in photos, do you adjust the quality in the bottom right? (Similar to YouTube)
Update: I see now. Even though it's got the quality options in the lower right, the options are limited to Auto are various resolutions from 1080P on down. No 4k or 60fps. Weird.

Yep very weird. I haven't seen anyone else talk about this issue either.
I am guessing that like YouTube that because the screen of the Pixel XL is 2k it doesn't give the option for 4k play back on the phone itself
That's a shame.... It should at least do the 60fps

The video has to be uploaded to a higher quality, most videos on YouTube are not higher than 1080p.
I have no issue seeing the 2K resolution when on a video that was uploaded in 2K. See attached photo.
Try the same video I did.

Have you updated your YouTube app?
If so, then the blame falls on Google. I know they have some lists for specific devices and being able to do such capabilities like VP9 playback.
If you are rooted, check this thread out: http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/app-patched-youtube-vp9-60fps-playback-t3418216
It's the one I am using, I had no idea it had an effect on 2K resolution too.
I am not rooted stock and waiting for nougar update....okay i will try contacting google fkr a possible sollution
Solveddddd.......i just uninstalled the installed updates to the youtube app
In other words uninstalling youtube from playstore and then trying playing a 2k video give me 2k resolution.. Updated to latest version again....and working
