The purpose of this guide is to walk you through the process of rooting your phone running 2.3.3 ONLY! I will do the best I can to make this as painless as possible and help you achieve your goals of S-Off.
***THIS THREAD IS ONLY FOR OBTAINING S-OFF, OBTAINING ROOT, AND INSTALLING CLOCKWORK MOD RECOVERY! ANY QUESTION REGARDING INSTALLING ROMS DO NOT BELONG HERE AND WILL NOT BE ANSWERED! ONLY ISSUES REGARDING ROOT WILL BE ANSWERED BY MYSELF OR OTHER MEMBERS.***
What you will need: (** = File is attached to OP)
Windows XP or higher (Thats all I have, someone else with MAC and/or Linux will need to assist and I can add it to the OP)
http://revolutionary.io/ .:UPDATE:. PRE4 now available
This site is where you will download the rooting tools and obtain a beta key. When you click on the download button for your OS, make sure you view the box that pops up requesting your OS version, phone model, HBoot version, and phone serial number. Without doing this you cannot root your phone so do it or you are screwed. There are two ways to get your phone serial number: 1) Remove the battery and look at the white sticker or 2) On your phone, go to Settings -> About Phone -> Phone Identity and under Device Serial Number you will see it. After you receive your code COPY AND PASTE it onto a word document or notepad because there are times when you will get confused with the font type from the Revolutionary site. Example, in my beta key, the lower case L looks exactly like the capital I and it threw me off. Also, the key IS case sensitive so keep that in mind.
If running windows, you will need these drivers:
http://downloads.unrevoked.com/HTCDriver3.0.0.007.exe
If running Linux, reports show that you do not need any drivers.
If running Mac OS, I currently do not know so someone please let me know and I will update.
http://goo-inside.me/superuser/su-2.3.6.3-efgh-signed.zip **
This file is required to obtain ROOT AFTER you have S-Off.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=630611&stc=1&d=1308537076 (LINUX) **
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/33327355/cwm-4.0.1.4-vivow.img **
These two items are in case Revolutionary tool fails to install CWM on your phone OR if you want to do this offline at another location. Fastboot and abd tool is the software that will take the img file of CWM and flash it onto your phone after S-OFF is obtained.
Prepping your Phone:
Turn off FAST BOOT in the settings located: SETTINGS -> POWER
Turn on Unknown Sources: SETTINGS -> APPLICATIONS
Turn on USB Debugging: SETTINGS -> APPLICATIONTS -> DEVELOPMENT
Installing Root:
1 - First, install the HTC drivers on your computer. It is a very simple step and you should have no issues doing this at all. Also look at your installed programs list and confirm HTC Sync is not installed. This will stop your device from being detected by Revolutionary to other problems when rooting.
2 - Extract the Fastboot and ABD zip file onto the root of your local disk drive (ex. C:\android-win-tools )
3 - Copy/Cut and Paste the CWM img file into the Fastboot and ABD folder (ex. C:\android-win-tools\cwm-4.0.1.4-vivow.img) Doing this will prep your PC to flash CWM in the event the Revolutionary tool does not download and install it.
4 - Place phone in "Disk Drive" mode then Copy/Cut and Paste the root su zip file (do not extract it) onto the root of your SDCard on your phone (ex. x:\su-2.3.6.3-efgh-signed.zip )
5 - Place phone in "Charge Only" mode. A lot ot people run into issues and not realize this was not selected.
6 - Run the Revolutionary file now that everything is set to go.
7 - You will get a prompt to enter your beta code. This is the code you received when you downloaded the revolutionary file and entered the information to obtain the beta key.
8 - Sit back and WAIT while the application does what is needed. This process will take anywhere from 3 to 5minutes so be PATIENT.
9 - Upon completion, you will get a prompt to install CWM. Say yes here! Once done skip to step 10.
9a - If the revolutionary app crashes or fails to download/install, leave your phone in the state it is (HBoot mode and should say "Fastboot USB". Open a command prompt in windows (Start - Run - type CMD).
9b - If you did exactly as told, type "CD.." until you see "C:\"
9c - Type the following:
CD android-win-tools
fastboot flash recovery cwm-4.0.1.4-vivow.img
9d - This process takes about 30sec max. Almost done!!!
10 - On your phone, back track to the main menu of HBoot using the volume keys and Power button and select recovery (2nd Option). In a few seconds your will be in CWM.
11 - As long as you copied the signed zip file to the root of your sdcard, perform the following:
"Install Zip From SDCard" (5th Option)
"Choose Zip From SDCard" (2nd Option)
Select the root/su zip file (su-2.3.6.3-efgh-signed.zip)
Choose Yes and wait.
Back track to main menu and reboot
12 - Give yourself a pat on the back for paying attention and have a cookie!
I am typing this on my tablet/phone/pc so if an error exists, please let me know right away and I will update the OP. Again, questions here are ONLY for rooting. Anything else...kick yourself in the head, do a real search, and post if needed.

The incredible 2 is definitely an option when obtaining a beta key. Unless you are refering to something else?

My bad, my work computer is crappy, the 2 does not show up on my browser lol
NICE, this thread should be sticky.
On a side note, make sure you have your phone connected to wifi or 3G if you want the revolutionary tool to download and install the CWM automatically. If not then you would have to flash the CWM manually per the instruction from OP.

I went to the site just now and HTC DROID Incredible 2 is the 6th option down in the device list. If it still doesn't show up, test another pc or try it on your phone. All you need is the key anyways.

Awesome thanks but question. my computer keeps saying usb device not recognized every like 5 seconds when my phone is connected and in bootloader. Is that suppose to be like that?

I will say it is okay as this happens to my PC as well. The files still transfer and CWM flashes through fastboot as well.

Mmk. I downloaded ROM Manager but everytime i start it up it says "You must root your phone for ROM Manager to function. Superuser was not found at "/system/bin/su/" or "system/xbin/su"
I have the file on the root of the sdcard and im pretty sure i rooted it with revolutionary and installed CWM as well.
Ok... Dumb question... where do we find the fastboot and adb zips to install on the C drive??
I have gotten thru step 8 and failed whentrying to install CWM. I manually installed it with step 9 and it said finished. Step 10 says to select recovery but it is not listed. I rebooted to see if that would work but it didnt. Where did I go wrong?
EDIT: Actually it did work just was trying to hard. Thanks for the great instructions.
@ Darkpsycho0
try installing busybox from the market and give it a try again.
@PacerguyDon
The links are in the OP.
It's next to the one that has the img file as well. There is only one zip file and it contains both items in it.
@Flightmed
Power down, and get back into HBoot. You will see the following options:
Fastboot
Recovery
Factory Reset
Simlock
Hboot Usb
Image CRC
The second option (Recovery) is what you want.
EDIT: Glad you got it working!!!

Busybox said "Root not found! The su binary was not found on your phone." -_____-
Thinking about it and looking back...I didn't complete the instructions on applying root. I apologize to you and everyone else.
When you have CWM installed, open it up through recovery. Next, as long as you copied the signed zip file to the root of your sdcard, select "Install Zip From SDCard" (5th Option).
Select "Choose Zip from SDCard" (2nd Option)
Select the zip file (su-2.3.6.3-efgh-signed.zip)
Choose Yes and wait. Once done, reboot and you should be good!
Again, I apologize. I will update main post asap!

That worked.. no more error thanks. I was about to throw my phone across the room especially since while i was waiting for replies I was trying to just install new themes but can't get Astros to work with the apk files correctly. -_- (still can't)
I'm already rooted via 2.2 but this is a great guide for the truly n00b.
Should be seeing lots of new members posting in the development section soon ;!)

THIS IS A DETAILED GUIDE TO SHOW YOU HOW TO ROOT, BOOTLOADER-UNLOCK AND INSTALL CUSTOM RECOVERY AND ROMS ON YOUR LG OPTIMUS G E970/1/3 with a Windows PC. I will add to/edit it as necessary, and will probably beautify it a bit soon enough as well.

The Dropbox files I’ve linked here are from my own account, so rest assured everything is safe. I will be posting mirrors soon (or replacing if necessary).
A full list of “thanks” will be at the end.
PLEASE follow all the instructions carefully. I will try to help as much as I can, but I am in no way a developer. Just a guy who loves messing with stuff, especially these awesome devices. The #lg-optimus-g IRC chanel is always great help along with great folks here.

PRE-GAME CHECKLIST
COMPUTER PREP – Install the following before proceeding any further. If you know for sure you’ve got these taken care of, go ahead to the next section.
1) ADB/FASTBOOT/APX DRIVER - DOWNLOAD: https://www.dropbox.com/s/v7duwo5l09dky8n/Universal_Naked_Driver_0.72.zip
- This driver, in part, is needed for your phone to properly communicate with the PC for our needs. That goes for any Android device, so this is definitely a must have. For more details and discussion/help > http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=19960512) LG DEVICE DRIVER - DOWNLOAD: https://www.dropbox.com/s/dho1z4hdkyezkgp/LGUnitedMobileDriver.zip
- Just like most USB devices, your phone relies on this to communicate with your PC.3) Make sure you have 7Zip, WinRAR, WinZIP or another similar application installed on your computer to be able to extract archives.
- Download 7zip here: http://www.7-zip.org/download.html
PHONE PREP - you will need the USB cable, and your phone needs to have internet connection for the bootloader unlock section. I recommend having JellyBean installed already, the OTA upgrade method is fine with stock before you use this guide. I haven't tried or had any info on anyone else trying this with stock Ice Cream Sandwich, so I'm not sure about the compatibility there.
MEAT AND POTATOES
-ROOT-
1) Download the root package here > https://www.dropbox.com/s/fib80m6q9jzcj4t/ZV9-ZVB-Universal-Root.zip > and extract it to a folder.
2) Connect your phone to your computer with the USB cable and CHANGE THE CONNECTION TYPE TO “CHARGE ONLY” IN NOTIFICATIONS. This is important for the next step.
3) Open the folder you extracted to and double click the batch file “CurrentRoot” or “CurrentRoot.bat”.
4) The on-screen instructions are pretty clear for this part. To sum it up:
a. You’ll need to wait for the phone to be recognized, then you’ll be asked to change the USB mode to “MTP” - you must do this in order to proceed. Press Enter.
b. You may see some error and “daemon” messages along the way here. Don’t be alarmed by those, focus on the prompts.
c. Once you see “uid=0(root) gid=0(root)” you will be prompted to press Enter again. If you don’t get that, reboot your computer and repeat from step 2.
d. At the end, you should see a message that says you’ve been properly rooted. Press any key to continue, your phone should automatically be rebooted (if not, manually do so).
e. Open your app drawer and run the app called SuperSU and ensure it runs with no errors. *IF YOU DON'T HAVE SuperSU IN YOUR APP DRAWER, DOWNLOAD/INSTALL/RUN IT FROM THE PLAY STORE!*
f. You can download any root-required app from the Play Store (Root Checker is easy if you can’t think of one) to verify that you are properly rooted. Congratulations!
-UNLOCK BOOTLOADER AND INSTALL CUSTOM RECOVERY-
This section is done through an app, right in the Play Store thanks to Project FreeGee (XDA thread for thanks - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2001655). If you can, make sure to go there and give thanks to thecubed (and Shellnutt2) for this amazing app and all their efforts. Please get the $1 version if you can as well, it’s beyond worth it.
Head on over to the Play Store and download the app “FreeGee **ROOT Required**” or do it on your PC - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=edu.shell.freegee&hl=en ($1 – if you can this would be the one to go for) OR https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=edu.shell.freegee_free&hl=en (free version). Run the app and grant it root permissions. FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY!
1) In the app, ignore the main buttons and click Menu > SBL Unlock method.
2) Click “Get Unlock Code” – a browser window will open up. Here will be a hardcore disclaimer by Shelnutt2, and it should be taken seriously since there IS a possibility of something going wrong. The chances are EXTREMELY SLIM, but the disclaimers have to be put in place.
3) Enter your name (username for forums is the best way to go), click the checkbox, enter the CAPTCHA, and click “Submit”.
4) The next page will have your code. Copy it and go back to the FreeGee app.
5) Paste the code into the field and click “ok”. You should get a confirmation message that you’ve enabled the SBL Unlock method.
6) On the app’s main screen, click “Unlock my phone” and wait for the download to finish.
7) You’ll be asked to choose a recovery version. I personally use ClockworkMOD, but many people like TWRP. It shouldn’t make a difference at the end of the day, you can look into both and decide if you’d like. Choose one, and proceed through all the dialogue boxes, accepting everything. Your phone will eventually reboot.
8) To verify this was done properly, after the reboot you can reboot again into recovery mode. The easy way to do this is to download QuickBoot from the Play Store and use that. Otherwise:
a. Power off your phone
b. Press and hold the PWR button, while holding down the VOL-UP/VOL-DOWN buttons at the same time (I’ve seen VOL-UP/PWR as instructions, I haven’t been able to get it to work myself like that but YMMV).
c. You’ll see a black screen with some small writing in the bottom-left corner. Nothing will actually respond on-screen at this point, don’t worry.
d. Press VOL-DOWN twice, then press PWR.
e. Your custom recovery should now boot up. Here, you can backup your current software (DO THAT RIGHT AWAY), reboot the phone into whichever mode you want, and install custom ROMs (more and that after the break).
JOB WELL DONE. NOW WHAT DO YOU DO?
The very first thing I recommend you do is BACKUP YOUR EFS PARTITIONS!! Head over to this thread by autoprime on XDA: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2161611&highlight=efs - this is important to have in case things go wrong down the road.
Now you have the freedom to do quite a bit, most notably install custom ROMs. It’s important to read through the entire original post of a ROM’s thread. The developer has put everything there for a reason, follow it to the tee! Methods of installation for ROMs may slightly vary. Use the files they link only and don’t stray from their installation instructions.
A loose reference to the most common method is:
a. Wipe data/factory reset
b. Wipe cache
c. Wipe dalvik cache
d. Install ROM file
e. Install GApps file
f. Wipe data/factory reset again (usually good measure regardless)
g. Reboot system

Click on the box that says CWM-6.0.4.7 you should get a message that gives you an option to select an unlock (either Classic or MAKO). MAKO is the replacement for SBL, and it worked just fine for my device.
Ok, help. I recently switched from my Samsung Galaxy 3 to this Optimus G I got. I downloaded all the necessary files, but when i connect the phone to the usb connector. INSTALLATION
Auto-Method
1) Extract the contents of the RAR file.
2) Double-click "Install.bat".
3) Prompt will open, click any button to proceed.
4) RSA Fingerprint message will appear on the phone (accept).
5) After installation procedure, type "y" and press enter to reboot into recovery!
1st Manual Method: Initiate ADB and use the following code.
Code:
[COLOR="DarkOrange"]REPLACE "XXX" WITH THE ACTUAL IMG NAME! DO NOT TYPE THE ORANGE WRITING![/COLOR]
adb push XXX.img /data/local/tmp/XXX.img
adb shell
[COLOR="DarkOrange"]IF YOU DONT SEE A # prompt, type su to get it.[/COLOR]
cd /data/local/tmp
dd if=/data/local/tmp/XXX.img of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/recovery
[COLOR="DarkOrange"]Be sure to replace "data/local/tmp" with the actual place your img is stored.[/COLOR]
exit
adb reboot recovery
2nd Manual Method: Place the img on your phone, then use a terminal emulator app with the following code.
Code:
[COLOR="DarkOrange"]REPLACE "XXX" WITH THE ACTUAL IMG NAME! DO NOT TYPE THE ORANGE WRITING![/COLOR]
su
dd if=/data/local/tmp/XXX.img of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/recovery
[COLOR="DarkOrange"](Be sure to replace "data/local/tmp" with the actual place your img is stored.)[/COLOR]
Optional Method: If you want to run some safety checks first, use loki [method here as first option].
INSTALL THEME MANUALLY
1) Connect your phone to your PC.
2) Go into your "internal storage" (internal SD card).
3) Find and open the TWRP folder.
4) Add a folder called "theme".
5) Place the ui.zip into the "theme" folder.
ENTER RECOVERY
Method 1: Hold the power button + volume down button until the LG image appears. Once it does let go of the buttons then immediately push and hold them again until recovery boots.
NOTE: The method above will arrive at the "hard reset" area, but when choosing hard reset, it will take you to TWRP (without actually resetting).
Method 2: Download the free app "Rebooter" from Google Play. If you have root, you will be able to select to reboot into recovery (among other options).
SLOW WIPE CACHE FIX
1) Once in TWRP, go into Settings.
2) Check off the box, "Use rm -rf instead of formatting."
3) Go back and now go into Wipe.
4) Wipe Cache (or another option with wiping cache).
Credit: Credit goes to Dees_Troy and wolfgart, djrbliss who made all recoveries for this phone possible, WACOMalt for his steps, and thecubed for his auto-install code.
USB-OTG
To access USB-OTG devices, go into the desired area (Install, Backup, or Restore). Select "Internal Storage" at the top. Press your USB-OTG device. It may take a second to show as selected on the screen. Once selected, press OK.
If your device does not show up, you can first try going to Mount and check off the USB-OTG box. If it doesn't allow you to check the box, then it doesn't support that device.
NOTE: It may not work with OTG cables and USB devices...
MISC.
Folder Name - There is an "issue" with the date and time [1970]. This issue is reflected in the backup folder names. There are two options to change a backup folder name:
Go into recovery and select Restore. Select the folder you wish to rename. There should now be an option to change the backup folder name.
Go into your TWRP folder by connecting to a PC or using a file explorer and change the backup folder name.
Time Zone - The time zone may be wrong but can be changed in Settings.

I've noticed the time changing for certain things. One restore I did took nearly 30 minutes! I did restore after that took less than 10. As long as it works, that's all that matters! :good:
I'm on a Recovery Loop. Selected Reboot > System and it keeps rebooting to TWRP.
Used Flashify btw.

Did you have a recovery before this installed? If so, what recovery? Did you have a good WiFi connection when you downloaded the file (i.e @home, @restaurant, etc.)? Did you try any other methods before flashify?
This should be fixable in either case. If you have a backup from before, I suggest restoring. If not, then you may have to follow this guide to unbrick your phone.
Oddly enough, I'll be in Singapore tomorrow, but I won't be able to reply until late night.
Works perfectly. Thanks!

Yes. I have done so.
READ ME FIRST I am more than willing to help you guys, so if you have questions, please ask me via my facebook page, as I get notifications there instantly. http://facebook.com/vacationlandtech
Also of note, I no longer have a LG G2, and it has been a long time since I made this, if you can be as descriptive as possible when asking questions, that would help a lot. Also, because it has been quite a while since I've been in the G2 community, I'm not up to speed on anything newer than early November, 2014. I don't have experience with ZVE+, CM12+, CloudyG3, etc. so if you have problems with new ROMs and software, get help from the people who make/support those ROMs and software.
Good luck!!
So I've been helping around the forums with people trying to install CyanogenMod on the Sprint LG G2 (LS-980). I have done this successfully and will outline my steps to do so below. A small caveat – I've only gotten this to work the way I'll outline below. I've tried getting CyanogenMod after the LS980ZVA/C/D OTA and no matter what I do I cannot get it to work. That being said, let's get to it.
Edit: I've added videos!!
Part 1: http://youtu.be/NRwlxeUprZE
Part 2: http://youtu.be/7rohyf_W13k
Part 3: http://youtu.be/Uw3J5ZTb3ro
*REMEMBER* - Always create Nandroid backups before flashing a ROM or doing anything, really.
Required Materials (some of these files (LS980ZV8_13.TOT) are over 2GB, FYI):
EDIT: I have put all the required files into a .ZIP archive and uploaded it to Mega
There has been a report that that the CyanogenMod .zip in my file is corrupt. You can still download the file I uploaded, just get CyanogenMod from the link below.
Update: I uploaded *just* the LS980ZV8_13.TOT file to Mega. Here is the link (beware it's not zipped, it's over 3GB).
Code:
* LS980ZV8_13.TOT - [URL]http://storagecow.eu/Xda/LG%20G2/Stock/Sprint/LS980ZV8_13.zip[/URL]
* LGLS980_20130904_LGFLASHv151.dll - [URL]http://storagecow.eu/Xda/LG%20G2/Stock/Sprint/LGLS980_20130904_LGFLASHv151.dll[/URL]
* LG Flash Tool - [URL]http://storagecow.eu/Xda/LG%20Software/TOT%20FlashTool/Setup_LGFlashTool_1.8.1.1023.exe[/URL]
* MegaLock.dll - [URL]http://storagecow.eu/Xda/LG%20Software/TOT%20FlashTool/MegaLock.dll[/URL]
* IOroot25 - [URL]http://downloads.codefi.re/autoprime/LG/ioroot/ioroot.zip[/URL]
* LG G2 (Verizon) USB Driver - [URL]http://tool.xcdn.gdms.lge.com/dn/downloader.dev?fileKey=UW00520120427[/URL]
* GApps - [url]https://s.basketbuild.com/gapps[/url]
Now, back up any files you want to keep from your phone. This process will remove EVERYTHING from your phone INCLUDING Internal Storage! Also install the USB Driver.
Let's get to it (please read all instructions before doing anything):
Resetting to Stock
Required files: LG Flash Tool, MegaLock.DLL, LS980ZV8_13.TOT, USB Drivers.
1. Install LG Flash Tool , but don't launch it yet!
2. Copy MegaLock.DLL to the root of the installation directory of LG Flash Tool.
3. Launch LG Flash Tool.
4. Check “Manual Mode”
5. Browse to the .DLL file you downloaded by clicking the “...” button to the right of the first text box.
6. Browse to the .TOT file (it'll have to be unzipped) by doing the same thing for the 2nd box.
7. Click okay, then click the green arrow at the top right of the window.
8. Wait for one of the boxes to turn green and say “Ready”
9. Turn off your phone.
10. Plug in the phone to your computer while holding the Vol+ key to put your phone in download mode.
11. Open Device Manager on your computer by pressing Win+R and typing “devmgmt.msc” without the quotes, then pressing enter.
12. Scroll down to “Ports” and expand it.
13. There will be an Android entry, right click it and select “Properties”
14. Select the Port Settings tab, and select Advanced.
15. Change the port number to 41.
16. You may have to unplug and reconnect your phone.
17. The box that said ready should now have some messages inside it (ie. “Waiting for connection.” and stuff about phone checks).
18. Allow the flash tool to do its job, after anywhere between 10 minutes and half an hour the phone will be done resetting. In my experience, the flash tool will always say there was an error after the phone reboots, this is because the phone reboots into Android, but the flash tool has done everything it needs, don't worry!
19. You can now unplug your phone and close LG Flash Tool.
20. Your phone is now on stock LG firmware LS980ZV8!
** - If you're going on to flash CyanogenMod, get through the initial set up, let the phone activate, but don't worry about getting apps or settings, they'll be gone after we flash CM.
Rooting
Required files: IOroot25, USB Drivers
** - I'm going to write this as if you've just reset to stock firmware.
1. Navigate to Settings > About Phone > Software Information
2. Tap on Build Number 7 times, or until there is a pop-up stating that “You are now a developer!”
3. Go back to Settings
4. Go into Developer Settings
5. Enable USB Debugging
6. Plug your phone into your computer.
** - If there is a RSA Fingerprint pop-up, accept it and check Remember this fingerprint
7. Navigate to Ioroot (you may have to extract/unzip the files) and execute root.BAT
8. Follow the on-screen instructions.
** - Note that Ioroot automatically backs up your EFS partition, make sure to keep these files in a safe location, as they can come in handy if something goes wrong.
9. After Ioroot is finished, you can close the program, unplug your phone and disable USB debugging.
10. You're now rooted, you may verify by downloading a Root Checker app from the Google Play Store.
Installing a Custom Recovery
Required Files: None
1. On your phone, navigate to the Google Play Store.
2. Search for FreeGee and install it.
3. Open FreeGee and allow it to download the device list.
4. After the download is finished, you will see a changelog list, close this.
5. Tap on install TWRP (or CWM if you're more comfortable with ClockWork Mod).
** - I recommend TeamWin Recovery Project for newer users because it is more end-user friendly, touch-capable, etc.
6. Wait for FreeGee to do its thing, then you have a custom recovery installed.
7. If you want to, let FreeGee reboot you into Recovery in order to verify.
Installing CyanogenMod 11
Required Files: CyanogenMod 11 ZIP, USB Drivers
** - Get the CyanogenMod 11 ZIP from https://download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=ls980 I recommend using the latest SNAPSHOT – get the NIGHTLY only if there are problems with the SNAPSHOT.
1. Place the CM 11 ZIP on the root directory of your internal storage.
2. Power off your phone (without it plugged in).
3. Turn on your phone holding PWR+VOL-Down until the screen says “Recovery mode”
** - The screen may say something about a factory reset, in this case press the power button 3 times and you'll be brought into recovery.
4. Tap on install
5. Scroll down to the CM 11 ZIP and tap it
6. Follow the instructions and when prompted to wipe the dalvik and cache, select yes.
** - you may have to do an advanced wipe and select everything except for internal storage, but do this only if CyanogenMod doesn't install properly.
7. You now have CyanogenMod 11 on your phone!
**- You will have to install GApps in order to access the Google Play Store and other Google Apps. You can download it using the browser on your phone or by transferring the .zip file to the root of your phone.
**- To install GApps just boot into recovery, select Install, and navigate to the GApps .zip. Swipe to install.
If you have any questions or any issues, just let me know. Not everything is accurate as I don't have access to Windows right now so I'm going based off memory. I plan on reinstalling Windows 8.1 Professional and making a video to go along with this. If at any point throughout this walkthrough you find inaccurate information or something goes wrong, let me know and I'll help out/update the article. Good luck!
Thanks so much for your sharing this. I have downgrade my phone from ZVD to ZV7 and get it rooted and CM11 installed. However, I found CM11 is not stable and my GPS module didn't work now. Could you recommend a everyday-use ROM with tethering capability? Many thanks.

Never, I repeat NEVER flash or install ANYTHING that is not specifically for your phone!! This is the fastest way to brick your device, possibly permanently. I understand that you have already unlocked your phone, but you've done so on a stock ROM. What I was saying is follow my instructions to install CyanogenMod (the LS980 version) on your phone, then (re)unlock it following the instructions at the thread I linked to. I'm not sure how to unlock on CM11, but it can be done: LG G2 LS980 GSM UNLOCKED!: http://youtu.be/r8XCpm046-k

I did try and after a lot of got it to work CM11, you only need ZV8 modem/radio.
Had problems with the GPS even try a lot of apps none of them got it to work, then change the gps.conf file for the orginal LG conf and worked great. The only ROM that the GPS worked since the start was PA all of the others are based on CM so the file wont work, at least for me.
The gps.conf file its on "etc" folder.
CM really its great but to me Omni and most of all that i try in this days (trying to get a good GPS just to play Ingress) Its PA
Good luck

I've never had an issue with CyanogenMod. If you wipe before you install and don't do anything funky with it you shouldn't have a problem. Following my instructions CyanogenMod works flawlessly (for me at least).

Good luck!

I am in the process of resetting everything back to stock. However, I was reading other articles and it mentioned that you must choose the correct files that correspond to either the 16gigs or 32 gigs. In this set of instructions however, it only provides users with one zv8 file for download. I just don't want to mess something up by using the incorrect files. Would appreciate someone's help. Thanks

I have seen what you're talking about elsewhere but I don't believe that this applies in this situation. I have the 32GB LS980, and haven't had an issue, still have all my storage space. From everything that I've gathered from the internet when learning how to do everything a wrote the size doesn't matter. If you're still concerned I can do some more digging, but I don't think you'll have a problem.

Glad to help. If you feel unsure about anything I'm also working on a video to upload to YouTube as well (after I finish it I'll edit the OP) that goes over the process. Good luck.

Need step by Step instructions please
Hello
I am a novice with many of the tools listed & the steps outlined, can somebody please help with step by step instructions,
maybe email me [email protected]
:good:
Thanks. For my XPERIA T2 ULTRA DUAL I had to made a change:
Instead of using the Recovery-Software you (rituraj_singh) offered I had to use the software (TWRP) recommended b abcdjdj in his post from 27th May 2014 ((D5322) Dual Recovery) on the XDA-Forum.
For the not-experienced Users of Androxyde Xperia Flash Tool: You can use the XperiFirm-Software (XI-Button in the Flash-Tool) and install the 5.0.1 (19.3.A.0.472)-Firmware from MELA Latin, but you have to overwrite also the Userdata and the Apps-Log, otherwise there are problems. After flashing use KingRoot to root your device, than replace kinguser using the batch-script of w0lfdroid.com (May 2015) placing the mrw-folder (included in the downloaded zip) on the intern memory (important) and executing it with Terminal Emulator. Than open SuperSu (installed by the script, not by you), and actualize the root-script. Afterwards reboot.
A Tip: After having installed the TWRP-Software on your phone you could have problems rebooting into the system, so prepare all and after having flashed the custom prf-rom on the device all would be function!
A step-by-step-Version (summary)

Here comes a step-by-step-Version (summary) of all the "Posts"s needed for rooting Lollipop 5.1.1 on your Sony Xperia T2 Ultra (Dual).
The copyright is by the "Post"-authors like rituraj_singh and abcdjdj (I took the links to the posts nearby the description of the step) and by w0lfdroid.com, xperiafirmware.com and the software-producers.
I only wanted to create a step-by-step-summary. There is no garantuee which garantuees success using the summery! No responsability dad it does not destroy your mobilephone. Use it at your own risk! Thank you to the original "owners" of the posts. I hope the summary is ok for them! Otherwise contact me.
Time: maybe 1 hour or 2 hours
Tipp: if you until yet did not install Android 5.1.1 on your Xperia T2 Ultra Dual you do not have to follow the steps which are describing how to download the older Firmware via XperiFirm, but you should have installed the FlashTool just for the drivers (You won't use it directly). You can use the steps describing how to root the older Firmware using KingRoot, than continue with step 7.
1) Install the Androxyde FlashTool on your Computer: http://www.flashtool.net/downloads.php or found on the XDA-Forum, install the ADB-Packages (ADB, ADB-Drivers) on your Computer and make the ADB-Command part of the "path"-Variable of your Computers Terminal (see Google)
2) Install XperiFirm (cause easy for beginners): open the FlashTool and click on the "XF-button" near the "plus-in-a-square"-button and the "flash"-button.
3) After having installed the XperiFirm-Tool open it and click on "Xperia T2 Ultra (tianchi)" and select "D5322/XM50H (dual)"
4) Than click on the "Check-All"-Button over the Line "Latest Release"
5) Click on "MENA Latin" in the "Market"-Line and than on the "19.3.A.0.472 / R3C" and download it (having activated "unpack automatically")
6) Go to "xperiafirmware.com/8-firmware/58-sony-xperia-t2-ultra-dual-d5322" and download it (see chapter "1." on the website ), but do not flash it
7) Download the newest PRF-Creator (ZIP) from the following XDA-Forum-Link and unzip it: http://forum.xda-developers.com/crossdevice-dev/sony/tool-prfcreator-easily-create-pre-t2859904
8) Download the newest SuperSU-ZIP from chainfire (https://download.chainfire.eu/696/SuperSU). and paste the ZIP in the unzipped PRF-Creator-folder: https://download.chainfire.eu/696/SuperSU
9) Now copy the .ftf-file (Firmware) downloaded from xperiafirmware.com also in the unzipped PRF-Creator-folder and open the PRF-Creator.exe
10) The PRF-Creator asks for the .TFT-File (select the one you downloaded from xperiafirmware.com) and for the SuperSU-ZIP-File (select the one downloaded from chainfire)
11) Select in the "Include"-field: "Kernel"; "FOTA-Kernel"; "Modem" and "LTALable", also "Sign ZIP" and "Legacy Mode"
12) Click create and wait until finished
13) Copy the created "flashable-prerooted.zip" from your unzipped PRF-Creator-Folder to the external SD-Card of your Device
14) BackUp your mobilephone using the "Sony PC Companion" or simular software like Wondershare's "MobileGo"
14a) Control if you have unlocked your Boatloader (normally it's locked) and if it's locked, go to the "Sony Mobile Developers Unlock Bootloader Website" and follow the instructions there Important: You could have to install ADB and Sony's ADB-Drivers (find ADB using google) and the Sony FlashTool "Emma" will not work with the Xperia T2 Ultra Dual
15) Shut down your phone and start it holding the "Volume-down"-Button while plugging in the USB-Cable (it won't show more than a black screen)
16) Close "XperiFirm", wait until it finished and then click on the "Flash"-Button and select in the new window "Flashmode" and "OK" (obviously)
17) Select the Firmware you downloaded before with XperiFirm (19.3.A.0.472) and select in the "Wipe"-Field: "APPS_LOG" and "USERDATA" (!!!important!!! otherwise problems)
18) Click on the "Flash"-Button and wait until it's done (sometimes the flashtool has problems with the files - dont worry: shutdown the FlashTool and retry it once more)
19) Unplug the mobilephone from the USB-Cable, start it and follow the instructions
20) After having prepared the mobilephone go to "kingroot.net/wap/download" and download KingRoot (sometime trouble with the site, try it once more)
21) Afterwards enable the DeveloperMode (settings - About Phone - click "build number" 7 times) and enable the "unknown sources" (settings - Security - unknown sources)
22) Install KingRoot and root your Xperia T2 Ultra Dual
23) Install "Terminal Emulator" from the Google Play-Appstore to your device and open it
24) Go to "http://www.w0lfdroid.com/2015/05/How-to-Remove-Replace-KingUser-KingRoot-with-SuperSU.html" and download the newest "Replace KingUser with SuperSU.zip" and unpack it to your device's intern memory (!!!important!!! otherwise no function)
25) In the Terminal Emulator App enter "su" for gaining "root"-access ("Enter" obviously), than enter "sh /sdcard/mrw/root.sh" and wait until it finish (it will open SuperSU)
26) Actualize the file as requested by SuperSU and, after having had success, reboot your mobilephone
27) Install a Root-Checker-App from Google Play Store and control, if you see a window from "SuperSU", otherwise repeat the last steps
28) Go to "https://goo.gl/lg6I2t" or visit directly the XDA-Forum-Post of abcdjdj (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2764408) and download his "TWRP-KK-T2_DUAL-V3.img" or newer
29) Shut down your mobilephone. Afterwards hold the "Volume-Up"-Button while plugging in the USB-Cable (it shows only a black screen) and connect it to the Computer
30) Check if you have installed all fastboot drivers for your device, then open the "Command Line" of your Computer "as Administrator" and enter: "fastboot flash boot (path-to-the-file-downloaded-in-the-last-step)/TWRP-KK-T2_DUAL-V3.img" and click obviously "Enter"
31) Now unplug your mobilephone, than hold the "Volume-down"-Button and the "Power"-Button at the same time: TWRP-Recovery will start
32) Select "Wipe", than "Advanced Wipe", than select "intern. memory", "dalvik", "cache", "data" and "system"
33) Swipe to Wipe
34) Go to TWRP's home (twice times the "back"-Button) and select "Install", than "external SD-Card" and select "flashable-prerooted.zip" and confirm the warning, than SWIPE to INSTALL (flashing)
35) Wipe the Dalvik-Cache
36) Reboot into System and follow your mobilephone's instructions
37) Install a Root Checker App from Google Play Store and control if it's rooted, afterwards install the backup of your mobilephone made at the beginning
38) Install "Titanium Backup" and disinstall (after having done a backup of the app you want to delete) Apps you do not want
39) Install "Link-to-SD" from GooglePlay, prepare your external SD-Card with a partition manager (using your Computer) and copy all possible apps completly to the SD-Card

Well my friend, first at all, this is a awsome guide, it really help me to load the 5.1.1 on my SP. I Must said that even if this looks
overwhelming at the begining, it's pretty easy to do it.
Just for the FeedBack, this method works in:
T2 Ultra D5306 Single SIM, TELCEL.
I use the US CUSTOM Stock ROM 5.1.1 ( 19.4.A.0.182 ), if ask for the FTF, look at the FTF MEGAPOST.
Thanks to @rituraj_singh for find this method and @theokon to make the Easy-Mode Guide.
This thread must being Sticky.
PS: You have to add one step: When you reboot after the Flash, it can take a while in start the smartphone, It is to prevent panic if they see it takes a lot time to start, they might think it is bricked and try to restart it. :good:
This works great for rooting the phone (D5322) but for me link2sd doesn't read the 2nd partition and keeps giving me unable to mount errors.

You got the error when you try to mount on /dev/block/mmcblk1p2 ? it and said that the mount fail?
I had that error as well, maybe you have to try this @virgilone2:
1.- Uninstall the Link2SD.
2.- Install the SD MAID and run it, clean it up.
3.- Reinstall the Link2SD.
4.- Install the Recovery (I use this) [ XZDualRecovery 2.8.21 ] or the same you use in the guide.
5.- Run the Recovery, and go to Wipe > Advance Wipe > Davik Cache, Swipe to Wipe, after it ends go to Reboot > System.
6.- Before your smartphone start as usual, going to pop one little window with a counter, wait to end (Maybe take a while).
7.-Run you Link2SD, it have to Mount the ext2 partition and ask for reboot, if isnt the case, just recreate the mount script.
8.- Enjoy your Link2SD in Lollipop 5.1.1 :good:
This works for me, i hope works for you as well
Windows 10 Driver Problems
When having updated to Windows 10 driver problems could happen.
When entering "fastboot devices" in your computer's terminal and nothinh happens it is like this.
You can solve this easily:
1) Plug in your phone in fastboot mode into the computer (Volume Up + Plug-In of the USB-cable)
2) Go to the"Devices manager" (or called simular, as I don't know how to translate it correctly), where you will find the unknown S1 fastboot driver.
3) Download the official Sony flashing tool "EMMA" and reinstall the "Android Studio" in order to get the correct drivers
4) For security download also the "Universal ADB Drivers Package" from chip.de and install it
5) Back in the Device Manager reinstall the correct driver selecting it from the drivers list (!): Sony SA0110 - ADB Interface driver

Well thanks!! Links needed to perform the steps suggested are everywhere in the realm of Internet. Uploading same thing again and again is waste of space, data and everything. Hope you understand.
Ftf can be downloaded through xperi-firm and recovery can be downloaded from nut's Xperia files website. SuperSU is already available in more than 1000 places on Internet. And prf creator is created by a certain developer which is already available on xda. So reposting his item might be considered as kinda theft/plagiarism. And this is already mentioned in this post that it's a sequel of previous post. So please do your own bit of work/home work before posting negative comments.
