The signature on XDA is limited Yes! It has a limited amount of characters. But with a few tricks, you can squeeze more content into the signature.
This is my attempt to find a way to push the limits a bit. If you have other ideas, post them in the thread and if you want to discuss things, let's do it. Thanks.
Here are a few examples.
1. Combine the BB code
Click to collapse
Not good:
HTML:
[CENTER][B][U]Here are my devices:[/U][/B]
[B]HTC Desire[/B]
[B]Google Galaxy Nexus[/B]
[B]Google Nexus 7[/B][/CENTER]
With a [ B ] at the beginning and an [ /B ] at the end of the text paragraph you save 7 characters in each line between. You can use the same technique with other formats.
Better:
HTML:
[CENTER][B][U]Here are my devices:[/U]
HTC Desire
Google Galaxy Nexus
Google Nexus 7[/B][/CENTER]
Result:
Code:
[CENTER][B][U]Here are my devices:[/U]
HTC Desire
Google Galaxy Nexus
Google Nexus 7[/B][/CENTER]
2. Remove quotation marks in BB code
Click to collapse
Not good:
HTML:
[CENTER][B][U]Here are my devices:[/U]
HTC Desire
Google Galaxy Nexus
Google Nexus 7
[SIZE="4"][COLOR="Orange"]xda[/COLOR][COLOR="Sienna"]developers[/COLOR] [COLOR="Orange"]senior member[/COLOR][/SIZE][/CENTER]
In this case with the formatted string you can save 8 characters by removing the " in the BB code, it still works.
Better:
HTML:
[CENTER][B][U]Here are my devices:[/U]
HTC Desire
Google Galaxy Nexus
Google Nexus 7[/B]
[SIZE=4][COLOR=Orange]xda[/COLOR][COLOR=Sienna]developers[/COLOR] [COLOR=Orange]senior member[/COLOR][/SIZE][/CENTER]
Result:
Code:
[CENTER][B][U]Here are my devices:[/U]
HTC Desire
Google Galaxy Nexus
Google Nexus 7[/B]
[SIZE=4][COLOR=Orange]xda[/COLOR][COLOR=Sienna]developers[/COLOR] [COLOR=Orange]senior member[/COLOR][/SIZE][/CENTER]
3. Use URL shortener
Click to collapse
Not good:
HTML:
[CENTER][B][U]Here are my devices:[/U]
HTC Desire
Google Galaxy Nexus
Google Nexus 7[/B]
[SIZE=4][URL=http://www.xda-developers.com][COLOR=Orange]xda[/COLOR][COLOR=Sienna]developers[/COLOR][/URL] [COLOR=Orange]senior member[/COLOR]
[URL=http://forum.xda-developers.com/member.php?u=4465234]My profile[/URL][/SIZE][/CENTER]
With an URL shortener you can drastically save characters, depending how much links you want to place in the signature. Here you can find some URL shortener services with different clicks analyzer and other features and different speed and reliability. Also the link size differs, current examples below. Don't hesitate to post shorter ones, I will add them.
Original URL: http://www.xda-developers.com (29 characters)
bit.do - http://bit.do/SVVD (18 characters)
goo.gl - http://goo.gl/005r7Q (20 characters)
is.gd - http://is.gd/XEkaKm (19 characters)
to.ly - http://to.ly/He33 (17 characters)
v.ht - http://v.ht/Ua28 (16 characters)
x.vu - http://x.vu/LK9a5o (18 characters)
Better:
HTML:
[CENTER][B][U]Here are my devices:[/U]
HTC Desire
Google Galaxy Nexus
Google Nexus 7[/B]
[SIZE=4][URL=http://goo.gl/005r7Q][COLOR=Orange]xda[/COLOR][COLOR=Sienna]developers[/COLOR][/URL] [COLOR=Orange]senior member[/COLOR]
[URL=http://goo.gl/ixCGxW]My profile[/URL][/SIZE][/CENTER]

4. Use images instead of text

If you can minimize the characters by using an image, go for it. Some people list their device history. You can also do this with an image. In this case it's the xdadevelopers senior member string. I got the proper image from the thread [Cont]Get your XDA-Dev Status Sigs here! by @Lesicnik1. You can find a lot great banners for your signature there or an individualized from [Signatures] I make custom XDA signatures! by @thenookieforlife3. Grab your image there and click his THANKS button. As explained before, shorten also the URL to the image.
There are quite several threads where you can request your very own signature image (e.g. 1, 2, 3, 4... just search the About xda-developers.com forum for "signature"). Be polite and you'll receive your individualized signature image. You can use this image as a link to your thread as well and save the characters for a separate text link underneath the image. See the following example.
Better:
HTML:
[CENTER][B][U]Here are my devices:[/U]
HTC Desire
Google Galaxy Nexus
Google Nexus 7[/B]
[URL=http://goo.gl/005r7Q][IMG]http://goo.gl/cxXvG2[/IMG][/URL]
[SIZE=4][URL=http://goo.gl/ixCGxW]My profile[/URL][/SIZE][/CENTER]
Result:
Code:
[CENTER][B][U]Here are my devices:[/U]
HTC Desire
Google Galaxy Nexus
Google Nexus 7[/B]
[URL=http://goo.gl/005r7Q][IMG]http://goo.gl/cxXvG2[/IMG][/URL]
[SIZE=4][URL=http://goo.gl/ixCGxW]My profile[/URL][/SIZE][/CENTER]
5. Place a link to an external resource
Click to collapse
If this is still not enough, place a link in your signature to your post in the thread Signature links, where you have up to 30,000 characters (includes BB code elements, spaces and new lines) for more information about you. You can alternatively use an external platform or storage provider like Google Docs, Google Sites or other platforms where you can store more information. I finally found Google Sites quite nice for this and I placed a link in my signature which leads to my Profile Extension.
Check out my Profile Extension.
EDIT (25 Oct 2014)
If you want to shrink your existing signature, you can use a find and replace tool to change a lot of strings at once. These tools are usually built in components of all modern text editors or office suites (Wordpad, Microsoft Office, Kate, LibreOffice, OpenOffice and many more).
EDIT (10 Jan 2015)
A hyperlink without a text will be automatically parsed and is clickable. You cannot use a text for that link, but on the other side, this saves a lot characters.
HTML:
www.xda-developers.com /* 22 characters */
[URL="http://www.xda-developers.com"]XDA Developers[/URL] /* 57 characters */

Great guide! +1
Lesicnik1's signatures are nice, but there are two problems:
1. He doesn't make them custom for each person;
2. The signatures he has made only correspond with the old XDA 2013 theme(s).
Good news for all of you guys, however, I make signatures custom-made for everyone who asks, as can be seen in my own thread ••• [Sigs][XDA 2015 Themes] I make custom XDA signatures! •••, as well as in Lesicnik1's thread (mentioned in the OP). So if you want either a custom-made signature or an XDA 2015 Light/Dark themed custom signature, head over to my thread.
Thanks again for the tips, @benkxda!
Oh yes, and for a more detailed explanation of image linking, see my guide over at [Guide] Linking images on XDA.

First point would not be that problem for me, but number two will be more and more important.
Added your thread and hope there will be much interest for customized/individualized signature images.

Thank you.
Maybe this will get me a little publicity - I am kind of devoid of signature wanters right now.
And you're right - as more and more people start using the 2015 themes, they're going to want updated sigs.
I hope I can handle the throng when it comes!

It may also be worth mentioning that banners can also link directly to a particular thread as well. I've seen plenty of members in the past that have had a banner for their ROM and a link to the ROM thread placed underneath the banner, as they weren't aware they were able to do so.
Also, another great place for a signature extension is the following thread - Signature links. I've used that thread myself, even though I've already linked to a few of my other threads in my sig already. The good thing about using that thread is that posts on XDA can contain 30,000 characters so a post there will be more than enough to suit anyone's signature needs

Thanks for the two ideas. I included them. If you find some better English expressions within the post, let me know. Otherwise thanks again

Welcome to the improved XDA-developers forum

First of all: don't worry. Everything you are used to is still here. Your username still exists, all the messages are still here, and we're all still here.
There are a few changes though:
You can set a country flag, as well as which device(s) you have and a home GSM-provider. These will be displayed in icon form with your messages. It's completely uncomplicated and much more fun if everyone participates. So please use the 'Profile' button in the menu above to set these things for you. They help others help you by knowing what device you have and what provider you are using.
Topics now have an extra property, which defines whether they are relevant for the original XDA, for the XDA II or for both. A small icon shows with each message. You can set this property when you start a new topic.
The separate XDAII board is gone. All messages there have been moved to the forum where they are most appropriate (see below). The fact that the messages were originally posted in XDAII now shows with an icon.
We now allow attachments, both in forum postings and in Private Messages, sized up to 50MB (!).
The boards have new names, and are slightly re-organized:
[list:42f131921e]
General
Current events, news, etc.
Using it
messages formerly in 'PocketPC' go here.
Not too technical, about use and peculiarities.
Unlocking it
formerly called 'Unlocking'
Networking it
formerly called 'GPRS/WAP settings'
Stocking up for it
formerly called 'Accessories'
Upgrading and modifying it
formerly 'ROM updates'
Hacking it
formerly 'Programmers corner' and 'Other techie stuff'
Anything but it
formerly called 'Off-topic'
[/list:u:42f131921e]
We currently use the plain-vanilla 'subSilver' phpBB style. Expect further changes to the way things look over the next few days. Please let me know by clicking 'PM' under this message if anything that used to work for you all of a sudden isn't working anymore.
Hope you like it...
New look
Sexy!
Wow ! well done ! certainly a lot of work ...thanks
Sure does and it looks good too! 8)
But found the following to be missing:
no USA T-Mobile listed under GSM Provider
no AT&T radio stacks listed under Radio Version.

We're still confused about all these Radio Stack Upgrade numbers. And if we are confused, imagine what that means for the poor folks out there. But I will include some more numbers tomorrow...
A couple of suggestions:
In the ROM Version setting of the profile, there should be a "kitchen" option for 4.00.16, since this is on at least one kitchen (perhaps "kitchen" ought to be a check box?)
I don't know that I would have chosen to have a merged 'update it' forum for XDAI and XDAII. Most readers are interested in info for one device and dont care about the other.

I was planning to create a one-click filter option for 'viewforum.php'.
Why damn, this blob-thing is ... growing.
As you may have seen the forum now has it's own hostname: forum.xda-developers.com. All existing links (/forum and /phpBB) will redirect to the correct thread or post on the new hostname (using a rewrite rule and sending HTTP 'Moved Permanently').
The uncompressed database for the forum is now 40 MB, the entire site is sending and receiving a few GigaBytes per day, to and from over 2500 unique IP-numbers each day.
Congradulation!
Hello
Well done and great work, keep it up.
thanks with best regards.
Othman
looks alrite but i miss the yellowy colour scheme now looks like every other forum on the web lol
how strange ...
the DB is only 40Mb ... this fits on 10% of my stamp size SD card ...
and yet, with just 2500 db-access (and how many posts? probably 100kb)
we get Giga bytes of traffic....
Just think how wasteful we're with current technology....
This goes double for a Pocket PC with two wireless communications,
100's of Mb of data, 400Mhz cpu ... and all that it does is displaying
who is calling your phone
Hmmm ....
[this is not a flame of the site or the PPC.... just a note on the status of the information/software age of the 21st century in general]

No worries: this is temporary. There will be some proper design-work done on the entire site.
This is a good opportunity to say "Thank you" to Mario Giambanco, whose ideas and kind offer to work on the site prompted me to do some cleanup first, which resulted in the changes you see. Between him, myself, and hopefully some other volunteers we can now start to do a major overhaul concerning the looks and stale content of the main site.
The new 'main site' is going to be database-generated (from the phpBB database), and will have at least 'News' and 'FAQ' pages, pointing to topics on the forum. This will mean the 'main site' will be much more of an up-to-date tribute to the collective work of all of you on the forum, instead of a somewhat stale collection of some cool stuff we did way back. Creating layout in the way we did it before is just too much work.
Welcome to our new face
It looks very nice
But maybe we need added section: download & upgrade hardware ???
very nice
Simply An excellent job
I preferred the old one. bah humbug
Thank You!
Thanks! For all the hard work it is much appreciated
Keep burning the midnight oil, it can only get better! ( like the XDA II )
Kind Regards, StayLucky Jim.
Hacking it ?
I written quite a few custom applications for the XDA and your site has some interesting infomation that has helped me.
I have replied a couple of times too with some code snipits.
All was very professional.
Now the Programmers Corner is under Hacking it, so I must of now become a Hacker. An interesting term, that I will have to add to my CV and see if it effects my future software appointments.
At last! Your decision to migrate to 2.0.6 is very welcome
If you interested - I can suggest two mobile adaptations for phpbb:
- read only version optimized for using as Mobile Favorites/Avantgo channels
and
- fully functional version for using from mobile devices.
These versions were developed and tested for one of the mostly visited (264,100 messages currently) PDA-related site in Russia http://www.handy.ru/board Unfortunately, all of the site is on Russian, but you may look though the following links just to smell it:
Mobile Favorites/AvantGo version:
Setup channels (Controls translation: forum name; timeframe; pictures (all/smiles only/none); link conversion mode; signatures on/off)
Ready-to-synchronize channel link (two days plus vacations, smiles only, links converted to text, without signatures).
Online mobile version: (banners should be visible from desktop PC only)
Forum index
Forum page
Topic discussion
All security is the same as in desktop phpbb version. Almost all functionality is implemented except site administration, advanced moderation panel (topic joining/splitting/mass deletes) and profile changing/private messaging.
These forum versions not include support for skins or language resources (sorry, but I develop them as fast as I can). So translation to English and slight adaptation to your mods (if any) needed. But I'm ready for this job.
The only main forum changes needed are:
- adding 4 lines to template variables array initialization;
- modifying 4 template files to add links to mobile versions;

It seemed like a logical term to combine 'Programmers corner' and the little used 'Other techie stuff'. We think of the term 'hacker' as meaning a benign and very advanced programmer or techie, and not in any negative media-sensationalist terms. (Even though some of us do smile when we take the SIMlock off.)
Ofcourse if you think the rest of the world would see this differently, you're welcome to say 'Programmers corner' in future job applications.
I sincerely hope this linguistic issue will not keep you from continuing to benefit and contribute in the future.

Official Thread for XDA Wiki Migration Helpers

Hey everyone,
Migrating the old wiki to the new software is a big job, and thanks to everyone that is contributing! If you want to contribute and you're not doing so already, send me a PM and I will give you the information you need to help.
This thread shall act as a central place for discussion relating to the migration of the wiki. In the end, we want the wiki to act as an information-rich, well-organized database that XDA users can refer to for information about the things we discuss most here at XDA.
P.S. I'll be keeping an eye out for the most active contributors to the migration and population of the wiki. We will need a couple of Wiki Admins after this process is complete to ensure the smooth running of the new wiki going forward. =D
DaveShaw EDIT
Attached is a wiki syntax converter.
It's in WPF and .Net 4.0 so it might need the latest .Net Framework from MS.
I'll post updates in this thread.
PM me bugs.
I'm in on this and happy to answer any phpWiki / media wiki questions.
I have a tool for converting between the syntax's if anyone's interested.
I'm just adding support for tables and then I will post it up.
I'm also trying to head up some projects and get some standards / policies on the wiki, but the main job is getting stuff over.
If you can try and follow the examples others are doing on there, we'll have a ver nice wiki at the end of it.
The HTC Rhodium page is what I'm hoping most of the structure will be, but it's a wiki, and anyone can change that.
Dave
Congrats to all the team!
A new Wiki will be very welcome
Willing to help on the Nexus one and general android article. XDA wiki is great !
Yeah I think once the Wiki is done it will look really nice! I've been doing alot of work with the devices.
Posted my wiki syntax converter (with table support) in the first thread.

Yeah in porting some pages over I've either noticed the old page has lots of invalid links or the page is just a mess. I agree that we should just work on getting everything over to the new wiki and then later on we can work on cleaning it all up and enforcing some standards.
The phone template is a great start. The phone pages should be named by MANUFACTURER_DEVICE_NAME instead of just the DEVICE_NAME. I've seen some pages that are not named like that or end up being re-directs of some sort to the above syntax.
We need a table class so all the tables can be standardized. I've been using this simple style to create a less ugly table
Code:
{|border="1" cellpadding="3" style="border-collapse: collapse;"
For those who are porting images over, it seems everything from the original wiki is on the new domain however files in the /uploads/ folder from the old wiki should be moved to the proper directory on the new wiki. Can we also allow some other file types in the uploader besides images? PDF, .doc, .zip?
Also it seems some pages are missing from the old wiki? I'm not sure if that is just incorrect syntax on the old wiki or not. Remember to read or post on the discussion pages if you have ideas or questions about a specific page. I've certainty been leaving some notes and questions there.

I'm naming / moving pages from Rhodium to HTC Rhodium and leaving re-directs.
If you see any pages that need deleting, bang the delete template on them and I'll take a look.
The old wiki had missing pages, if they're not there, then they are probably gone, but you can post some links and I'll take a look.
As for CSS, can you edit the MediaWiki:Common.css page? I doubt it, but I will have a look at the styles and that later, for now I am just sticking the equivalent of <table border="1"> on each table so I can see the rows.
I also know some decent wiki coders, who I'm going to ask to help me with the basics.
Dave
The User Help -> Formatting section of http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Help:Contents covers Tables (bottom of page) and such. I've been using the guide quite a bit while porting (migrating) the Raphael section of the wiki.
HTH,
Just been working on some of the android sections, but I noticed that Dave's wiki convertor seems to be dealing with external links wrongly.
Where, for example,
Code:
*[VillainROM 5.5.0 (2010-05-04) | http://www.villainrom.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=402] by nprussell
is converted to
Code:
*VillainROM 5.5.0 (2010-05-04) | by nprussell
this produces a broken link. However, if it were to output
Code:
*VillainROM 5.5.0 (2010-05-04) by nprussell
then it should work fine.
ie. use only one square bracket when link is external to the wiki, and instead of the pipe character between URL and title, a space should be used.
Just an observation. No idea if this is possible, feasible, desirable or even correct for anyone other than me...
EDIT: Hmm. Ignore me for now I think. I did another page and it worked fine... Strange. I'll try and see what the issue is
EDIT2: I also added the
Code:
Outdated
tag, which can be used at the header of a page to highlight it being outdated. For an example, see http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=VillainROM

Noticed the new Templates, nice work .
If you can let me know an exact line / snippet that is wrong I'll debug it. (The whole app was a Regex crash course)

OK. Here's one that doesn't work right.
Code:

from http://URL to the wiki /index.php?pagename=GSM Hero ROMs
Output is
Code:
*Andro-Plus 1.1 (2010-02-08) |
Expected is
Code:

I have put these on my talk page on the new wiki, http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=User_talk:Anon2122, so you can see the issue.
By using double square brackets, mediawiki is treating it as an internal link, when it should be external. If the string begins "http://", then only one square bracket should be used.
I have no idea why the phpWiki for this example had a trailing pipe within the square brackets but it can be ignored.
The pipe separating the link from the description should also be a space. The first space encountered in the square bracket is treated as the splitting point.

Output is

Thanks I'm just looking at another URL conversion problem at the moment .
Might be the same root cause, phpWiki is very forgiving in allowing shocking markup.

Yeah, seems so. It's no hassle to change them manually, as I've done for most of the hero stuff i can find, but it gives you a RegEx challenge
There should not AFAIK be a pipe at the end of the URL in phpWiki, so I have no idea how that got there
Cheers

I know what it's meant to look like, it's the Greedy Regex Expressions that are changing it for me.
I've changed the whole URL stuff and am just trying to cobble a new feature in before bed.

Hey all, I am new here, but not to wiki.
I have a question about approriate content on the new wiki. An example would be Gene_Registry on the old wiki, sorry I am new and cannot post links.
Is this something that should be in the new wiki? If so I would think it should go on the Gene wiki page.

I'm liking subpages at the moment. But I'm not sure if it's the best way forward.
i.e. http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=HTC_Gene/Registry
But if you want to keep the old page name to save time that's fine, the main aim is migrating content at the moment.

Good application but needs some improvement
Application is useful..however the text field is somewhat small in size. Also, I am unable to scroll down to 'description' and 'password' field is easily...
Have a look at the screenshot. I am using HTC Mozart
Also you will need to allow to copy the password or the account name e.g. twitter handle

That's being added to the list Never thought of that actually Great idea (Y)
1) Also the text box should be bigger so I can See what is getting typed in.
2) I should be able to edit it.
3 ) When pushing the encrypt button the app exists on me.
You should provide an option to have a 'master password' kind of thing. This will keep our encrypted data safe from others. Decrypt option can be used to access all the sensitive information like password, site.
See youtube video link for better idea http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HZyEslVBVCE&hd=1

A masterkey is already being worked on, and it will also affect the cryptation of the data.
I will hopefully release a new version today with:
Site URI clickable and opens in Webbrowser
Able to copy Username/Password/description
Add accound page fixed
Looks nice. But I have one question, can I import passwords database in kdb format (create on PC using KeePassX)? When not are you plan to make this function?
EDIT
Ups, didn't see that is for WP7.
Cool. I shall wait for the new version..I will post the video as soon as I get my hands on the new version. Ability to open link in the new browser, masterkey, ability to copy-paste will definitely make this application much more useful.Al the best.

[Collection] Zooper design ressources (Fonts, Wallpaper, Device Frames,...)

This collection is meant to be a central gathering point for anyone who is looking for some sources of material to use in their widget design. I'll start it with some of my personal favorites in the different categories and hopefully other can help this grow through their contributions :fingers-crossed:
If you have questions concerning the collection or if you want to name some sources of your own, so they can be added to this collection, please feel free to post in this thread.
If you are looking for tutorials, guides and references for Zooper itself, please have a look at my other thread [REF] Zooper Guides, References and Advanced Parameter Snippets or if you have a general question about Zooper though, please check the General Zooper Forum or the Q&A thread. Thank you for helping to keep this thread on topic :good:

Apps
First I want to start off with some app that I use nearly every time when designing/working with Zooper. These are just my personal favorites and if you have an alternative app for the same job, please post about it so I can add it to the list.
Gallery/Imagepicker: QuickPic - For the currently best available gallery app on Android. Simple design, not too overloaded with functions and it just works great
Wallpaper: Wallbase HD Wallpapers - The app version of one of the wallpaper sites. Works really well, great selection and a good search function
File manager: ES File Explorer - My go-to file manager on Android. Root capabilities, tabbed file browsing, advanced functionality like zip/unzip, all that and more rolled into one awesome, free package.
Archive manager: ZArchiver - Can unpack nearly any know compression format. Essential if you download stuff directly to your device and your file manager doesn’t support compressed archives.
Fonts
For fonts, my personal favorite is Font Squirrel. They have a huge collection of great looking, free fonts and the best part: all their fonts are guaranteed to have a commercial compatible license. So if your are looking for a nice font to replace Roboto in your designs go check it out: http://www.fontsquirrel.com
While Font Squirrel is my main source for fonts, there are other noteworthy sites I like to check for fonts:
Google Fonts - Also has a good collection of free fonts and a pretty niffty search (Google, d’uh ), that helps you narrow down those choices https://www.google.com/fonts/
Dafont - My main site before I discovered Font Squirrel, as it has a very broad collection of different types of fonts. http://www.dafont.com
To use your new discoveries, download them to your phone. Most times they will be in a ZIP, so you’ll need a filemanager with the abilitie to extract these or use an app like ZArchiver (see Apps category). The extracted or downloaded fonts should be in either TTF or OTF format (check the file extension). Copy those files to either /sdcard/fonts/ or /sdcard/ZooperWidget/Fonts/ and they will show up the next time you are going to select the font familly on a Text or Rich Text module.
Wallpaper/Backgrounds
Here are some sites I check if I’m looking for a new background or pictures
http://www.simpledesktops.com/
http://www.thepaperwall.com
http://wallbase.net

Device Frames
To show of your newly created widgets you probably want to share a screenshot. While you could just upload and be done with it, it certainly looks so much nice if you have the frame of your device around it. So here are some possible ways how to do this.
Device Frame Generator
DFG is an app to generate your device shoots directly on your devic, no other tools necessary. It currently supports the Nexus range, HTC One, HTC One X, Samsung Galaxy Note, Samsung Galaxy S III, Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 and Motorola Xoom
Website: http://f2prateek.com/android-device-frame-generator/
Play Store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.f2prateek.dfg
Device Art Generator
If you are on a PC and own a Nexus device, you can also use this website to generate your device screen shot. Just drag and drop the picture onto the device you want and you can download the now framed screenshot instantly. This works with Firefox and Chrome and needs no installation.
https://developer.android.com/distribute/promote/device-art.html
Photoshop/GIMP
Probably the most versatile, even if not the fastest, to make your screenshots stand out is to go with an image editing software like Photoshop or GIMP. For those there is a nearly endless amount of really nice, high quality templates out there. Here is a list of some great sources:
http://www.dribble.com - Dribbble is probably one of your best sources for this. Just do a search like “<device> psd”, for example “nexus 4 psd” and you’ll find lots and lots of gorgeous templates for you to work with.
http://www.deviantart.com - If you can’t find what you are looking for on dribble, you can also try the same search on deviantart. This will probably yield more screenshots then PSDs but there ought to be some gems to discover here too.
[Devices][PSDs] Flat Designs.. Another great source is this nice collection of flat designed device PSDs for a lot of different devices from Samsung, Motorola, Sony, etc.right here on XDA by Recognized Themer DD-Ripper

[Oct 27] Official XDA One Forum App [Alpha] [APK] Version 0.1.14

XDA One has a successor. It's called XDA Labs. Click here to get it
Greetings all!
When we launched the 2015 new forum template, we promised that we were also getting ready to release XDA One, which is the first forum app for XDA developed entirely in-house (thanks to @tilal6991 for working on the code, @rwestergren for building the new API, @bitpushr for helping with server stuff, and @jerdog for his coordination). In its current (alpha) state, XDA One is a fast (and nice-looking) way to browse and post in the forums. You can access our mention/quote system, see your subscriptions, send PMs, and more. In the future we plan to add tools for moderators, integration with our Development Database, support for tablets, and more to make it the "One" place to experience all of XDA on mobile. :victory:
We have open sourced the app so that any can help make it better. Please access the XDA One GitHub repository to see the source code and/or to contribute. :highfive:
FAQ:
Why is this app in alpha?
It's not done yet and bugs still exist. As we put finishing touches on the app, we'll move closer to a beta release which will go on Google Play. Until then, we want XDA members to give it a try and help us find bugs.
What are you doing with XDA Free, XDA Premium, and Tapatalk? Will they still work?
For the foreseeable future, these apps will continue to be supported.
Why is it called "XDA One"?
As mentioned above, our vision for the app is for it to be the "One" place where you can experience all of XDA from your mobile device. In the future we will more deeply integrate the app into the site.
Are you going to charge for XDA One or will it be free?
Our plan is to make XDA One ad-supported.
I found a bug! Or, I have a feature request!
Post them in this thread. If reporting a bug, please describe the issue, steps to reproduce, and tell us what hardware and ROM (OS) you're using.
A couple of technical notes:
XDA One is developed using the Android Studio IDE. A simple debug build can be compiled using the XDA-One:assembleSimpleDebug gradle task. We will adopt the "Fork & pull" model of collaboration. Collaborators are encouraged to fork the project and submit pull requests for XDA's review, in order to be integrated back into the main release.

I was going to release this build last week but I had some issues with Marshmallows permission system. I didn’t realise Google had changed the protection level for External Storage access from normal to dangerous. So when I tried to download an attachment I got an FC. There is a slight issue with the dark and black theme, device images appear to have a white background. I’m not sure what to do with this, maybe disable the device images and revert to the placeholder Image?
Note: you may need to remove the old version before you install this one; I had some issues with my old signing keys.

Oh Goodie! Finally!
Installing now!
EDIT - Clean Crisp UI. Loving it!! Like the Gmail Style Refresh. Just one observation. When I am in Subscribed Thread list and press Home, relanching the app Brings me back to list of Forums not Subscribed threads. Don't like this part.
Bye Bye Crap A Talk!
Thanks guys, been using it for a day now and I made a list of stuff I ran into:
The search button should have be more prominent, it shouldn't disappear until the user is in a thread. It's still useful when in a sub-forum so it could be in the location of the star when in a thread.
The brown doesn't make a whole lot of sense anymore, it's nowhere to be found on the site so why is it still in the app?
When opening subscribtions I think subscribed threads should be the default view instead of subscribed forums, but I guess that depends on how users use the subscribtion functionality.
There's a lot of space in the blue square with the user-name and avatar in it, you could list the message, quote and mention counts there, and I'm not sure why my e-mail address is there?
Giving the new thread button such a prominent place doesn't make a lot of sense and I think it encourages posting a new thread instead of encouraging users to search.
There should be a way to add a device to "my devices" from the app, perhaps a star in the action bar just like the subscribe stars on the forum list when in a device forum?
The button for opening the "insert smilie" looks like a place-holder, but just to be sure it clashes like crazy with the rest of the interface. And I think "insert emoticon" would be a better name for the interface.
This is meant in the most constructive way possible, I've just been reading a lot on interaction design and couldn't help myself. I'll try and fiddle with the color scheme a bit this weekend, I have something like this in mind.
Thanks @svetius and @Woody for linking me.
Reporting back in a few minutes.
I like this color scheme, and this is exactly the kind of thing we were hoping to see when developing this app. Looking forward to seeing your contributions!
Thanks @svetius and @Judge Joseph Dredd

Please make sure that before you install this you are fully aware that it is an ALPHA (it even says so in it's title ). So there WILL be bugs. Best way that you can help the awesome team that put this together is by submitting a "proper" bug report with a logcat attached.
Don't know how to pull a logcat? Well I have just the thread for you. [GUIDE] Easiest Way to Utilize Catlog Believe me, a logcat and bug report go soooo much further than, "It's broke. Please fix". We've been using this for about a month and it has come along tremendously since then.
Also note that a Bug Report is not the same thing as a Feature Request. Knowing the difference will help everyone out in the long run.
Will install it, let's see how good it is!
Sent from my GT-P3110 using XDA Free mobile app
Using the app now, really smooth. Would like to select what screen the app will open on (subscribed, notifications, news, etc). Also the reply UI is a little cramped, maybe if you widen the text area it will make it look a lot more comfortable.
I also agree with the previous post the the smiley icon clashes with the entire UI.
Also, I now that the hamburger drawer is the Android way to go, but I think it would be better if I don't have to scroll through it. Add a settings button or merge a few options in to one so that all the links information fits on one screen.
I appreciate the hard work, looks awesome and I look forward to the finished product.
Been waiting a long time for this and will take it for a spin! Cool
So, I've been using it for a while and it looks amazing! The design is waaaay better now, and everything's more clean! Thanks for the nice app
Yay!!
Ohhh yeah been waiting for this since the forum redesign and svetius mentioning an app in the comments on portal. For an alpha, this is fantastic! Great work all involved :highfive:
Edit : I couldn't find a way to edit my post... So I'm editing my post from Tapatalk which reinforced this statement... Xda one SMOKES Tapatalk for speed. Absolutely annihilates it
I am loving this! Be testing starting now!
@Nick Fury, the new version is available now.
I've been looking forward to this release for months and months now (probably even longer - dependant on when I first saw it mentioned) and am glad to see it's here and working great with it sure to get even better in future releases.
The only thing I've noticed so far is that checking new mentions/quotes doesn't clear them from the site. I realize it's only an alpha though so there'll be a lot which isn't included yet
