Hey guys
I've tried alot of earphones
iBeats
BeatsPro with CT
Sennheiser MM30i etc.etc.
None of the volume +/- buttons work, but it works perfectly on iphone...
Anyone got any ideas, links etc for a pair of earphones?
Besides that, earphone thread!
What earphones do you use with the Z1? Is it good?
I'm using sony's SBH50 and i really enjoy them.
The iOS headsets don't work because there is some chip in them that controls the buttons which works only with iOS, the call button works without it.

it doesn't work with my iBeats sadly... thanks for the input tho I'll try on my sennheisers later
I bought the Sony Earbuds (MDREX100IP) and obviously they don't work with volume keys. That is just ridiculous. You spend a lot of money for one if the most expensive phone out there and you cannot get the most basics functions. Just sick.

Hi,
I've got a Bose ae2 headset and the same problem: volume keys do work on ios but not on android, whatever your device is.
I've tried several smartphones (htc, Samsung, sony) and none of them handle those keys.
I've also tried Smart Keys but i don't see any option relevant to volume keys.
I quit trying to solve that because i think it's just hardware, on the headset side.
Maybe with the fact that Android devices greatly outnumber ios devices, sennheiser, bose and others will reconsider this problem on future models.

Most earbuds tend to be programmed specifically for Apple devices, unfortunately.

This right here :good:
Wut
I'm using the earphones that came with my sister's s4. All of the buttons work with ALL functions (pause, play, vol +, vol -, double tap next song, triple tap previous song, long press setting)
Asked this question on Google+ and other Xperia owners mentioned the Sony Smart Headset MH1C will work with Z1, with all functions (mic, play/pause, track changes, volume). Sadly, this headset appears to be have been discontinued but you might be able to find on Ebay.
I find it somewhat ridiculous that Android smartphones can't agree on some sort of standard, like there is on iPhone/iPod. The one thing I miss most when I switched from iPhone to my Z1 is the inability to control the volume on my headphone remote. And trying to find a compatible set is nearly impossible, whereas every headphone maker out there makes compatible sets for iPhone/iPod, including Sony themselves!
I have the MH1C, as it came with my phone and can confirm that it works no problem. All buttons including vol down, vol up, answer/play/pause as well as the mic function properly.
Has any of you heard or tried Fiio LU2 adapter?
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Fiio-LU2-Ad...e=UTF8&qid=1388794076&sr=1-1&keywords=fiio+lu
I have not had a chance to test it myself and there are mixed reviews about it. Supposedly it does exactly what you need, meaning you can use iphone earphones on android phones.

I am actually using Sennheiser MM70s. I find it to be a very good solution for my xperia z1, the control button works perfectly (next song, last song, pause/play, long press, ...). In addition, its volume button works on its own (it is not controlling the Xperia's volume, but controlling the headphone's volume instead).
I leave the phone volume at 40-50% then controll the output from the headphones.
The sound quality is amazing (specially the bass response),The mic quality is excellent as well.

wait so the s4 earphones work with the volume buttons and stuff?
Thanks for the heads up, might invest in a pair or two of them... (got a alot of earphones already but whatever )
I'll buy the Sony Smart Headset MH1C when I get my Z1 back, thanks @richardchiu
I'll report if it works!
Sony Xperia Z1 refuses all Apple headphones. But most brand headphones can work for Z1.
Xiaomi Piston

Absolutely love them. Volume buttons work flawlessly.
Be sure to buy the original ones!
got mine from here.

SmartKey
Well, I use Smart Key app, in order to get the earphone button configured the way i want it too. It is not the most complete option, but it worked fine to me.

I hate the S4 headphones....I still have a pair of my old S3 headphones which I found were better and yes volume up and down and blah blah blah all work on the Z1
Sorry that I'm writting to 2 years old theard but ..
I have Xiaomi Hybrid and remote control isn't working problem is that it's not working on CM12.1 on Stock rom it was working without problem.
Hello,
My brother gave me his old BOSE OE2i's and they're nice but the volume up and down buttons do not work because they're originally designed for the iphone and from my understanding apple uses a different pin layout of their 3.5mm connectors. I would love to be able to use the volume up and down buttons, as well as the microphone. The only working button is the middle play/pause/skip button.
FiiO LU2 Cable is the only thing I've found so far but apparently it doesn't make the volume up and down buttons work so that's a pass.... I know you can solder the cable but I don't want to really risk damaging the cable. If anyone knows of any iphone to galaxy s3 headset converters please let me know!
Thanks,
Zealex.
If the headset was originally made for iphone then you can forget it, the volume up/down signal from a certificated/original headset are different as from for example the i9300 original headset. the original headset from the S3 is not even working on a lg smartphone.
and for this no adapters exist

I am using too a Bose AE2I with my S3. You can work around this issue with a software as Headset Button .
When you push the central button of the Bose 4 times, the sound starts from low level and increase progressively. You select the volume by pushing the button once again.
This is not perfect by its ok for my usage as sometime I also simply use the s3 volume up and down button.
Bummer that such a converter exists, thanks for the replies guys! Blows that there aren't any headphones that can use the volume controls on the s3... :/

try this:

might not be what you are looking for but it worked for me with the iphone headset. you're limited to one button but it might be better than nothing.
I currently use an HX550 headset with the rudimentary voice control on my Moto G. I'm going to be springing for a new X and want all of the Moto Voice goodness from my headset. I'm more than happy with my old headset, and while the new hipster ones are pretty, I see no reason spilling $150 for something that I don't need. Anybody using existing headsets for Moto Voice? Does it work at all? Does it work well?
Thanks in advance.
I use the HX550 with my Moto X and it works well for all voice commands. But you do have to touch the button on the headset if your phone is not in ear shot; this is not the case with the Hint. Other advantages of the Hint are:
1.) Auto power on/off due to proximity sensors.
2.) Audio pass thru when it's in your ear and you are not actively communicating with it.
3.) Slick little charging case.
Now as to whether or not these make it worth replacing your existing headset is up to you... for me, no.
Thanks,
I can touch my ear - and I'm happy keeping it on, as it keeps the phone unlocked when it is with me.
I'm assuming Moto hint performs actions without turning your phone's display on. I've always hated requesting to play music over Bluetooth and then pocket dialing someone because the damn screen came on.
Has any one tried the apple headphones whit the z3c? The volume rocker work? thanks
Like on basically every android device, middle button works fine volume does not. If you're looking for a headset with volume buttons I can suggest the htc e242. Cheaper than Apple, good sound and fully functioning volume buttons. There's another thread around here about them.
In my case, mic doesnt work on calls
I need a non in ear headset whit volume rocker ecc. do you know if there is a good one?
I was wondering too about the iphone earphone. Since i hate the sony ear bud type which came with z3c, model - mh750 . Its like i put some rubber in my ear. Iphone ear bud type is very good.
Sony sth -30 is seems fine but couldnt get in the market... Will wait for this.

I use Jaybird's Bluebuds X, it's a bluetooth headset and it works wonders.
Personally I use a Sony Bluetooth headset, SBH50 which has media controls but I've used dozens of wired headsets in my work, literally, every last one of them worked perfectly, that includes any buttons that were meant to work on an Android phone (so no, on iPhone compatible ones the volume buttons don't work, the answer one does).
I have yet to encounter one that was meant for Android and WASN'T compatible.

The Sony Smart MH1C works perfectly, 3 buttons.
Do NOT buy the version without C, which is for Sony Ericson
less quality

I'm using the fischer consonance earbuds, works like a charm. But it looks like the headset jack is of a lower quality than my previous phone, i tend to hear less of the middle tones en less bass.. Anyone experiencing something like that?

I use this one too, and IT ROCKS !!!!:victory:
Have a look into the jabra revo wireless, it's packed with features. Got one for my girlfriend's daughter, the built quality is insane for the price.
I use these ones from sol republic. http://solrepublic.com/shop/jax-in-ear-1-button-headphones.html
Sony MDR-XB920
Could someone confirm if the Sony MDR-XB920 works with the One Plus?
And is it true that all the bluetooth headsets work fine with the One Plus?
MI Piston 2.1 is really good !
Yes all bluetooth headset should work with the OPO. The Sony MDR-XB920 does seems to work without any problem... look here for a review.
The xiaomi pistons 2 (2.1, but the .1 is just an extra .1 of cable length) do all of these things. Only $30, with excellent sound quality.
