[Q] Need APKfile for Galaxy SII .......Gallery App. - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

My Samung SII Galaxy Epic 4G uses Gallery version 1.0.19 for photo viewing but seems to have been partially corrupted and will not show Albums. If I try to use any functions from the Gallery main screen, it goes to a black screen and locks up the phone. However, holding the power button does bring up the power options and I can restart. All other phone functions and apps work fine.
I think if an APK file is available, and I reinstall the app, it should overwrite or reinstall the corrupted file/s.
I did search the net and find an APK on Aptoide but am not sure how safe it is to use that open source OR LEGAL?
Any help on this?

check your PM

Ok, so to answer some things for you from the PM. You should be able to just install the apk and go about your business. You should not have any problems unless the orignal apk is corrupted. The 2 files you downloaded from @erikalin should be sufficent enough to get your gallery back. Keep her files handy as they are every file that comes with the phone. Another option is to install Google+. It will install a photo app for you, then you don't need to be rooted. My suggestion is to root. So many things you can do, even on TW which is what your on. Custom ROM's are the best thing to happen since sliced bread. @qbking77 has a website with everything also. You don't have to do anything except what the video tells you to do and you will be rooted with no loss of files from the internal storage. @rwilco12 has a website with stock stuff as well as the same files to completely root your phone on any modem for Sprint/Versizon/AT&T. I hope this help you and anyone else who is in need of stock apks.

Flash Player 10.1 Confirmed working

Yeah apk which is posted on forum tested working on my Galaxy S. Now browsing with flash.
Were can I find the apk? Thanks.
Are you sure it's not the Flash Lite 3.1 that is working?
http://galaxys.samsungmobile.com/specification/spec.html?ver=low
Here it states that SGS comes with it, not sure Flash 10.1 has overriden it.
APK Here its posted on Evo forums
Its 10.1.
Try it
wow if this is true it is amazing, i dont actually need to wait for 2.2 to come out
Thanks for the link.
couldnt get it to work, tried youtube.
It doesn't work.
Edit: Used Astro Apps manager to uninstall. But before that, tried to launch it directly. A popup message said that Activity not found.
Went to check @ www.whatismyflash.com, and it stated clearly no flash was installed.
Didn't work for me either :-(
Wow for a second I thought that it really will work and I dont need 2.2..... check it before posting false info -.-
whatismyflash does work for me though.. Also some sites seem to work, but not all.
enable/allow plugins or flash from your phone's default browser
yup,try that. afterwards try accessing a flash website.
this might help you enable flash in galaxy s.
"whatismyflash"
After checking this site it detects my flash a 9.xx.xx
im using the stock browser, do i need to power off after installing flash 10.1?
hmmmm...
not really. after enabling plugins from the browser settings.. went to youtube straight away and watch some videos straight from the browser.. and played some amazing puzzle games at eyemaze website.
some websites that require 10.xx.xx flash and other websites doesn't seem to load.. for the reason.. don't really a clue.

I am also Galaxy S user.. i also install adobe flash 10.1.. also cannot work..
check with Whatismyflash.com ot show Flash player 9.1.xx not 10.1.
How you make it to work?
Doesnt Work
This is my first android phone and not sure how much write access the installers have to the system on the i9000 but...
I have just installed the APK and still get flash player 9 which is the pre-install lite.. (apk is stored in /system/apps/flashlite)
/system/ looks to be readonly and cannot be overwritten unless you have root access.
not sure but this could be why its not working.
Might be worth someone with root access testing.
Can someone check is justin.tv works woth this?

1.1 Firmware mirror for NST

So I just picked up a nook simple touch and am eager to root it, I've done plenty with Android on phones, never an ebook though. I've been reading the material here and had a couple questions.
1.) It looks like 1.1 firmware is needed for most of the roots here, however B&N only lists 1.2 currently. Does anyone have a mirror to 1.1 or tell me how to get that, currently I'm on 1.0.1
2.) If I can't get 1.1 are there any roots that will work for 1.2? I've been following the thread here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1346748 and it looks like it only works from 1.1 by the sound of it.
3.) Is everyone or anyone using the NoRefreshToggle? If so what do you think? Is it worth trying it out? Dangers of using it? When you toggle it off do you get greyscale back? From the sounds of the post, it's pure black and white with it on which is fine if when I disable it, it goes back to normal greyscale images.
4.) Did anyone find out how to turn off page animations in the kindle app? not a big deal, just wondering.
Thanks a lot, look forward to trying this out.
Here's a copy of nook_1_1_update.zip I pulled down from B&N a few weeks ago: http://www.mediafire.com/?h5kn1214gfjhkcg In the end I didn't need it, so I can't confirm how the upgrade works (the instructions said just put the file within the zip on an SD card and reboot)

Thanks for the link
Thanks for the 1.1 post link, however I updated to 1.1.2 and followed the instructions and everything seems to be ok, I can get email, install from the market place, only thing I can't do is search the market. A search just lists a blank page and doesn't find any apps, any ideas.
As for the Kindle question, after installing kindle app and seeing the performance, this isn't a big deal at all.
Still curious on the refresh toggle however, any ideas on that, have you guys tried it out? I may post there if I don't hear back.
Thanks

I have checked and as you said market search functionality is absent, it seems to be broken since the Googleplay thing.
As a way to regain it, in the mean time we get an updated market working, install Searchmarket.
The NorefreshToggle is still in early stages, but works quite well for webpages, etc.
Try it, there are no risks on it, on any program when you enable the app it will work, and when you go into a menu it will return to normal grayscale.

How do I install Searchmarket if I can't search the market for it lol ... Do I have to install it on my phone first, then transfer the apk over to the NST, then file browse and install it from /system/app ?
I tried NoRefreshToggle, it's interesting, like you said a work in progress ... Tried it with GReader unfortunatly it shuts off between Feed view and Article view which is a pain, but I think that's probably to avoid ghosting.
As for web page viewing, Opera Mini FCs on me everytime I open it, as does the stock browser, so I haven't been able to try browsing as of yet Still looking for a solution to that one.
Thanks for all the info, really enjoying the NST if NoRefreshToggle keeps getting better this could really be a killer device

I just use the Google Play website to initiate installs to the nook (it appears in my device list as "phone")
The included Opera Mini installation never worked for me (no FC nothing). In the end I fixed it by uninstalling and reinstalling.

Should I downgrade to 1.1.1 and root or just go ahead with 1.1.2?
I can't wait to try this out.

I can't speak to the upgrade patch from 1.1.1, I bought my NST yesterday, it had 1.0.1 on it, I upgraded to 1.1.2 then followed the rooting instructions for 1.1.0 or was it 1.1.1 can't remember, in any case, after rooting everything seems to be working just fine

It was 1.1.0, there was no 1.1.1
Is there any risk upgrading to 1.1.2 from 1.1.0? Would I have to reinstall google apps &c? Did anything change in between 1.1.0 and 1.1.2? (I have heard that they may have fixed the WiFi issues that were plaguing me a few months ago.)

Remove Bloatware from T-Mobile Note 2

I searched many various sites including this one to try and find the best and safest way to uninstall bloatware. I tried Titanium Pro and when I tried to Backup/Restore and selected an app to delete it then rebooted my Note 2. I looked back into B/R and found the item was still there. There was a message indicating that it may take 2 or 3 reboots to complete the uninstall.
I am looking for an app that will run and unistall all bloatware that is safe to use or gives you the option to select apps to unistall. I did download one which looked very good and even listed the apps it would uninstall. It was SuperNote2 DeBloatware which was a zip file. It would not unzip and I could not get it to unzip after numerous downloads.
Anyone have a suggestion? Thanks in advance.

I did find that posting yesterday and downloaded mrRobinson_Note_II_De_Bloater.v1.00.zip to my PC. When I unzipped this file I saw folders:
apps
assets
meta-inf
These folders dated back to 2/28/2008. So, I was very unsure to use this.
When I opened:
apps it contained: GoogleQuickSearchBox.apk
Assets contained; common, fonts, icons, langs and themes.
Meta-inf contained: Com, Cert, Cert and manifest.
This just did not look right for what this was suppose to do. So, I left it.
Your opinion?

You are using a custom recovery, aren't you? CWM or TWRP ... Just follow the instructions in the 1st post. Boot into recovery and select that file and click custom and either run the program or just look through the files that you can remove and exit if you don't want to use the program.
Or, you could just install a custom ROM and not have to worry about this?

That thread is quite old and if you noticed, somewhat inactive with some issues reported. I always use Titanium Backup to "freeze" apps - this usually removes them from being active (and thus saving CPU and battery) but they still remain should you want them. It's a simple and painless process as you are not really deleting them and they do not use much memory anyway.
Here's a great list for the Samsung Galaxy line of devices from Android Forums: http://androidforums.com/metropcs-cdma-galaxy-s3-all-things-root/695070-safe-apps-remove.html

I honestly suggest using a custom rom instead... there are lists out there of apps to remove but it is more based on whats safe to remove vs not safe... ultimately its all user dependant (ie what apps do you use vs what someone else uses)... for me, I love to just install either CM (as reliable and "bare" as any of the roms come) or Jedi roms via aroma (if you still want to hang on to the TouchWiz side of things)... Aroma installs allow you to choose the bloatware you want to have and disregard the ones you dont want... there are tons of tutorials online that take you step by step... make sure you follow the directions (completely) and happy flashing!!

Dont know if you are still in need of help trying to figure out how to flash roms but, you would first need to install a custom recovery. The two major recoveries are TWRP and CWM. They're on par. I used CWM for years but switched to TWRP. From there you first want to make a backup of your original rom and flash as many roms you want to try out. If you dont like the rom, just restore. I dont know how familiar you are with flashing roms but it takes like one try and you pretty much do the same thing over and over.

MTP USB Device?
I thought I was doing great after uninstalling bloatware. However, when I tried to connect my Note 2 to my PC via USB I received the error that MTP USB Device driver could not be loaded. Apparently I must have uninstalled something on my Note 2 that is not allowing me to connect to the PC via USB. I have been searching all day, downloading various Driver apps to no avail. I even downloaded and installed Samsung Drivers which also did not work.
It never ends. Fix one thing and then another pops up. LOL
What else can I say except - H-E-L-P.
I still can use my USB plug from NOTE 2 to my Flash Drive to get stuff transfered to/from Note2/PC.

can you reflash? I hope so! There is sitll a way to reflash from sd card thought and install stock f/w or if you could remember or figure out which apk is responsible for that function. ...
That latter option is why I started this

ps this is why its so important to make a backup in twrp or cwm....google it or find it here! they also call it a nandroid backup...VERY IMPORTANT for issues like this. As previsouly stated you should be able to put the stock rom (check out sammobile's web page for official f.w) on the sd card and from there you can boot into recovery mode and install it from there. I believe. If that don't work look into mobile odin which I have never used. sorry for he typos lazy!

That is super weird.
Does long pressing the keys still give you the alternate symbol? Like they just don't show but they still work? Or is that entire function gone?
If the entire function is gone it HAS to be some weird setting. I can't believe this is something that would just break.

Long pressing does nothing, as you can see in screen shot no symbols on keys, it's like the keyboard was switched out by a google keyboard. It still showed as the Samsung keyboard, went through all setting I could find and nothing.
Searching for apk to reinstall but no luck so far. Keep finding versions that won't install even when pushed into system/apps.
Any link to a download would be appreciated.

I run AOSP so I don't have it handy.
You could try installing a stock ROM, extract the APK and save to your SD card, then restore your nandroid of your current ROM and put the 'new' apk in place.
I only run stock rooted on S4 and note 3..
AOSP on my tablets.
I have a couple of stock roms on the PC I guess I could decompile one and extract the keyboard.
Just have to figure out how to decompile?

Too much trouble to decompile. Blah.
And all I keep finding are keyboard themes.

You could back up your data, reflash a stock room and reroot it, put your data back, and it would be like nothing changed. Except the keyboard would be fixed.

Well after all that craziness just trying to get a KEYBOARD I ended up with the infamous " Miscellaneous files super bloat "
It was topping out at 7.65 GB, and I was getting the " insufficient storage " notification while I was installing apps.
No matter what I did to delete, Google searching, Disk cleaners, extreme profanity, you name it I tried it. Factory reset time. That's the only thing that cleared up my insufficient storage problem.
Back to square one.
Root, recovery, debloat notification sounds, ringers and b/u's from the pc, I'm done, you can stick a fork in me. :banghead::banghead::banghead:
That S6 edge is starting to look so good right now. Can't wait to jump.
I learned a lesson, keyboard wants to disappear, let it go.
Plenty of keyboards in the play store. :what:

[Port] Samsung Galaxy Apps Store For LG (And Other) Devices

***DISCLAIMER***: I refuse to accept responsibility if your device explodes, your cat/dog suddenly goes bald, you get fired from your job, Donald Trump converts to Islam and changes his first name to Abu, the world becomes engulfed in nuclear fire, etc. 'Nuff said.
Up until a few months ago I owned only Samsung where Android is concerned. But I got tired of the **** battery life that seemed to always manifest no matter which phone I bought. So I made a change and bought the finest LG I could find, which turned out being the v10. I've had a few issues here and there but nothing too serious. In my pre-LG days I used the S-Pen and Galaxy Apps often. Now, the latter was the only thing I really missed.
So, I dug up an old Note 4 ROM zip that was still lingering in my Dropbox, and began copying various files from it into my /system. After lots of headaches I managed the bare minimum # of files that were necessary to get Galaxy Apps working. The result is a <20MB flashable zip.
What you need:
File manager
Xposed
XInstaller
My zip
Download XInstaller, activate it in Xposed, go to Device Properties in the app, enable changing device properties, then change your model to "SM-N910T" (no quotes), then reboot. You technically could probably use any Samsung model, but this is what worked for me. Be aware that this will cause the Play Store (and possibly other apps) to mistake your model. Galaxy Apps checks your model when you run it, so this is necessary, unless you want to edit the APK to omit the model check (I don't know how).
As an alternative to using XInstaller and Xposed, you can just edit the model in your build.prop (located in /system).
Next, reboot into recovery and flash my zip, then wipe cache/dalvik cache. An alternative is to manually copy the files in the zip into their appropriate locations, then set permissions for each file to 0644. You can try installing all the APPs as data/user apps, but the 3 files in /system/etc/permissions and /system/framework must also be present, or this won't work.
Next, reboot into Android, go to Accounts in Settings, then add your Samsung account (create one if you don't have one). Launch Galaxy Apps and let it update and download additional necessary files (if necessary). Everything *should* work normally, including updating GA itself. I was able to download and run apps (all free). However, I haven't tested buying apps, in-app purchases, registering and using a credit/debit card, etc. If anyone wants to try then feel free and report back.
Caveats:
1. This may not work on ROMs below KitKat, since the files were pulled from a KK ROM. All files are presumably Samsung originals and I have not modified them in any way, which is why I'm calling this a port rather than a mod.
2. This may not work on AOSP/CM ROMs (it didn't for me, I got an FC/hang when trying to log into my Samsung account).
3. Nothing else I can think of ATM.
This is my first contribution to the Android community. This can probably also be used on other non-LG devices, but since I own an LG currently, I'm posting it here in the v10 forum, instead of somewhere else on XDA where it would receive more attention (people would eventually find this thread anyway by searching around).
If you think Galaxy Apps on LG is stupid, keep your thoughts to yourself and don't try this, I could care less what you think. This is for people that want to try it. Any trolling will be reported to the mods/admins.
Enjoy!
Edit: To be clear, I'm referring only to the GA Store itself, and not other Samsung Apps like SVoice, SMemo, etc. I just realized that my topic title might cause some confusion and people being mistaken.
Feel free to comment/discuss here, but all questions should either be PMed to me or (less preferably) posted in the Help/Q&A/Troubleshooting forums (but I don't really feel that this 2nd option is appropriate, because any issues are almost certainly due to trying to run GA on non-Samsung devices, rather than an LG/v10/non-Samsung issue).
I will be regularly updating the zip whenever any of the APPs get an update (and probably stop when this no longer works for whatever reason).
Credits to Samsung and HyperDrive ROM devs for the files, and JRummyApps and ZipMe for the means to create a flashable zip.
I don't own the v10 anymore. I went back to using the Note 4, which is a bit older than the v10 but still very fast and reliable for me. Battery life is also much better than I remember it being around 2 years ago (the last time I had my old N4 before it was stolen). Overall I'm happy I switched back, very few issues, all small. On it I'm running a modded Nougat ROM that is based on LineageOS. My Galaxy Apps zips runs fine even on that, no need to use Xposed/XInstaller or edit my build.prop, probably because it's an N4 and not an LG. I will continue to provide support for this, I plan to submit another zip soon that has all of the provided Samsung APKs as up-to-date as possible, and will have only the APKs that will be compatible for as many devices as possible.
Which samsung app are they? Just curious if the camera will work?
@raven213: They are:
Samsung Account
Samsung Billing
Samsung Galaxy Apps
Samsung In-App Purchase
Samsung Push Service
The only ones you can actually interact with are Account and Galaxy Apps, Account is so you can sign into a Samsung account from your Settings' Accounts menu, or from Galaxy Apps itself. I don't think Galaxy will let you download without an account anyway. Billing and IAP are most likely for being able to collect your payment info if you buy an app or make an in-app purchase (like buying coins in a online game or whatever). I haven't tested buying anything, so if anyone decides to tries, please post whether it worked. And Push Service is so the Samsung apps can send notifications to your device. So basically, just the bare essentials needed for Galaxy to work and nothing else. As for Samsung Camera, I doubt it will work, it'll probably just crash, since other files might be needed for that. Maybe you can get a Samsung Camera APK from apkmirror.com, or from Galaxy. There are also numerous threads on XDA where you can find collections of Samsung apps, they might have what you want.
I'm posting an updated zip with updated versions of all the apps/APKs, I made it not too long ago so they should be relatively recent. If they're out of date, they may ask to update, just let them. Or you can manually check for updates in Galaxy. I haven't tested the new version much, but it did work in my most recent try.
Also, I've come up with a new method that should work. It involves pushing touchwiz.xml to /system/etc/permissions/, and pushing twframework.jar and twframework-res.apk to /system/framework/. These are necessary and must be present in /system/. But the APKs can just be installed as regular user/data apps instead of system apps. To accomplish this just flash the latest zip (presumably from TWRP), then open TWRP's file manager, go to /system/priv-app/ and delete the Samsung APK files. You can also use FlashFire. Then boot into Android, unzip the zip file, then just install the APKs like you normally would. You'll need to enable Unknown Sources for this to work. Follow my instructions from the first post too. If you're on Marshmallow or higher, go to Settings and then Apps, manually grant all permissions for the Samsung stuff. If you cant see them make sure to enable viewing of system apps in this menu.
I am going to apply this method to my new non-Samsung Android phone as I really missed Samsung Focus. Do you think I will be able to use Samsung Focus with your method?
@xanga: I've never heard of Samsung Focus, so I wouldn't know if it would work. I only tested with the Galaxy Apps store. You will have to try for yourself and find out. Let me know if it does.
Does it works on xperia z5 with lineageos 14.1 on it?
I don't know, you'll have to try to. I don't own any Sony phones. It should though.
Important Question
This way, will I be able to install "Samsung Notes" app and Sync with Samsung Account?
@Fuurio: I don't know, as I said before, you'll have to try for yourself. Let me know if it works.
Yeah, it's a shame that this isn't working on Linage 15.1 . I can get the watch talking to my phone but I am unable to load any apps from Galaxy apps to the phone (which is better than nothing). As you said it just hangs... Everything else seems to work, it can even communicate with SHealth. If I don't update Galaxy Apps after flashing your 2nd zip I can sign in but when trying to install/download apps to my phone (Note Edge... pretty much a note 4) it downloads but hangs at that point and is unable install it to the watch through the gear plugin apparently (which is running).... If I update to the latest Galaxy apps (4.2.22) it can't even log in it gives me an error that the account already exists in account manager. Anyway, seems like I am almost getting it though. In fact I was able to work this prior to the last month or so (not with your zips) but something either changed with the Samsung apps or with Lineage 15.1
If anyone manages to get this to work completely on Lineage 14.1 or 15.1 pls post how you did it. I would like to at least be able to add watch faces.
Working now....
@rickpub: You mean it works with Oreo now? Because for me it doesn't, the app will open but it keeps saying there is a Samsung account already registered, when I try to download most apps. Works fine in Nougat.
Camera broke
Help i need to fix it how do i undo it
@Nick32603: What did you do? You just flashed the zip? And now your camera isn't working? I don't see how my zip would break your camera, unless you changed your model in build.prop, or with the Xposed module I mentioned. You can try deleting the files in the zip from your system partition. Or you can flash a stock KDZ. I used my zips on a LG v10 stock ROM awhile back, nothing broke, camera continued working normally. If you need more help then just post or send me a PM, I'll try to help.
Here is a link to a zip with the updated Galaxy Apps components (everything should be current as of May 2019). Follow steps in 1st post and flash in TWRP:

Thanks, I tried installing this after the original one didn't work, but it didn't work either. It always hung itself up or crashed when trying to add a new Samsung account.
But I got it finally working after installing this Samsung Account APK: https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/samsu...ng-account/samsung-account-2-2-04-64-release/
I'm not sure why it works now but I'll take it. Newer versions of this apk might work as well, but I only tried this one.
Thanks for this. Could you maybe bundle a few more apps. The sync provider(s) are really useful IMO.
Or maybe you could just dumb the entire rom on mega so we could pick the apps we like?
the file is not working
