What do you have brightness set at? By default, the G3 will dim the display if it's starting to overheat. You an change this setting in the hidden dialler menu.
I tried that.thermal daemon mitigation and high temp property both turned on.it happens also when phone is not warn or hot.as soon as i turn the screen it happens.so fast if you blink you will miss it.the screen actually flickers very fast and dims just enough to notice.i told my friend to watch his screen immediately after he wakes his phone and he said hey i have never noticed that before.i bet its happening to alot more people but it happens so fast most wont notice.screen brightness has to be 100 percent though i noticed.please check it out and get back to me.

Is there anyone out there?i noticed back in the questions threads someone else asked about the same issue but no one responded.im not giving this up until someone can help me

I don't see it happening on mine and I don't know what else to suggest.
Hmmm.really im not crazy lollike i said before.it happened on my lg g2 when i flashed any g3 ported rom.and it happens so fast most dont notice it.my friend said i was crazy until she really watched her screen and confirmed i was right.im guessing it might have something to do in developer options.on some ported g3 roms to my old g2 that if you ticked hardware over ride option i would go into gallery to look at a pic and all my pics were distorted.i actually narrowed it down to that one developer option.so what im guessing is when i set up my g3 for the first time i have ticked an option somewhere and thats what is causing my problem.maybe some people dont use all the same options as me and thats why it isnt happening to everyone.just a thought

Mins started doing the same thing a few days ago out of the blue and nothing seems to get it to stop. The phone is not hot or anything, but when i turn the brightness up the screen dims a tad. Pretty annoying, but at least I know I'm not the only one. I am still on version VS98510B with Verizon.
anyone find a solution?
Is there an app that slows cpu a bit to make screen stay at least HALF bright? After playing a game 5 min mine dims to unusable.

Has anyone noticed their GN turn on by itself and turn off? I've notice this happening a few times a day and each time I think it's shutting itself off but its not. Nothing is running or the table wasn't nudged in any way. I can only catch a glimpes of the screen turning off before I notice it. There's also nothing moving or any light to reflect off the screen to make me think its a reflection...
Just wondering if anyone else notice this... I hope it's not all in my head.
Could be an app doing this, are you using: Delayed Lock, Unlock with WiFi, any lockscreen replacement app?
never thought about the delayed lock... That seems likes the easiest answer to this.
Thanks!
Yup, if you are using DelayedLock that is most definitely the problem, and one of the reasons I abandoned the app. That and it doesn't play nice with Juice Defender.

If you lower the screen brightness all the way down and open the stock internet to Google, and tap the search bar to pop the keyboard up, you'll see a slight flicker. So far on every display s4 at the store has the same problem. Anyone have an idea if this is software or hardware related?
Huh, I dont have that problem on my phone. Just tested it.

I don't have that problem as well. Just tested it.

Same here. Tested and experienced no flickering issue.
Are you talking about the smearing issue when the phone is dim all the way and you have white text on black background. Text turns hazy purple when u scroll. If so this is a known issue that's been reported here already.

I've noticed flickering on super white backgrounds. It's hard to see and it's got to be the right lighting and high brightness. IMO if you need to go through a process to see a slight flicker, blobs, etc., it's not really a concern. I'm assuming it's software related.. Same with the text blur.

Well yeah thats what I mean't by flicker lol. I honestly think the oled screen samsung put in the s4 is a little faulty and they needed to calibrate it better before shipping.

Settings -> My Device -> Display -> Uncheck Auto Adjust Screen Tone

mine does it. also, turning off auto tone doesnt help. with me at least
mine does it... unchecking the auto adjust doesnt help.
Most users wont notice it. Hell, I myself didn't notice it until someone pointed it out on their device and I tested and saw it. OCD kicked in.
Go in any app with the keyboard popped up and go into the Sun directly hitting the screen and you will see your screen flickering endlessly no matter what app your in

So I fixed the problem kinda but my phone just tripped uber balls on me! The screen does this one thing every now and then where it wants to just go black while trying to receive a call. Whatever no biggie. That's where I was wrong. It seems to be happening a bit note frequently now. Well today I was watching TV and all of a sudden my options g wouldn't turn on. I mean I was pressing the volume rocker and I could feel the phone vibrate and such but the screen was straight BLACK! anyone ever get this before? If so what did you do for a fix. Oh PS I'm not rooted. My PC broke down and all I have now is my Mac and I don't how to root with a stupid Macbook pro.

This happened to me once when trying to use the navigation app. So Annoying! I'm not sure how I fixed it though.
On Vanilla RootBox rom.
So just now my screen started flickering and it goes black when I slide my keyboard out, but a simple power on-off fixes it.
First of all, this is very tidious and annoying to do -.-
Second, I fear the screen will eventually stop working at all.
So my question, has anyone experienced this before and can give me and info on it? Would flashing a new Rom probably fix it? It doesn't seem to affect anything else at this moment, but I don't know what this little glitch will lead to.

A lil more info, the screen seems to flash on/off at the second I slide the screen up. When the screen goes black, it still works and responds to any touch as normal, but I just can't see anything at all.
Could this be a LCD problem? Or screen brightness?

Well, my gut tells me that the back light is going out, but I can't be sure. Is the screen really dark (as in, you can barely see anything in it if you shine a flashlight on the screen) or is it off (can't see anything in it at all, even with the flashlight). Also, what ROM are you using and so on?
Thanks for your help, but I'm getting used to it now. When I decide to flash a new ROM, if that solves it then great, and if not, I guess ill just use the phone till the screen blows out. This is only my media phone so its not a big deal and since the problem hasn't gotten worse over the 2 weeks I'm hoping it won't.

I just got a new Note 10.1 2014. I haven't yet rooted it though I plan to.
There must be a simple answer to this though I can't find it.* I have three Note 2s, a Note 3, and have been routing phones for many years going back to early HTC Windows phones. But alas I haven't found what must be a self evident to most.
How do I get rid of this persistent constant Samsung advertisement for the Note 10.1 features.* When I go into sleep (by this I mean push the power button briefly -- not power off) or close the lid so the screen goes dark, within a few seconds the screen starts up again with this never ending advertisement that begins with a helicopter flying and then proceeds with video of every feature of the device - at least from Samsung's perspective. So last night I put the device to sleep with a full battery charge and didn't realize the screen was reactivated by this b annoyance and was on all night even though the cover was closed. In the morning the device was off with zero battery.
I don't know if they consider this a screen saver or what but I can't find how to turn it off.
Can someone help?* Thank you very much.

Might be that you have daydream feature and it came with a small demo of the tablet's features. Check under display settings to see if that's the problem.

Thanks, I checked the daydream feature under display setting and it is off. So this is something else. Any other ideas?

It sounds like it's in some type of demo mode. I've never seen what you're describing including the first time I turned it on out-of-the-box. Did you buy it open-box or as a former floor model? You might want to try a hard reset and see if it's still there afterward.
It is using it as a screen saver. Set wallpaper. lock screen - and change/stop it...
Check under device administrators too
I think changing screen saver might have been the way to go and would probably have fixed it (though I don't know). But I did a hard reset and all is now right with the world. Thanks for all of your help guys. I appreciate it
